Review:Seriously, who wrote this? Because five chapters in, it reads like someone's first novel. There's been at least six occurrences where as a reader the author is telling us something, instead of showing. The real Jennifer Ashley left those mistakes behind years ago. Completely unlike any other book in the series. I don't mind the departure in terms of the approach, the setting, etc. – as long as it's written well. This is not. Read more
Review:This book had a huge problem with the Spanish used in it. Namely, the male lead kept calling his female romantic interest "Mi ja." Which translates to "my daughter." Basically, mija (which is how it is spelled) is a contraction of mi hija-again literally my daughter. It was very disturbing to read him calling his girlfriend my daughter just before they got it on. Please, please, check this stuff. Read more
Review:I like this author's world building and relatable characters. This is a good series and I am looking foward to future installments. Can be read as a stand alone but would be better if read in order of the series to enjoy some othe the past characters. One of the better shifter series out right now. Consider this series if you like Dana Marie Bell, Shelly Laurenston or Moira Rogers. Read more
Review:The world has changed. Bree is a follower of the shifters and their story. She was headed home from the bar, when Seamus jumped in her truck and said GO! Seamus was running from some hunters, and she helped him escape. They were attracted to each other almost immediately. Bree is a feisty, strong giving person. Her Mom, Nadine, is one tough cookie, and has her shotgun ready when trouble follows them to her house. There is a lot going on and we don't know who the good guys are right away. ... Read more
Review:In London, the parents, friends, clan and servants of Prudence suffer from the wrath of the terrible two's. Making matters more difficult for others the toddler can "borrow" the supernatural powers of people by touching them until her soulless mom releases the stolen skills. That is why her parents, Alpha of the Woolsey werewolf clan Lord Conall and Lady Alexia, use mostly drones as servants as well as their friend vampire Lord Akeldama, who actually adopted the baby to help. Still the doting... Read more
Review:This book was an absolute delight. I picked it up in passing at the library, finished it in a few days and had to go out and buy it and the 2nd one!! Marta Acosta is definitely an author you can sink your teeth into...no pun intended. Not your average "vampire romance" story, Mrs. Acosta takes the known vampire cliches and twists them into a more believable tale. Her character development is phenomenal. You really feel as if you are getting to know these people personally. From the busty, beauti... Read more
Review:First, Gail Carriger can write. No, I mean, really write. In an era when anyone who can turn on a computer fancies himself or herself a writer, she's the real deal. Secondly, she has an amazingly inventive imagination. And third, she's hilarious! This is the best book in the series yet; which is saying something, as the others are also not to be missed. Review:Read this one, too (referring to the prior books in this series). You won't be sorry!
By now, we know the Maccons are going to find their way back to each other, but good story-telling is the means to the end. I love the unpredictable pathway of Miss Carriger. Very satisfying. Read more
Review:I was thoroughly entertained with Souless, the first book in Gail Carriger's series (The Parasol Protectorate) featuring Alexia Tarabotti and her oblivious romance with Lord Maccon, the alpha werewolf in London and head of werewolf/ghost/vampire investigations division. The humorous and zanny secondary characters were perfect for this lighthearted romance fare with a little mystery involved. I bought Changeless as soon as it was released and was disappointed. The zanny characters from Souless... Read more
