This was definitely one of the scariest of the Peretti books I have read, but I loved the message of dealing with hard things that many Christians struggle with. Would recommend to anyone, just don't read the end at night! Ha!

This book was not what I expected after reading "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness." It's for those who wonder, you know God, you've known God, but the bad in life still happens and has happened for so long, so what now? That's what Travis tackles in this book with characters that we've all encountered or perhaps been in life.
The book has an interesting pace of fast and slow, but everything is set up for the ending where everything comes together.

Wow! Although, not his normal style, Monster is a very enjoyable read by Frank Peretti. When I opened the cover, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The surprise is who the actual "monster" turns out to be. Although not along the same lines as his "Darkness" books, this is a must read for Peretti fans. - Cynthia M. Hickey, author of Pursued By Evil and A Dream Fulfilled.

Very exciting book from beginning to end. Frank Peretti one more time creates a masterpiece that when you pick it up to read, it is very difficult to put down. The stars of the story are involved in each chapter, and the plot draws you into the next chapter. You will be anticipating what is going to happen next. A great story indeed

Mr Peretti does an excellent job tackling the whole evolution debate, and yet creates a very interesting story, with lots of action and suspense. the last few chapters start to become a little predictable, but that is soon rescued and he finishes strong. I still think the "spiritual warfare" themes, which he wrote on in his earlier works are his forte and better works (only reason he didnt get a 5 star for this one). all the same, it's been a wait, and I can honestly say it was not in vain :~)

A mysterious stranger comes to town. People are compelled by his charm and seemingly underlying power. Who is he? What are his intentions? Harmless or sinister? Great read that keeps you turning pages. Enjoy

I had never read anything by this author before. I thought this book was outstanding. The religious aspects and sermonizing was held to
a minimum. The story was very sci-fi, S. King-ish. It had me glued to my seat from page one until the end. Great job!! I highly recommend.

As a long-time fan of all things Bigfoot, I was really intrigued by the premise of Peretti's MONSTER. I was satisfied with all the twists and turns the story took, eventually tying all the loose ends together. Peretti has a real knack of taking multiple story lines and making them converge in a believable, and suspenseful, manner.
As I mentioned earlier, being a fan of Bigfoot made me really appreciated all those scenes. It was really interesting to see how the Beck character grew and developed over her time with the creatures. For me it was the most interesting aspect of the story!
Mr. Peretti is known for his Christian fiction, but this book barely scratches the surface of the creation/evolution argument. I'm a Christian and I really enjoyed it. Evolutionists won't be offended, although it may make them think about what exactly it is they believe.
Give MONSTER a try and see what you think. And don't be put off by the 400+ pages; it's a quick read.
