Suspense
Review:This book is quite the psychological thriller. It didn't pull me in as early as other books written by David Beers, but once it got going I was hooked. The characters really get in your head. Even though John is seriously disturbed, he still manages to come off as relatable. Does that make me sound like a serial killer?
Generally I like how descriptive David's writing is. He has a way of painting a scene to fully immerse you in the experience or emotion. That being said, I thought the writing... Read more
Review:Damned fine read. Spoiler alert.
This one starts with Mike Raven. He and his partner Skulick, a man who lost the use of his legs when a ghost had dropped him out of a third story window. He had lived but was now a prisoner in a wheelchair. Skulick, like Raven, is a man of action. He'd been fighting the supernatural for twenty years.
Skulick had been a mentor to Mike when both of his parents were killed by a demon. He had been friend, mentor and partner since that day twenty one yea... Read more
Review:I liked the story very much. It was a real page turner. I was terribly disappointed when it ended. I had a load of questions that would never be answered. I gave it four stars because it was very good - as far as it went. Read more
Review:My favorite thing about this set was the interesting and enthralling way the story was told. It's hard to do much of anything that's new in this genre, but these books managed it with different perspectives of the same events. Read more
Review:I went by the good reviews and downloaded this book. Unfortunately -- although I did read to the end -- I really did not like this story. Mainly, the characters are so awful. Not a single one, except two or so of the lesser ones, was likable. I felt like slapping Tamra, and anyway, she's so badly drawn I still have no idea who and what she really is. Her husband, same story. Flat as cardboard and in the end I knew nothing much about his character and personality. The daughter, ditto. And the s... Read more
Review:Probably what Gillian Flynn was going for but not an enjoyable read compared to Gone Girl or Sharp objects. The characters were repellent and the storyline took too long to become intriguing. I did have to read to the end to find out "who done it" but found myself skipping parts to just get to the end! Read more
Review:I like mysteries, and this book was an easy, fast read; the kind one uses to wind down at the end of the work day. The problem with this story appears to be character development. I found the protagonist, Amber, to be annoying and extremely shallow, right up to the end when she decides she doesn't want to develop a relationship with Caleb, the widower. Is it because Amber wants to become a productive member of society again, or is it because she discovers Caleb is broke. I strongly suspect t... Read more
Review:I read this book in one sitting and was enthralled the entire time. Haunting Charlie is entertaining, fast-paced, and a great read for those who like to read paranormal mysteries. I can’t wait to continue with the series. Read more
Review:Well thought out and well written story about how terrorism can and possibly already are pervading our country... The realistic and human characters and plot line has me anticipating from Scott Matthews! Read more
Review:A compelling story. I especially like Ellsworth's style of writing, he doesn't waste words. Last night I downloaded two more of his books and started "The Dead Lawyer in Isle 11". I was very happy to see that the style of writing was the same. I'll probably read all of his books. Read more
