Economics
Review:Brilliant, well written, easy to digest, and an easy to understand explanation of the free market system. A perfect book for those just becoming "economically literate" with concepts that translate even to high school aged readers. Read more
Review:Sarah has a tagline "Funny, because it's true." (Sorry, is that trademarked?) This book had me laughing out loud over and over because, YES, it's SO true. Many of us have unknowingly been following Sarah's advice for years and have built stellar careers on these principles. You'll read a little vignette, and then nod, grin and say "I know that guy... he works here..." Sarah describes small, subtle quirks of human behavior that I'll bet you've seen in YOUR workplace. You should get a couple ... Read more
Review:Justice demands that small businessmen be reduced to corporate employees
According to Ayn Rand: “Every ugly, brutal aspect of injustice toward racial or religious minorities is being practiced toward businessmen” (41). Even if there is some validity in the claim that big business is sometimes treated unfairly, this is childish hyperbole. America has not yet had a policy of genocide against big business so Christians can steal their property. The government has not yet issued a decree ... Read more
Review:Excellent book. Andrew keeps it concise and packed with discussion and examples of core concepts necessary to learning the trade. I first listened to it on Audible and immediately knew I'd want the Kindle version for highlighting and note taking. My second read through on Kindle reinforced those key concepts, and because it wasn't 8,000 pages of theory or self-promotion (like many other similar books) I really got a lot out of it. I felt it was certainly worth the time and investment, and I ... Read more
Review:I am an Economics majors student and I found some (like 7 out of 10 times) solutions/reasons given by the author pertaining to the problems unreasonable or rather absurd, let me start from the Environmentalist essay.
The author sounds too traditional, unlike an economist he writes, whatever his daughter learned in school he overturned it like the one regarding sharing transportation or recycling(R), of recycling(R) he gives some study (subsequently supports it too) that no. of trees fall if R... Read more
Review:The many quotations from people who are familiar from recent history, from Kennedy to Bernanke, make this book extremely interesting to read. At the same time it is witty. You learn practical things, for example, why are tickets for a round trip flight cheaper when there is a weekend in between.
I have just started reading the book and am looking forward to hours of pleasure and insight and learning.
I recommend the book to everybody who is not an expert in economy him- or her-self.
Review:Chris Hayes has penned a book that contains the same breadth of perspective and depth of inquiry that made "Up" so much fun to watch. He has identified a critical element of our current intellectual and political malaise, and explores it with interesting insight and analysis. It's too soon to tell if his prediction about how we might find our way out of the mess we're in will come true, but I hope it will - the problem he describes is real and dire, and if we can't find the way toward a new meth... Review:This Classic work on success is timeless. Though one can tell that it is from the 1950's the message is still and will remain accurate and rewarding. Take the 30 day test and your life will change for the better. Read more
Review:Before you purchase this book know what it is not. This is not a comprehensive listing of every influential economist of the past 200 years. This is not an assessment of capitalism or an endorsement of any one point of view on political economy.
What this book is is a look at various influential economic thinkers of the past 200 years and an attempt to put their ideas regarding economics into the context of the worlds that they lived in. What I liked about this book was not that it com... Read more
Review:The Internet of Money is absolutely fascinating. Not only does Andreas make bitcoin technology and concepts understandable, but in giving them historical context, I’m even learning about OLD tech! I may be late to the party, but I’m catching up. I only wish there was more of it. Luckily, I have Volume 2 ready to go. Read more
