The Force: A Novel
The Force: A Novel

Review:Gritty cop novel written in New Yawkese. A real page-turner with twists and turns that are presented in a believable manner. Presents the very dark side of the police force which is surpassed by the venality of their civilian minders. Highly recommended for those who like the cop genre. Read more

An Accidental Murder (The Yellow Cottage Vintage Mysteries Book 1)
An Accidental Murder (The Yellow Cottage Vintage Mysteries Book 1)

Review:Suspend your disbelief and just go with it. If ghost stories are your cup of English Breakfast tea, you will love this very short, sweet book. The characters could be more deep and hopefully they will become so in subsequent stories. But for now, it's a great way to pass a couple of hours. Read more

Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions (An Auntie Poldi Adventure)
Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions (An Auntie Poldi Adventure)

Review:Auntie Poldi. She’s a man-loving - especially Inspector Vito Montana-loving - German Miss Marples. She’s a terrier on the trail of murder in sensuous, warm Sicily. She’s as tasty as Sicily itself. She begins her days with a ‘revivifying Prosecco’, and often continues them with other stronger refreshments. Except when she’s on the case - except for another prosecco or two, because prosecco really isn’t a ‘drink’. I cannot think of another such amusing protagonist in the field of whodunits.

The Valley of Fear (The Penguin English Library)
The Valley of Fear (The Penguin English Library)

Review:Classic Holmes and classic back-story, especially considering when it was written, and how it must have brought a bit of "exotic" American ambiance to British readers. The denouement in the Valley of Fear was one of the most thrilling moments in Doyle's stories-- as a young adolescent, I loved it! Read more

Good Fortunes (A Claire Rollins Mystery Book 1)
Good Fortunes (A Claire Rollins Mystery Book 1)

Review:This book was well written; characters and plot were fairly enjoyable. The paranormal aspect was a turnoff for me. The typical plot line of the main character thinking they can and should solve the crime themselves instead of the police is wearing and just, illogical to me. Read more

A Good Man Gone (Mercy Watts Mysteries Book 1)
A Good Man Gone (Mercy Watts Mysteries Book 1)

Review:Light, hilarious, chick-lit, who done it, that had me laughing out loud for real, and also put a few tears in my eyes with some heart touching moments. A Marilyn Monroe look alike that stops traffic when she runs, mixed with a dutiful daughter, a caring nurse and you have a combination I adore. Mercy Watts my new fave Nurse/Detective. Keep the books coming! Read more

Blood and Ice
Blood and Ice

Review:LOVED IT! I've read all of Robert Masellos' books and I feel that this one was by far his best! I had a very hard time putting it down once I started it! At points I was so tempted to skip ahead to see what happened! (But I refrained!) Just when you thought you knew what was going to happen, something else did! It really kept you guessing all the way through!
I think it will make a really great movie too if the right director gets it. I don't want to give anything away in my review. But ... Read more

A Meg Langslow Mystery (Meg Langslow Mysteries) - Duck the Halls
A Meg Langslow Mystery (Meg Langslow Mysteries) - Duck the Halls

Review:Donna Andrews is my favorite writer. I've read all of her Meg Langslow Mysteries. All the characters by now feel like old friends. Yet...I found it a little too much Meg and not enough of her slight odd ball family. Even so, "Duck the Halls" was a joy to read. Read more

A Meg Langslow Mystery (Meg Langslow Mysteries) - Lord of the Wings
A Meg Langslow Mystery (Meg Langslow Mysteries) - Lord of the Wings

Review:Humorous rather than funny, although a couple of scenes gave me a real smile (and a new respect for ravens). The book is a pleasant read and gives us a chance to relax and escape reality. Not a bad deal. Read more
