Review:Life goes on for Bertie, Matthew, Elspeth and Big Lou. Another delightful Alexander McCall book. This book, like all of the others
written by McCall Smith is filled with endearing characters and much wisdom sprinkled in for good measure. A true treasure!! Read more
Review:Simply put, i would not have CONSIDERED finishing this book if it didn't have Moore's name on the cover. Had i only known ... i wouldn't recommend this book, even as a remainder hardcover or a half-price paperback--I certainly wouldn't recommend paying the $10 both Amazon and B&N want for the digital version. Review:Slyly humorous view of the true meaning of personal Hell. Thomas Edison doing pick-and-shovel work. Florence Nightingale -- what's she doing here? Lots of clever references. You have to pay attention. Very enjoyable read. Read more
Review:Amazing story that gripped me till the very end. Ms. Pat is an inspiration to all women and those who weren’t born with a silver spoon. No matter what, never, ever, ever give up is a great motto for this riveting book! I couldn’t put it down and loved the various characters who influenced Ms. Pat. A true window to poverty on a whole new level. Read more

Review:Read all of Anne Tyler's novels. Enjoyed each and every one. However this story seemed a little off to me. As though she was straining to fit the characters in to a plot they may not have belonged. I still can't get enough of her books and do hope there are more to come Read more
Review:Sounded like an interesting book to read and perhaps share with my daughter who is off to college. I was disappointed. Book is boring and uninteresting. The one star is for the book design and artwork. Don't waste your money Read more
Review:The social elites of the inter-war period in England provide a rich tapestry on which a tragic and sardonic tale is told. Waugh breathes life into characters who are extreme in their vanity, yet tragically susceptible and frail. The result is one of the classic satirical novels of the last century. Readers who enjoy the deliberate and biting style of George Orwell will find Waugh a dear addition to their literary diet. Read more
