Review:The adventure of Amel and Raolcan continues and this was the most frustrating book of the first four. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to be able to continue immediately.
Firstly, Amel faces incredible amount of unfairness in this book, even from the people who have showed her kindness previously. It is infuriating to see how people change so easily and disregard Amel and what she has to say. She is nothing if not persistent, honourable and honest. She is also by far the bravest and strongest ... Read more
Review:Being more than tired of the Potter wanabes, this book gives what it promises. Take a look into the world of steampunk that tells a story of betrayal, escape, inventions and friendship. This is the one you'll kick yourself for missing. Read more
Review:Oh wow, I half expected this book to be something on the lines of sleeping beauty but I was wrong. I love the concept on the story line as it is something I haven't read before. This is the first book I have read by this author although I do have some of their other books on my wish list. I can't wait to read more of their books and look forward to the next in this series. Review:I love Lauren Oliver's other dystopian novels. This was a big cheat. It was a short story with no additional information to the ongoing story. I think had I known this, it would have been an easy SKIP and save your money. Read more
Review:Love this series, great characters, great world building, action, adventure, emotions, all you could want in a space opera... The one issue I have is that there are so many runoff series that effect this one and you can miss subtle mentions if you haven't read them all. I'm behind on that as I do try to read other books so I know I am missing some of the drama and foreshadowing. Anyway, this book starts a bit slow catching us up with all the things that happened between books, but the emotion... Read more
Review:Great read. Has quite a few chunks of exposition explaining how its universe works along with quite a few essay-like thoughts on morality. Weirdly enough, I felt that not a lot happened in this book. Lots of explanations, conversations, and inner monologues. Then we have a flurry of activity near the end of the book, which left a cliffhanger and a conflict that really wasn't resolved - just delayed.
Would still love to see what happens next, though. There was a 2.5-year gap between the fi... Read more
Review:This book was obviously written for a YA audience, but I still enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The characters are realistic, with personalities that you see in everyday people,a d I think that adds a nice touch of realism to the supernatural setting. The plot went along at a steady pace instead of dragging like some other books, and though there's an overload of 'teenage vampire' novels out there lately, this one was better than most. Read more
Review:For a YA werewolf collection, these books weren't actually too bad to read. I enjoyed most of it, although I do have a few complaints.
My biggest complaint was the lack of awareness about canine/lupine biology. There is no need for the human knees to turn backwards. Canine legs may look different, but they have knees that face the exact same way ours do. Dogs and wolves walk on their toes. The backward part of the legs is the equivalent to our heel. That annoyed the hell out of me every time ... Read more
Review:I picked this book up because of the post-apocalyptic world and the interesting backdrop of Victorian versus Science Fiction. The main character, Clara, is likable and a strong female lead, which accounts for most of the reason I stuck with the story as long as I did.
The Pearl Savage does have some merit, providing a unique world with a workable plot. The main character certainly had potential, tolerating the abuse of her drunk mother in order to protect her people from the mistreatment ... Read more
Review:This book feels like Harry Potter meets Dr Strange. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have already purchased book two. For anyone that loves different "worlds" or likes good combinations of favorites, I believe this would work beautifully. Read more
