Cori Salchert has more physical ailments than most people could dream of, in a very bad nightmare. As a result, she cannot do her regular job so decides instead to help babies who are dying of terminal illnesses. With eight children of their own, Cori convinces her family that this is something that they can and should do. The first baby that they decide to help is Emmalynn, a small baby that cannot function on her own because her brain was not fully formed before birth. With the full knowledge that this child will die in their care, Cori is determined that this child will know love as she passes into eternity, that she will not die alone. This is not only a commitment of time; it is a commitment of love and of the heart. This poignant story is told with all of the realistic details that reach out and grab the reader, making one want to help the family love this child. But the story doesn’t stop with Emmalynn. Cori has her mind established on helping one child after another, all of whom are going to die. The children cannot be healed, but Cori’s heart that has suffered rejection her entire life can be touched and healed and the process though which this takes place is charming and inspirational. The reader will cheer for Cori and her family while reading in awe the story of a woman who has to overcome so many physical obstacles in order to be able to help the “least of these.”

I Will Love You Forever by Cori Salchert with Marianne Hering is “A True Story about Finding Life, Hope and Healing While Caring for Hospice Babies”.
Cori trained as nurse and then became a bereavement specialist in the maternity wing of the local hospital. She works with families whose children are born prematurely and unable to survive, stillborn or those who survive for a short time. Her main goal is for the dignity and respect of the child as well as the family members. Due to her own serious health issues she has had to leave her position. The same day she collects her things she is invited to visit as child who has been relinquished to the state by her parents and is not expected to live long. Cori and her family take the child in, give her a name and care for her all the days she has left. This begins a journey of God healing Cori’s broken heart through caring for hospice babies.
This story is very inspirational and one I could not put it down. I give this a solid 5 of 5 stars as it is well-written, and compiled in a logical manner. The family members, mainly Cori, share their shortcomings as well as what has gone well; they openly show their love, pain and at times frustrations.

This book is a powerful story that reflects the heart of God and tells of the hope we have of trusting Him in all seasons and reasons. The author shares intimate details of her experiences. Some are funny and others leave you in a puddle of tears. The book is a deep and heavy read, it's not for someone looking for something light. The author tells how she found comfort through God's Word. There are no easy solutions and the author has to trust in God's time and wisdom. I Will Love You Forever is a powerful story and testament to an amazing woman.

I have family who foster children with special needs, open their homes to those in need, and work with the homeless. My heart warms with their compassion. I have read many books that shared real life experiences, and some have moved me to tears. This amazing book will both warm your heart and move you to tears.
Cori and Mark Sachert open their hearts and their homes to Hospice babies. In this book written with Marianne Hering, Cori shares openly the vulnerability, the fears and most importantly the love and joy her family experiences with these children. When the Sachert family opens their home…and their hearts, to a child it is with the knowledge that that child may live only hours or days. Nevertheless during that time they become family, surrounding the child with every bit as much love and prayers as for their own children.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. And then I recommend that you share the book with those in your church family, your coworkers, friends and acquaintances who foster children or who are thinking of fostering children.

Cori’s story of overcoming debilitation health issues beyond imagination and the effect it had on her and her family is amazing. Their struggles brought them together as a family able to reach out to Emmalynn and Charlie and many of the children who needed hospice care. God allows terrible things to happen to us to mold us and make us into what He wants us to be. He molds us so we can make a difference in this world. Cori certainly has!

There are brave, beautiful people in this world who go beyond what most of us think we can possibly do. This family is one of those.
When Cori Salchert quotes Philippians 4:13, “For I can do everything through Christ Who gives me strength, she means it. She’s experienced it.
The words that kept going through my mind as I read this verse were “But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.” (1Corinthians 13:13)
This is an unforgettable book. Keep a box of tissues beside you as you read. You may even have to pause reading for awhile, but you’ll be glad you read about their continuing journey.

As I read this book, I was amazed at the way that God called Cari to minister to His Special Babies that would only be on Planet Earth for a short visit. Her background with nursing, experience in having a disabled sister, and being a sufferer herself gave the grace she needed to give love which could only come from her relationship with God. The recipients to the gift of her gracious home and family responded as only they could to her open-heartedness.
I highly recommend this book as a inspirational read especially during the time of Lent which is when I read this book. One could never forget the experience of reading this book as it will work its way into your life and make it better.

Cori Salchert shares her emotions and reactions to the trauma in her early life. Through the caring and love of children no one wants she is able to heal of her past torments. The book is well written and contains information on how to heal through faith in God. Even though it is sad in that many of the babies die shortly after their births, the love and compassion shown these children is vital to their souls. I think this is a well presented aspect of human life and growth and the importance of touch and love for all God’s children.

Cori Salchert's self portrait of her physical, emotional & spiritual struggles along with her desire to foster hospice babies. She lost a sister when she was young and tries to heal through helping other special needs babies who no one else wants. Cori and her family struggle with their own physical issues, but continue to help others.

This book will restore your faith in God, humanity and love. Cori's love of God is evident through every word she writes and results in a heart-warming, tear-jerking and sometimes delightfully humorous story of a mother's love. You will genuinely feel a whirlwind of a emotions while reading this book, but it will be well worth it. A great story told by an incredibly inspiring woman.

Nothing against the book as I just received it but it’s not even the final edit of the book which I don’t see that stating anywhere in the description that an advance review copy was being sent. The photos are black and white. Pretty upset.

Because of the subject matter, the true story is difficult to read at times—not because of technical language but because of the emotional material. The authors have made the writing very accessible to readers, and I believe this account of bravery and faith is worthy of your attention.
