Red Riding Hood
Red Riding Hood

Review:So by reading the reviews before actually reading the book I was nervous to read this book because I didnt know how it would turn out. Catherine Hardwicke is someone who I havent seen her work other than Twilight and I wasnt to much in love with how the movie turned out. But I gave it a shot and it was well worth it.
I understand people were upset because it cut it short with a lot of questions unanswered. I get that. But to be fair the book wasnt supposed to be released for another month or ... Read more

Crimson Bound
Crimson Bound

Review:Since I work as a Teen Services Librarian, I always relish the start of a new book because there is always the chance for being captivated. I started "Crimson Bound" with just that expectation and I was truly sad that I couldn't get lost in the fascinating world that Rosamund Hodge created. This is a dark, complicated story. At the start of the story, Rachelle is apprenticed to her aunt to become a woodwife, a person intended to protect her village from dark magic. Rachelle, though, has a strong... Read more

Cruel Beauty
Cruel Beauty

Review:Loved the mystery and the twists and turns that Cruel Beauty takes you on. It was descriptive and dark, but still have a promise of hope. I love Beauty and the Beast troupes, but this was all round unique to me. Enjoyed every page and loved the interaction between Nyx and her 'beast'. Read more

Sisters Red (Fairy Tale Retelling)
Sisters Red (Fairy Tale Retelling)

Review:The sisters of SISTERS RED by Jackson Pearce (2010) are quite a pair. Scarlett, the oldest, lives to hunt. She defended her sister against the Fenris (werewolves) from a vicious attack. Rosie, the youngest, owes Scarlett her life. They hunt down and fight Fenris side by side with a bond that feels unbreakable--making it feel like they have one heart.

Rosie is drawn to Silas, a young man from their home town, and feels as though she is betraying her sister. The three go on a mission to fin... Read more

A Tale of the Wicked Queen (Villains) - A Tale of the Wicked Queen
A Tale of the Wicked Queen (Villains) - A Tale of the Wicked Queen

Review:Very similar to Gregory Maguire's series of fairytale books (Wicked, Confessions of an Ugly Step Sister, etc) we learn what made made the Evil Queen evil. Additions of a few characters flesh out the book to approximately 250 pages. And portions of the Disney film, Snow White, pop up and help it all fit together. It's was an enjoyable read though a few scenes may make it a little too scary or unsuitable for younger kids. I finished the book in a few hours while waiting in the airport so it is not... One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns)
One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns)

Review:Since the last novel there was an incredible plot twist that left the story hanging from the minds of readers everywhere. There was a hardening of characters, but also a deeper look at who they were and who they are now that was incredibly thoughtful and captivating.

This is a not a novel for the fainthearted, or for someone who thinks that these queens are going to live happily ever after. These are queens who are destined to destroy one another as they have for centuries, leaving the st... Read more

Hunted
Hunted

Review:After reading tons of fairly mixed reviews of this book I decided to finally read it for myself! I found that I liked it overall. Perfect Beauty and the Beast retelling with just the right amount of the authors spin on it. I found the world building was okay, and the writing was good. For me however, I found myself growing irritated with Yeva after a while. And while the end was good, I wished for more from the Beast, especially at the end.
3.5/5 stars for Hunted Read more

Crimson Crown, The (Seven Realms Book 4)

Review:This book is amazing. A series well worth reading. The ending brought tears to my eyes. This is truly the most beautiful ending I have read in a book like this. I am literally fighting off years. China Williams China crafted a masterpiece out of words that will touch my heart for many years to come. Hopefully I will never forget the beauty of this book.
