Review:A well written book with facts and opinions explained in context of situation. This book made me re-think of a lot of ideas I earlier has about Gandhi. Though, I do not agree with many of his experiments, he does make one believe that his motive after every one of them was finding the truth of things. The universality of compassion towards all beings is infectious. Read more
Review:I have always been intrigued by the warriors of times long past. Partly out of respect and partly because I never served our United States by being in the military. That will haunt me for the rest of my life. These WARRIORS did it out of duty to God and Country. At a time when that actually meant something. The Spec Ops Warriors with that determination and grit I'm afraid are a thing of the past. Sure, there will still be those few who carry that honor for the rest of us but not like the p... Read more
Review:My early impression is that the book is thorough, well researched and presents a very plausible hypothesis, but it seems a bit disjointed in that there could be clearer distinction between hard evidence and anecdotes. I may have a more detailed comment after further study Read more
Review:This is a very good book; it is short, thoughtful, pointed and easy to read. In short, colonists rallied to revolution, but not to nationhood. Ellis argues that the evidence shows that forming a corporate nation was the vision and the work-product of a few good men, but only a fe... Read more
Review:Excellent book. Had to put it aside a couple times reading it, the injustice made me so mad. This book is a good antidote to this who think blacks had it good in the old South. Jim Crow was tyranny pure and simple and this book depicts it well. Marshall and the NAACP lawyers really were heroes but they weren't miracle workers and the good guys mostly lost as we see in the book. Read more
Review:This book is wonderful but sad and horrific concerning the things that have happened to african american women. The book is detailed so you must be able to read about gang rape, etc. If these issues are a trigger for you then reading this book is not a good idea. Certain parts made me cringe, and I had to stop reading at certain parts. With all of that said, it is a great read because it gives you another point of view of Rosa Parks and not just the Bus Boycott. She accomplished so much more ... Read more

Review:I bought this as a Christmas gift for my brother. The shipping estimate said 10 days, but I received it in about 4, in time for Christmas, and it arrived in perfect shape. I do not doubt that it would be an interesting read. Read more
Review:Moorehead's accounting of the French resistance people, and especially the young women, is heart-breaking. It is hard to believe that the world went through such a horrible experience. The descriptions of the death camps by those who survived are not sugar-coated. Moorehead gives such detailed descriptions, as told by the women who lived through it, the reader fully grasps the horror. Read more
