Literature & Fiction
Review:Michael Reid's review of this wonderful book (whatever it is--nightmare, novel, allegory, etc.) is very close to my own feelings about it. It defies most traditional critical approaches, just as the characters in it are themselves continually foiled and re-educated in their encounters with some of the weirdest people and situations in 20th-century fiction. It is a slam on anarchism and political mischief-making, but it is also a slam on the moralistic, "quick-fix" crusaders against rocking the... Read more
Review:If you love literature, this is a fantastic work. I also read in during a trip to India. The trip gave context to the novel and the novel context to the locations I was visiting. That's honestly the best way to explore a new country. Read more
Review:I am an author so probably somewhat more critical than the average reader. I found the subject to be interesting, but not the hilarious page turner it was purported to be. I read it in a couple of days, and found it to be a reasonable selection of first person news stories. This was not David Sedaris, or Tom Robbins by any measure. Read more
Review:3.5/5: Well blow me down with a feather! Never would I freely have bought this book, it's not my genre and not why I read. I have plenty of fear, violence, horror and fantasy in the office daily, I really don't need to read it in my spare time. I did not know anything about the author, I still don't although I think she's/they're young. The language skips to colloquial parlance often but it is in keeping with the age of the protagonist. The plot is thin but interesting enough to hold attention t... Read more
Review:I enjoyed the struggles that the characters had to work on throughout the story. It built sympathy and connection to the characters. I would recommend reading the prequel first. I will definitely be reading the next book. Read more

Review:I thoroughly enjoyed the action and vivid description in this fantasy novel. The author clearly depicts the internal struggles of transition from youthful antics to adult acceptance of responsibility. Read more
Review:This series is great. Yes, i had a sense of the Dresden files as I read--but I love the Dresden files, at least until Butcher's books where the writing got dark. This character never gets dark. If anything, Erik is more flip and humorous than Harry Dresden. There is a great cast of characters. The talking demon cat is always good for a laugh. The sister not so much, not even as a foil. The bad guys are unique, dangerous, and suspenseful. And the cast of good guys keeps growing.

Review:Another wild ride through the Templeverse from Shayne Silvers.
Nate Temple accidentally allowed Mordred, bastard son of King Arthur, to escape from Hell. So now he has to manage somehow to send him back there. But Mordred, in the process of his escape, somehow managed to abduct the Nine Souls, particularly strong magical souls, to go as part of him, so he is not going to be easy to defeat.
In his quest to conquer Mordred, Nate manages to travel through most of the far-flung areas o... Read more
Review:This is a Beautiful read. If you love myth and folklore this is definitely worth picking up. Roanhorse does a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. Especially my favorite trickster Coyote.
Can't wait to see where the trail leads Maggie. Read more
