Review:Trying to learn piano on my own was not working out, so I've started up with a teacher I like a lot, and she recommended this book. I like that it's getting me all over the keyboard early on. Even though it's Beginner level, the music is interesting and varied, and it provides nice little duets to play with my teacher. Finally, I feel like I'm making progress. Read more
Review:I can't believe I didn't read this book sooner than at the age of 28!! Mr. Angone has really honed in on what it is to be in your 20's and actually living or the feeling that you aren't living at all. Mr Angone has so many golden nuggets in this book that it is hard to mention JUST ONE. This is a book that I will be referencing for a while, but also a book that I will give to all high school graduates. He is very honest and transparent throughout this book and his life experiences truly navigate... Read more
Review:You can judge this book by its title. It is a classic effort detailing the follies of mass psychology. The author is successful in showing how a crowd of rational thinking people act completely irrationally as trends become popular and people are psyched to believe that they are the gospels of truth. The real life events in this book are the basis for the study of group dynamics and psychology. It is written in great detail, so for those who love studying and learning from history, this is great... Read more
Review:This is a collection of very short and amusing anecdotes about historical topics. Each is very loosely tied to the next one by some common idea. Reading this book is rather like eating popcorn. It is mildly tasty but addicting. It is a good book for times when you are too tired or bored to take on anything serious. Read more
Review:I remember all of the people and flights well from my youth. The insights the author provides are eye opening, but make sense in retrospect. I'm just not a fan of his writing style. I get the sense that he, as the story teller, considers himself a part of the story. He is not. Sorry Tom, not a fan. Read more
Review:The recipient loved it! I read most of it before I had to give it up for a Christmas present, it features Yogi's best gems, plus some backstory on the context, which was really neat. A great gift for fans of old-school baseball and the crazy men who played it. Read more
Review:Postman's book is a harsh diatribe against the television industry and its effects on intellectual discourse in the United States. Postman argues that television, especially when compared to the written word, cannot foster deep, rational thought in its viewers, because it requires absolute passivity from them. Television can only be about entertainment, and its cultural dominance, Postman argues, has had negative effects on education, politics, and religion.
The first half the book dedica... Read more
Review:I love this coloring book! Got it as a gift for my step daughter & if she doesn't use it I'm going to!! The pictures are so detailed-the longer you look at them, the more you see. After the enjoyment of simply looking at the artwork-coloring it will be even more fun! Read more
Review:I actually bought this book for my mom. I read this book in English and immediately fell in love. I honestly could not put it down and it got to the point where I was reading it at work and getting frustrated when customers would ask me for help and prevent me from reading more, haha! I thought my mom might enjoy the story as well but didn't want to make it 'homework' by giving her my English copy so I bought her the Spanish version so that she would read for pleasure. She loves it and finished ... Read more
Review:I would have given it a 5 star rating but the list isn't correct. There are two movies that are in the book but are not in the checklist at the beginning of the book: Shadow of A Doubt and The Dark Knight. Read more
