Loved the pictures and recipes that this book had, but it still lacked substantial recipes. I would say it would be more like a book of just side dishes and little desserts. I would recommend as a book in addition to another one or for someone that has multiple. I bought it for someone who was going vegan and it wasn’t very helpful.

The recipes in this book are astounding. I've been a vegan for many years, and it's hard for me to find recipes that surprise and delight.
The reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is tri-fold. 1) many of the recipes are laborious. They require a lot of prep work, and there are lots of "hidden steps" like toasting and grinding spices, or an ingredient that's needs to be prepped, like the creamed cashews for many recipes. This is not a cookbook you pick up when you want to "whip up" something (for the most part)- there is no prep time info 2) no nutrition info. 3) almost every savory recipe is SPIIIIIIIICCCCYYYY. I love it, but have had to take them all down several
Notches for a wider audience.
This is a great cookbook for cooks!! Not sure if I'd recommend it to a less experienced cook though.

A beautiful cookbook with not only mouthwatering recipes, but also thought-provoking text about the cultural history of African foods and their relationship to, and fusion with, other world cuisines. Mr. Terry presents these delicious vegan recipes as a way to address the health crisis of "preventable diet-related illnesses" which are increasingly affecting more and more Americans. I can tell this is going to be one of my favorite cookbooks!

Recipes are easy to recreate. Very tasty combinations of ingredients. Great to use homegrown produce. Easy to get other ingredients and to keep on them on hand. Been vegetarian for 38 years. These recipes provide variety and excellent nutrients to meals.

I can't wait to try these luscious-looking, creative recipes. African cuisine is one I have never tried. The dishes sound delicious and the instructions are simple and clear. So fun that the author includes a playlist with each recipe.
There are tons of pictures, which I love. You don't have to guess how the dish finished dish should look.
