Just an amazing subject that we know very little about, yet shows a lot of promise for medical issues such as obesity, cancers, mental health, etc. Highly recommend this book, not too dry, humorous & informative. Encouraged to read more about this subject.

The book details very specific the function of the gut and maybe too much information and not proven studies that were no interest for me. I would have love to read more about what can be done to have a good digestion and tips to make the intestine work better than everything that I already knew.

For me this book was very informative, and combined with the light yet deep way the writer had compiled this work, I cannot imagine someone who is interested in this topic (and actually, also those who are not) not enjoying the reading, while probably also learning a thing or two.

Well recommended!
White Cat (The Curse Workers) :: The Bronze Key (Magisterium #3) :: Doll Bones :: The Field Guide (The Spiderwick Chronicles) :: Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade - 3 (Lord John Grey)

Fascinating information presented in a fun way. Love the graphics. The only thing I would change, is I believe that the person who translated from the original German is not a native English speaker, and sometimes a sentence will trip me up and I have to re-read.

Excellent translation of a vital, readable book on our body's health through the belly. There are many practical insights on maintaining our good health and understanding what a key role our intestines play. I experienced joy and laughter reading the book.

Fascinating! Ms. Enders did an excellent job of explaining what goes on inside us after we swallow. At the time I was reading this book I was also taking antibiotics for Lyme's disease, so I was extra glad to learn about probiotics! Well written as well.

Good information - everything you wanted to know, in easy-to-swallow form. Wish it had a few more actual recommendations, but I guess she's not in a position to do that. At least you can ask much more informed questions at the doctor's or pharmacy.

Written plainly and yet, with elegance, "Gut" takes the reader on a pleasant jouney from tastebuds to, literally, the end with panache and style. Reminiscent of Mary Roach's "Gulp," this tome will enlighten and entertain!

Very informative and easy read. I had been looking for something to help me get a better handle on the how digestion works and how the foods we eat can impact our health. This one did just that and very possible that I might be able to persuade some of my kids to read it one day soon!

Accessible information on physiology of the gut and useful tips on adoption of healthy bathroom habits. Second half of the book has practical information on bacteria's role on gut health. A quick and enjoyable read. The bibliographic notes in the back of the book are a bonus for folks who want to delve deeper! I highly recommend it!

This is a great book. Very informative and easy to understand. The other clearly knows what she is talking about and uses the best words for the meaning she is trying to convey without going on and on. I would recommend this book to anyone with curiosity about their body.

Thought this was a good, easy, foundational read on the gut and how it works within our body. The writing is basic on purpose - it seems meant to make this accessible for anyone. I appreciated reading it and had some good takeaway information to think about as I consider reading more on the topic.

The most fun book about your entrails that you'll ever read. Very informative as well. You will learn fascinating secrets about your body that you never knew and have a greater appreciation for organs that generally don't get much attention. Well done Giulia!

The author appears knowledgeable and provides a lot of information in a non pedantic, even fun style. Should be read by anyone who has a gut and wants to know more about one of our typically unsung organ systems.

This is a life changing book. I appreciate the scholarship in it, presented in a clear, organized and humorous way. This is an expert in the field of intestinal biology who writes about technical matters in a way that a lay person not only understands, but enjoys. There are so many spooky weird theories flying around about this organ, what to eat, what is healthy, what vitamins are good, etc. Enders sorts it all out and tells you which are true. Plus, you learn how your gut is affected by your emotions. For me it's a keeper for future reference.

Absorbing (pun unintended), well-researched book. Everyone should read this. The gut is called the second brain after all. The writer puts together her facts in a humorous prose with clarifying diagrams.

everything you always wanted to know in an easy-to-digest (gulp) format. charming text and illustrations make it possible to think about what you really don't want to think about. good science, too.

Covers everything from mouth to anus, with side trips into how other systems interact. The most surprising thing I learned is that there seems to be evidence for the gut affecting how the brain works.

Who would have thought that a book about the bowels could be fascinating, witty, charming - and useful?! Equally impressive and clever are the illustrations by the author's sister. I recommend reading this book aloud on a car trip. No one will sleep.

Wonderful book. Gave me great insights into the workings of my body and , on the side, confirmed a lot of things I always used to think about, e.g. the squatting position for relieving oneself!
The author writes about everything with grace and charm (see the title of the original German version) . Quite often she is outright funny and very entertaining.
I can only recommend this book to everyone who has the guts to learn more, a lot more, about their gut!!

Interesting book combining several studies that are not necessarily published. Vet helpful advices to directly improve our everyday life. All arguments are well demonstrated with many examples. There is a slight touch of humour making the read light and entertaining. This book can be life changing and I highly recommend it.
