The Wrath & the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn)
The Wrath & the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn)

Review:A re-telling of "The One Thousand and One Nights" (aka "The Arabian Nights") - LOVE the idea. I wish the execution were a little better.

Ahdieh does a good job of making us readers connect emotionally with the two main characters, Shahrzad and Khalid, which is enough to carry a good part of the story. But the power behind the story comes from two supporting characters - Shiva and Tariq - that we just don't get enough about to make the drama as powerful as it could be.

Shahrzad is f... Read more

Book 2). (A Gothic Romance Based On A Norwegian Legend.)

Review:This story is well thought, but there are certain areas that drag out too long while the ending was too abrupt. For all the great action in this book, the ending seemed unfinished. In comparison the the rest of the book where some of the details and sappy moments are over done. I enjoyed getting to know the story, but I'm not completely satisfied with the outcome Read more

Fallen (Guardian Saga Book 1) (Guardian Trilogy)
Fallen (Guardian Saga Book 1) (Guardian Trilogy)

Review:It seems confusing at first and then Laury Falter weaves a web that leaves you enchanted and unwilling to put the book down. I found myself staying up too late at night reading to see what was going to happen next. Read more

Skyborn (Dragons and Druids Book 1)
Skyborn (Dragons and Druids Book 1)

Review:The heroine says funny things, which makes this book worth reading. If not for that “saving grace,” it would just be a rather standard paranormal romance (i.e., at age 20, the heroine abruptly discovers she is a Dragon Shifter and the world is depending on her, meets a hunky male dragon and his friends and basically runs away from them a lot because she feels frightened and overwhelmed).

Perhaps the next book will have more character development, pacing, and not end on a cliffhanger. On... Read more

Angelsong - Dark Angel Box Set Books 1-3
Angelsong - Dark Angel Box Set Books 1-3

Review:This series is seriously addicting! It has a different spin on Seraphim than I'm used to reading. Most books that contain Seraphim kind of follow along the same lines but the author really shows originality not only in her portrayal of them, but the other types of characters contained in the books. It makes for a very intriguing plot & keeps you hooked throughout the series! Read more

A Gripping Fantasy Thriller (A Chosen Novel Book 1)
A Gripping Fantasy Thriller (A Chosen Novel Book 1)

Review:I follow Jeff Altabef, on various media, and he kindly sent me “Wind Catcher” for free. Having read the blurb and the first few pages, I would have willingly paid – writing costs as does any job. I am glad that I ignored those reviewers that criticised the narrator/protagonist’s “wavering” about her ‘chosen’ role and wanting to be normal. I may be retired, and a man, but I remember all the teenage anxieties I went through of wanting to be normal. Okay, I ended up rebelling but that was my ultima... Read more

Love Me Never (Lovely Vicious Book 1)
Love Me Never (Lovely Vicious Book 1)

Review:Airy, charismatic and witty. Lovely Vicious will having you shaking your head, laughing out loud and fist pumping the air! That's not to say that it doesn't take a on a dark, mysterious cloud throughout the book. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it gave me the chills or is a mystery but its underlining is somewhat unclear. Its a wee bit of everything to be honest.

Loved the Heroine. She's conniving, convincing, sweet, spectacular, awesome and sooooo on! I connected on so many levels wi... Read more

A Hat Full of Sky (Discworld Book 32)
A Hat Full of Sky (Discworld Book 32)

Review:The book is funny and carries the unique Pratchett charm. It is classic Discworld, but the characters and story are not as thrilling as some of the others in the series. I prefer Death, Rincewind, the wizards and other classic Ankh-Morpork characters to the witches. Discworld fans read this book! Starting on the series, or perhaps haven't read many of them? Skip this until you find a character group you really like. Read more

The Elsker Saga Box Set (Books 1-3 + Novella)
The Elsker Saga Box Set (Books 1-3 + Novella)

Review:This book (though there are three there is no need to split them up, they should have been one) reads plot point for plot point like twilight fan fiction, just replace vampire with Norse god. Hard to believe but the writing was even worse. That being said, I felt compelled to read the whole thing so I gave it two stars instead of one. Read more
