thank you for this wonderful book. i have just begun to learn to cook Indian food...and as I am to marry a man in India soon, this is perfect. I have made several recipes so far and they are delicious. Just bought a pressure cooker to cook the lentils faster and softer. This is key.

This is a favorite in our household! I have been vegan for 6 years now, and there are some meals that I thought I was going to have to give up for good. Some of my favorite classic Indian meat-based meals are something I wasn't able to have until I found this book. I have to day, I enjoy these plant based meals far better than I enjoyed anything I was eating before. I am so thankful to have a way to cook and eat some of my old favorite comforting curries and masalas, as well as some fun and new recipes!

I continue to prepare dishes from this cookbook, and have yet to find a single recipe that didn't hit a home run with my family.! This cookbook, along with Oh She Glows, are my two favorite! I just wish I would have found this cookbook sooner!

This is the first "physical" cookbook I have bought in a long time, as I rely extensively on the millions, maybe billions of online recipes. If you are vegan and love Indian food this is the cookbook for you. I am getting lots of compliment son my cooking lately! Highly recommend it.

I'm just transitioning to vegan from vegetarian and I have been wanting to cook the delicious Indian recipes I eat at my local Indian restaurant. My favorite is Palaak Paneer. This cookbook is wonderful. The recipes are accurate (a total pet peeve of mine), fast, delicious, I can't say enough. Don't be afraid to try this book. You won't fail. My husband ate two helpings of the vegan Palaak Tofu and he never does that. He was blown away by the flavors. Fantastic cookbook!

Vegan Richa has a most excellent food blog that I often go to for recipes. This book is worth having in any cookbook collection. It is beautifully photographed and full of delicious recipes that are not difficult to make. I highly recommend it.

I like recipes books with that perfect balance of tasty, interesting meals yet easy enough for a busy life. I love this cookbook. Everything I've tried is great and there are still several recipes I want to try. Full disclosure - I'm a carnivore and love meat, but have vegetarian and vegan relatives. It's good to be able to make dishes that I like, and everyone can eat. I invested in all the spices and don't regret it.

Finding this book may have been the reason I became vegan! The recipes are simply superb by any standard, and we are constantly in awe of the wonderful and unique tastes. Thanks you for your generosity and inspirational recipes!

This is an excellent introduction into Indian cuisine. I had never eaten Indian food prior to receiving this book. It encouraged me to explore Indian grocery stores in my area and begin eating at local Indian restaurants. What a delicious surprise! Richa Hingle is a very talented author with a gift for explaining "foreign" tastes, concepts, and techniques. She really deserves much credit for her efforts and, in my opinion, this book should be nominated for a prize. Thank you, Ms. Hingle, for encouraging me and, I'm sure, many others to step out of our comfort zones. What a delicious adventure I have begun! Highly recommend this book.

This book has replaced the Oh She Glows cookbook as my favorite cookbook - this is high praise indeed. My teenage son is on a diet to fix his gut and micro biome. This means that he cannot eat at restaurants and has many food restrictions including all grains and starches. He was devastated to have to go on this diet and was finding the food we were eating to be boring.

After I had a good look at Vegan Richa's blog, I had a suspicion that we could make easy adjustments to allow my son to have delicious Indian cuisine (his favorite). I bought the book for him and it changed his reaction to his diet. He is now eating flavorful and delicious foods thanks to Vegan Richa.

His favorite is the Chard and peas in a creamy sauce. He adds in much more chard than the recipe requires. This makes the dish less soupy and reduces its need for rice.

My favorite recipe is the whole baked cauliflower. I'll make the dish and put quarters into dishes to keep for lunches over the next few days. it's as delicious cold as it is hot.

Not only is it easy to substitute out the foods we cannot eat, but Richa makes many excellent suggestions, especially for making changes to soy containing dishes.

I rarely buy cookbooks because despite owning good, classic cookbooks, I find myself getting recipes online. After looking forward to getting Richa's latest Indian recipes from her blog, Veganricha, in my inbox, I knew her cookbook would be a winner! Upon receiving Indian Kitchen, I immediately poured over it. I was delighted and excited by the gorgeous photos accompanying the traditional indian recipes. The first dish I made (Red lentil soup) was delicious! This book is well designed, with a beautiful layout and easy to follow recipe guidelines, whether you're a beginner or intermediate cook. I highly recommend this book. It's an obvious culmination of Richa's passion for sharing her love of Indian cuisine.

This cookbook is filled with beautiful photos of Indian food along with detailed recipes. Indian cooking isn't simple; so if you aren't into many ingredients and unique spices, this is not the book for you. If you love experimenting and are willing to add new spices to your collection, Vegan Richa does a great job of explaining them.

Richa Hingle is so ridiculously talented when it comes to creating recipes. I love Indian food, and my boyfriend is vegan. This book is perfect for combining our two favorite things. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas!

I love Indian food. Being a new vegan, this purchase was a no brainer. I love the easy to follow recipes and the way she offers spice replacements for traditional indian spices for easier to find in the US ones.

Fast, easy, delicious, vegan Indian food for when I get home late from work and I'm hungry. It really helps to have an international grocery store close by with high-quality ingredients. My kids love the recipes, too.

I LOVE this cookbook! It is not just another vegan cookbook with the the same old recipes reinvented ...which I am so tired of. It is an awesome book with all the basic info needed to finally tackle Indian cooking! Plus it's Vegan!!! Plus the recipes are sensitive to Gluten and nuts and soy!!!

An excellent and well-written book - in a friendly and conversational style. I have tried a few of her recipes - and they are easy and quick. I am delighted that a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to animal rescue organizations. That message speaks loudly to me - and the proven health benefits of a vegan diet are another reason to try these recipes. I hope that many more people will realize that Indian food can be delicious without the inclusion of meat, dairy or animal-derived products.

Great book. Have made two of the recipes already and they came out great. Easy to follow. My Indian coworker thought it was a great book for the home cook just trying Indian food, she gave 5 stars just looking through it. Get it, you won't regret it.

This book is amazing - the dishes are reasonable to make (cost, ingredients, time), and they are so delicious. Also, follow the author on social media - she has me staring with googly eyes at everything she posts.

This is my first time trying to cook Indian food. The book is very helpful in supplying info on what spices are essential, keeping my costs down. So far I have tried two recipes, which were delicious. I plan to try many more.

Really fantastic book. We went to a plant-based diet this year (though we've always enjoyed vegetarian and vegan Indian food) and this is my go to cook book for dinner parties or everyday meals. The recipes are not difficult to prepare and come out delicious every time. We make he Vegan Paneer and Spinach in Tomato Sauce every Sunday. Also really love the whole roasted cauliflower with makhani gravy - yum!
Whether you are vegan or not, something for everyone - highly recommend it!

I just opened the package today. It is said "not to judge a book by its cover"--however, the cover is beautiful and the recipes inside look delicious.

At some point I will update when I have actually tried the recipes :-)

I had been following Vegan Richa's fantastic blog for years and was anxiously awaiting the release of her cookbook. When I visited the US recently I finally managed to order it and add it to my giant collection of cookbooks. And I love it! It's a great resource on Indian Vegan cooking and is full of gorgeous photos. What I like most about the book is the very personal, down-to-earth feeling of her book. It's done by someone with passion and all of the recipes carry over her charm and character, and in that wonderful way (that all Indian cooks vary) are very specific to her and her family's individual tastes and cooking ways. More than anything I've learned a lot, tried new things, and especially improved my Indian Sweets game with her recipes! Thank you!

This is one of the BEST vegan cookbooks available. It is packed with a ton of delicious recipes. Some of the recipes require advance preparation and a large number of ingredients (including spices I can't always find at the general grocery store), but each recipe I have made is so flavor packed, the extra effort is worth it. Many of the recipes are also easy to alter if you are missing some of the spices or have different vegetables on hand. In my opinion is the best vegan cookbook available for the price in terms of quantity and quality of recipes.

I love Indian food, but never made anything beyond curry. I decided to do vegan from time to time and tried this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Indian food and wants to try vegan. The Indians have been doing it for a very very long time and know how. Besides, you can always throw in some chik or shrimp!

Gorgeous! Full of color photos of recipes as well as ingredients. I love how she simplified traditional recipes as well as giving some new twists to old favorites. I have purchased a few other Indian cookbooks but inevitably I become intimidated by the long list of steps and ingredients. I love that she listed prep, active, and inactive time for each recipe so that I can know what I'm getting into from the beginning. Thanks Richa!

Richa clearly loves what she does and puts love in to what she does. She tells stories, provides education and then delicious recipes. Even the most amateur cook can make these delicious, cruelty free recipes. I look forward to whatever she does next.

Everything is pretty straight forward... I wish she would offer more substitutions for grocery items. I understand that the spices shouldn't be messed with, but sometimes I don't have enough of one veggie, so it would be nice to have some subs. In all though, very AUTHENTIC tasting Indian food - my husband commented that it smelled like our favorite indian restaurant when he came home the other night.

Richa's recipes work, she earns a bonus for covering the major dietary restrictions. Beyond the recipes you get a glimpse of Indian culture, spices, traditions, geography and just enough information about Richa herself to feel connected. The work she has done to transform recipes which rely heavily on dairy to vegan successes is amazing. I am grateful that she decided to share her talent, her passion, her heart and of course her food.

I just received the book today. I love that almost every recipe has a photo! This is a very well designed book, easy to read, with lots of great info to introduce you to Indian cooking. All of the recipes look delicious! Can't wait to make some Indian food.

This is truly an excellent cookbook. The blend of spices is perfect. I made the vegetable vindaloo and it tasted better than what I've had at good Indian restaurants--and that's without the butter! It's clear that the author has taken her time to perfect each recipe.

The Kindle version is old style without photos and lacks the beauty and ease of the book. I didn't think a modern cookbook would be like that. I returned it and bought the book.
The kindle version rates 3 stars. The cookbook is definitely 5 star for great recipes and enticing photos.
