Definitely not up to the usual standards of this author. The story was fragmented and covered more storylines than two books should cover. None of the sub plots were fully developed. It was like reading an outline for a book. A real disappointment.

This broadcast just follows along the same great path the series has travelled down all along, epic opus in production.
I really couldn't believe the last page was the last page, and wish broadcast 11 was already published.

Just finished Broadcast 10. Randolph Lalonde has in Spinward Fringe created a compelling universe and evolves the many characters almost flawlessly. We waited quite a while for this one and for the most part it did not disappoint until the end where it just ended abruptly. It was a real shock and I would've been pissed except for the fact I enjoyed everything up to that point immensely. It felt very disjointed and a bit amateurish. We understand the book has to end at some point but as well as he writes, surely Mr. Lalonde could have eased us out better than this. In any event I look forward to Broadcast 11 with keen interest! Mr. Lalonde, please take your time and better care with it. Know that many of us are still with you.

This was wonderful and worth the wait for the author to make sure it was right. The worst part of this book was that it ended. The best part of it ending, is I know Broadcast 11 is not to far away. Love how Randolph communicates with his readers.

Up to this point, I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire Spinward Fringe series. This book, however, takes a sever detour from its predecessors. One of my favorite aspects of the series, is the authors ability to keep a fast paced, yet detailed story line going, while still being able to build and develop great characters. This installment lacked ALL of that. The book ended with every single character in pretty much the same place it started them with. There was no character development, in fact there was very little character reference at all, leaving many heretofore important characters given little more than cameo's. Without going into spoilers, all of the dynamic character interaction you have come to expect from Randolph Lalonde has completely fallen flat in this book. I understand that no author will ever please all their readers, but this is a complete deviation from his previous style of writing. Almost as if he had someone else writing for him who had never read the previous books. I could go on, but suffice it to say, I'm pretty dang disappointed. I think Randolph was putting out far better books in the beginning, BEFORE he started taking himself so seriously, and when he was turning them out one after the other. Can we go back to the good old days?? I gave this book 3 stars because despite everything, I still love the series and I'm still hopeful the next book will be better.

To me this is an okay transition story. It continues to develop the characters and introduce some new ones. The grammer needs some work though. "Her" is not a subject pronoun and should not start a sentence. Sorry, but it is very distracting to some, me included.

Written well. Continues to impress. Still a lot of territory to cover. Want to know more about the Beast and Order as well as how the new officer's including Alice will contribute to Haven Fleets success.

Love the Spinward Fringe series. I started with book 1 as a free download and I've been hooked ever since. Problem is the books aren't long enough. My Kindle tells me that according to my reading speed I would finish this book in less than 8 hours. I need more. I feel like a junkie and don't know if I can stand waiting a few more months for book 11.

I laughed - I cried - I stayed up all night ... the visual created when Iruuk imagined himself shaved and displayed in a picture without fur in the bunk of a classmate was one of the most hilarious scenes I've ever #seen#

Once again, we still feel invested in the characters, even if the story drags out a bit more than necessary.
I've loved this series as a whole, but the frenetic pacing of the first books was lost somewhere along the way. Now we chase various technological McGuffins each book and see what new nightmare Vindyne/Regent Galactic/Order of Eden can dream up to counteract it. Don't get me wrong, I love to see how our primary characters in Jacob/Ayan/Minh-Chu develop relationships with their latest allies & shipmates (though Oz has become such a secondary character it's sad), but now we can spend entire books without the smallest amounts of resolution. Maybe it's the fact that these future humans can live virtually forever, either as a framework, or with "rollbacks", but I can't get over how long our protagonists are going to drag out this on again / off again love affair.
Even on my third re-read of the series, I'm still struck by the dearth of decent proofreading. Sentences that you have to re-read 2-3 times to figure out exactly how it was "supposed to read" were irritating enough the first couple of books, but by this point, the average reader can't understand why (especially with the ongoing success) it doesn't ever seem to improve. I even reached out to the author several books ago and received a virtual pat on the head for my concern and was assured they were "on top of it". *sigh*

Most series grow tiring, lose focus, are predictable after so many books but not this series. In fact, book 10 is one of the best with wonderful character development, drama, excitement, action and telling a good story.
