Review:I enjoyed this book but was disappointed at the sudden ending. I was left with a need to know more about what happened when he left home and if he ever returned. It makes me feel such anger at the way apartheid was so accepted by the white South Africans. Read more
Review:I was fascinated by Michaels story- I can see how most definitions of Surrender would make his life story hard to accept. Seems as though his commitment to peace and allowing was more important than fear, resistance and control. I believe we have a life story that is even better and with less struggle than our ego's will to make life fit some goal or plan. Read more
Review:My late paternal great-aunt, 1/4 unknown European and 3/4 Chinese was the only grand-family that my father counted on financially since the sudden death of his father at age of 8 in 1945. She was mean and tended to verbally abuse her own family and even step-family who later supported her at old age. Review:This was a funny book that showed the crazy things that happen on oil rigs around the world. I like the fact that the author is honest about his feelings concerning the oil industry and shows how people work in dangerous conditions to get the product to the market. The writing style is easy to read and very entertaining, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it for someone who just wants a light book to pass the time. Read more
Review:I thought Eminem would be talking more about his life, growing up and finally giving some instight into his personal life, but instead its a book with alot of pictures that repeats itself over and over. The book took me a day to read thats how little actual writing is in it. If you want a book with alot of pics then this is good for you Read more
Review:Alternating candor and reserve, this book reminded me of the best in Gordon's singing and songwriting. For the past twenty years, she has been such an inspiration to me -- this book only increased my admiration while bringing her humanity to light. Read more
Review:Assata a woman of strength and endurance. I took my time reading this because it was about someone's life and her struggles. We have not conquered the woes of this book. The journey has not ended. Love is still a word a lot of people do not know. Read more
Review:This book was required reading for a multicultural education course I took to receive my teaching certification. This literary text is rich in personal voice and magnifies the mental obstacles and fortitude endured by African Americans of this time. I recommend this book to anyone but also encourage its use in the high school classroom. Read more
Review:This book captures and analyses several significant events in the post-Revolutionary War period that shaped the young republic. Mr. Ellis effectively conveys the personalities and circumstances in which they worked and strived to advance their positions, though some of the analysis extends beyond storytelling to historical debate, something better appreciated by scholars than the average reader.
