I just made the yogurt recipe (Soymilk and cashew version) and I am in heaven. I have yet to find a store bought vegan yogurt I enjoy, and I have tried so many! I am so looking forward to trying many more recipes! Thank you Miyoko... I am one happy yogurt-loving girl!

This is a wonderful book! I bought her Artisan Vegan Cheese book, which I also love, but this one is even better. It is hardcover and has more pictures. I would be thrilled if she came out with another edition of the cheese book that was more like this one. All of her recipes are excellent!

What a great book. Everything I've made has really lived up to the predictions. Miyoko really excels at making recipes that capture the flavor and texture of these basic items. I've also always really enjoyed making my own staples and this book really has been helping me improve the preparation of basic food items. If you enjoy understanding and creating the basic food items of a modern diet I'd highly recommend getting this book and working through it all.

The positive reviews are warranted. This book is some next-level s***. It shows you how to make vegan milk, butter, yogurt, cheese, meat, poultry, fish, soup stocks, and more from scratch. Everything from vegan white chocolate to vegan oyster sauce is covered. Anyone who wants to take their cooking up a level needs this book.

I've learned so much from this book. Schinner provides excellent vegan alternatives for nearly everything I've missed since going vegan. You will not miss meat or dairy after trying out her alternatives. Even omnivores will love this food.

Thank you so much Miyoko!

Such a fantastic collection of recipes - it has demystified pizza dough, homemade bread, & so much more for me. Not a day goes by since I bought this book that I don't have a homemade vegan staple in my fridge.

Love this book! Love Miyoko! Great recipes! Her cheese recipe in the book differs from her you tube videos so I can't wait to compare the two. I often buy Miyoko's Sun Dried Tomato Cheese spread and the Chive spread too. So yummy.

Its a beautiful book, well written, with easy to understand instruction. I was super excited to get my hands on this cookbook, but have to say was disappointed when I opened it and started to read. Most of the recipes call for nutritional yeast...which if you have researched, contains MSG which is simply a chemical and is terrible for you. A lot of the recipes also call for vital wheat gluten, as someone living with a gluten allergy, I cannot consume. I'm left with only a few options from this cookbook :(

One of my absolutely favorite cookbooks. I use it all the time and have turned many friends on to it. I've bought this to give as gifts. I think if you are vegan and care about the ingredients in your food, that this cookbook is a MUST have in your kitchen.

After reading some forums about Vegan and Vegetarian diets, I noticed this book popping up as a recommendation. As someone who's just started her journey towards going full Vegan, this book is a life saver! The recipes are so amazing, and I've been frequently using them in my daily cooking routines. It's also written pleasantly, and I enjoy the character and personality Miyoko emits in her stories. Highly recommend having this on your shelf!

This book is fantastic!! A really fun combination of simple & more elaborate staples. I really like it! One thing I wish is that the recipes had weight measurements, but that’s not a problem!

I really, really like the homemade cheddar recipe, & I’m looking forward to trying other cheeses. I also love her baguette, vegan butter, and pancake/waffle mix recipes. I’m so glad I bought this book!

I would have been lost without this book in starting to go vegan. It is 99% useful. Some of the items they suggest are a bit questionable, but you have to choose what's right for you. Most of the suggestions for products that are similar to dairy are good, some of them are ok, and some of them are just awful - again, this is a really individual and personal choice thing, so if you know what you like, you'll be in fine shape!

I LOVE this book! I've already tried several recipes and already it's my new favorite reference cookbook. It satisfies my longing to 'make it myself' homesteading spirit. It would make a great gift, too.

I have used the recipes in this book multiple times, and they are always very flavorful. I never thought I could make my own vegan mayo, butters and cheeses until now and they are so easy to do, plus I get to control what is in my creations. Thank you Miyoko for creating this book. If you are someone who wants to have a healthier lifestyle, I would definitely recommend this book.

What an AWESOME cookbook. I love to make food from scratch for my family and have found many recipes and cookbooks seriously lacking. I bought this after much thought - I really didn’t want another disappointing cookbook. I am so happy!

This book is an amazing collection of recipes designed to make your life a little bit easier. You will have a pantry full of staples, the contents of which you will know exactly, because you put the ingredients together. The recipes are tasty and, for the most part, easy to assemble. You will wonder what you did before you picked up Mrs. Schinner's book. Enjoy! I certainly have been, and will continue to do so for a long time.
Please note, you don't have to be a vegan to appreciate this cookbook. Try it. You won't regret it.

I love to make everything from scratch, so this cookbook is right up my alley. This is by far my most used cookbook. It has so many great recipes, and each recipe makes a lot so you can easily freeze and store for later.

I love this book. I have spent hours reviewing all the wholesome home made goodness packed inside....recipes of items you use the most. The free-range chicken(less) stock pg 82 is one of my favorites...sooo delicious! The classic pancake/biscuit mix pg 158 is another one of my favorites. The flavor is different and leaves you craving the next bite. I suggest browsing by pg 154 too....Polenta!! The recipe's also host tips for storage, variations and the writers personal perspective, ect. I thank Miyoko Schinner for creating/writing this book as it is a 'must have' for any kitchen.

Great book. Although savings is a part of the point it can be expensive to get stuff together if your pantry isn't stocked in a certain way. But I think of it as start up capital. The savings on milk and butter alone for 1 week is 2/3 of the books price so worth in the end.

If you are considering purchasing this book, just do it. It just arrived in the mail and I am awestruck. This weekend is going to be dominated by mushroom burgers and homemade ketchup.

Most of the recipes are things that I would never consider making on my own and would rely on the 'boutique' section of the grocery store for. I'm crossing my fingers that the recipe for pepper jack melts as advertised!

This book is amazing!! Everything I've made has been awesome!! Thank you miyoko this and your vegan cheese book have been a godsend. Be prepared Rome wasn't built in a day, and some of this isn't either. With time and patience come true rewards. If your looking to rid your body of toxic processed everything this book is a must have.

I really REALLY like this cookbook. I have now tried a dozen or so recipes and most of them are exactly what I hoped to prepare. There are a few recipes that didn't quite make it for me, but they are easily fixed. This is a must have book if you are a vegan (and perhaps even if you aren't)!
