Diets & Weight Loss
Review:Incredible book. Great sequel to the greatest treatise on diet and health ever written, Gary Taubes Good Calories Bad Calories. Teicholz picks up the baton and in the same thorough investigative style underscores points Taubes makes and then delves deeper in many other important areas. She again exposes the myth and hoax of the "diet heart hypothesis" foisted on us by a cadre of exclusive, elitist, over enthusiastic, non scientific low fat advocates with a zeal based more on politics than scie... Review:The book was delivered in pristine condition. I have started reading and I am already impressed by the use of statistical data to back up claims. Most alternative medicine books do not cite statistical use data and if to be considered as serious alternatives for health professionals, they should do this.
The source of the information seems completely legit this far and I have no qualms accepting the recommendations set forth in this publication.
I would highly recommend it to anyone. Read more
Review:The book arrived on time and was generally as described. However, upon reading it, the pages are now separating from the spine, which to me is a little more than "cosmetic". I have to be careful when opening and reading the chapters. Other than that, it's as described. Read more
Review:Very well written. Convincing and helpful. I do realize the "wisdom" part of utilizing the Word of Wisdom, since we are all very unique, is to know the needs of our own bodies. Some of us can do well with a complete whole food plant based diet, and some of us require some meat in our diet. Certainly not in excess, however, and Birch's book is very good to bring that out. Review:This is our most tattered and used cookbook in the house. First off, its flaws are tolerable. I find some of the recipes ask for too much pasta, but you can easily adjust stuff like that. I am also sometimes suspicious about the sugar in some of these recipes, especially after reading the China Study and Whole. I love that there are pictures for most of the recipes, however they are all zoomed in and I would prefer some of the pictures be taken farther back to give a better idea of what the dish... Review:I have mixed emotions about China Study Quick & Easy Cookbook. The photography is nice so you get an idea of what each dish is without having to read the recipe first, so deciding what you want to cook is easier. But two things frustrate me about the book:
...No nutrition information for the recipes, and
...Unclear cooking instructions.
I ordered the book because I read The China Study and other books based on that information, so I'm eating vegan for both humane reasons and for... Read more
Review:Good information and follow-through from "The China Study." Some parts are wordy, but the chapters end with a section called "The Bottom Line," which really summed things up well. I had a lot of health questions answered, and this research really rings true to me. I love the 2-week kick-start plan - I needed something exactly laid out to begin my journey! My favorite recipe so far is the sweet potato enchiladas - so delicious! I feel like a whole-food plant-based diet is not only very doable... Read more

Review:Kinda incomplete, as at the end of book there are recipes and daily menu plans, but the things on the menu plan include items without recipes...so guess you gotta make those things up or find recipe yourself...which defeats the point of the book, in my opinion. Would not have bought this if knew that detail. Read more
Review:This book, although written in the early 20th century contains some of the most important health information ever recorded. Dr. Price was a pioneer in determining the relationship between nutrition and degenerative diseases. It is my opinion that all healthcare practicioners (traditional and alternative) should be required to read this text before graduation. I believe that it is that important to understand the implications of living in an industrialized nation...and of course what can be do... Read more
