This is a beautiful book for bedtime. You can read it at whatever pace suits you. There are so many things to see in each of the lovely illustrations. We had fun picking out the same people in each picture as the day progressed. Lovely.

This is a beautiful book. I first shared it with 4th graders; they loved the illustrations and quiet language.
I brought it to the beach to share with my 20 month old grandson, and he loved it too. As I read it I connected it to things we had done like go to a restaurant or fill a pail with water at the beach. The connection of old and young was the strongest, of course.
I would recommend reading this to many different age groups for different purposes. You could add this book for a study of similar books, different authors--When the Relatives Came; Big Mama's; the Long Road. Also I can imagine using this with adults in a church group setting-- it can be read as a prayer of hope and love.

This is one of the most wonderful books about west coast California life with families of diverse varieties sharing the love of nature and each other in many healthy activities. It really is like a dream of California with few roads, cars or crowds where people are helpful, considerate and in tune with the Earth. I love this book and I have confidence that we all can encourage each other in bringing a slower, simple existence in these times of maxed out development, speed and stress. All The World is a fine example to emulate. I gave this book to a little girl and I will soon buy another copy.

In my opinion, this book couldn't be more beautiful. It's just as beautiful for your soul as it is for your eyes. Hands down the best children's book I've ever come across. I ordered a copy for every family I know.

The cadence is gorgeous. I love reading this out loud. The family is more reflective of my friends and family than any other children's book I've encountered. Between the stunning illustrations and poetry of the text, reading this book to a child is like creating a child-level performance piece every time. We probably read this almost every night for months at a time. Perfect images with which to drift off to sleep.

Love reading this book with our son. Beautifully drawn and filled with diverse characters engaged in healthy and community-centered activities. The text is rhythmically fun to read, and describes a positive way of being in the world; our 2.5-year-old son loves to extract a narrative and little sub-plots from the illustrations, and we notice new things all the time. It's tough to find super positive, diverse books that read naturally without seeming preachy. I've bought this one three times now, because we keep giving away our copy to friends. I expect to give it as a gift for years to come.

Beautifully illustrated book by the same illustrator as "Everywhere Babies" (a fantastic, fantastic book). My son (20 mos) is marginally interested in the story, so we make up our own to go with the pictures. Lots of love and multiculturalism on display in this book.

Love this book from flow of content introducing one to ocean/beach/farm life to the absolutely terrific artwork which flows from one area to the next bringing familiar people from one scene to another! Love it!

All The World is a true classic. The combination of Liz Garton-Scanlon's poetic writing and Marla Frazee's extraordinary illustrations is magnificent. There is a certain timelessness to this book. The people in the book are doing things that they could have been doing together for centuries (eating, going to the beach, gather to play music, going to the farmer's market, laughing, playing...). What I love the most about this book is that it truly does celebrate "All the World" - Babies, children, teens, parents, older adults, people of color, same sex couples, etc. It's showing what's real; we are all different and that's just right. Thank you Liz and Marla for creating such a masterpiece which reminds us all of what's important in life.

My three year old loves this book. The pictures are beautiful & full of interesting details. It takes about 1/2 an hour to read it to my son b/c he's so excited about what's going on in the pictures. It has inspired & guided many conversations. I highly recommend this book.

Beautiful illustrations but not much of a story. In fact, there isn't any story at all. Also, I find the text - not prose, but not quite a poem, either - to be difficult to read aloud. Subjective, I know, but it doesn't seem to flow. Bottom line: until my 15-month old twins are old enough to appreciate the illustrations in all their intricate and imaginative detail, there isn't much we can do with this book. A disappointment.
