Fantastic cutting edge book by my favorite health teacher, who's advice turned my life around 8 years ago.
Forget government & doctors' dietary propaganda - this is the real deal (but only if you want to be healthy & disease-free without really trying & dump all your medications).

Dr. Mercola's insight is always refreshing. I share his concepts with everyone I know. Unfortunately, so many have been railroaded by big foods and big Pharma and our govt., that they think the truth is conspiracy.

This is a great and informative read. I learned about WHY the MMT diet could be beneficial to me, and had ideas how to implement in approachable ways; slowly reducing carbs, knowing what to avoid, and most importantly to me how to maintain appropriate protein levels. I have a keto sister, and she and I have had great talks about what we have learned from keto and MMT.

Highly recommend.

I work for a research University and this book covers all my questions. It is well written, comprehensive and informative. If you need to heal from an illness or you just want to get healthier, this book is for you. I would recommend this to anyone who has been vaccine injured as this diet seems to be helping so many children who have been damaged. Please remember to be wise and read the entire book before starting the diet and consult your physician if you have questions.

Great book! Very technical, and I would not buy it for my Kindle again. Am thinking about buying the hard copy because there is so much info to refer back to and I can't find it on the Kindle very quickly!

I like the diet. Hard to follow completely though. Have me hardcore stomach cramps for weeks at one point. Wasn't till I started carb loading on the weekends that they went away. Magnesium also help A LOT

Very good explanation of a keto diets role in cancer care. I also liked that Dr Mercola doesn't subscribe to a one size fits all philosophy. I believe many things contribute to health and healing. No one thing, except God, will take care of it all. Diet plays a huge part. We have become so out of balance with our nutrition that we need guidelines to get back to good nutrition.

An easy read, great information. Clear instructions that make this an easy transition if you have the mind to try it. Otherwise the information is still valuable to understand the balancing of nutrition.

It's difficult to blaze a new trail through today's dietary obstacles. It's not for the faint. Many will give up because it requires sacrifice, but they do so at their own peril. Dr. Mercola has created a map with scientific rational.

The book is technical and I imagine controversial to some (including my doctor), but I'm willing to try at least some of the protocol. I see the need for the recommended gear, measuring, weighing, and record-keeping, but I'm not sure I will be as precise and non-spontaneous as Dr. Mercola thinks I should be.

I'd like to know why certain foods are not allowed at first, for instance onions and garlic. I will follow advice that makes sense to me. The acronyms are not in the index, so I've been keeping a list. I do appreciate the references. I wish the interviews weren't shaded. They're hard to read. Homemade multigrain bread--I don't understand how even it can be so restricted. I shop, grow, and eat organic, and so I agree with that advice, and I use coconut and olive oil already, but I'm glad to have cream and pasture-raised butter back and not to be worrying about total cholesterol as long as my HDL is good. The chapter on iron was eye-opening to me and makes sense, so I'm curious to get the serum ferritin test result.

Ignoring my doctor's warning to wear sunscreen won't be easy, but I agree Vitamin D from the sun is essential. I like intermittent fasting and limiting the eating window to about seven or so hours. Mercola sells supplements, but here he seems to discourage most of them. If following his advice can reverse diabetes and prevent cancer, it's worth a try.

Nobody can afford not to read this book. It should be part of public health education in all countries world wide. It is horrifying how the pharmaceutical industry is exploiting so many "chronic diseases" when so many of them can be cured with information given in this book.

Very informative and enlightening. I did not realize that we are primarily designed to use fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. I did not realize that if we do this we will become less sick and even live longer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve his or her health.

This is an interesting and scientifically informative approach to maintaining and possibly vastly improving health. It is a bit complicated to do it absolutely correctly by measuring levels of insulin, etc. even if you aren't diabetic...I would have liked to have a meal planner to get started off with in the right direction...guess you have to buy another book...

Dr. Mercola nails it again. He is always steps ahead of the wellness industry. I was on the fence, 4 stars or 5, wish there was a 4.5 :-)
The writing seemed to go on and on in some areas, but overall good info.

It is an interesting book. I have always liked Dr. Mercola's new letters. I learned a lot from his book. I don't have a weight problem but a Ketogenic
diet I believe would be good for any one. I would recommend the book to anyone interested in health.

This book explained why this approach is far superior to the other diets I have tried. Unlike the previous diets, this time I was not hungry after the first few days. I also did not feel as drained after the first few days as I have in the past. I have lost 24 pounds in 6 weeks eating this way and look forward to the delicious meals I can eat.

Good product! Highly recommended! Mercola lays out a plan in this book for you to take charge of your health. BTW, I'm 57, 185 lbs. I run distance, and I work out 6 days a week. This plan helps make that possible.

Avoiding cancer is a lot easier and tastes better than dying with the other 50% of American's who eat the Main-Stream-Television-Food. There's no shortcut to reading this whole book and it has a few $50 dollar words in it but you'll be happy you did.

This book has been really good for my health. Thank you Dr. Mercola for this comprehensive review and explanation of the ketogenic diet combined with intermittent fasting. This was a revelation for me, and has been the easiest diet I have ever tried, with probably the best results long term.

I have read a number of excellent books on developing a heathy low carb and how fat diet and bought this one to understand in more detail. It has been very helpful to me in practical next steps to continuing to improve my health and losing weight in a way that is sustainable.

Excellent book. The content is scientifically accurate and the advice works 100%. All of the claims have citations in the back of the book with reputable sources. America needs to champion a book like this to fix the diabetes/heart disease epidemic (and perhaps many forms of cancer too) that countries like Japan and France seem to avoid.

Three stars because anything less will probably discourage people from reading it and it does have valuable and useful information. I am not onboard with the diet, however. This diet (and the rest of them) will not be good for, nor work for, many. We have to remember that we're all different and cannot consume the same foods for individual optimum health. Men and woman vary greatly, too, in their needs. I've been a healthy eater for quite a while, eating much along the lines of what is advised in this book and still it was too much for me to embrace. It's expensive; it's high oxalate; it's very low carb; it requires lots of tracking and testing by you as well as perhaps some screening tests by your doctor and ultimately a health coach if you can't do it on your own. No practical diet should require a coach. Most will overdo the nuts and seeds (high phytate). (Come on, adding many multiple tablespoons of misc. seeds daily as Dr. Mercola does is not natural - if you need to add all that then the diet is not serving your body well. What's good for one part of your body is good for ALL parts of your body.) So yes, don't overeat meat, eat lots of the good fats, include lots of vegetable variety, just know that vegetables, pound for pound, are not nutrient dense. To suggest that one should not include sweet potatoes and most varieties of fruit, or a little local honey, doesn't sit well with me. Are we supposed to chose foods off the given list that are out-of- season and trucked/flown in instead of nourishing our bodies with seasonally grown, local potatoes, tomatoes, winter squash, mandarins, carrots, beets, or whatever else is grown in your area and loaded with nutrition? It doesn't make sense to me to chose based on what class of macronutrient the food belongs to rather than the nutritional density of that food. All foods nourish us, as long as we pay attention to what does and doesn't do our very own body good. When did eating become so complicated and technical? I want to enjoy the preparation and eating of meals, not get anxious or compulsive about it. There's nothing wrong with an occasional bed of white rice covered with beautiful vegetables and loaded with a healthy fat. I don't see anything wrong with the occasional slice of traditional, properly prepared sourdough bread either. If you are lucky enough to live where you can purchase raw milk, and you do well with it, then it would be crazy to not have it in your diet. Think all this through. The broader the diet, the healthier the individual. So draw a line in the sand - no processed junk from the store, no white sugar garbage, no transfats. Be selective and discerning in your choices and watch and listen to yourself. I won't stop reading Dr. Mercola's stuff but I won't be buying any more diet books, either.

Great book for those who are serious about going keto.
Be prepared to be disciplined and fastidious at least for the first couple of months.
In the process of moving, so I am not in a position to follow the regimen right now.
But Mercola lays out the 'What', and for me more importantly, the 'Why' and 'How' of what he suggests in easy to understand detail..

Of read close to one hundred books on health, diet and weigh loss. This book along with Jason Fung's Obesity Code are the best. This book explains the benefit of ketosis. Read these two books, put them in practice, and you will be amazed at the results.

This book is very informative. I have learned a lot about the mitochondria. I am in the process of changing my life style/diet to a ketogenic diet. However, I have read that this diet doesn't work for everybody.

Dr. Mercola is such an important resource for those of us who want answers and direction in our habits - for both food and exercise. He's invaluable to those of us who wish to "take charge of our health."

Simply superb. This book can change your life and your level of health. If you can only buy one book this should be the one. I am diabetic and this has helped me to keep myself in check. My wife has lost 23 pounds in 10 weeks. You can get fit and healthy and not be hungry. No more cravings.

I didn't even finish reading it. The activities required are wholly unrealistic for the average person. Huge out-lay of expenses, obsessive measuring and monitoring---perfect for people with eating disorders who want even more control
