Mythology & Folk Tales
Review:Sensually written and differing from the original version of the story. I really hoped there would be an ending that would lead the reader to have interest in buying the next book by offering a thrilling possibility. That aside, I will say that I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to see what happens at the conclusion of the first week of the new "agreement". Read more
Review:The first and the second book were outstanding. This one however, was hard to finish. How long can you draw out the preparations for the feast? It was almost painful. After the feast the story gets better with a subtle ending, but nothing impressive. I'm disappointed because I truly thought the writer was going to give an impeccable story from beginning to end. Review:Another great addition the S E Smith's library. Love it! I especially loved the expression of love towards the end of the book. HIGHLY recommend you add this book to your library! Cannot wait for the next addition. Read more
Review:An excellant retelling of a childhood fairytale in a manner that makes sense for adults. Really people can be as crazy this girl's mother was. But even as vain as she was she did care for the potential spouse of her husband that she would leave a widow. He also seemed to really care for her and that was what made his basically a good person until he commited such an evil act on his own daughter. Evidently they were pretty attentive to the people they ruled but had no idea how to be parents.<... Read more
Review:I'm really enjoying this series. Richelle Mead has done a great job creating this urban fantasy series, with complex characters, great plots, surprising plot twists, and of course, a love triangle. My only complaint is that I have to wait for each book to come out. I really love it when I can read an entire series back to back!
Comparisons between the Dark Swan series and Vampire Academy are inevitable, at least for me. How can I not compare Adrian the royal Moroi and Dorian the fairy... Read more
Review:Oh my god! This book was fantastic. I always love reading a book from a different perspective and this was a perfect read. It didn't even take me a day to get through. The best part about Laura Thalassa's books is that they're really hard to put down. I love that the book covers so much of Des's life and I just love when it starts to coincide with Rapsodic!
Anyways, Laura Thalassa did an amazing job with this book and I can't wait for the next book! Read more
Review:See my customer images.
The pages have gold-leafed edges, and there is a ribbon bookmark. There is also some metallic on the cover, and the illustrations on the inside are great. I have not read the text (giving it as a gift for a new baby), but the type is easy to read. The paper is of the super-thin Norton Anthology/Bible variety (hence the 4 stars), but anything thicker would make the book large and heavy, so understood. That said, read it to your kids, but don't let them play with it ... Read more
Review:I for one am tired of searching for serious fantasy stories and coming up with preteen tripe. This was a predictable story with all the expected obstacles of young adult romance. I couldn't identify with the characters as they had little to no true depth. I wish reviewers would indicate their age groups because I can't imagine anyone more mature than a high schooler could really enjoy this story. Read more
Review:I enjoyed this novel. It's a playful adaptation of an old favourite but the twists and turns are clearly the author's own. Lots of magic as you'd expect, an evil king and a love interest, but that's probably where the similarities end. It's definitely Disney for grown ups. Read more
Review:I certainly recommend this book to all who have loved Lord of the Rings, Narnia, the Shanara Chronicles, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Martian Chronicles etc.. Great characters and story line. Written well. An easy fun adventure read. Read more
