Good information about cat language. I surprised myself in how much I had already perceived, being a first time cat parent. I guess if you are sensitive to animals and have always had pets (dogs and very tame parakeets) then that skill just transfers over to all one's pets. It could have gone further into the communication with cats. I've already surpassed the knowledge in this book and wanted to learn more.

Great for someone that needs sensitivity training.

I liked it very much. It is very informative and written to keep the intrest of the average person. It does not cover some of the "conversations" we have with our cats but not all cats are the same, just as all humans are not alike!
It took a long time to get the book but when I contacted the seller he explained what had happened with his supplier and refunded my shipping and handling fees to make it right for me. I truly appreciated that.

My daugher was thrilled with this book, except for the fact that it doesn't list the different meow sounds that cats make and what they mean. She was really hoping the book would talk about those sounds so she can "interpret" them. This book is mostly about feline body language.

I was tending my grand "kitties" when I came upon this book on my son's bookshelf. Since I'd been trying to tame a very unfriendly family of feral cats that had adopted us as their "humans" I was intrigued. What a great book!!! Thanks to the notes I'd taken as I read the book I was able to put into practice what I'd learned and began to "hear" what the wild cats were saying to me. We live on a farm and NEED to have good mousers around. Unless you too have a farm you can only imagine how thrilled I was as the extremely wild eyed and fearful mother cat eventually came to trust me. Her four kittens were able to hear me "speak" their "language" more quickly, but I was most thrilled when "Mrs. Kitty" began letting me scratch her neck and eventually pet her entirely. She will always be a little skittish, and I cannot pick her up, but that is okay. I now know that some cats do not want you to hold them, and if she ever changes her mind on that point she will "tell" me.

This book was reviewed by my 12 year old daughter for Mother Daughter Book Reviews.

DAUGHTER SAYS:

How to Speak Cat tells you a lot of ways that you can identify the language of cats. From now on, you will be able to tell what is going on inside your cat’s head! Ever wonder why your cat is rubbing its face on your leg? Ever wonder why your cat meows at the window? Well, you’re about to figure it all out!

If I had to describe the images in this book in one word, that one word would be “Adorable”. This book is filled with adorable pictures of cats. These images will make you go “awwww” or “so cute!!”, because what isn’t cute about cats?

I learned a lot from this book. Here are a few of the many things I learned:

I learned that by rubbing noses, cats can figure out information about the other thing is is rubbing noses with.
I learned that Kittens between the ages of 2-8 weeks must be held and petted every day or else they will remain wild.
I learned that when born, no matter what breed, cats have blue eyes.

I thought this book was really cute and cool and I learned a lot from it. I’m so happy that I read this because now, I can try and figure out what my cat wants from me. Wait… if I am right, my cat is acting like he wants some food right now! Well, I better go feed my cats!

I think that girls and boys ages 7 to 130 would like this book so if you turn 131 then that is too bad :( so read it while you can. (It is very helpful if you have a cat).

Disappointing because of lack of substance = not much here--the title is misleading--Borrow it from your local library or forget it altogether and you won't miss much. It has a few tidbits here and there.
