I usually don't write reviews, but this book warrants that I do. I thought this book was great. It is written at a level any young child can understand. To me, the main message to the reader is you are loved and cared for no matter which house you are living. The illustrations are wonderful. I recommend this book to parents/grandparents for children dealing with divorce. My grandchildren are 8 and 4 and this book is a great help to them in understanding their situation.

I can't say enough good things about this book... it is exactly the kind of message that a young child needs to hear when parents split up. I bought it for my nearly-three-year-old when he began spending overnights at his dad's house, and he frequently requests it. I'm now buying another copy for him to keep at his dad's place.

This book is just right for little children who share a home with Mum and a home with Dad. The cleverly drawn illustrations are not gender specific - the child can be identified as a little girl with short hair or as a little boy with quite long hair. The story is a happy one with the child as narrator describing how s/he has two front doors, two bedrooms, Mummy's friends and Daddy's friends etc. In fact it is such a positive story that you get the impression that this little person is in an envious position - the narrator certainly believes so!

This book is very simple. It talks about having two rooms, two chairs, two houses. It's just a matter of fact book saying this is what I have at Daddy's and this is what I have at Mommy's house. It doesn't talk about divorce or why he has two homes. I felt this was perfect for my 4 year old daughter. She related to the book and it's ideas and that is all she needed.

One of the best books for children who spend time with both parents but whose parents are not together, whether due to divorce, or whether they never lived together. No preaching, no "explaining," just showing, with lovely illustrations, a child with 2 homes. This normalizes the experience for the reader (or one being read to) and helps them accept having two homes. I am a child therapist with many children whose parents are divorced or separated. This book is usually the first book on the topic that I read to children. It introduces the subject in a non-threatening way, easing the transition into books that go into more depth. Highly recommended.

Our son, who is almost 3, is beginning to understand that our family is a little different than other kids. His father and I have never lived together since he was born, so he hasn't known a different arrangement. But he has begun to ask more questions about whether daddy will sleep over or will mommy come visit when he's at daddy's. This book is remarkable in that it depicts many of our realities -- right down to that dad has a rocking chair for the little kid and mom has a cushy chair. Written without any saccharine or over-wrought explanations. Just clear communication that the kid gets to have two similar but different and all-loving homes. I also like that the child is gender-neutral. "Alex" can be either a girl or boy, both by name and appearance.

I am a divorced mother of two children. Its been hard to find book that are simple and yet have a postive loving message. I found this book to be very helpful for my children. It explains on their level that they are going to live life in two different loving homes. MY personal experience of going through divorce with children has been to make them feel that they are loved and that their life will be a little different.

This is a sweet, gentle book written for toddlers whose parents are divorcing. Two parents, two homes, two places for the child to stay can seem overwhelming. But then too, there are advantages. This book speaks about those.

This book helped my 5 year old granddaughter right after her parents split. It was good for her to see that other kids live in the same situation. She was able to identify with the two homes that her world became.

Highly recommend this book for other divorced parents with young children. My son and daughter both have really latched onto this book and has helped them to understand that there are other children in the same situation as them. Provides a good example of how the kids can have fun and be happy at both mom and dad's house.

This book has proven invaluable for our little child who was finding the separation tough going.
Now he better understands the changes occurring in his world and he isn't the only child that goes through this sort of thing.
A lot of bedtime stories end in our household with 'Two Homes'
