The book explains why people become Vegans and what the diet contains. there are many very good recipes in this book and a lot of ways to substitute for things that are in a normal diet, such as dairy foods, poultry and many other animal products. This book also goes into detail about the animal rights and why people choose not to eat any meat or any animal by products.
Vegan Cook Book for Beginners also lists nutritional values and how changing your diet to vegan can help with many illnesses such as cancers, diabetes, and hi blood pressure. There is a lot of great information in this book if you are considering switching to the vegan lifestyle. It is a definite must have!

I was initially concerned about making the switch to veganism but this book had a very thorough introduction to the lifestyle. I liked how it explained many misconceptions about going vegan and the challenges that a new vegan might face. While many of the recipes require a food processor or juicer, I found that these were good investments. The recipes were very straightforward and often under ten steps. Interspersed between recipes were tips on how to stick with veganism; these simple reminders made a big difference. While eating as a vegan still has its obstacles, this book made every day cooking a bit easier.

The Vegan Cookbook for Beginners was an easy read. It clearly outlined what a vegan diet consist of and health risks associated with it. For those looking to transition to an "Animal-product free" life, this book is very helpful. I love the fact that making this change can help people become healthier overall.
I did feel the section about Animal Rights/Welfare was a bit much. It states later that no one reason is superior to another, concerning the reason people become vegan, but to me, reading this makes me think there is a superior reason. There is lots of good information in the book for those looking to become vegan, including a grocery shopping guide, tips for dining out, meal plans, and awesome recipes. If I were to ever make the transition, this would be the book I would go with.

An easy read, very informative and directly to the point. These are the first words that popped into my head as I was reading this book.

Like any good beginner's book, the writers start at square one by explaining what being a vegan actually entails, so the informational part of the book gets an A minus for explaining veganism step by step.

And as far as the recipes, oh boy, there's all kinds of yummy dishes in the book, like vegan chili and stuffed shells, which all seem pretty easy to make--so this section gets an "A" as well. Between the good background information and the tons of recipes, this is a wonderful book for someone who's thinking about going vegan.

I have thought about becoming a vegan for quite a while and have been reading various books on the topic. The Vegan Cookbook for Beginners is one of the best I've found. It includes great advice about how to get started and dozens and dozens of amazing recipes. It offers pros and cons and enough information to allow a smart person to make a well-informed decision. There are so many recipe choices for me, even though there are many foods I don't love. Going vegan finally feels like something I can do!

With today's obesity rates and increase in heart disease, diabetes, and strokes, I have been eating healthier and trying to teach my children to do so too! I really enjoy this cookbook! Although I am not currently vegan, I have friends who are and I have found this book both super informative and interesting. The book includes loads of information about why you might choose to adopt a vegan diet and/or lifestyle and many useful tips for making the transition, stocking your kitchen, and tons of delicious recipes! I have only made a couple, so far, but I am excited that I can now confidently accommodate all of my guests whenever I have people over! When the book stops beating you over the head about why you should eat Vegan, and gets down to showing you how to do it; it shines. There is a two week introductory Vegan diet program inside the book that is designed to help you transition over to the non-animal product Vegan way of eating. Alternative sources of needed nutrients (protein comes from peanut butter too, you know!) are discussed in order to help you adjust to not eating meat for that protein.

Spices provide the backbone of variety in this way of eating. By showing the spice off in a way that does not drown the flavor of it, one item can be flavored differently without being boring.

I would definitely recommend Vegan Cookbook for Beginners to any person who is thinking about making significant dietary/lifestyle changes. The introduction of the cookbook provides a fair and unbiased evaluation of the benefits of veganism. Also the intro was extremely informative regarding the history of veganism. Since purchasing the cookbook I have already tried two of the recipes and loved the simple steps, and descriptions. Part of the reason that I gave this book five stars is the cookbook's juice recipes. I recently bought a juicer and was able to make the sweet spinach and lime juice. It was amazing!! Definitely a must read, and a great addition to any kitchen, even if you are not committed to living a vegan lifestyle.

What a great book! I have talked about going vegan for some time now, but never really took the plunge. This is a very informative book for people like me whom are on the verge of going vegan but not sure just how to begin. The book gives a great "start-up" plan on how to ease your body into being vegan without shocking your system completely. The recipes look simply delicious and I am so excited to try some of them. I never realized how many meat substitutes are available. The health benefits of becoming vegan plentiful. My life span is much more important to me than eating a steak!

A nicely curated book of recipes for those interested in embarking on a life of veganism or anyone that likes dabbling with healthy vegan cooking. Introductory chapters on the health benefits of going the big "V", preparing your kitchen for the switch etc. are a little long winded although packed with good information.

The recipes will win you over. A cool cranberry smoothie with coconut milk and shaved coconut topping, peanut butter pancakes and main courses like a carrot leek risotto have the richness of dairy without any of the cruelty.

This is an excellent book for those interested in changing their diet to vegetarianism. Personally, I need and want my meat. The information was very informative and shed a lot of light on how different foods affect the body. With incorporating anything new, there must be a transitional process. I was glad to see that they incorporated suggestions on how to transition to veganism from regular eating. It was also great to see the author reference the types of food to discard when cleaning out your refrigerator and cabinets and substituting vegan foods. Good luck to anyone moving forward with this.

While some may scoff at the thought of losing all that protein contained within meat, Olympic athlete Carl Lewis had his best year of track competition the first year he switched to a vegan diet. The first part of this amazing book gives insight into how veganism was created, the parameters of becoming a vegan, what a vegan diet actually consists of and even provides three whole chapters on how to make the transition from carnivore to vegan. It includes a sample meal plan, and a variety of recipes. What I love about the recipes in this book is that the ingredients are all very familiar and easy to find at any supermarket. These recipes cater to simple tastes, and would be great to incorporate for families with small children. If you are looking for an in depth explanation on the consequences of an animal based diet, this is not your book. However, if you are looking for some basic knowledge, and some healthy, easy to prepare plant based recipes, you got it here.

This is so much more than a cookbook! The sections on why people decide to become vegan, as well as the proven health benefits, were so helpful to me in reaffirming my fairly recent decision. I'm going from vegetarian to vegan, mostly for animal rights reasons, and like the extra information on how to do this in the healthiest way possible. I tried the penne with artichokes and the sweet potato stew and highly recommend them. I'm not the best cook but the recipes were really easy to follow. This book made me feel really excited about becoming vegan!
