Storm of Steel: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition)
Storm of Steel: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition)

Review:Since its publication in 1920, Storm of Steel, written by Ernst Junger, has been surrounded by controversy. Many have misunderstood Junger and accused him of attempting to glorify war. I saw no evidence of the glorification of war in his book. Junger has obviously been desensitized to violence does not show much emotion to the atrocities of war that he witnesses. However, I did see evidence of compassion and a longing for the life that he had before the war.
I finished this book in less than... Read more

Life, Death, and Redemption in an American Prison
Life, Death, and Redemption in an American Prison

Review:I met Shaka through social media and then in person at a party celebrating his 1st year of freedom. I have read all of his books and enjoyed each of them. However, Writing My Wrongs hit close to home. I have a brother in prison serving a life sentence for murder. Shaka was in several of the same facilities my brother has been in. His memoir has me wondering what my brother's life is like and has me wanting to know his story. I stopped visiting and writing to my brother years ago but after ... Read more

If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer
If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer

Review:I read this book because the Goldman's owned the book and OJ did not profit from it. Although the book was not well written, it gave a look into the mind of someone that murdered two people. The book revealed him to be self absorbed and a true narcissist that cared only about himself. Read more

The Extraordinary Story of the Woman Who Saved 2 - 500 Children from the Warsaw Ghetto

Review:"I have read Life in a Jar" which was great....this went into more depth...but giving you the reality of the horrific time and just what evil some monsters can wield on en entire race of people just because of a different religious beliefs! Then on the positive side to see the sacrifices some will give for strangers endangering themselves and their families. and Priorities of a Winning Life - The Principles

Review:“Quiet Strength” is a wonderfully written book by Tony Dungy who is the first African American coach to win a super bowl. Dungy speaks of what it took for him to overcome adversity to battle through and accomplish the unthinkable.
Dungy does an unbelievable job of expressing his feelings and emotions describing his upbringing and the amount of adversity he had to face. The thing I love most about this book is how Dungy was calm throughout the challenges that he faced for right and wrong. I f... Read more

An Informal Education in Business and Life (Miniature Editions)

Review:The content of this book is great, but this is some sort of collectible, the size of your palm or a matchbox. The sellers should be penalized by Amazon for not putting that detail in the title (or AT LEAST the details). Buy the real book, unless you're seeking to fill the shelves of your dollhouse bookcase. The Good War: An Oral History of World War II
The Good War: An Oral History of World War II

Review:Studs Terkel is one of the most interesting journalists I have ever read. I picked up this book for my college US History class and I read far more entries than the ones assigned to us. Getting a clear picture of World War II is very difficult, especially given the nature of primary sources (like film reels advocating women to go to work, or whatever) which assert that the War was indisputably the "Good War." Through Terkel's book I have learned that WWII was much more complicated than a simp... Read more

Outsider in the White House
Outsider in the White House

Review:This book was originally written in the mid-90s and this version has been updated with a Introduction and Afterward. What really surprised me is that Bernie Sanders has been saying the same thing and fighting for the same issues his whole life and his whole political career. This book really portrays Sanders' passion for creating a society that benefits everyone and truly convinces me that he genuinely cares about the middle class. It's a quick read, but a little heavy on the acknowledgements... Read more

My Journey into the Heart of Scriptural Faith and the Land Where It All Began
My Journey into the Heart of Scriptural Faith and the Land Where It All Began

Review:I've always been a fan of Kathy Lee Gifford, I was watching the Today Show when she spoke of her book. As I was listening to her, you could feel the compassion she felt in writing this book and her love for God. Her faith in God shines through and as she is talking I knew this was a book I needed to read. So bought this book that day and started reading it right away . The way she wrote this book was like her sitting here and talking to me. I couldn't put it down. I am ashamed to say I d... Read more

You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) - A Memoir

Review:Felicia Day is one of those people who is famous for all the right reasons. She's smart, witty and just has that enduring presence that makes you feel right with the world.

Reading her story was most enlightening. I don't want to got into spoilers here but I will just simply say that she's just as weird as the rest of us.

So many celebrities seem less real and approachable, Felicia is not like that at all and this book really opens up her world to the rest of us.

I am still... Read more
