Albert Pike takes the reader through the different degrees of Masonry one at a time. Although Albert Pike was a war criminal during the Civil War (anything but) with the Confederacy and led a rogue existence at times you will not find that type of behavior displayed here in this book. Mr. Pike writes a history of the Mystery religions that is almost overwhelming while covering the Masonic degrees. This is not an easy read and those taking this book on might well spend a lifetime covering the material that Mr. Pike covers in his book. At over eight hundred pages it is difficult for me to believe many of the Masons that I know will be reading this book soon but for those that do, you will be well rewarded in the comfort of knowing more about one of the most, if not the most, famous Mason of all times. The book in one word,"balance."

What is the philosophy inculcated by the Masonic Fraternity? Why have so many renowned men such as George Washington, Mozart, Benjamin Franklin, Harry S. Truman, and Sir Winston Churchill found in Masonic membership keys to leading enlightened lives? Be cautioned, that this is no easy read. You must remember when reading this that Pike expected his reader to have a classical education. Not many educated in the 21st century had the opportunity to study the classics. Consider this, not many Freemasons in the mid to late 1800s had beyond a high school education, and Country and Pioneer men the found teachings of the Blue Lodge was the only form of "higher education" available beyond the little red school house, and the little white community church.

I recommend this to every Mason who desires a more thorough understanding of his fraternity. This book is well known to Masons, especially Scottish Rite Masons, since Brother Pike was the driving force behind developing the Scottish Rite, if that accolade can be pinned to one person. I purchased an older, hardback edition partly for its historic and sentimental value, and I don't regret it. In addition to being a very large book, it is written in a style that today looks archaic and cumbersome. It is highly recommended as a gift to a new 32nd degree Mason or anyone else who seeks an understanding of what the Scottish Rite has to offer.

Product arrived on time; as agreed.
Book, reprint, is excellent. One does not need to be a Freemason to read this. The lessons contained in the variouis degrees is applicable to everyone. A timeless classic.

Review of: "Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Prepared for The Supreme Council of the 33rd Degree for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States and Published by its Authority Hardcover – January 1, 1963," by Albert Pike.

On the surface this book comprises 861 pages of philosophy and esoteric insight into the Thirty-Two Degrees in Freemasonry. The Thirty-Third Degree is honorary.

For the practicing Freemason at that level who takes these printed words to heart it serves as a road-map for living a self-actualized life. A life that serves others before self-serving. A noble pathway that should be heralded and not hidden.

The author, Albert Pike, was a man who lived an interesting life. He was a poet, journalist, lawyer, an Officer in the U.S. Army and C.S. Army, and of course a Freemason.

This text is Pike's opus magnum; his masterpiece. The advice given and provided to the Freemason who is willing to employ it is as relevant today as it was when first written.

For those looking for a tome on "magick," etc. just pass on this. For those looking to link "Satanism" or something profane to it, please move on. This text is simply about making good men better. Nothing more.

Five+ stars. It is simply invaluable.

The overall quality of the books binding and print size is excellent for a hardbound copy.....I consider this an issue especially if the book is a reference book that will receive considerably more than average use....The book is hardbound and having 735 pages is somewhat hard to manage if you are moving from one reading site and want to go to another article read in a hand held use....Why a book so well admired has not found its place in a leather bound or a quality flex bond community is hard to understand....Outside of the Scottish Rite Community i would have no knowledge what the demand would be for the book but i hold the opinion a more flitting appreciation would be served if the book was more flexible for hand usage....Aside from my remarks the book is worthy of sufficient overall quality and is deserving of a five star rating......

This is even harder to read through that the hard cover print version. Mostly good for hisrorical reference as you can use the search feature of the kindle to find information without having to read everything else.

This book is a classic. I believe it is something that every Mason should read. That being said, any good Mason should remember that you are free to disagree with the opinions of fellow masons. I, for one, do not agree with many things in this book. However, if you take your Freemasonry seriously you should read it.

It makes really good bedtime reading material.

The intellect must be achieved at all costs and without: Philosophy, Economics, Political Science and History mankind is doomed to remain at an intellectual stage very similar to the beasts of the fields. Superb literary work from one of the greatest philosophers of all times. Col. Pike, M P. Hall, Plato, Aristotle, Homer great men, True TITANS who dwelled amongst men.

The book I received only had 106 pages. The real book has over 300 pages. The last sentence in the book I received was. . .
"You are in the path that leads u the slope of the mountain of Truth; and" This is where the book ends, and I think it was the publishers fault, because it does not appear that pages were torn from the book.
