I am a BIG fan of Vlad. I was highly impressed with this book. The drama, the love, the fights, the anger, the lust, the jealousy, the impaling, the electrocutions, the fires. HOLY MOLY. I love how Cat and Bones were brought into the book, and I absolutely love that Mencheres played a big part in the book. Drama drama drama, but holy sex scenes. Frost did an amazing job with the book, a bit disappointed that she left it as a cliff hanger, but makes me want to read the next one all the more!

I couldn't put it down and when I did I was still thinking about it. I really liked the fact I could not determine where the story was going to go next. I am a Frost fan now. I can hardly wait for the next book.

It was a fast read. You would always be surprised what happens next.Love how Jeaniene Frost brings characters in and out of all her books. I laughed so hard when Valad and Lelia would batter between each other.

Another great book by Jeaniene Frost, with links to her other books, but without the need to have read them. I would recommend that you read Once Burned first so that you have a better understanding of the characters.

I enjoy Jeaniene's book a lot! I love that her heroins are smart, mouthy & very independent. They push the men who think they are unpushable. Vlad has always had a soft for me since he showed up befriending Cat. I also loved the cameo! What surprised me was the book was from Lalia's pov - I should have went back & re-read the first book. I can't remember if it was that way then too. (Shrug) doesn't matter - still loved the book! However I wish Jeaniene would have snuck in "whip it" for one of Lalia's songs, that would have been hi-lar-ious!!

The first book in this series left me hanging. I wasn't happy with the cliff hanger. This book just redeemed my one of my favorite authors in my eyes. This had everything. Vlad finally opens up a bit and we see his true feelings. We delve further into what made him who he is. The sex scenes were smoking hot! There was plenty of action and I like a girl gutsy enough to make a stand for what she wants. If she had been a push over, he wouldn't have been so attracted to her in the first place. Loved the way things worked out. I can't wait for the next book.

I love all of Jeaniene Frost's books! Vlad's books are awesome, I couldn't put this one down, even better than the first. I didn't think I would like these as well as the Cat and Bones books but I think I like them even more. I can't wait for the next one!! I love Vlad!

This book takes you back to the one true vampire, Vlad! I loved that it has an air of old but throws it into today's technology. His bride is like him tough unyielding and burns to be loved no matter what she finds out about him.

I stupidly started this book right before bed. I finished it the same night and then re-read it the next day. It's funny, charming, emotional, and exciting! Frost sucks you in without the Dracula stereotypes. I can't wait to read the next book.

Jeanine Frost has quickly become my second most favorite author, surpassing Laurell L. Hamilton in these types of stories. Frost lead female characters are strong, sexy, & dangerous. This also describes Vlad Tepesh in Twice Tempted, a follow-up novel from Once Burned. He is ruthless, loyal, dangerously sexy & totally at the top of the food chain!! With his dry wit, he will have you turning page after page wanting more....

Twice Tempted (A Night Prince Novel) by Jeaniene Frost

Vlad & Leila continued

Well, I could not wait to get my hands on this one.... ever since I read about Vlad in the Cat and Bones books way back when and then reading the first in this series, Once Burned! Now I feel let down, like it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. I do adore Jeaniene Frost and her books, but this one didn't really do anything for me. I would have thought after the means in which the first one ended and the amount of time we had to wait to obtain this one, that it would have blown me away... It did not! It gravely felt like a vicious cycle or circle that just kept up a monotonous pace talking about the same old same old! I felt like it was missing something that never ever came.

With all that said above, I still worship Vlad more than any other vampire in this series. He's merciless, cunning, gorgeous, mysterious, and above all The Prince of Darkness! Leila should be so lucky for what was offered to her. Come on, jeeze, really, you honestly turned that down!! Tisk tisk girl! I was glad to see the return of a few of our older characters from the Cat and Bones series, but the appearances were few and far between. I believe the book would have been more significant and amusing had Cat, Bones, and Mancheres and Co. been more prominent in it!

The book was 389 (kindle version) pages long and I found myself skimming a modest bit only because it felt like the storylines and circumstances kept repeating themselves and I felt like getting to the next scene for some potential changes. It moved along at a rather sluggish pace, and get this... the story does not end here. There will be more to come in this series. So, we'll be waiting another year (maybe less) for the next installment. I feel a tad bit angry that I already waited for this one, paid about 7 bucks for it, and I got a soso story that felt like it was rushed to the publisher!

Not so many highs and lows and as far as the climax goes, there really wasn't any, for me at least. It's not as much of a cliffhanger as it's predecessor, but it does conclude somewhat abruptly! I do want to be clear on something; Jeaniene if you actually do read your reviews, well, I would like you to know, this does not detour me from reading your books in the future. I did not hate this book nor did I love it, but felt it was lacking something. Not sure what! 3 Stars!

Jeaniene Frost did not disappoint with the latest Night Prince Novel. This was a fast paced action packed paranormal romance. I enjoyed the story and I'm still using some of Vlad's one liners daily. Can't wait for the next book.

Jeaniene Frost did it again with Vlad and Layla... I would do anything for Vlad and so do Layla. So I thought.. I'm glad that Layla did what she did. just to get Vlad to get what he feels for her. Vlad deserves only the best. Even though I don't think Leyla deserves him.

I'm not much into purely romance novels, but this one is a good mix of romance and action. I love Vlads character, so rough and tough and so hot. Lelia gets on my nerves with always getting in over her head. She's like a spoiled child, doing the opposite of what everyone says. Hopefully her new outlook on life will make her more level headed. This is a fun book filled with lots of action. Don't expect everything to make sense, but just enjoy.

It is weird to like a book so much you want to cry while talking about it?? I was like a frantic crackhead waiting for this book to come out and at about 1 am I bought it and finished by eleven the same day. The only thing that upset me about this book is that I have to wait for the rest (Please Let it be sooner rather than later). I just love Vlad and Leila's relationship and I cannot wait for it to continue. P.S Its Not Fair How You Do This To Me Mrs. Frost..I Was Practically Floating In Night Huntress Heaven After That Teaser. In The Meantime I'm Patiently Waiting For You Blow My Mind Yet Again With Another Frost Favorite (:

Vlad gets hotter with every book! Only Jeaniene Frost could make a man that is brutal, possessive, and borderline psychotic that has a tendency to impale first and ask questions later in his own personal dungeon one of fictions sexiest vampires!

Once I started reading this book I could not put it down! I love this series and can't wait for the next!

Have you marked your calendars for this day, when Twice Tempted is released? I have been watching the release date news on this book for months -- that's how much I love the Vlad and Leila show. I had a great day today, reading it. It was worth the wait.

Here's what I love about Jeaniene Frost -- she's a pro. Some less accomplished authors would drag out the relationship discord, exhaust the readers with fights and unpleasantness for 200 pages, and make the sweet reunion the book's finale. Without giving it away, I can reveal that this is not the plot arc in TT.

It sure is dreamy to see more Vlad. He is not cuddly. Leila says he's like a python weaving in the air above the basket, a dragon. . .she puts him in the reptile family more than once. [Maybe it's the fangs?] She's so funny, it's great to see her again, too.

Clear your calendar and curl up with this great sequel! Look forward to Book Three.

Better than the Dracula stories of old.....an excellent continuation of Vlad and Leila's story...I loved that his character is still merciless and arrogant and yet we get to see still another side in this story that only Leila is able to bring to the table....a great read over too quick..can't wait for the next one...I like these two every bit as much as Bones and Cat!

I'm astonished by Jeaninene Frost's ability to keep her work fresh. Even though she is working within the same "world" and often the same characters, her books always contain a surprise or two. I loved this book! Although this is the 2nd book in a series, it lost nothing in continuing the story of Vlad and Leila.

I enjoyed Once Burned, but I loved Twice Tempted. The potential explosiveness of a relationship between Vlad and Leila was only hinted at in the first installment. In fact, I was disappointed when I read Once Burned because I felt like Frost had missed the mark on chemistry that could have been fantastic. Twice Tempted proved to me that Frost hadn't let the potential greatness slip through her fingers, she was building it up so that she could deliver a fan-freaking-tastic second installment! The wait for satisfaction made it all the sweeter! BUY IT!

I have to say, the first book is better than this one. At least in the first book Leila was much more tolerable and somewhat admirable (considering her situation at the time). But in the second book, she turns into a whiny, annoying, childish, be-yotch. She keeps forgetting that Vlad is centuries older than her, and therefore, it's really absurd of her to demand him to change himself according to her liking and timeline. I wondered what Vlad sees in her since the relationship is kinda one sided in my view: he gives much more to her while she simply takes, and what she doesn't get, she demands until she gets it. But.. in fairness, Leila does love him and she'll do what she must to protect Vlad.

Thank goodness the story telling is fantastic and it's fast paced, so despite of Leila, I found myself reading the book pretty much in one sitting and wanting for more. I felt bad for Maximus and hoped he gets his story. I just wish I didn't have to wait for 1 year for the next book (sigh)...

Jeaniene Frost books are not helping my insomnia.

But this one was worth getting up early and reading.

I love, love, LOVE Vlad and Lelia, two dark and flawed characters who get some much-deserved corrective emotional experiences and much-needed personal growth in their second novel. Lelia matures from lovelorn youth to an ass-kicking grown up woman who is willing to be nearly as ruthless as her dark prince, even if it means leaving him.

Vlad is Vlad - to quote a line from the book, he's Vlad the Impaler not Vlad the Emasculated. Jeaniene Frost does a brilliant job keeping his ruthless nature and mystique intact even as he struggles with the emotions and turmoil his electrifying lady awakens. He's no white knight, he's a dragon. Lelia has to accept him as such, just as he must accept her unwillingness to sit back and play the damsel in distress.

Their fights are low down and dirty, but the make-up sex? Off the charts hot!

Hang onto your hats, folks, because the ending sets the stage for the thrill ride to come. Can't wait for the next one!

I am a big fan J Frost. The stories have a good balance of suspense and romance. My problem lies with the relationships. They follow the same formula. So predictable! Is there anyone out there that didn't know that they would marry and she would become a supe?

I have to disagree with most and say this book is disappointing, mostly because Leila seemingly develops split personality disorder: "I love him but I must must leave him" one moment and the next, ooopsie, "I am not sure I love him because he can't fully love me but let's get married while I try to commit suicide by using my powers and then HAVE to be turned into a vampire." Not one single decision seemed to be hers. This book turned a strong female protagonist into a whining nelly. I wonder what Vlad sees in her, I really do because everything she attempts in the story is just another chance for Vlad to save her. It got tired real fast.

Someone just end me now, this is the 2nd author in a little over a month that what has decided to join a frickin CONVENT???
Once Burned was hot, sexy and just plain yummy. This book was a major let down....the sex was VERY VERY toned down. The cover screamed LOUDLY NC-17, more like a slightly racy PG 13. I adore the Cat & Bones books filled with romance, action, quirky dialogue and racy smoking sex scenes...WTH?????
and the "cliffhanger" would have been fine if this were a weekly series, but just a thought of having to re-read this book before the 3rd one comes out next year, is a little disturbing & annoying.(less)

Drac's woman did nothing but cry and demand and not listen. Her father hated everything and everyone. The sister was so rude it made you want to wring her neck. The prince was great when he finally appeared in the story. Save your money or if you want to
read for yourself go to your library.

This is a hard review for me to write because I am such a huge, huge fan of Frost. But, there is just something missing from this series for me. I'm usually so connected to her characters but I am just not feeling the relationship between Leila and Vlad. I'm having difficulty buying into the fact that Vlad is a character you can love... romantically. The attempt at making Vlad desirable as a lover just didn't work for me. I spent most of the book not liking him BUT that is my point. We're not supposed to like Vlad, we're supposed to fear him. Trying to make him lovable is just too hard. I don't find it believable at all that Leila would be able to just blindly accept Vlad for the possessive, vengeful a$$ that he is in such a short amount of time and I equally don't believe that Vlad would fall so quickly.
I do love Leila's back story and her gift is very unique. I loved that Vlad was more true to his character in book two. He was an incredible arse! Unfortunately, the values that make Vlad a great character to hate also makes him a hard character to love.
So, once again I am on the fence with this series. I want to like it... I really do! But, it lacks the appeal that her Night Huntress series has. I miss the ghosts, the ghouls and the interactions with other characters that often adds an element of fun to her books. I also miss the speckles of humor that are usually present in her other books but is clearly missing in this series.
At the end of the day I didn't hate this book... but, I didn't love it either. Frost is still a good writer and the story was engaging enough for me to read through in one sitting. I will finish the series but my heart will always be more devoted to the Night Huntress series... of which I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in that series... "Up From the Grave"... bring on more Cat and Bones!

As much as I enjoyed Once Burned, I really think this sequel delivers just as much! It's sexy; it's heartfelt; and it's got just enough intrigue and action to keep me glued to the page, without ever detracting from the romance.

I hate to say it, but as the story began, I wasn't really happy with Vlad. If you'll recall, he is determined that love will never play a part in his life again. This is a real problem, since Leila is head over heels for him. The great thing about her, though, is that she refuses to settle for anything less than his heart. And while it shreds her to do it, she walks away from the only man she's ever loved. And he lets her go.

Of course, they don't stay apart. Someone targets Leila and that brings her back into Vlad's life faster than you blink. But who is out to kill her and why? Where does the sexy and eager Maximus fall into her life? Can she ever break Vlad's cool exterior and find his feelings underneath? Can the sex surpass the infamous chapter 32?

I won't spoil the answers... OK... I'll answer that last one with a resounding yes. The sex was molten hot here. Scorching. Wow. Thank you, Jeaniene Frost.

I've loved Vlad since he first entered the Cat and Bones world and he grows so much in this book. I never thought I could love him more, but now I do. He is violent and tyrannical and controlling; but once we end up exposed to the emotions he works so hard to tamp down, we also see the fierce love and loyalty in him. Meanwhile, I respected the heck out of Leila for not settling. She manages to hold on to her backbone without being bitchy or diminishing her love for Vlad. And Frost does a great job showing us that it's the real man she loves, not an idealized version of him. Sometimes it's messy; sometimes it's hard; but it's real. And I totally believed it.

Really good.

I still don't understand what happened to the characters I met in the first book.
I really enjoyed the first book. I liked both Vlad and Leila. I loved the whole mystery surrounding his character, his darkness, his arrogance and his possessive unapologetic behavior. I loved Leila's innocence, her bravery and her struggle to understand and control her powers. I also like that she feared him, but at the same time felt this uncontrollable pull towards him.

But in this book, I almost didn't recognized her. She was whiny, demanding, constantly nagging him. What I dislike the most about this book was the fact that she made her decisions based on assumptions instead of actual facts.

For me, the story started to go south pretty early in the book.

- WARNING SPOILERS -

The whole scene with the ring was ridiculous. I understand why she would assume that, but her reaction to it was very childish. First of all, if there was anything to be pissy about it was the fact that he wanted to turn her into a vampire. But she didn't dwell on it for very long. She started to nag him why he haven't said I love you to her. Let's back up a little. When she first saw the jewelry box she started to squirm in her seat and couldn't wait to say "yes" even without his I love you, so why complain about it afterwards?
Vlad have lived, loved, hated, suffered and killed for hundreds of years. He's a vampire who doesn't live by our mortal rules. I would say she had a thing or two to learn from him. I was on his side when it came to the whole I love you thing.

"Words." His tone sharpened. "I shared my house, my bed, and my blood with you, as well as offered you a place in my life forever. What are words compared to that?"

He was trying to tell her that actions speak louder than words, which is true, but she was still stomping her foot and pushing him to tell her that he loved her. And when he didn't she told him it was over. It was so annoying.

Another thing that I didn't like was cartoon-like descriptions. Which made it hard for me to get into the story and take it seriously. Leila comparing the remains on a deck to a lasagna and the crime scene at the hotel she compared to a Swiss cheese. You've got to be kidding me? I expected to be scared, grossed out or creeped out, but it was written to sound like an anecdote. It's a story about a prince of darkness, is it not? Not an episode of The Simpsons.

I thought that her constantly calling him ex-boyfriend completely ruined and emasculated his character. Why don't you just call him Vlad? But she made it sound like he was some nerdy boy next door.

Here are some of "WTH" lines:

"Come on, I silently urged. Drill, baby, drill!"
"I'd soon smell like eau de slut."

Then, there was a reason why Vlad brought her back to Romania for the second time.

"If I do nothing when someone attempts to blow up and then kidnap my former lover, my enemies will think I'm weak and attack more of my people."

But that is the complete apposite. Your enemies will think you are week if you try to hide every ex lover you ever had. It shows your weakness. Isn't that what they do, exploit them? The author needed to come up with a better reason for him to bring her with him, because this one didn't make any sense.

Then, the scene where her sister slapped her. Is that the first thing you do after you find out your sister is alive?
Don't even get me started on the whole wedding thing. It was beyond silly.
First it was to late, then too soon and then not soon enough.
Suddenly the I love you's started flying left and right, and the proposal out of the blue. And, the wedding, which had to happen the same day. The dress got designed and made the same day. Vlad also managed to invite 2000 people in that short amount of time. One day!

- END OF SPOILERS -

They managed to completely forget that there was a killer on a loose, hungry for revenge.
The only characters I liked was Vlad and her father, who was a man of reason. I didn't finished the book, I stopped at 61% because I just couldn't take anymore of that silliness.

I'm sorry to say, but I won't be reading anymore books in the series. But I hear that Jeanine's Frost Night Huntress series is quite good, I'll go and try that instead.

There were so many plot twists to Twice Tempted that I wouldn’t even know where to begin. From Leila leaving Vlad to join the carnival scene again, to her being attacked and on the run, to trying to navigate her new life. I couldn’t flip through the pages fast enough.

Leila and Vlad are still burning up the pages in this second installment. Pun was totally intended. I just loved that even though this is the second book to their story, their passion has only ignited even more. I didn’t know that I could fall even more in love with Vlad, but somehow I did with this novel.

Speaking of Vlad, you would think he’d be this ruthless killer… and he is, but only when provoked. If you cross him or his, he will kill you. It’s as simple as that. However, he has a soft spot for Leila and has a very hard time turning her down. Even if that means pulling back on his desire to maim or kill someone. That guy did so much for Leila that I honestly don’t know how she thought he didn’t care for her. It was written all over the actions he did for her.

I wish I could go into so much about this story but I don’t want to spoil any of the plot twists that take place. The author did an amazing job keeping their relationship fresh, adding new elements to their story, and opening up more possibilities for the future. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next.

Apparently it's just me, as it seems everyone loves this book, but this was even more disappointing than the previous one in my view. First of all, Vlad doesn't even seem like a main character. The book is told from the POV of Leila, his lover-turned wife. It's basically her story, just like the Night Huntress books were Cat's stories. Yes, Bones was the male lead, but there were always things going on without him, and it's the same here with Vlad.

I don't really buy Leila and Vlad's romance. Leila is in her early 20s with no experience and really has nothing to offer Vlad (who is a brutally ferocious, borderline psychotic, 500+ year old warrior vampire who doesn't believe in love and is not "tender" or "gentle") except her powers. Vlad goes from being interested in her powers to very quickly wanting her to become his "official" lover (and then forever-wife). Apparently, he is VERY selective in choosing women he gets intimate with. Yet, he chooses Leila, who is pretty much just a damsel in distress, needing to be saved all the time. And where's the chemistry? YAWN.

Plus, after only a few months, Leila is harping on Vlad because he won't tell her "I love you." Don't go there, girl. That's not the way to get the guy. Vlad also comes across as a jerk in these books most of the time. All the charm and funny banter between Cat and Vlad from the Night Huntress series is gone. He has NONE of that with Leila. Everything that happens between them is so rushed...I could go on, but these books have been very disappointing.

I know it's Jeaniene Frost's story to tell the way she wants (and I really enjoy most of her stuff), but I can't help but feel it could have been done so, SO much better. The Vlad in these books is not the Vlad I thought I knew.

So I'll just picture Jason Momoa as my Vlad and pretend he's still funny and charming, as well as his usually voracious bad*** self.

4.5 fiery Dracula stars!

Loved this Vlad follow up!! Leila and Vlad are my 2nd favorite couple in the Night Huntress World (second only to Cat and Bones of course). Leila is by far the best heroine of the spin-offs. She's a strong, admirable lady and I love that she refuses to be second best in life and stands by her choices.

Great plot, great angst, and a great romance. I highly recommend the Night Prince series and it can be easily read without reading any other connected books (but I still urge you to read Halfway to the Grave first).

One note, others have said that this Vlad is not the same as the one we met in Cat's books, but I choose to think of him as a different character in this book, so it doesn't bother me as much.

Another great read! In this story with Leila and Vlad, Leila leaves Vlad after realizing he can never truly lover her as she does him. However, trouble still seems to follow poor Leila and as much as she thinks that Vlad does not love her, she couldn't be more wrong. At first, I found Vlad reticence to be troubling but as the story develops we see why he did not want to risk loving her. I totally fell in love with Vlad and understood his strong will to remain the Night Prince and still love Leila fiercely. Filled with action, blood and a new change for Leila, this read had it all and an old enemy that just will NOT leave Vlad nor Leila alone, Lol. I am on to Bound By Flames and cannot wait to continue their love story. Great job and well written thoroughly engaging read. 4.5 stars...

Boy do I love the Jeaniene Frost/Tavia Gilbert combo writer/narrator duo! I was entranced by this listen, and even scheduled some "extra housework" just to make sure I could finish off this addicting audio. There is just something about an arrogant, alpha hero being tamed by the love of his life that satisfies me like no other romance can; and Vlad's (the "Impaler's") love affair with Leila is epic.

Surprisingly, although I finished Night Prince 1 well over 2 1/2 years ago, I was able to easily fall back into their story. If you haven't yet read Once Burned, I do recommend that you go back and read or listen to that title before Twice Tempted, as the story does evolve sequentially, and even this book ends in a cliffhanger. Therefore, if you want the whole tale, you will need to commit to listening to the rest of this series. Fortunately, Book 3, Bound by Flames was already released in January 2015--although it does appear that there is a fourth book in the works, which is presently expected to be released sometime in 2016.

This second book starts where Book 1 leaves off. After Vlad saves Leila by using his powers, Leila finds that her psychic abilities are gone. Whether it's temporary or not, she is not sure. But the one thing she does fear is that this unexpected change has made her less desirable to the man she is in love with, the vampire who is better known to the world as "Dracula", but who despises that name.

When a misunderstanding further brings to the forefront just how deep Vlad's feelings are for Leila, Leila must choose between what her heart wants and what her pride will accept. Unfortunately this directly clashes with Vlad's pride; and soon Leila finds herself exploring her old life back at the carnival.

However, when Leila once again finds herself in danger, an unlikely ally comes to her side, further opening the divide between Vlad and Leila. Vlad, however, is determined to see to her safety, even if it means imprisoning her against her will. But will Leila choose safety at the expense of her heart or will she insist on having it all? Is a man like Vlad who has seen so much violence, hate and horrors, capable of truly loving? Moreover, to have it all, Leila may need to decide whether she is willing to give up her humanity. Of course one wrong move and the dangerous forces that have her in their sites may eliminate all choices once and for all.

Tavia Gilbert, as always, rendered a fantastic performance. From the genuine sounding Dracula impersonation for Vlad, to the youthful, savvy, independent voice for Leila; each character was performed to perfection. Not only did all the males have genuine male sounding voices; but they were all easily distinguishable from each other. The same can be said of all the females playing a role in Twice Tempted. Had I not known that one person was creating all of the various voices, I would have sworn that there had to be multiple narrators.

I also love how Ms. Gilbert conveys the emotion or pace of the scene by the way she tells the story. I was easily able to pick up when danger was near just by the speed of her delivery. Likewise the romantic, passionate scenes are equally evident from her performance; and the heat level is definitely aided by her enactment of these scenes.

Twice Tempted delivered on all fronts. Plenty of fast-paced action, hot steamy scenes, food for thought and of course the magnificent narration, making Twice Tempted a great choice for an audiobook listen! I can't wait to dive into Book 3, Bound by Flames!

I’m still obsessed with the Night Huntress Universe and I do not care. I mean, is it really a surprise at this point that I thoroughly enjoyed Twice Tempted? This is such a great world and I’ll never be ready to fully say goodbye.

Leila is a great heroine and I admire her strength and courage. Nothing seems to keep her down. But girl had me so frustrated for the first half of the book. She is so smart, but she was not acting smart for the first half of the book. She didn’t trust her instincts or think things through and I wanted to shake her. Also she still tends to do reckless things in a world she does not understand, which makes me crazy. But she is learning and growing and I’m loving her growth. The first half had me crazy with both her and Vlad, but the second half of the book I was utterly in love with.

Vlad, surprisingly, is probably my least favorite of all of Jeaniene’s guys. He is still better than most other book boyfriends out there, but for me I think I still love Bones, Spade, and Mencheres more. Vlad is just so overbearing and overprotective at times and I get frustrated with him, but I still love him and holy swoon does he deliver. There was one scene in particular that was up on the level of Chapter 32 in One Foot In The Grave.

The plot kept me engaged and kept me guessing. Well there was one thing I pegged early, but other than that I kept changing my suspicions which was fun. Book could have used more Bones though. I’d never say no to more Bones.

All in all, Twice Tempted was a great read and Jeaniene Frost delivered yet again. I am so thankful I dove into this world.

3.5 to 4 Stars... I really enjoyed this book overall, it holds all the components we expect from a Jeanine Frost novel romance, adventure, intrigue, and even elements of darkness... I felt invested in the story from start to finish and am interested to see how the relationship between Vlad and Leila unfolds... For me, at times the story seemed somewhat predictable in it’s direction, almost like a “Been there, done that” sort of feel... I think I was expecting a little more tension and conflict to build before the resolutions came, however I look forward to continuing with the series and seeing the direction the author takes this couple:)

Leila is a human with a special power and she's in love with a vampire named Vlad, yes that Vlad. He shows her in his own way that he cares for her but she wants him to love her and say the words but he can't. There are two vampires that care for Leila but her heart belongs to Vlad, but when an explosion happens, she's not sure who she can trust.

I started out not liking Vlad at all but I could understand why he was emotionally cutting himself off from the woman who loved him with all her heart. Even vampires can be hurt by love and he's determined not to let that happen again. So he and Leila part ways but he comes back as fast as he can when he finds out she's in danger...I guess he really does love her.

Vlad may be an alpha uber vamp with serious control issues but underneath it all Leila might actually be able to find the caring vampire that she's longing for.

I loved that in the beginning of the book where there was a vampire named Hannibal. How fitting is that? Crazy, blood sucking man named Hannibal. I'm just surprised that someone hadn't thought of that before now.

The bad guy turns out to be someone who's into witchcraft and just when we think they'll be caught, they use a spell to make the rats who are around where they are attack the good guys. Now you know this was one of my favorite parts. It's like they took a page right out of Willard *one of my favorite movies* and took control of the rats.

Oh and there were ghouls and ghouls eat vampires as well as people!

I loved this book. All the action, the mystery, the romance and getting to know Vlad, who is a blood thirsty psycho but at the same time can love the woman who loves him for who he is. I loved everything about this book...until I got to the end and there was a cliffhanger. What? Why would you do that to me? C'mon! If you're going to go through the entire book trying to figure out who is trying to kill you and you finally find out who it is...you end the book finding him and making him pay for his transgressions. What you don't do is leave the end of the story on a cliffhanger where you have to read the next book to find out what happens next. And because of that ending I'm giving this book 4 out of 5 stars instead of the 5 stars I intended to give it while I was reading it.

I've had Twice Tempted for years sitting on my shelf - but I was holding off on reading it because I wanted to finish out The Night Huntress Series first and that was a BIG mistake. See, something that happened in the final Night Huntress book was a spoiler for Twice Tempted and I was SO MAD.

Anyway.

I was wanting to read a book with a familiar world and characters that I loved, just because. And what's better than a Vlad book?

I want to talk about this world for a minute. Let us set aside the fact that it's awesome, I love how there is SO much in this world to explore. I have adored every book focused around it and I just can't get enough!

However, I can't say that I am in love with this one. There are a lot of THINGS in Twice Tempted that were used in other books in the series so the novelty kind of wore off awhile ago. Not to mention, as much as I LOVE Leila, her insecurities with herself and her relationship with Vlad proved how NOT READY she is to be brought into this world entirely. I see some her points but at the same time, I am just... UGH GROW UP GIRL. That being said, I do love how she is still trying to harness her powers and learn more about them. She is strong in that aspect.

On to Vlad. He has been my favorite secondary character in the Night Huntress series and I am so happy he gets a series and not just one book. His character is very complex and the depth IS there. While I knew he always had a soft side, I almost feel like it was exploited in Twice Tempted. (No thanks to Leila). Where is the BAMF from the other books? GONE. Just, GONE.

I do love their chemistry, and while I don't think Leila was ready for what happened in this installment and I wish Vlad wasn't such a damn pushover, I do love them together. I am ready for their trials to be over so they can start the life they deserve. Let's hope that Leila grows up a little in the mean time, hmm?

This book sees Vlad and Leila's relationship tested as well as solidified. Also tested are the loyalties of several of Vlad's top men and closest friends. Some pass the test, some don't, but what's clear almost from the beginning that things will never quite be the same again in Vlad's household. For many, the changes they go through make them stronger, and this new found strength is at times to be seen in unexpected places. Others, however, seem to diminish in character, and rarely is it easy to tell who can and cannot be trusted. By the end, answers to some questions that lingered at the end of the first book have been found, but those answers mostly just give rise to new questions.

Leila seems to be quickly becoming an old hat at making difficult decisions, starting with having to decide whether or not she can remain with Vlad when it seems increasingly clear that he isn't going to give her any more of a commitment than he has thusfar and will continue to be emotionally unavailable as they say. A disastrous misunderstanding eventually makes her decision for her and she ends up traveling back to Florida to try to pick up the threads of her old life once again. But as the saying goes, you can't go home again, and Leila quickly discovers that she won't be able to pick up where she left off when she was so rudely abducted in the first book. She's not the same person she was before, but this is mostly all for the good as it helps her keep her wits about her when she becomes an unintentional danger to herself, let alone to others. While she stumbles a time or two along the way as is to be expected given her youth and relative inexperience at swimming with sharks so to speak, she mostly manages to make the right decisions when it matters the most.

Vlad is somewhat surprising in this book, but then again, not really. He had seemed to almost be turning a bit soft in the first book, tempering his usual swift and vicious paybacks to a degree that was sometimes surprising. He's back to his old ruthless form here, but at the same time manages to find a way to open up more regarding his emotions, at least to Leila. What is surprising is that his declarations to her are at times made in public, something that the old Vlad would never have done. In typical Vlad form though he often manages to find a way to be truly frightening at the same time as he's admitting to certain (so-called) weaknesses. He becomes even more permissive with Leila in some ways, but more and more there is a "catch" to it. He shows that he's willing to cede to her on some points, but increasingly requires with implacable resolve that she likewise cede to him on another.

As is likely obvious from my comments above, their relationship is more tumultuous than ever in this book. And yet, it's obvious from the start that these are exactly the sorts of growing pains the relationship needs to go through. It's also even more obvious that Leila is the perfect mate for Vlad because he needs someone who can and will stand up to him the way she does. He would never be able to respect, let alone fall in love with, a woman that he could dominate and order around the way he does everyone else save for a very select few. They do seem to have found some sort of workable equilibrium between them by the end, though it is far from a stable one just yet and I've little doubt that things between them will continue to be stormy for awhile to come. But then what do you expect when fire and lightning come together?

Yet again in this series and universe I have nothing but glowing recommendations for this book. Definitely read the first book before reading this one, however, for you really do need the understanding of the characters you gain in the first book to fully understand and appreciate some of the subtleties in this one. 5 solid stars.

I have to say that I was more pleased with this entry than I was with the prior book in the series. The last one, Once Burned, was OK but was fairly mediocre when compared to the rest of the books by Frost. I actually put off listening to this one for a while, as I was afraid of having a similar experience. I'm thankful to say that this was far more enjoyable.

The good thing is that Leila gets a bit more likable in this entry. She's not really moping about or trying to really gain Vlad's attention, which is a bonus. She also seems to come a little more into her own, making her less of a clone of the other female characters. It makes me like her a little more, even though some readers will probably find her actions (on the run from Vlad) similar to how Cat had previously tried to run from Bones in prior novels. However this element was one of the better ones in the novel, so I doubt anyone will overly care much. The villain of the book was neat enough and made for an interesting read. I have to say that I liked her more than I did the baddie of the previous book.

This was, as always, very well narrated by Tavia Gilbert. She has a wonderful way of voicing everyone, as well as throwing a lot of heat into the more spicy scenes. It will probably ensure that you won't be listening to it around a good many people without your headphones on, but it's worth downloading.

Overall, I'd say that while the Night Prince trilogy is still the weakest part of the overall NH world, this second book takes a good step to making it a lot stronger. Hopefully the next book in this series will strengthen this that much more and give us a nice satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

I think Charlaine Harris says it best on the jacket of TWICE TEMPTED - "I always open a Frost book with happy anticipation." Charlaine, I couldn't agree more. There is just something about Jeaniene Frost that is no bulls***, easy, fun, and always filled with betrayals and redemption. She holds true to her characters through and through, and there is always a learning curve, her characters constantly evolving. She is the one author that I read just as much for the urban fantasy, mystery as I do her main couple. In some books, I just want to see the romance, but Frost envelops her reader so well, that you don't end up missing anything, just her next book because the read always ends too soon.

I have noticed the font size increase in the Vlad books, because they seem to be shorter than Cat and Bones which makes me sad, but I still run out and get them the day of.

If you have never started Cat and Bones, start their journey from the beginning and work your way to Vlad and Leila.

As for the story in this particular installment, it was fast-paced and left as many questions as answers. Vlad and Leila are really perfect for each other and I love that we never see Vlad as a sappy love struck puppy. He's a pompous ass and that just won't change. It's fantastic and we love him anyway. Leila is fierce and independent, and a kick-ass heroine just like Cat (well, I like Cat much better now than I did in the beginning).

Go and read Frost ASAP!

4.5-5 stars

This was a great addition the the series. Vlad and Leila have some issues. Leila has lost the use of her powers (probably only a temporary loss) and doubts Vlad's interest in her. Some unresolved issues cause a separation, during which Leila encounters some issues that indicate someone is trying to kill her. A supposed friend that is helping her out convinces her that the attempted murder might be Vlad so Leila goes on a mission to find the person responsible. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, she comes back together with Vlad. They work out what was keeping them apart but they still have issues to work through as Leila is a modern woman and Vlad is a possessive and very protective alpha male. They work through them though and strengthen their relationship even more. They work on finding who was behind the attempts on Leila's life but it is part of a larger scheme so they have some success but the ending is still a bit of a cliffhanger as far as the action plot goes. Vlad and Leila are firmly together and happy by the end though and ready to face the future together.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. I've actually read it a few times before but hadn't reviewed it yet. I just love Vlad and Leila. Vlad is such a badass but yet so devoted to his woman (once her finally admits his feelings) that I couldn't help but love him. Leila is a good strong heroine that I really l like and think is a good match for Vlad. I'm looking forward to book #3. :-)

Note - I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrator does a great job, especially with Vlad's voice.

I am just so happy Jeaniene wrote this spin off. I love her Night Huntress series but the last few books have just not been doing it for me, but these Night Prince books have the feel like the beginning of Night Huntress did. I LOVE them. And Twice Tempted was just as amazing as Once Burned. I gobbled up this story. Its is simply unputdownable!!

Vlad is just sexy! He is arrogant and ruthless and he seems amazing in the sack! But being the prince of darkness has some draw backs, like letting the women he loves leave him because he just can't imagine someone leaving him or he can't bring himself to admit his feelings for her. And Leila just wants the man she loves to love her in return, oh and to add a toilet to his bathroom damn it! Who knew toilets could mean so much in a relationship?

When Leila leaves Vlad things really take a turn for the worse. She is being stalked by a killer, and Maximus even convinces her it might be Vlad. I thought Leila pretty gullible when she believed that. Its obvious Maximus wants Leila, I mean he straight says so I was surprised when she really believed Vlad would do something like this. But even if she thought in the end she needed Vlad's help and he was right there.

It was just awesomely good. There was so much that happened. And I think you should just read it to see what it was. Leila has a lot of near death experiences, her humanity is on the line, Vlad lets us in a little, their relationship takes a shocking twist, Leila proves to Vlad she loves him the Prince of Darkness, Vlad does something so sweet involving a toilet, the sex was crazy hot and through it all there is a traitor among them! My only complaint is that Ian was no where in this book, true he had no reason to be but I miss him.

A steamy, satisfying read is exactly what fans expect when Jeaniene Frost puts words to paper, and with “Twice Tempted,” that’s exactly what we get.
Leila Dalton, typically a bold and secure woman, has had it. Her relationship is in trouble and she’s somehow slipped into the trap of being a clingy, uptight girlfriend. But it’s not like there’s a “Dating Dracula for Dummies,” to give her the ins and outs of what one should expect when they are dating/living with the original prince of darkness. A powerful psychic, Leila has a unique set of skills which have temporarily taken a holiday, only to be replaced by something a bit more combustible and that’s just the first of her problems.
When Vlad begins to acts distant, Leila realizes she’s looking for more permanence in their relationship, not immortality—Leila wants commitment and a ring on her finger. Having been around for centuries, Vlad’s idea of permanence is nowhere in the ballpark of a wedding, especially when a fling, for him, could last decades. When Leila ends it all, after an embarrassing and semi-public miscommunication, she fights problem two and heads back to Florida and a world she’s left behind: the carnival.
However, the third and most challenging problem is that someone wants her dead and they have no problem jumping the pond to kill her. But problem four soon swoops in when Leila realizes—with the aid of Vlad’s soon-to-be former second in command—that her extermination could have been ordered by anyone. Even Vlad.
Guaranteed to sink its fangs in and not let go, Frost weaves a captivating tale and knows how to keep the reader turning the pages.

What's the best way to judge how good a book truly is? How long it takes you to read it. Read this one in a day and a half, all while juggling the kids, work and friggin' Girl Scouts. Though I still regret reading Up From The Grave BEFORE reading Twice Tempted, since it will gave away such a big secret, "seeing" the way it played out was phenomenal.

While I am still extremely hurt to have had to say goodbye to Cat and Bones, I am equally as glad to have Leila and Vlad. To say these two are another dynamic duo to be a drastic understatement. With his pyrokenisis and her electrical currents, not to mention both of their temperaments, they truly know how to heat up a page. And if there was ever a true match for Vlad the Impaler, Leila has truly proved to be it.

Vlad has kept his heart wrapped in a cage of ice for centuries, not an easy thing to do when you're the Prince of Flames. So should come as no wonder that he finds it difficult to allow himself to admit is true feelings for Leila. After-all, they both went into this relationship under the agreement of remaining strictly physical. And we all know which road is paved with good intentions. Leila comes to her final straw after the proposal she is given is far from what she expected, and gives Vlad an ultimatum. When he makes the wrong decision, she does the unthinkable and leaves. Heading back to the carnival and a whole new heap of trouble. Leila will learn the hard way that Vlad isn't the only one who likes playing with fire, with deadly circumstances. As she is the initial target Leila is faced with a decision of her own; to trust the man she loves and humiliated by walking away from, or the man she considers a friend and has never kept his desires a secret. So the question becomes whether the threat on her life is an act of vengeance, a ploy at a deadly love affair or whole new party altogether.

Pages filled with blood, mayhem, betrayal, deadly desires, manipulation, heat and gruesome death, readers will not be able to put this book down until the last page. There is never a dull moment when dealing with Vlad Basarab Dracul. And pity the man, or woman, who dare cross him. Both Once Burned and Twice Tempted are true must reads for true vampire lovers. Please do not cheat yourself and read this book as a stand alone. At least start with Once Burned, but to get the full affect, read the entire Night Huntress Universe series. And look out for the final installment to Leila and Vlad's trilogy, due out in December, 2014.

The experience of reading this book is like being a dust bunny in the path of a super suction vacuum cleaner – once I got started, reality fell away and the only thing that existed was Vlad and Leila. There was no escape.

I had read Once Burned, the first book that introduced me to Vlad and Leila, and I was astounded as to the originality and the quality of writing that took place in that novel. It ended with a not so happy type of cliff hanger so I was both cautious and curious to start Twice Tempted. I didn’t know where Ms. Frost was going to take her characters – further estrangement, using that as one of the plot conflicts, or advancing their romance to the next step, fighting and screaming all the way. I’m thrilled to report that this story is written just as powerfully with an almost absolute perfect balance of suspense, drama, intense passion and a delightful and thoroughly captivating culmination of their courtship and romance.

Of course, Vlad is not a typical hero. In fact, he is a cold blooded killer. His sense of justice is extreme and his methods of punishment are medieval and brutal and in the beginning Leila was horrified that he wielded his weapons with so much gusto. The hero is a very scary man. However in this book, told through Leila’s eyes, he’s so much more. In fact, that is how this novel is told – through Leila’s first person point of view and Ms. Frost never missed a beat. Usually I find first person POV hard to get into. Not so with Twice Tempted. I was solidly in Leila’s head but because the author has such a strong command of dialogue, expressions, descriptions and mood setting, it was a smooth yet commanding read and I reveled in it. The author used the secondary characters to give Leila the clues she needed to understand what was happening or what was about to. When she understood, I understood. The author’s expertise in crafting her characters in this book was clear and bold.

If readers missed the first book, Once Burned, they won’t get too lost in reading this sequel. Ms. Frost did play catch up at certain points to make sure a new reader understood the ramifications of certain choices made by the characters in a few scenes. Since I’d forgotten some of the finer points, it was a good refresher for me and I think just right for new readers too. One thing is for sure, some of the secondary characters mentioned in both Once Burned and Twice Tempted were from the other series that Ms. Frost is famous for. I’ve never read them but after my experience with these two novels, I’m going to be looking into getting all the back books. I can only hope my purse doesn’t scream OUCH! too loud since it looks like there are quite a few. If the quality is anything like reading Vlad and Leila’s story, I’m going to be a very contented reader – and broke.

The hardest thing about writing this review is avoiding the spoilers. There are so many things I’d love to share! I’ll give hints: the explosion, the betrayal, the villain, the cool thing about the flowers, the boat, the explanation of ghouls and what happens to poor Maximus. And the rats! Oh good gravy, the rats! That’s just for starters. Twice Tempted is simply amazing because it’s meaty, diverse, enthralling and intense and is a real page flipper.

Twice Tempted blew me away and everything about the heroine totally rocked! Yes, I liked the dynamics between Vlad and Leila, and Vlad is one sexy, arrogant and complex hunk, but Leila’s character impressed me 100%. There were three times that the author could have written her actions as a typical cliché but instead she surprised me, pleased me and garnered my respect. The paragraph of introspection where Leila ruminated over life and living was a breath of fresh air and what came afterwards pushed all of my happy buttons. Twice Tempted is going on my keeper shelf just like its predecessor, Once Burned. I know there is one more book coming because of what was discovered in the last chapter of Twice Tempted and I guarantee it’s going to be an auto-buy. Ms. Frost is now on my short list of must read authors. She’s earned it with these Night Prince novels. I’m very happy to recommend this book, and indeed this series, to all paranormal romance fans. It’s high caliber writing.

So, I raved about ONCE BURNED, the first in the Night Prince series. I went on and on in my review about how fantastic ONCE BURNED was then I read TWICE TEMPTED and Jeaniene Frost exceeded all my expectations. Although I didn’t think it possible, I enjoyed TWICE TEMPTED more than ONCE BURNED. Ms. Frost gives the reader more insight into Vlad and the reasoning why he is so cold to Leila at times. It’s not that he doesn’t love Leila, he’s terrified of loving her too much, losing her, then having to endure the pain of her loss.

Leila is just as stubborn and strong-willed as ever, honing her skills while enduring great highs and lows in her life. Together they make a dynamic, incredible couple.

So, I’ve been told that the Night Prince series is a spinoff of Ms. Frost’s extremely popular Night Huntress series. Although I’ve read the first book in the Night Huntress series, in my haste, I also started this series. Because the characters from Night Huntress bleed over into this one, there were a couple of scenes where I missed some backstory as a result of not reading all the Night Huntress books first. However, that minor bump in the road didn’t stop me from immensely enjoying this book…as you can see from my review. You will not be disappointed with these books, no matter where you start!

Focused. Strong. True.

I liked this book more than the first Night Prince novel, but I still struggled with Vlad. Luckily, this story had Leila really shining and I enjoyed that and the story very much. Does she or Vlad and her as a couple come close to the magnetism of Bones and Cat, no, but it is an enjoyable read and she was a great heroine. I appreciated getting more from Vlad in terms of emotions and background in this book than the first one, but he still failed to live up to my expectations. He seemed to have such a captivating persona in the Night Huntress series, but it's flat once he became a primary character. I know he's supposed to be aloof, but it comes across as bland more than aloof and that's frustrating. Thankfully, Leila and the underlying plot is enough to carry the book.

Twice Tempted is the second book in the Night Prince series, better known as 'Vlad's books'. These spinoffs of Frost's Night Huntress series have been highly anticipated due to readers love of Vlad, myself included. In the first Vlad book, Once Burned, I found myself loving the book for what it was, a great mix and urban fantasy and paranormal romance, but slightly disappointed in the lack of usual Vlad snark. I was also caught off guard that the book was told from the first person POV of new character, and eventual love interest of Vlad, Leila. I'm not sure who I thought would be narrating these books, but I wasn't ready to get inside the head of a new lady when what I really wanted was Vlad. Don't get me wrong, I still loved the book and rated it 4.5 stars, I had just been looking for something a little different. A case of a reader starting a book with different expectations I guess.

Fast forward to me starting Twice Tempted. I know Leila as a character now, and have found her likable, strong, and a good match for my man, Vlad. She doesn't just swoon and take his s***. She demands more from him and she's a heroine I can respect. I know what to expect now from Vlad in these books. He's not trading snarky insults with Bones or building a friendship with Cat. We are seeing him in his element as a Prince and leader of his people, and he rules with an iron fist. Not a lot of time for snark (although Frost does manage to slip it in there occasionally). I knew what to expect from this book and that made me so much more involved in it. I read it straight through for six hours without stopping and devoured every bit of it.

Vlad is powerful, confident, and unyielding. But, its his strength, and his own awareness of that strength, that makes him so sexy. All of these traits carry over into his relationship with Leila and cause some rifts between them. Needless to say, when this book begins they are having some problems. These problems lead to Leila leaving Romania and attempting to re-join carnival life with Marty, her vampire best friend. The plot focuses on two things: the search for the dangerous someone who is out to kidnap or kill Leila and Vlad and Leila trying to reach a common ground in their relationship. Of course these two plots intertwine as Leila continually puts herself in dangerous situations to find the 'bad guy', Vlad tries to force her not to be reckless, and the two argue about whether or not Vlad is in love with Leila.

This book actually felt a little like some of the old school Cat and Bones books, before their relationship was secure and they became a steadfast team. Vlad and Leila go through some similar situations and I love that Frost didn't give them an HEA at the end of book one and is really making them both work for it.

A LOT happens in this book, involving both the plot and the relationship. By the end, readers will feel rewarded and excited to see where the last in the trilogy will take Vlad and Leila. I am impressed with how well Frost has written the complicated relationship between these two: a damaged heroine just beginning to understand her own strength and an all-powerful Master vampire famous for instilling fear and respect who is learning that he can love and be loved in return. Their relationship is very difficult and I enjoyed reading how Frost pushes each of them to their limits with each other.

Twice Tempted is an exciting and sexy read that I greedily devoured. It left me saying "More Vlad!" and I can't wait for the next one!

Recommended for fans of: Vlad (duh), urban fantasy romance, vampire romance, complicated relationships, and hot sex that rivals Chapter 32 (oh yay, I'm serious).

The blurb says that dating the prince of darkness has it challenges, and does it ever! I've always liked Vlad. He's such an unrepentant alpha bastard, that I can't help but have a soft spot for him. He entertains me like no other, but I could never be in a relationship with someone like that. This book really drove that point home. Leila is a strong woman, but putting up with the attitude and indifference from Vlad would be enough to break anyone. It's bad enough that he's a vampire and barely conceals his contempt for her being human, but when you throw in his antiquated male chauvinist point of view, it's too much.

The book begins by throwing the reader right into the loneliness and heartache Leila is experiencing. She is stuck in an unfulfilling relationship with a man uninterested in compromising. She has the option of leaving him, but there are also various vampires just waiting to kill her, and those close to her, the moment she lets her guard down. Leaving Vlad, and his protection, will definitely put her safety at risk. There is also the bigger issue of her being in love with him. She has some difficult decisions to make, and they'll affect more than just her.

I was surprised by how much I was pulled into this book. How could I possibly have forgotten how great the Night Prince and Night Huntress books are?! The first chapter felt like visiting old friends that I hadn't realized I missed so much. Of course, there was the irritating but lovable Vlad. Bringing him some humility is Leila, she such a great character. She is strong, loyal, courageous, and passionate. She embodies all the qualities I admire, so I couldn't help but like her more and more as the book went on. Vlad made me want to strangle him, but I could never stay angry with him for too long.

Twice Tempted has an excellent mixture of their continued relationship, which is far from becoming stale, along with adventure and suspense. Leila and Vlad are not getting along, and someone is doing their best to kill her. Making the killer's job easier is an unknown traitor within Vlad's inner circle who has turned against him. It was fantastic, both fast paced and compelling. The only complaint I have is the ending. I realize urban fiction generally ends with a cliffhanger, but this one took me by surprise. I felt the buildup of the suspense, but the ultimate climax and unresolved issues weren't as good as I was expecting. It was actually a bit anti-climactic, at least in comparison to other scenes in the book, and I didn't realize it was the end. I went to flip the page on my nook and realized there wasn't any more. I was a bit dumbstruck to realize it was done. That's not the best final thought upon finishing a book. Still, up until that point I was loving it. I absolutely recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book, I read it in one and a half days, only during lunch and after work!

I like Leila and Vlad together. They can be a little over the top with how they deal with each other and relationship woes, but the chemistry works! I feel like we got to know Leila even more and I like her. She seems to want to take on the burden of the protecting everyone she knows. That's probably why she fell so easily for the story about Vlad. I also liked that we get to dig deeper into what makes Vlad tick, why he's such a crazy and temperamental vamp.

I was very happy to see Cat and Bones, if even for a short time. I was hoping to see the friendship between Cat and Vlad, but that didn't happen. Instead we get to experience Cat and Leila interact and I like them as friends. They seem like they will develop a friendship outside of their powerful men.

I was a bit disappointing with the end. It was like I felt that we should have had more closure, same as with Once Burned, I didn't really feel that the ending was climatic. It was almost like the book was cut short at an odd point.

When a few things that happen in Once Burned were brought up, I was like "oh, yea!" I had forgotten that. Being that I read Once Burned before I started the Night Huntress series, I didn't make a lot of the connections. But having retrospect, I'm seeing things with new eyes having read all 6 of the NH books.

This series can definitely be stand alone, but you're missing the bigger picture if you don't read the NH series first. Plus as with the Night Huntress World heroines, I'm sure that we'll see Leila married to Vlad in one of the upcoming books in the NH series.

If you enjoyed Once Burned, I recommend Twice Tempted. If was fast paced, drama filled and you get to understand a lot more about Vlad the impaler. He's twisted and mean, but down deep he's a softy. Who knew someone so cruel could be so good! ;-)

Leila Dalton is happy to have survived the ordeal with her lover, Vlad's, foe. It's too bad she lost her psychic gift in the process. She is madly in love with Vlad and would like to spend the rest of her life with him but first she needs to be sure that he actually loves her. She's afraid he will get tired of her and cast her to the side. So Leila is going to take drastic measures to force Vlad to face his feelings. Vlad isn't used to someone questioning his commands but that's all Leila seems to do. He is humiliated when she turns down his gift and then she up and leaves him.

Leila decides to go back to carnival life and become her old persona "Frankie" once again. Unfortunately, disaster strikes the carnival leaving many dead. Now Leila and her protector Max, Vlad's second-in-command, set out to find who is behind the carnival tragedy. Will they find the truth before it's too late? What will happen when Vlad discovers his ex-lover and second-in-command have been playing detective without him?

Jeaniene Frost serves up perfection with her latest Night Prince novel, Twice Tempted. The wait was long for this novel but it was so worth it. From page one I knew this was going to be a great read! I became immersed immediately with Leila and Vlad's latest predicament. Leila's feelings are very human and Vlad's reaction is one typical of a seasoned vampire.

Lust, danger and possessive alpha males make Twice Tempted a first-rate paranormal novel! It's impossible to miss the immense passion between Leila and Vlad. When these two are alone in a room or alone in each other's mind the heat between them sparks. I really enjoyed the direction this book took by confronting Vlad's feelings and forcing Leila to face what she really wanted. The mystery surrounding the latest danger is a good one and it adds the right amount of suspense to the novel. The action sequences were amazing and it was fantastic to get to see Leila embrace her powers.

I get so excited when I get a Frost book in the mail because I know that the writing is going to be outstanding and that her story will take me on a new adventure. Twice Tempted does that and more. Get ready for shock and awe as you flip the pages of the phenomenal Twice Tempted.

Twice Tempted is a smash hit, that's why I'm Joyfully Recommending it!!

While I didn't dislike the book I can't claim to have liked it as much as the first book. For one thing I thought the characters started to drift a little. Leila went from a strong-willed, determined heroine to a whinny, clingy, girlfriend of the worst kind. Now, I still respected the fact that she was willing to walk away. That pretty much rocked, but that was only a small part of the book.

Then there was the whole pseudo-love triangle in the first half of the book. Nope, didn't care for that much--both because I don't care for love triangles and because I wanted to know more about Vlad, not Maximus. (Though I did like Maximus and would love to see him happy at some point.)

Then there was the whiplash worthy change of heart Vlad had toward the end that felt so very unnatural. It was, of course, necessary for the plot to progress, but if felt pretty darned sudden. (As did the wedding. Where did that come from?)

I did like Vlad's super protectiveness. I do love seeing a strong man fighting to protect what he loves, but the reader saw so little emotion from him in general that his sudden effusiveness was almost painful. The book is still a fun little bit of fluff. I'm not wholly disparaging it. But it's not as strong a book as Once Burned.

I also found the same editorial issues as in book one to be present in this one. It just wouldn't be fair to skip mentioning it just because this is a big name publisher. I expect more.

Vlad is back! It's been a couple of months since Once Burned. Leila is still living with Vlad. Unfortunately for Leila not much else has changed. Vlad still refuses to admit he loves Leila. Leila is worried about her powers coming back, but that pales in comparison to her worries about Vlad. Her heart can no longer handle Vlad's cold and distant behavior. The time has come for Leila to make a choice. Stay with Vlad who refuses to admit he loves her or spend the rest of her life without the man she loves most. Twice Tempted is fast-paced, action packed and an emotional roller coaster.

The first 22 chapters show Vlad's other persona. Not the relaxed Vlad from the Night Huntress series. We see Vlad the ruler, who is a constant arrogant jackass. Although it's not my favorite side of Vlad, it was nice to see how he's forced to act around other vampires and his people.

I feel a little sorry for Leila in this book. It takes her so long to realize the Vlad has to act a certain way when other people are around and that her actions are a direct reflection upon him. It completely sucks, but hey living in a castle comes with a particular set of rules. I love the compromise she found. Leila manages to keep who she is without compromising the safety that Vlad spent his entire undead life working for.

I can't wait for the next book in this stellar series. As always, I will be impatiently waiting.

Holy HOT wow! I just love this whole Night Huntress series, but if you are a regular reader then you know that Vlad is my favorite character and has been since he was just a minor character way back in the beginning. That said, I didn't like him quite as much in this book, he just doesn't quite seem to be himself in this one. Most of it was the way he treated Leila through most of the book. I felt like he was almost a minor character in this installment. I realize that this is Leila's story and it's told from her POV, but I felt like Vlad was missing from a lot of this story and when he was there he just really wasn't very nice to Leila.

The heat from the first book was missing with this one for most of the book and then things start to happen really quickly. There are things that happen in this book that seen very rushed, a lot of really important things happen and then the book is over! I am looking forward to the last book in this trilogy, I can't wait to see how things turn out for Vlad and Leila.

There are a couple of steamy love scenes in this book, but to be honest I was a little disappointed considering some of Ms. Frost's other work. They were just okay. I was pleased to see Mencheres and even Cat make an appearance in this one. The absence of Bones was a little disappointing though.

If you liked the first book in this series you are sure to like this one. Also, you don't need to have read any of the other Night Huntress books to enjoy this part of the series.

My rating 4.5

Vlad, Vlad, Vlad, I get it. You're a medieval warlord and uber-master vamp. Any perceived sign of weakness spells doom for not only you, but your entire family. But loving Leila isn't a weakness. Just say the damn words already!! Leila, you know all this about Vlad. He's THE Impaler for pete's sake. But I'm not going to argue your methods as your leaving did pay off, didn't it!

Once I started Twice Tempted I couldn't put it down! Honestly, I finished the entire book in about five hours and was left begging for more with this fabulous couple! Jeaniene proves, yet again, what a master storyteller she is! She seamlessly weaves action, suspense, humor and romance into a tale that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Oh, and the sex scenes....yep, those are scorching hot!

Since Twice Tempted is set in the Night Huntress world, we're treated to cameos from Mencheres and our favorite red-head, Cat! We also get to catch up with some favorite secondary characters from the Night Prince series including Marty, Maximus, and Gretchen as Leila and Vlad seek out the latest threat against them.

As I said earlier, Twice Tempted left me wanting more and we'll get it! There's one more book in store and I'll be on pins and needles until it comes out.

I'll admit...it's been so long since a new Jeaniene Frost book came out that I wasn't all that excited to read Twice Tempted. I'd forgotten the plot of the first book, and much about the characters.

I stumbled upon the Night Huntress books after several had already been published so I was able to read those all together.I love the writing, the characters, the series....but they don't come out frequently enough to keep me interested. Also, the author isn't very active on social media so I'm rarely reminded of her stories until a book release is just upon us.

Anyway...

TT sat on my the store wishlist as a reminder but I kept putting off the purchase because I wasn't sure if I was still interested. After much deliberation, I decided to read Twice Tempted and as soon as I got past the second page I was sucked right back into the book/s.

I'm so disappointed I have to wait so long for the next book - or any book by Miss Frost - but such is life.

I hadn't being all that hot for the first book so I picked this book and thought "I am going to read it and see where it goes" but it blew my mind. Watching Vlad and Leila hammer out their problems is more fun than watching them get together. And throughout it all, the intensity of their relationship is felt even when temporarily apart.

Leila grows a serious backbone in this book and Vlad, well... he is on fire. I found myself going from having wanting to impale him myself in the first book to actually feeling for him when Leila breaks his heart. Somehow, I felt that the break up was harder on him because he was the one getting left behind. There is a certain dignity, strength and sense of control over the situation that comes when you walk out of relationship and Leila, even in her heartbreak, experience this.

I love every minute of this book, saying any more about it would just spoil it but this was a great addition to the "Night Prince' trilogy and I am almost sad that Vlad and Leila won't be getting the Cat and Bones treatment and having more books written about them.

Vlad is one of my top paranormal crushes so whenever I pick-up a Night Prince book my expectations are exceedingly high. After having nailed the first installment, Once Burned, I was anxious to see whether Frost would maintain her momentum with this series. Well, let's just say that my thoughts on the matter are a resounding YES! Correction, make that a HECK YES! There's great character growth on both the Vlad and Leila fronts, the pacing and action are fan-freaking-tastic and, the sex scenes are some of the best that Jeanine has ever written.

Going into this novel my thoughts were abuzz with all things Vlad so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Leila's POV in Twice Tempted. In the earlier chapters of this book she ends up going off on her own after a spat with Tepesh and this allows readers to spend some quality time with just her. I loved how she stuck to her guns, refused to settle and actually had the courage to walk away from Vlad. I also like how contrary her character is; she's capable of wielding immense power and yet, she's still only human. One minute she's suffering a nosebleed from using her telekinetic abilities too much and the next, she's giving Dracula a run for his money in the scary don't-mess-with-me department.

Vlad is absolutely fabulous in this installment and the fact that Jeaniene only gives us brief glimpses of him early on made my anticipation all the more torturous. I was a little disappointed by how quickly he gave into Leila's demands but then again, when you're centuries old you tend to know what you want. I was happy with how Frost developed his character because even though he does own up to his feelings, they in no way diminish his alpha male status. He's still Vlad the Impaler. No question about it.

The story is entertaining with plenty of intrigue that's sure to keep you reading late into the night. And if that doesn't do it, long time fans of Jeaniene Frost have anxiously been waiting for her to top the infamous chapter 32 and yes, she's finally done it! I also loved Cat's cameo in this book; it was cute and managed to capture her character's mischievous nature in only a couple of sentences.

I can't believe that I've been waiting 9 months for more Vlad and that already, a day after Twice Tempted's release, I'm stuck waiting some more! This book has it all in spades: gory action, fiery romance and exquisite storytelling. This is vampire fiction at its finest.

I really liked this book, and its predecessor; however, I'm not sure if I'll continue reading this series. As much as I loved the story between Leila and Vlad, I feel as though it's reached its peak. What more can happen? As of right now, I can't think of anything the author could write that could add to this story. I don't want to give anything away, but let's just say it's the same reason I stopped reading the Night Huntress series after book five. As they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

As for Twice Tempted, I thought it was pretty great. It's such a good and easy read that it took me less than two days to finish. Like with all of Jeaniene Frost's books, there was plenty of action, humor, and red-hot romance. The characters Frost has created are unlike any other I've come across. Her heroines are badass, her heroes are dead-sexy (no pun intended) and each secondary character makes me hope they'll get stories of their own. While in my opinion this series is not quite as good as the Night Huntress series, it is a very close second. Frost writes books that inspire me to write, and that's just about the highest praise I can give an author.

He has immense power, wealth, and the ability to offer eternal youth yet all Leila wants from her vampire boyfriend is the one thing he claims he can never offer anyone. When she can no longer take Vlad's refusal to love her, Leila moves back to the states and returns to her job working at a carnival. After there's an explosion that proves to be intentional, Leila is pushed back into the immortal world and needs to figure out who to trust and who won't stop until she's dead.

Leila has made my very short list of favorite heroines. I've loved Vlad since his first appearance in the Night Huntress series but kudos to Leila for not accepting his 'I love no one and if walk away it's over for good' attitude. It didn't make for an easy read but I respect her for it. It's more than just this reason why I like Leila. When an explosion nearly kills her, Leila has to figure out who is behind the attempt on her life and who she can trust because loyalties are not what they once were. A lesser person wouldn't have been able handle all this on top of heartbreak but Leila keeps pushing through and battles against the odds. She's not perfect but her faults in addition to her strengths are what makes her a top notch heroine.

Vlad is the same ruthless, commanding, fire controlling vampire I've come to adore but part of him evolves for Leila. She works her way into a part of Vlad he dismissed as dead a long time ago and his past, both emotional and ruthless, is further explored because of it. He doesn't make things easy for Leila because the depth of his feelings for her is unmatched and once she takes him down that road, there's no turning back. I believe Vlad gets better with each book he's in and here, even when he's being an ass, he's at his best.

When the focus isn't on Leila and Vlad's relationship, it shifts to the search for the person behind who is trying to kill Leila and the list of suspects hits close to home for Vlad. I don't want to give away any huge spoilers but after reading the first book, it's easy to guess how most events in Twice Tempted will unfold yet I don't think that lessens what happens. It blew all my expectations away and was a better than I anticipated and I have to say, I set the bar high. Jeaniene Frost puts a lot of passion into her characters and there's certainly no shortage with Leila and Vlad. Things are not perfectly wrapped up in a neat bow at the end but I loved it and I can't wait to see what's in store next.

This story picks up right where Once Burned ended. There is a ton of romantic angst, a separation, a new villain to peak our interest. This book is more intense than its predecessor. There are bombing, kidnappings, battles on boats, assassination attempts in subway stations. The action just keeps coming, and it's pleasantly broken up by some very steamy romantic scenes. This book definitely kicks the heat up a notch when compared to its predecessor. There's even a few parts that I'd dare say rival the infamous chapter 32 from One Foot in the Grave.

Unfortunately where this series continues to fall short is the heroine herself. I've always felt that Leila was an odd choice of a partner for Vlad, but I was willing to give her a chance. Unfortunately, she continues to disappoint. It's not that she's not strong, and brave, and competent, because she is all of those things. Unfortunately she is also a poor planner, foolishly impulsive, and far too pushy romantically.

I love how fiercely loyal she is, and how ready she is to sacrifice for her friends, I just don't agree with the way she chooses to go about it. She leaps before she looks almost every time. It makes her seem stupid at times, but in truth I think she's just impulsive. Like the end of the last book where she decides to go into the mountain where the villain and his army are hiding, with only one person as backup. She doesn't do anything quite this colossally stupid in the Twice Tempted but there's still a scene at the end that had me yelling at her.

She also continues to be unreasonable and overly pushy romantically. Once scene in particular takes part at a dinner Vlad is throwing her honor. She's so certain he's going to propose, even though there are no rational reasons for her to make that assumption. He's given her no indication that he'd ever consider re-marrying. He still hasn't told her loves her, and he's been incredibly distant for weeks. But she's certain, and when he very predictably does not propose, she goes into high drama mode, and makes a big scene. In front of all of his entire family, even. Ugg. I almost stopped reading right there, but I'm so glad I didn't. Things do get much better from there.

What continues to make this series is Vlad. I love his brutality, his loyalty, and the strict code he follows. He makes an amazing friend, and a terrifying enemy. In Twice Tempted Vlad is forced to play the role of the spurned lover for the first time in his very long life, and it brings out some very delicious angst in him. He's fiercely possessive on a good day, but loosing Leila takes that possessiveness to a whole new level. He's seething with anger and raw frustrated sexual energy that just makes him HOT. You've never seen Vlad quite like this before.

Overall, Twice Tempted was a very exciting read. While Leila continues to frustrate me, the intense and well executed plot, the ridiculously hot romance, and Vlad himself made this book a four star read for me. Highly recommended.

QUOTE: "You should be afraid. Very afraid. Before, I told you if you wanted to end things between us, I would let you go, but, Leila"-- his voice deepened--" I lied."

This was absolutely remarkable and utterly delightful! I am totally loving this spin-off series about one of my most favorite Jeaniene Frost characters – Vlad, the vampire with an ‘impalement habit.’

TWICE TEMPTED is book #2 in the Night Prince series, and it continues showing how complex Vlad is, and what Leila needs to be happy living in his castle. I love how autocratic Vlad has always seemed to me, yet with Leila there is something more soft and caring about him. But there are some concessions he won’t make, though – saying ‘I love you’ is one of them.

Leila doesn’t have her powers anymore at the beginning of TWICE TEMPTED, and it seems to her that since she lost her powers, Vlad has lost interest in her. She is sad and doesn’t know what to do to try to re-ignite that fire they used to have. Instead of simply trying to talk things through with Vlad, though, she is withdrawing a little, and when there’s a big misunderstanding between them, she up and leaves for good!

Once Leila is back in the US, things start to happen very fast. First, there is a bomb, and Maximus comes back for her to make sure she’ll stay in hiding. Marty didn’t make it, and Leila is devastated to have lost her best friend. Leila is having trouble knowing who she should trust, and when Maximus tells her she should disappear and pretend she was the girl who was killed in the explosion, she goes with it.

There are two distinct plotlines in TWICE TEMPTED; one is about the love Vlad and Leila share for each other but have so much trouble actually sharing. Vlad is stubborn, but so is Leila – however, Vlad has centuries of experience on his side, so he seems to be a lot more fixed in his ways than Leila. The second plotline is about the person out to get Leila – and this is a great mystery. I was trying to figure out who it could be, and I came up empty.

I was even feeling quite worried for Leila’s safety at one point because she seemed to be in an impossible situation. The way she was able to get out of that situation was truly amazing and showed the power Leila has inside of her. I don’t only mean her psychic or electric power either, her inner strength really amazed me. And I don’t mean physical strength, I mean that intangible inner strength that makes her not give up. That makes her continue to fight for what is right, even when it can put her life in danger. That’s who Leila is to me.

Gretchen cracked me up – so insolent and non-caring about Vlad being a vampire. Like she really didn’t care what he could do to her if she did something wrong. Always counting on Leila to be there to defend her. And it was nice to see the two sisters mending their relationship a little, Vlad. of course, had the best one-liners again, I love his dry humor that is always delivered with class and a dose of irony.

There was a quick Cat sighting as well – and that made me want the next Night Huntress book. I love the whole universe Jeaniene Frost has created, both because the characters are so well done and because even if it is in a paranormal world, it makes sense. The vampires don’t make excuses for who or what they are, even as they do try to blend in as well. I love Vlad’s no-nonsense personality, and it was great to learn more about his past through Leila’s psychic powers. I thought it was very clever to let the readers know more about Vlad that way – it was like a secondary flashback instead of Vlad actually telling Leila much.

If you like reading paranormal romance, I recommend TWICE TEMPTED without any doubts in my mind that you’ll like it, too. It is not necessary to have read the Night Huntress series, nor the Night Huntress World series in order to follow what is happening, but I think it’s a good idea to read ONCE BURNED first, as it explains a lot about Leila’s powers and how she and Vlad met.

Vlad I have missed you so! I've missed your dominating, ruthless, protective ways. I have to admit I wanted to hurt you a little bit in the first novel, and then a little bit more in the beginning of TWICE TEMPTED, but then you go all..

"As if I'd settle for anything less than making you completely mine, as soon as possible."

and my heart melts for you once again!

Leila is probably one of my all time favorite heroines. She is hilarious, witty, and takes no crap from anyone...especially the handsome, alpha male Vlad. In this installment you see how tough and strong she is when she stands up to vampires, ghouls, and even her scary family.

"Mission accomplished. The stench might have actually killed my new appetite. If Hell could fart, it would smell like this."

Vlad and Lelia's relationship is very rocky (to say the least) at the beginning, but they have such great chemistry and they complement each other so well. Oh, and did I mention, the sexual tension between the two always make me smile.

"When I tie you up, I'll use silk, and I'll leave your hands free because I love to feel them on my skin."

Jeaniene Frost is one of my favorite authors in the paranormal genre, first with the Night Huntress Series, the Night Huntress World Series, and now the fantastic Night Prince novels. I love how all the characters intertwine and we always get appearances from some of our favorites. In TWICE TEMPTED, loyalties are tested, hearts are broken, and lives are changed forever. You will NOT want to set this book down.

Favorite heart melting VLAD quote:

"How often must I tell you that you mean more to me than vengeance? I can live without defeating my enemies, but I cannot live without you."

I do love Vlad!

This is the second in the new Vlad series. I actually went back and skimmed through the first book to remind myself where I was at in the Vlad/Leila story.

So here we are in Romania with Vlad Tepish, the legendary vampire with commitment issues and 25 year old electrified Leila who wants to be with Vlad, but needs the words he can't give her. Man vampire/human relationships are tough!

Ms. Frost stays true to Vlad and keeps the 600 year old dry sarcasm and torture coming. He has to be the bad ass he is so he can keep his people safe. Leila doesn't get that being open to her emotionally leaves his vulnerable to attack. Since she is human and can only deal in words, she can't feel the awesome vampire vibes rolling off Vlad and how he feels about her. What's a girl to do but hit the road? I'm sure she is thinking like any 25 year old, "he will come after me", "he won't let me leave"...Leila, he told you if you left that was it. Of course she is surprised when he lets her go.

But Vlad has 600 years of being who he is and can't believe a 25 year old human would have the audacity to actually leave. He put a toilet in his bathroom for her!! Dude, you should have also told her...she doesn't read minds!!!

Vlad's enemies are pretty sure if they get to Leila they can still bring Vlad down, so the chase is on.

We get appearances by Mencheres, Kat and a mention of Bones. Lots of action and impaling. A warm lovely romance of two souls, born 600 years apart that are both broken and damaged and absolutely right for each other. Get writing on book 3 Ms. Frost...I'm waiting!!!

First off, I'm fan of all things vampire. I found the first book Once Burned by accident I was looking for another book by a different author. But, I picked it up an bought it and read it in over a weekend. I couldn't stop reading. I loved the character Leila she wouldn't let anything defeat her. And then she was kidnapped and used, an still she tried kicking ass. We all go thru self doubt but how we bounce back is the real test of self. As for Vladamire, he is not easy to love but you can respect him. He made himself responsible for his people with all that he has endured, the tourture the humiliation and corruption and centuries later he is still open to love. Maximus and Shrapnel are first an second hand advisors an trusted friends, and they betrayed him in Twice Tempted. I like his method of retribution.Jaded is not a new word to any of us but resilience might be new to a few. I loved him. I ran and grabbed Twice Tempted and read it in a weekend because I loved the story and characters. I'm glad I run across this author look forward to reading more of her books.

Since this was the first J. Frost book I read, and I am now rereading, I had no idea what I was getting into. But after reading the entire set of books and enjoying the cast of characters from Vladimir to Bones to Cat, Mencheres, Spade, Ian, Dennis...ok, and the list goes on, I must say I have never been more hooked (even with my love of 50 Shades).

The books lead you through tales for which you are never sure you can keep up with or get enough of. At the end of the day, I must say I love Vladimir the most :).

I suggest reading in the order of all novels, novellas, and short stories as posted on [...]

Enjoy!

"This was one of my favorite reads of this year, and not just because I'm crushing hard on Vlad. It was action packed, emotionally charged, and corchingly hot. What more could I ask for?" ~Under the Covers

Dear Vlad,

Last year I wrote a sincere letter spilling my feelings. Now I have to confess that I wanted to punch you in the face when this book started and almost through the halfway mark. But I should also apologize because I should've never doubted how magnificent you are. The epitome of everything alpha male that I love and crave. You can be ruthless and you can be sweet. Scorching and yet oh so tender and romantic. But you are always YOU. Who would've thought I would fall more in love with you, yet here I am. Falling deeper in love with you. And having to share you with Leila. But it's ok, she's worthy of you and I can deal as long as I get Mr. Hot Hands to myself sometimes.

Your true lover,

Francesca

The Night Prince series has more of paranormal romance feel for me than Ms. Frost's Night Huntress. It is all about Vlad and Leila, how they work together, their romance grows, their powers expand and how they change for each other. Vlad took a turn for the worst in the beginning but I have to stay that throughout this series and even after falling in love, Ms. Frost has kept his character true to his self. He's a badass, he's dominating, he's powerful, and things supposed to go as he wants.

Leila wants more from him than he seems willing to give so she decides to leave. There is still a big bad after Vlad and now they are going after his next weakest link, which is Leila. There's suspense and action and an all too sexy vampire that steams up the pages with his personality, his anger and his sex appeal.

Through all this, I have to say Leila is a great heroine. She's smart and cautious, but she's strong enough to face things head on. She was again great in TWICE TEMPTED. She's able to stand up to big tough old vampires as well as her own family. She follows her heart and protects who she loves. I give her a great 5 stars for being such a memorable heroine and not letting herself be overshadowed by the greatness that is Vlad.

This was one of my favorite reads of this year, and not just because I'm crushing hard on Vlad. It was action packed, emotionally charged, and corchingly hot. What more could I ask for? Now I can't wait to see what's next!

Favorite Quotes:

I might've brought Vlad to his knees at last, but in so many ways, he would never bend. I knew that as surely as I knew I'd always love him, and it left me with only one answer.

"I dare because I want no misunderstand between us. I am everything you think I am, but I love your daughter, and what I love, I protect with all of the violence in me, which, as you've guessed, is considerable."

Today, I woke up in Vlad's bed as Mrs. Dracula.

I wouldn't expect anything else from Jeaniene Frost, she always delivers a highly engaging, emotional and exciting story with a perfect balance of romance and action. Just the way I like it. Twice Tempted was no different, it had tension, passion, humor, action and just about everything needed in a great paranormal read. It goes without saying that I loved the second installment in the Night Prince series.

Twice Tempted starts with Leila being kidnapped by someone and her not being able to use her powers because of the fire aura Vlad used on her in the last book. I thought that was an interesting way to start a book and then go back few weeks to explain the incidents leading upto that moment. Vlad and Leila had a lot of tension in the beginning; Leila missing her powers and Vlad being distant made her realize that she wasn't worth a lot to him now that her powers are gone, which I though was so stupid but Vlad does have a reputation, so I don't blame her. She wants him to love her and that's not something Vlad, The Impaler does. Leila being a stubborn, strong-headed woman takes an unexpected step that was so out of the world crazy and not to mention, dangerous, and it might have backfired her but surprisingly, it made things better for them as a couple. And I ended up respecting Leila a lot.

My absolute favorite part of this book was Vlad and his hilarious ancient war stories. They weren't funny but the way Vlad described it so smoothly and expressionless, making him sound like some ruthless person when in reality he was just being fair, was what made them one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Besides the humor, Twice Tempted gave us a new light to Vlad's character. He has grown so much emotionally and has formed such a strong bond with Leila yet he still remains the same Vlad we all loved in the Night Huntress series. Leila, on the other hand, is much stronger and determined than before, she stands upto Vlad and doesn't take orders. They both are made for each other, they butt heads and piss each other off, then end up having angry sex which is always fun to read. I love them! Next to Cat & Bones, they are my favorite PNR couple.

Overall, Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost is a Must Read if a are a paranormal junkie. It is powerful, thrilling, addictive and exceptionally great read (I'm pretty sure that covers up every adjective. :p). Oh and Maximus played an important role in this book and I'm not sure if I like him or hate him, but he's very intriguing and I want more of him. Plus, Twice Tempted has a sneak peek of the next Cat & Bones book. Who wouldn't want that? Buy Twice Tempted and devour it because it's just that good.

I have to say I thought Once Burned was a bit of a let down because I was so excited for it to come out and found Vlad, my favorite Night Huntress extra, was an arrogant, unromantic a$$ in the book. Other than that, I really don't remember much of the story which tells me alot since I can recall almost every scene with Cat and Bones. I picked up Twice Tempted with no expectations and was not only relieved, but thrilled to find myself immersed in a fast paced, action filled, very sexy story that has become the norm for Ms. Frost's work. What baffled me a bit, however, is how short the story was and how abruptly it ended with so many loose ends.

Leila has been living with Vlad for the past couple of months but feels and fears him pulling away from her. Vlad knows Leila is feeling vulnerable, but he can't give her the love she craves so he offers her the next best thing.... to make her a part of his vampire line. That offer doesn't go over very well and Leila, very publicly, leaves Vlad behind. She no sooner gets home to the carnival when an attempt is made on her life. From there, she doesn't know who wants her dead but the very edible Maximus has proven she can trust him to protect her so they work together to hunt down a murderer. When Vlad learns that someone wants Leila dead and even worse, Leila is on the run with Maximus, his protective and possessive instincts go into overdrive.

This installment solidifies Leila and Vlad's relationship, but quite frankly, I could have ridden on the Maximus train for a while. I really like his character and hope we get to see more of him in the future. Because I wasn't feeling their chemistry in the first book, it feels like this go around moved too quickly, but I was not disappointed with the yummy smut scenes. The villain in this book is a teeny bit character but ties to a series overarching threat. The story doesn't really end and is more like a "too be continued" so I felt like I was hanging which made it less satisfying, but overall it's a great addition to the world Ms. frost has so adeptly and entertainingly built. Fans won't be disappointed.

I wasn't so keen on the one off's with Spade and Mencheres, ok books and i enjoyed them but as one offs and not enough to hold a sereis but Vlad - well he's such a strong and detailed man that he needs his own adventures. This reminds me alot of the beginning of the night huntress series, where the duo team up fairly quickly. clearly this series being planned as a three book one things get speeded up - personally i think the pair have enough personality to make more than just three books, and could easily diverge into a different line once this one tied up. I love the chemistry between them and that Leila isn't a "yes" girl - faces up for what she believes in. when they do get together the scenes are Hot - but we need more of them please!! I love the adventure and action but want more of the romance too....
Vlad is one of my favourite characters, very complex and yet at times a great sense of humour. I've always loved the antagonism between him and Bones, though we see little of it here. I've loved Night Huntress but the last couple of stories have felt a bit stale - so via Vald and Leila I feel there's the chance to regroup the old gang into some fresh storylines but with V and L as main stars. If you're reading this Jeanine please give it some though - they're too good just to languish in a three book deal, they need more and have lots more to do i'm sure!
Loved the book overall, good length to really get into the stpries and multiple plots. I feel Maximus too has more to say/do - he's been with Vlad for so long. they've done and seen so much that there must be some complex emotions and ties between them. Marty - he's a fun guy and desrves more, and of course Leila's family, dad and little sis are strong people.
look forward to book three - just a shame they take so long to get to us though of course writing good stories isn't something that can be rushed.

I adore Jeaniene Frost's books. I was so excited for her next release! I liked Twice Tempted. I didn't think it was one of her best books but it was an entertaining read. Vlad is one of my favorite characters in the cat and bones night huntress series because of his personality, dark humor, and ruthlessness, but I don't feel the same way about him in the spinoff. I had some eye rolling in this book at Leila's expectations of her and Vlad's relationship and I was surprised that it played out in her favor. I have to remind myself that it is a romance novel for women after all.

I feel like a complete jerk saying this, but I just do not care about Vlad, Leila, or this series anymore. I didn't hate it. I didn't even find it to be poorly written or narrated. I just didn't care. I had to make myself listen to it while traveling. I was just bored.

I will attribute some of that to not being a huge fan of Vlad's in any capacity, be it this series or Night Huntress. I can also say that Leila annoyed me. I am not easily annoyed by heroines. I just found her to be so grating. She left Vlad because he wouldn't say he loved her, then when he came back into her life, she guilted him endlessly. Then, when he said "Okay, I love you. Now let's get married," she was like "No. Wait! This is too sudden." At that point, I said "Enough."

It really pains me that I don't care that much for this series, because I am a huge fan of Jeaniene Frost's. Huge. But yeah, I think I may be done with this series. Or not. I guess time will tell...

Did I mention that I love this book? :)
In 'Twice Tempted' Leila has been living with Vlad for several weeks now and there seems to be TROUBLE IN PARADISE! So, being sensible and wanting to save herself more heartache, she decides to leave Vlad and go back to the States. Vlad, being Vlad, doesn't believe for one moment that she will actually do it...... BOY! did he get a big surprise.
I must admit, it made my heart HURT reading all the events leading up to her departure. Luckily, they are not parted for too long but within that time she is at a loss on Who To Trust, because once again she has been targeted. Someone is out to kill her, so she is on a quest to find out who is responsible.
This story had my emotions on one hell of a roller-coaster ride. There is fear, anger, betrayal, but also growth of character and a Love so strong, it actually touched my heart just reading their story.
I love Vlad's arrogance ( even if I did want to knock him upside the head sometimes ) and Leila's humorous inner dialogue had me laughing out-load. These two are Perfect for each other!
In my opinion, Twice Tempted will have your emotions all over the place and will leave you wanting more, and of course, have you asking 'What will happen with Maximus?'
Oh yes indeed, I would highly recommend this book to ANYONE looking for a Fantastic, action-packed, turn-the-pages-as-fast-as-you-can!, paranormal True CRAZY Love romance.
WELL DONE Ms.Frost! I, for one, can not wait for the next book in this series.

So after my last book, I wasn't sure how quickly I should be jumping into another book because I was still reeling from the first but who doesn't love anything Jeaniene Frost does?

Being a fan of Jeaniene's version of Vlad, I eagerly gobbled the book up. I've loved her version of Vlad since way back in the Night Huntress series. He's always been ruthless with a heart of gold and this book is no exception. In fact, this book probably shows more of his ruthless side and dives more into the history then any book so far. One thing us romance lovers take for granted is that even though there's a typically HEA, doesn't mean that life will be all wine and roses forever. Authors are more and more showing how a couple is progressing in follow up books and lots of times, they are having issues of some sort. Same goes for this sophomore book in the Night Prince series. We start off with the book being mainly from Leila's POV and she's telling us about how difficult it has been to be in love with not only Vlad but also a Vampire. Right away the author is setting the scene for the conflict between the two. As the story progresses, we find out that someone is also after Leila as well as her family and thrown into the mix is a nice little love triangle which could have deadly repercussions for all involved.
All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice follow up to the first. Vlad is smokin' and Leila is electrifying, LOL. I'd add it to your TBR pile.

Twice Tempted: A Night Prince Novel (book 2)
Author: Jeaniene Frost
Narrated: Tavia Gilbert

File Size: 690 KB
Print Length: 389 pages, Audio: 8hrs 16mins
Publisher: Avon (March 26, 2013), Audio: Harper Audio

Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges . . .
Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover Vlad has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever--especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her. Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity . . .
Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust--the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other, or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity . . .

I have mixed feelings about this book; from the time that we were introduced to Vlad in the Night Huntress series, I was in love with the character, his arrogance, sarcasm, and wit have been an unbelievable attraction for me. Although we get some of that from him in this book, it doesn't capture his previous essence. I feel we spent too much time around the break-up an kidnapping of Leila before getting into the "meat" of the story. I was disappointed with some of my favorite side characters, Max and Shrapnel; I was thinking "WHAT THE HELL" as I read along. These are not the same vamps I met! Then the surprise three quarters of the way through is something I was expecting in the last book of the trilogy not in the second, if I had not noticed the location in the kindle I would've thought it was the end, but it wasn't. I hope this is some mad plan in bringing this series to a super-powered crescendo.

Now reasons I loved the book. Well, its Jeaniene Frost...HELLO! She has a special wit and I'm sure holds a degree in writing sarcasm. I have loved every character she's written. The villains in her series always catch me off guard; the same is true with the Night Prince series. The villains are true psychotic genesis' reminiscence of Moriarty. Her females are strong willed women not easily knocked down by life struggles or the men they fall in love with. Vlad for example, no matter how much we love him, he is not for easy consumption unless you like heartburn. Leila's inner struggles are not unlike Cat's, an like Cat; she is a strong modern female and easy to identify with. Her stories are not complex; they are easy adventurous reads I usually take a day or two at the most to consume. Frost brings forth minor characters like Max and Shrapnel to the fore front with their parts in the mystery of who is trying to kill Leila, but the actual mystery turns out to be something else. Vlad's past comes up to smack him in the face, yet again. The cliffhanger ending leads us into the third and last in the trilogy. What is Max going to do? What will happen to Shrapnel? Who will the Impaler, impale next? Will Vlad finally catch his Moriarty? Will Frost pull this trilogy together in a maddening crescendo with her conclusion to The Night Prince series?

I am a fan of Tavia Gilbert; she is the perfect voice for the Frost characters. She packs her performance with fantastic acting and distinguishable voices. Any story narrated by her is worth the purchase.
What's next for Frost Fans? The expected Night Huntress #7 will be release towards the end of the year; no title has been released yet. The Night Huntress series is expected to end with the eighth installment which is expected to be released next year (2014) and she is rethinking giving Ian his own story. You gotta love that!!!

Oh Vlad, how I've missed you. *sigh* I do have to agree with others who have commented on this spin-off series though. This isn't the Vlad that we first met in the Night Huntress books. I'm kinda okay with that though. Let me see if I can explain...

The Vlad that we met before was sharp tongued and witty. He was loyal to his friends and you could always depend on him to have a wry comment and even act on those comments from time to time. The thing about that Vlad though was that he was guarded. You never saw the `real' Vlad. The one he kept hidden. The one who had a heart that could be broken. That Vlad is the one we see in the Night Prince and I can't honestly tell you which one I like more.

Of course Leila is the reason why we finally see this side of Vlad. He spends a lot of time hiding it from her as well. The bad part is that she knows that side of him exists. She just can't get him to reveal it, even to himself. He says all the wrong things and gives her everything except for what she really wants and eventually pushes her away. Because of that there were some pretty scary moments in this book. This couple was on the brink of disaster more than once and a couple of times I wasn't really sure which direction Frost was taking them. Talk about your emotional roller coasters. Yikes!

I know that having these books told from Leila's POV has taken a couple of readers by surprise, but I kind of like Leila's voice. I think that keeping us out of Vlad's head adds to the mystery. Plus, Vlad's head would be a very scary place to be. *shivers* Finding out where Vlad was coming from and how he really saw himself revealed slowly and on his terms actually added a lot to the romance.

As for the rest of the story? Well, it was definitely full. There was a little bit of mystery, a lot of danger, some funny moments, plenty of action and a chapter that will give Cat & Bones a run for their money. *fans self* I can't even give you a clue about this one because it will give too much away. I knew it was coming and still wasn't prepared. Let's just say that everything that happens up until Chapter 36 is well worth the wait. Honestly!

Once Burned ended with things up in the air for Leila and Vlad. Twice Tempted doesn't end with that much frustration, but there is definitely more to come. That's a very good thing though. We've got more Night Huntress stories to look forward to, but I really love these spin-offs that have developed. Cat and Bones are still my favorite, but getting to know everyone else a little bit better has been fun too

Another fantastic book by Jeanine. She never disappoints me. I loved this.
This is the 2nd book of Vlad's series. I love Vlad. He is one of my favorite character from The Night Huntress series. In this book his relationship continues with Leila. Leila fells that Vlad cares nothing for her. She helps save his friends and yet he shows no affection for her. She feels that it is a losing battle with him and that he is never gonna say those words that she wants to hear. She decides that it is time to move on. Maximus takes her to her old friend to join back up with him in the circus. Leila then figures out that someone is trying to kill her. Maximus saves her and now they are going to try and figure out who is tying to kill her. Vlad is distraught when he hears that Leila has been killed. He goes to find out what has happened and realizes that she is not dead. She talks to him in his head and that is when they discover that her powers are back. Now back together Leila and Vlad need to figure out what is going on and why is someone trying to kill her.
This is a great book. Lots of betrayal and secrecy and you will be surprised and not want to put this book down. I definitely recommend to all Frost fans and of course I recommend to all Paranormal romance fans. LOVE LOVE LOVED this book.

I so love vlad.....I will not give anything away but you have to read. A man who has not had to love ever. Every one throws them self at him. So why even try. Well that is when she comes into play. I mean he has everything he can want or even think to want due to who he is. she does not care who he is only wants him for him, not what he can do or give...just him. What an idea....A woman loving a man. but he has baggage, Can he get over it or himself.......I so love a strong female lead. I can so see how I would feel it that happened to me at the meal in the first of it.That is WHY I love frost ...You can see yourself in the person and feel it to the end. LOVE VALD

This book could have been a 4 star book but the author chose to drag the plot into another book. The plot was interesting making the story easy to read and hard to put down. When I reached what I thought was the conclusion and I turned the page and discovered the book had ended I was p.o.'d. That means what could have been a satisfying conclusion is going to be turned into a book! Nope. This story line isn't that interesting!

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:

I love Cat and Bones, but Vlad and his leading lady... Mmmm, mmm, mmmm! Simply incredible!

Book #2 of the NIGHT PRINCE series picks up where Once Burned left off, but focuses on the tension filled relationship between Leila and Vlad. He has everything to offer her and is willing to give it all, except the one thing that she wants above all else, his love.

Leila is an incredible heroine. She's strong, confident, not willing to settle, and above all, she's not perfect... she has many faults, but they make her who she is and that's precisely why I love her.

Vlad is one of my favorite heroes. He's cocky, ruthless, powerful and sexy as all get out. His insistence that he can't ever give Leila the love that she wants makes for a very tension filled tale in this installment, but also creates an amazing opportunity for character growth of our hero. It was wonderful read.

I adored this book, easily give it 5 Skulls, definitely recommend it, and can't wait for the final book of the trilogy. The next Night Huntress book teaser at the end was very welcome as well. :)

Wow! To say this was good is an understatement. Leila and Vlad really come to butt heads.

We begin with Leila ticked off that Vlad makes her walk back to her room to use the bathroom in the morning. Vlad has been kind of distant and she's worried. When he throws a dinner party and gives her the ring marking his line (thus offering to make her a vampire) she's pissed having thought it was an engagement rings. She dissess him by leaving the party -like a smack in his face in front of all of his guests. They have a big fight where she tells him if he can't admit that he loves her and give her his heart she's leaving. He tells her words don't matter. She leaves.

Max takes her back to find Marty. While she's been with Vlad Marty has found a girl to take Leila's place on the circuit. The trailer that they stay in blows up killing the new girl and Leila thinks Marty is dead too. Max informs Leila that he is staying with her and will help her find the person who tried to kill her. He lies to Vlad. Admits his love to Leila. And they go in search of the bomber. Max is taken with liquid silver and Leila is kidnapped too.

Vlad comes to the rescue after promising Leila that he will save Max and not torture or kill him. She still has quite a bit to learn about vampires ;).

This just keeps getting better as we read. I'll leave you with the note that Max isn't the only betrayer of Vlad. Interesting and sad events to come.

PS You're Vlad the Impaler not Vlad the Emasculated is such a great line ;)

I am a big fan of Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. I especially appreciate the action-based plots that are liberally laced with humor. Twice Tempted is the second book Night Prince series, spun off from the Night Huntress Series. This series focuses on Vlad, the vampire of Dracula legend.

The Night Prince books skew much more heavily toward the paranormal romance genre, rather than the urban fantasy style that I prefer. Don't get me wrong, there is still a good bit of action and I enjoy the stories. I just wish they would focus more on the adventure rather than the lover's angst.

The book features a lot of high drama, Leila runs away from Vlad, who cannot admit to her, let alone himself, that he loves her. Vlad is determined to let her go, if it will make her happy, but then danger strikes and his alpha male kicks in to try to protect her. What follows is chaos, mystery, and danger - oh, and a crap ton of love fueled chemistry.

I will give Ms. Frost credit, she does a wonderful job of building romantic tension and serving it up piping hot. Paranormal romance fans will want to line up for seconds. For me, it is fun enough to tide me over until the next Night Huntress, but it did not earn a spot on the top shelf.

As for the cover, it is a pretty eye-catching, if cliché use of the muscle bound bare torso. I do have to say, the publisher chose a suitable tasty model to depict Vlad. The flames are a good visual representation of the story, in more ways than one.

"You should never have left me." I reached out, tracing the stubble on his jaw before moving higher to the smoothness of his cheekbone. "You shouldn't have made me." Leila and Vlad's relationship is tested to the limit in Twice Tempted. Leila is uncertain of Vlad's feelings and Vlad is not one to give in to his feelings due to his darker past. We see many sides to him in this book that make you love him but also want to shake some sense into him as well as Leila. Their pride, stubbornness and bravery make them a perfect match. Looking forward to more Vlad!

Leila's powers have gone missing since the end of the last book and the confidence in herself and in her relationship falters. Leila finally decides she is better off away from Vlad and while trying to get her solo life back, she almost dies. It is clear that the target is not Vlad but herself, and so the mystery begins.

I really enjoyed this book, much more than the first. I still think Vlad is missing a comic vein present in Cat's books and it makes me not love him as much. Come on, he raps "Run this Town" in This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 5), where is that Vlad?.. Nevertheless, the book is filled with action and at some point you're not 100% sure of who Leila should trust. The suspense works and I couldn't put the book down. Since this is a trilogy, I was expecting the cliffhanger at the end in order to finish the story in the last book. The cliffhanger is there, so if you don't like those wait for the next book until you read this one. I had a great time reading this story and I hope the last book is also filled with good action, a bit of romance and hopefully the witty Vlad finally makes a come back.

I enjoyed the first Night Prince novel immensely. As I've said before, Vlad is easily my favorite character of the franchise, so I'm super happy that he gets three books. He's a very frustrating character at times with arrogance that knows no bounds, but Frost knows how to make the payoff worth it. I found the glimpse into his ruthless nature and past to be a highlight of the story, though I feel as if we're still only scratching the surface. Leila was pretty cool in this book. I like that she's a capable heroine, though clearly her humanity hinders her abilities and that's a major focus of the novel. I wish the villains were fleshed out a little more, but it looks like book 3 will round that all out. I'm looking forward to it. There's an excerpt of the next Cat & Bones book as well. I do hope we see more of Vlad and Leila in that installment. I don't believe we saw him at all in the prior Cat and Bones novel and he was sorely missed.

I think it goes without saying that this is a definite recommend for fans of the series.

I don't think you can say I read this book, more like I devoured it. Its the second book of the series and I am not sure which one I liked better. Vlad has always been one of my favorite characters and I loved how Leila finally got her man. This book picked up where the other one left off, so if you have not read the first book I would recommend it. It has plenty of action, emotional ups and downs and you might need a fan for some of the steamy scene's. I can't wait to see what Jeaniene Frost will come up with next. I enjoy her books very much.

Jeaniene Frost's book are one of those things I buy without really thinking about it much, I first fell in love with Cat and Bones and the rest of the vampires caught my attention, most especially Vlad. C'mon he's the Prince of Darkness, they based Dracula on him I always want to read someone else's take on him, particularly when their books are generally kind of funny. Oh there's always a hot romance but Jeaniene Frost's take on the world ending is usually done with a healthy dose of humor.

I have a weakness in romance for those uber alpha type bad boys, I guess you can call them the anti-hero or whatever but Vlad personifies this type, kinda like Bones only a little meaner. I love those types and I love it when the heroine doesn't try and change them...sadly that's not the case here. I don't know what happened to the characters from the first book, but damn they got kinda annoying here.

Leila at times got kinda whiny and annoying, her reasons for leaving Vlad were silly and immature and kinda made me want to slap her. Vlad giving into her whining kinda made me want to slap him at times too. Eventually they both got it together and...got together. While I did like Twice Tempted it wasn't as good as Once Burned, will still be grabbing the third one when it comes out.

Jeaniene Frost, you are awesome!

Vlad and Leila's story continues as Leila tries to get Vlad to admit to his feelings for her. I knew he eventually would, but lordie did he have to make it difficult. That and toss in a new enemy (or is it?) and many near death experiences, and Vlad couldnt help but get to that point. I was a bit saddened at what happened to Maximus out of all this, and it was sort of left hanging so I can only wonder if he'll come up again.

I love the humor in Leila's thoughts. It's my favorite part about Jeaniene's characters. They make me lau and I totally relate!

"it's a dungeon, Leila. They're supposed to smell." mission accomplished. The stench might have actually killed my new appetite. If hell could fart, it would smell like this.'

'I could blame my seething jealousy on vampirism? Done!"

Excellent read! and I can't wait to see more of Vlad, and Cat and Bones (this story contains a sneak preview of the next Cat and Bones story)

I had to re-read the first Vlad book to remember the story and this one flowed perfectly from that one. I loved the characters still and the action and turmoil resonated with me. Mrs. Frost has a very smooth way of telling the story and incorporates he other characters without weighing it down with too much detail. Although I thought Leia was far too much on the naive side, I still liked her strength and really loved her Vlad together. I look forward to the next book in their adventure. They are the perfect spinoff couple.

This is the second book in the Night Prince series featuring Vlad and Leila. This book picks up pretty much right after where the first book, Once Burned, left off. This is a planned trilogy with the third book as yet being untitled. I liked this book the same amount as the first one. I loved reading about Vlad but found that the plot wasn't all that solid.

I listened to this on audiobook, the audiobook is very well done. The narrator, Tavia Gilbert, is the same narrator that has done all the Night Huntress audiobooks as well. She does an excellent job conveying character emotion and distinguishing between character voices. I highly recommend listening to any of the Night Price or Night Huntress books on audiobook.

Leila's psychic abilities are failing her and Vlad is more distant than ever. When Vlad declares that he can never love her, she decides to cut her losses and leave him. Unfortunately for her as soon as she leaves him someone tries to kill her. The news of this sends Vlad into a furious rage. Leila is determined to find her killer and ensure her family's safety while Vlad is determined to find Leila.

I was a bit frustrated with Leila's character she is sooo dense, immature, and whiny when it comes to Vlad. She continually says she accepts him for who he is, but then she leaves him because she can't accept who he is. Vlad is kind of his typical self; controlling and conniving but minus the humor that I loved so much in his characters in previous books. I felt like throughout this whole book Leila and Vlad had the same relationship problems over and over...they didn't grow a ton as a couple.

I also still have some trouble with Leila's "I got struck by lightening and am now full of electricity and psychic" backstory. It just seems very contrived and unbelievable to me.

There also isn't a huge plot here, basically Leila almost gets killed when she leaves Vlad and her and Vlad have to figure out who is behind the attempt. This is a very romancey paranormal romance. Most of the book focuses on Leila and Vlad and their tumultuous path to a stable-ish relationship. There are some fun and surprising twists to the story that should keep the reader engaged.

The love scenes between Leila and Vlad are decently done. Leila is a lot more fiery than in the last book and makes a good challenge for Vlad. The way she stands up to him when no one else will makes her a good match for him. I did enjoy hearing about Vald's past.

The story is engaging enough, there are a couple of cameos of Cat. So it was good to see her again, albeit very briefly. The book ends on a pretty big cliffhanger with not much resolved, so I always find that kind of annoying.

Overall an okay read. The plot for these books is more sparse than that in the Night Huntress novels. Most of the book focuses on Leila and Vlad's tumultuous relationship. There is a small plot focused on trying to find out who tries to kill Leila early on in the story, but it definitely isn't some huge and involved complicated plot. I would recommend this book to fans of the NIght Huntress series to to those who love very romancey paranormal romances.

I enjoyed the plot of this one. It grabbed my attention from the first page and I couldn't put it down. The heroine grows more in this book. She becomes stronger emotionally and her confidence grows. By the end of the book I felt she was strongly coming into her own and this makes her an even more likable character. Vlad aso grows in different ways and we were given a closer look into his way of thinking. The way they both grew and adjusted to thier situation, facing up to certain problems, made thier relationship feel stronger and more connected for me. They are truly great together. It is somewhat darker than the first book but in a way that it does not become overwhelming. Along with the action and a few comical parts this book swept me into the story. I love when a book is good enough that you forget that your just reading because your so lost in the story. Another amazing book from Jeaniene Frost. Can't wait to read the next one!

The book really was just okay. I will have to agree with a lot of others on the whole Leila was annoying. The wedding scene was ehhh, I skipped through most of it because Leila was just..ugh..I was really tired of her because it started to get repetitive. First, the whole " I can't believe he is so evil" crap and the whole "i love you" thing. Then at the end, she talks about "loving his dark side" and ...well, if you've read it, you will know what i mean...The dying thing really was just, I don't get it. It felt rushed. This whole story felt rushed and it all happened so fast, to say the least. I feel like with Cat and Bones, everything was developed and the relationship evolved in every book.

When I actually finished the book, I felt disappointed; however, I got excited because there was a sneak preview of UP from the grave! Was it just me?

I've been anxiously awaiting more of Vlad and Leila's tale ever since the final pages of the last book, Once Burned, and I was not disappointed.

While I do think that newcomers to the series should go back and read that tale before picking up this book, as they might be left scratching their heads at some of the behavior from both characters otherwise, Ms. Frost did a lovely job of recapping things without falling victim to the dreaded Info-Dump that many authors succumb to when writing sequels.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. With plenty of action, some surprising twists, and quite a bit of development both in Leila and Vlad's relationship and in the series' overall story arc, it was everything I've come to love about Jeaniene Frost.

A very solid 4/5 Stars

This was a good second installation to the Night Prince series. Leila and Vlad have a huge fight over his inability to love Leila, prompting her to leave him. As she is separated from Vlad someone tries to kill her, complicating matters for her and Vlad, as well as adding a new villain in the mix.
It was a nice fast paced read that will keep you entertained, a must read, as well as all the others in this series and the one it spin off from.

Four stars for a book that is only 4/5 finished. Buyers should know ahead of time that they aren`t getting a complete story. In fact, I was stunned when I "turned" the page expecting to start a new chapter and found myself reading an excerpt of an upcoming book. I actually went back and forth to see if my e-reader had goofed up.

Because I knew that Twice Tempted was coming out, I reread the whole Night Huntress series right through to Once Burned. It was great to revisit Cat, Bones, and all the other characters leading up to Twice Tempted. I would recommend doing that or at the very least reading over Once Burned just before starting this book, even though you are in a hurry to get to the latest story!

Vlad continues to be the ultimate smoldering male lead. In numerous ways, despite the violent world he inhabits, he is a lot more likable than Leila. Our heroine is often grumpy and surprisingly irritated by a lover who shows her in many different ways how much he cares. Given the life she has led prior to meeting Vlad, her repeated complaints about how far away the toilet is seem ridiculous. Even when she gets what she wants in a number of instances, Leila still manages to complain.

Maximus is interesting, but not very well-rounded somehow. There`s something missing in terms of his motivation. Maybe that will be explained in Thrice Smoked, or Re-Re-Heated -- or whatever Vlad`s book 3 will be called.

I think that what is most odd, is that the book doesn`t even end with a cliff-hanger. Is it worth a read if you love Jeaniene Frost? Absolutely. Just don`t look for a happy ending or any ending at all.

This book was even better than the first! Vlad really comes to life in this one and we get to see his true feelings. Leila doesn't take his crap and I love that about her. I cannot wait to read the next one!

Loved the 'struggle' Vlad had with his 'true' feeling for Leila as well as her bringing him 'to his knees'. Really felt his anguish when he thought Leila had died. As I had previously said in my review of Once Burned, I do not read vampire novels on a regular basis but I was very glad that I did read these two. Jeanine Frost is a terrific writer and 'gifts' her fans with what they want to read.

I loved this book. The entire series really. I don't know how but this author always manages to pull me into the worlds she creates. I loved both main characters in this story. Their dynamic was intense and I loved seeing the softer side of Vlad.

There are some great moments in this book, spontaneous humor that is signature Jeaniene Frost and made me both giggle and laugh out loud. Twice Tempted gets the Night Prince series back on track with the old Night Huntress feel, and all the characters easily stand on their own. The sex is scorchingly hot (pun totally intended!) and the plot moves at just the right pace, with an intensity we haven't yet seen from Leila and Vlad. Twice Tempted is a must-read!

*** This review is spoiler free. Read on with confidence! ***

Vladislav Basarab is not an easy man to love nor does he love easily, a situation starkly evident in Twice Tempted.

Ms. Frost takes no pity on her characters, particularly the heroines in first person point of view. That intensity, the feeling that the character just never gets a break, is what made the Night Huntress series so addicting. Well, that and the fact that Cat kicked some serious ass. The Night Huntress World books fell a little short for me, missing the mark with third person point of view and less plot insanity, and I wasn't wowed by Leila in Once Burned. I'm not sure if it was the circus aspect or the fact that her abilities were more defensive than offensive throughout most of it, but in Twice Tempted, she really rises to the occasion. She's stronger emotionally and psychically, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. Like with Cat, sometimes that comes across as impetuous and bull-headed, but that's also part off the charm - watching Leila grow as a character and seeing her complicated relationship with Vlad work through all its varied and sometimes completely unexpected landmines.

Vlad himself is back in true form, merciless and cold save for the exceptions he makes for Leila. I've loved his character since he first showed up on Bones' doorstep, annoying the smack talk out of him and charming his woman. It might have been tempting to write Vlad as uncharacteristically outwardly emotional or soften his mojo (har har), but Ms. Frost stays well within character and reaches down deep to give us glimpses of the man we've been hoping is entrenched behind all those shields. At first I was a little disappointed that we're being exposed to more circus storyline, but getting to learn juicy little tidbits about Maximus's background made it worth the sigh. There are also some rather unexpected turns of events throughout the plot that really keep you glued to the pages.

Vlad is lethal danger, ruthlessness, and determination all burned into a single focus - Leila - and when he turns that energy toward sex, it's unrelenting and explosive. One of the great things about Jeaniene Frost love scenes is that they can be scorchingly sensual without needing to be explicit or technical. It's not the where and when that sets the mood, but rather the how and why and what the characters feel. The love scenes in Twice Tempted are masterfully crafted, fierce and soul-deep with wild, animalistic, heated abandon. I'm pretty sure I have a (re)new(ed) crush on the Prince of Darkness.

I've been thinking I should submit a receipt to Jeaniene Frost's Publisher requesting compensation for my cleaning lady. I mean, it is 100% her fault my house is a mess right now. I never get around to cleaning when one of her books is released. I have to get my greedy hands on the book the second--and I am being literal here, the EXACT second it's released--and I don't stop reading until it's done. She is, by far, my absolute favorite author. I've loved every book she's written. Every...single...one. Twice Tempted is a new favorite for me--right up there with One Foot in the Grave and Destined for an Early Grave. And Vlad is now ranking right up there with Bones.

I am so happy she decided to give Vlad and Leila a few books and their own series, because it's giving me a chance to know them the way I know Cat and Bones. I love learning about Vlad. If I thought Bones' past was rough, Vlad makes his upbringing look like Leave it to Beaver. The poor man has had to deal with so much. He keeps himself remote because he's lost everyone he loves. Yet despite his best efforts to keep Leila at arm's length, he falls for her, and she is so good for him.

It's funny that Leila ends up with Vlad, because I've always thought the reason Vlad and Bones hate each other is they are so much alike, and Cat and Leila are alike too. They are both tough, independent women who are willing to face any adversity to protect those they love. They are both unique and can hold their own against vampires who should be able to beat them down, and neither of them gives up when things get tough. They are fighters. I've always thought Cat and Bones work as a couple because they are a great team, and I think Leila and Vlad are the same. A fantastic pairing.

My only complaint about Jeaniene Frost is that I wish she could write faster. I go through a cycle when a new release comes out. I get so excited I can't even read anything else for days before. Then I read and read until I'm done, only to be disappointed when it's over. It's the same every time. LOL For any Paranormal fans out there who haven't read one of her books, do yourself a favor and get one.

Favorite Quote:

"Flowers are on the way, as is my best man, three seamstresses are ready to make any dress you desire, and I'll have the corpses taken down," he replied without missing a beat.

Only Dracula would have to worry about taking the corpses down before company comes over. LOL

The sequel continues the tale of Leila, a scarred woman with gifts that set her apart from other humans. Vlad and Maximus are still vying for her attention but Vlad refuses to give his whole heart which starts a chain of events that brings death and danger to many characters. I won't spoil this for you, but expect death, action, and emotional interludes that will make you extremely happy or highly agitated as you clutch your book breathlessly. For the romance fans, you will get some hot scenes that will make your toes curl. Enjoy this paranormal action romance, but I recommend strarting with the first novel, Once Burned.

So I absolutely love the Night Huntress Series and now I love this series. I love Jeaniene and I always loved Vlad. He is my favorite character from the cat and bones books too. When I read Once Burned, I didn't realize there was going to be a 2nd book but I was excited. I just finished this book and I was confused because of the way it ended. Then I realized there must be a 3rd book, and there is! Im so excited and happy that Leila and Vlad got 3 books. In Once Burned, Leila was feeling that Vlad was becoming distant and it continued into this book. I don't want to give spoilers but I think this book was a great sequel. If you love the series, you need to read this!

This one was just as great as the first Night Prince novel. The reason I gave this one five stars (I gave the first Night Prince novel 4 stars) was, not just because it was a great read, but because their weren't the overabundance of editing errors like there was with the first one. That made this one a much more pleasant experience!

TWICE TEMPTED continues the thrilling roller coaster ride that is Jeaniene Frost's Night Prince series. I was miffed that we were left with a cliffhanger in ONCE BURNED so I was eagerly anticipating more dark and dangerous adventures with the very sexy Vlad and Leila. TWICE TEMPTED does not disappoint and is even darker, bloodier and more intense. The plot is thick with danger lurking around every corner and the shocking plot twists had my head spinning.

Aside from the thrilling search for Leila's would be killer, I loved getting more peeks at Vlad's horribly bloody past. These glimpses are graphic and brutal but they helped in understanding where this sexy torturer is coming from. There were also frequent and slightly graphic scenes in Vlad's torture chamber that had me feeling really really sorry for the unfortunate prisoners being held there regardless of their guilt.

While Vlad is indeed one scary and powerful vampire, he and Leila fit so well together on an emotional level. I adore how Leila tests Vlad and is one of the few people that can stand up to him and his dominate vampire lord personality without cowering in fear. It is really fun seeing Leila's modern sensibilities clash so much with Vlad's more traditional views on relationships.

TWICE TEMPTED has a fiery romance between two strong personalities and heaps on the brutality of just what it means to love Vlad the Impaler. Like ONCE BURNED, TWICE TEMPTED teases us with some rather interesting loose ends to tie up in the next untitled Night Prince series book.

The second book of the Night Prince series, Twice Tempted does not disappoint! Vampires and intrigue (although I figured out the antagonist immediately in this one), and lots of hot and steamy scenes between Leila and Vlad. Total and complete guilty pleasure, and the sneak peek of the new Cat and Bones book was an added bonus!

Enjoyed it just as much as the first novel in the series. This escape from reality couldn't have come at a better time for me and I swallowed it up when I was able to squeeze a few minutes together for myself. Still loving the characters and the adventures and the pacing. Looking forward to the next one!

Vlad, my sexy hunk of vampire man, you had me long before you engulfed yourself in flames. I loved you when you only had the power to impale people. You story has captivated me for as long as I can remember. This new updated you, the one with flaming skills, in the bedroom as well as outside has driven my Vlad obsession to a new high. Your hard cold heart, still for so long, has only known loneliness and betrayal. Finally, it is warmed with this woman. She is wonderful Vlad, a bit naive yes, but she does not weaken at your sins. The horrors she will have to endure, to live with you in your world may undo her. I wept for her when she walked out that door. I wept for you too, knowing what you were giving up. I know you Vlad you are an old romantic at heart, somewhere down really deep. If things don't work out between the two of you, you know where to find me. bring the ring. [wink]yes, I loved the book. i could not stop reading, my kids suffered, my dogs went walkless and I got readers elbow from holding the book so tightly. I love this Vlad character, he is just enough of everything. It was pure fun entertainment that hit all my reader fun bells. The moment I finished I wanted to re-read it, which put's it on my 5 star list.

Second in the Night Prince urban fantasy series revolving around Leila in love with Vlad.

My Take
Oh, brother. Borrow this from the library. It's not worth buying. It's got a lame romance-suspense plot with limp twists and moronic reactions. I'm hoping that Frost was simply overwhelmed with deadlines of some sort. I had been looking forward to this installment ever since reading the first in this spin-off series...and I'm so bloody disappointed. I kept checking the cover to be sure I really was reading a Jeaniene Frost...

It has all the right pieces, but it just doesn't grab hold of me. There's no subtlety. The kidnapping is lame. Then there's Leila's reaction to what she supposedly wants. Gag. It's like reading a really bad romance novel.

Okay, the Bits & Pieces of It...
I completely understand Leila's reasonable reaction to Vlad's proposal. And what was Vlad thinking to make this kind of proposal? Supposedly he can "read" minds, so how did he miss what Leila is thinking and screw up this badly? The Maximus manipulation was halfhearted. Oh, whoopie, Leila's handicap has disappeared. How conveniently easy.

Maximus' history is interesting to learn.

Why does Leila believe the dreams aren't real? I mean, duhh.

Her father is very unhappy with her attraction to Vlad, and with Vlad's actions with her. Yeah, well, what kind of father would he be if he weren't? Then there's Gretchen. Is she behaving more like a bad, trailer trash kind of sister in this or is it just my imagination?

Why does everyone keep saying that Vlad is a "borderline psychotic" and a "crazy cruel bastard" when psychosis is defined as "a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality". I've never noticed Vlad being crazy; sure, he's been cruel and, in his cruelty, he can be a bastard. And, this attitude from Frost is just another nail in Twice Tempted's coffin.

Dearie?? Really?

The Story
Leila is still handicapped and starting to worry over Vlad's lack of attention. Questioning if her power is the only attraction she has for him.

Only, there's someone else out there who hates any attraction Vlad has to anyone for any reason. Betrayal is on the menu.

The Characters
Leila Dalton was changed by an accident in her youth. One that led her to Vlad's protection in Once Burned (Night Prince, #1). Unfortunately for Leila, she's fallen in love. Gretchen is Leila's greedy sister. The retired Lieutenant-Colonel Hugh Dalton is her angry father. Marty is the dwarf vampire with whom Leila had a circus act. Had being the operative word.

Vladislav "Vlad" Dracul, Prince of Darkness, vampire, is living with Leila. For now. Maximus, formerly known as Rossal de Payen, is Vlad's second-in-command with a secret passion. Shrapnel is Vlad's third-in-command. Isha is the chef angry with Leila, and Sandra and Joe are some of Vlad's live-in donors. Dr. Natalia Romanov is the in-house physician.

Mencheres and Kira and Bones and Cat help out. I'm just not telling who they're helping. Edgar is a good, fair negotiator.

Cynthiana is a witch and was Vlad's lover before Leila. Adrian is the bombmaker. Mihaly Szilagyi has been Vlad's bitter enemy for centuries.

The Cover
The cover is the best part with the hot---in every sense of the word---shirtless Vlad standing in profile amidst the flames.

I suspect the title applies to Vlad and his worries over the reaction his first wife had. And now, with Leila, he's Twice Tempted.

This is a spin off from the Night Huntress Series. It is also the second of The Dark Prince Trilogy. The first book is Once Burned. You could read this one without the first, without being too lost, but I would suggest reading Once Burned first. The first book in The Night Huntress series is Halfway to the Grave.
I will be honest, I probably would have not read the next installment but that it is a cliff hanger type ending. At the end of Once Burned, I had hope Leila would grow up. But I was sadly disappointed. I had hoped she’d change for the better. No such luck. Leila still gets on my nerves.
I have like the other women from the Night Huntress Series and The Night Huntress World spin offs. Cat, Denise, and Kyra, are well balanced, feeling like real people. Leila seems to be unbalanced to me. At times, she feels real, like a character should. relatable even if I haven’t been in that situation. At times it seems that she is another person entirely. It’s like Jekyll and Hyde. Leila is the only heroine in a series that has gotten on my nerves, I want to slap her at times. Is it too much to hope that now she has transitioned to a vampire that maybe she’ll crush her rose colored glasses, and stay in reality? I hope so. The next installment will tell.

Overall, an alright story, though at times it felt a bit too close to Once Burned with a few changes to it. An above average story, she’s written better. Not a bad read.

Fire and electricity, heat and sizzle, Twice Tempted has it in spades. Once Burned was a great read, but this book goes a little deeper with Vlad and Leila. They have highs and lows, frustrations, surprises, and chemistry through the entire book. I was wonderfully lost in Twice Tempted. Jeaniene Frost has once again written unforgettable characters into an unforgettable story.

I really enjoyed book 1 in the Night Prince series, but I love Twice Tempted. Vlad and Leila have to get real with each other, and of course, enemies are around every corner. Both Vlad and Leila are stubborn and determined to have their way. Neither is willing to settle, so they have some issues to work out (understatement). I love Leila, she doesn't settle. She wants more from Vlad, but Vlad doesn't open up to anyone. Vlad thinks like a vampire and doesn't always remember that humans do not understand vampire ways. Leila decides to go back to her circus-style life, but that doesn't work out how she thought. Leila is once again a target, but this time, her enemy stays hidden.

Vlad is one deadly, bad-ass, pyrokinetic vampire, but Leila is not too bad herself. Leila's electric abilities and talents grow in Twice Tempted, she manages to take care of herself and kick butt too. She is not used to violence, so it's understandable that she struggles with accepting the violent paranormal world she finds herself in. I have loved Vlad since he first appeared in the Night Huntress series, but I also love Leila as a character as well. As she adjusts better to the paranormal world, she adapts, learns, and grows. Vlad and Leila's relationship isn't easy, they come from completely different worlds and backgrounds. They have a lot to work through, but the pay off is worth it.

Bottom line, for paranormal romance fans, The Night Prince series is a "must-read." The world is the same as the night huntress, but it gets a fresh wind with Leila and Vlad. Jeaniene Frost has a special talent for writing magnetic, memorable characters and Vlad is one of them. Twice Tempted has made it to my favorites shelf. I can not wait for book three, to see what comes next for Vlad and Leila.

I loved the first book, Once Burned, and this second book in the series did not disappoint. The story blasts off where the last one ended. Loved the continued development of the main characters' relationship. Also, the story progresses very smoothly for most of the book. To me, the end of the book was a bit rushed or felt unfinished. That's why the detraction of half of a star. But otherwise, this is definitely a very enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the last book in this trilogy.

I read this in one sitting. I could not put it down. This is what a vampire romance should be.
Vlad told Leila that he could give her everything but love and that's the only thing she wants from him so she is heading home to Marty and the carnival troupe. Except someone wants her dead and now Leila needs to figure out who to trust and how to stay alive.
I can't begin to say how very much I enjoyed this book. Taking on Dracula is a challenge and Ms. Frost does him justice.

It was everything I wanted in a novel - warm fuzzies , hot romance. This probably isn't your first book by her so you know the author is consistently good. The relationship got wrapped up quite nicely however I didn't like the cliffhanger ending with the series villain.

Jeaniene Frost writes great books, and this is another page turner! Vlad is such an intriguing character, and Leila clearly asserts herself in this second book in their story--she's one tough chick! There's plenty of excitement, hot romance and dangerous scenarios to keep you glued to the page-- I can't wait until the next book! (By the way, if you haven't read Frost's Night Huntress series, you are missing some great reads!!! The reader is introduced to Vlad in those books, and you can't help but root for him after how he is portrayed there.)

I hadn't read any J. Frost for a while; I just happened to see this and picked it up to read yesterday. I had forgotten what her books do to me. I started into it with moderate enjoyment, but then I got hooked and could not put it down. I stayed up way too late last night! Two great primary characters, both powerful in their own ways; a few little plot twists to keep up the tempo; and some memorable minor characters combine to make a truly enjoyable story.

Beware for spoilers!

I have read every full lenght book by Jeaniene Frost and I consider myself also a huge fan of hers. I fell in love with her books because of Cat and Bones. They're one of my favorite book couples ever. I also loved every spin-off book Frost has written, like the Night Huntress World book. I was also blown away by Once Burned, the first book in Night Prince...
However, and this really pains me to say, Twice Tempted felt rather disappointing to me. I can't believe the day has come where I rate a Frost book only 3 stars. The world must be ending...

Twice Tempted starts pretty much where Once Burned ended (not that I remember a lot from it anymore). Leila's powers are diminished and she feels like Vlad is pulling away from her. Eventually after Vlad keeps refusing to say he does love her she ends up back at a carnival. Of course that's where the problems start again...

I liked the book, I really did but overall I couldn't help but not totally loving it like I would expect from a Frost book. I am not pleased at all. There were just too many things bothering me. First of all, Leila. I do like her. Or I did in the previous book. I don't know what happened to that girl. Okay, I'll give her kudos for leaving Vlad because he keeps saying he can't love her but eventually she ends up back where she started and then suddenly Vlad can say he does loves her. What the hell? And this doesn't mean I don't love Vlad. I love him to death. He's always been one of my favorite characters from the Night Huntress series. I don't have anything negative to say about him in this one except why does he rush things like it. One moment he refuses to tell Leila he loves her (which we all know he does) and the next he's saying they're getting married. I mean, no... just no. On to my next issue, which was Maximus. I don't know why Frost created his character only to make him a Tate (from Night Huntress) clone. There's almost no difference between the two. Tate wanted Cat but couldn't have her. Maximus wants Leila but can't have her. CLONE!
As for the other characters, none of them really captured my attention. I did like Leila's father. He only wants what's best for her and I love him for that. And Marty too. I'm so glad he didn't die like I thought!
Also what happened to the famous Frost sex scenes? People are still talking about her Chapter 32 from the second Night Huntress book. Compared to that, the two in Twice Tempted were let's say without any fire. I didn't like it at all. So very disappointed for those alone.
Some very important scenes seemed so rushed for me. Vlad saying he loved Leila, announcing they would get married right away pretty much, her changing into a vampire. I would've rather seen that they got married or in this book and her changing into a vampire in the next or the other way around but not all at once. That's just too much.
And the whole plot just seemed really weak to me. We finally find out who is really behind it all and then it's her? Again I say, very disappointing.

But of course not all was bad. There was Vlad and face it, we all love him + he's burning hot!
As always with a Frost book, I pretty much raced through the book. I do love Frost's writing a lot. It's very face-paced and she has a good way with words. Another thing I like was when Leila felt the past from certain objects. We got quite a lot history from Vlad. I loved that. Oh and Cat was there. Always a plus but I wished we would've actually seen Bones too instead of just knowing he was there. But oh well this is Vlad and Leila's story so that was only a minor disappointment. Though it brings me to my next thought... This series is called Night Prince meaning Vlad, then why not make it really Vlad's book by writing in in his point of view or at least have dual point of views along with Leila's. But, oh well, I'm happy Vlad is there anyway even when I didn't like this one as much as I would've liked. But I have to keep in mind that sequels rarely live up to the first books. It's only too bad it had to be like this with this one.

All in all Twice Tempted was a slightly disappointing sequel to Once Burned. I had expected a lot more from this book and I guess it backfired on me. I did love Vlad, and I always will. He's Dracula and that'll always be an awesome character to read about. Frost's writing and ability to capture her readers hasn't disappeared at all even when I didn't like it as much as I thought I would so it's not an awful book or anything. It's still a very likeable read and I'd recommend it to Frost and vampire fans everywhere.

I was really looking forward to the follow up book and I wasn't disappointed! This book continues on with vlad and Leila's love story.
The book starts with Leila not being satisfied being in a loveless relationship with Vlad. She decides to leave him and go back to Marty and the carnival in Florida. Then the action starts when someone attempted to murder her. The book continues on with romance, suspense and action.
I really enjoy Frost's writing style. This book kept me captivated from start to finish and I was sad when it ended. I can't wait for the next book!

To many things were just wrong in this book. this isnt Tom and Jerry cartoon, why for instance, instead of describing gruesome scenes of murders author compares remains to lasagna and hotel to swiss cheese? and really, you see a ring box and plan to say yes regardless words of love, and then dump a crazy and dangerous person as soon as he refuses to utter "i love you"? when that same person proposes out of the blue cant shut up about his love and cant wait to get married...in 1day with 2000 guests? sounds like movie montage. its not romantic, its like... plastic surgery on Rene. fake
oh and the creepy-creepy bride groom. talk about marrying in to the family... this guy is an ultimate vampire godfather with negative humanity. have anyone of you seen Vlad the Impaler portrait? nothing to write 2 books about, and he was not called the impaler for his bedroom skills btw. "Drill, baby, drill!" how passé. and just Eww. i could not believe J. Frost could write such childish text. there are so many oh-so-good books out there and this one is just not one of them, Cat and Bones were well above this level.
so to me it was unbelievably shallow and silly book. why so many authors stuck on vampire theme keep stomping on Bram Stoker after stealing his sex obsessed vampire theme is beyond me. ok, you "borrow" from classic, that's popular now days, but why diss it??? if you could not come up with anything new (yes there are authors who can think out of the box- Ilona Andrews, Susan Ee or Justin Cronin to name a few), at least respect who you are "borrowing" from if it pays you back with money and popularity!

This book was so worth the wait. It continues the story of Vlad and Leila. Fast paced and exciting, we finally see the Prince of Darkness meet his one true love. So long in coming. We are treated to a cameo by Cat of the Cat and Bones books. Ends with a cliff hanger to keep our appetites whetted for the third and final book. I, for one, can't wait. Hot steamy sex scenes make this one smokin' book. Just might melt your kindle.

Twice Tempted picks up several weeks after the events of "Once Burned" and it is not happily ever after in the Dracula household. Vlad has given Leila more of himself than he has given any other woman in centuries, but it is not enough. She wants the love that he warned he could never give her. When a rather large gesture of Vlad's goes wrong, Leila decides to make a huge change to their relationship. To her this step is heartbreaking, but necessary for her own well-being. Her choice leads her into grave danger and into the path of a formidable enemy.

I liked this book, a lot. It is entertaining, it's filled with Jeaniene Frost's hilarious one liners and is a love story of epic proportions. So much goes on in this book. By the end, Vlad and Leila's lives have been irrevocably changed. I enjoyed it, but there was constantly something dark lurking in the background of my mind. Part of it is the nonstop worry that someone is trying to kill Leila, again. Part of it is that so many relationships deteriorate and part of it is that the feel of this relationship is different than I am used too.

What is really weird about this book is how adamantly against Vlad everyone in Leila's life seems to be. I believe love is important, but it sat really ill with me that EVERYONE is against him. Everyone's nonstop proclamation of doom made me feel like I was in the head of a woman about to enter into an abusive relationship, but is too blinded by love to see it. I don't think Vlad will hurt Leila, but the books supporting characters gave the book that weird vibe. These books always have that one person who is like `supernatural is bad' or the jealous guy who can't see past his own interest to realize the girl is happy in her relationship. In "Twice Tempted," even people who are loyal to Vlad seem to think being with him is a bad idea. It is an interesting choice by the author to give them a "no body wants to see us together" vibe.

There is a lot of angst in this book. Vlad and Leila are fighting or avoiding each other for a good chunk. Despite the fact that Vlad told us all in book 1 that he would not love her, I found myself really upset with him for not offering her more. I was completely on team Leila in this book, which proves how great a writer Jeaniene Frost is. Unfortunately, it made me dislike Vlad for a lot of this book. It's really interesting when a book can pull you so deep into the drama that you are inwardly lecturing characters on their bad behavior.

"Twice Tempted" is action packed. It is filled with explosions, supernatural confrontations and flying master vampires. When Vlad and Leila court enemies it is never a small thing. Especially, when the hero and heroine have powers such as fire and electricity. Whenever these two face a villain it ends up in blood, gore and torture.

This book is absolutely a must read for fans of the night prince and night huntress series. This series has a master villain, a hero who needs to enter the current century and a heroine who is trying to cope with her new life. These books can literally go anywhere. If you would have told me at the end of "Once Burned" that certain characters would betray them and certain events would happen, I would have said "NO!" I am even more interested in where this series is going and where the story is currently heading.

Recommended to fans of Jeaniene Frost, readers of Paranormal Romance and anyone who likes vampire stories about figures like Dracula.

Twice Tempted is a fantastic ride with enough twists and turns to keep even the most demanding reader satisfied. Though this is the second book in a spin-off series, it can easily be read as a standalone. A must read for anyone tired of vampires that just cannot manage to live up to expectations. Vlad is an alpha who is impossible to resist!

Although the Night Huntress series is still my favorite, (What woman can resist Bones?), JF's other books and characters from the original storyline are growing on me, especially when Kat and Bones visit! This book is no exception and I'm beginning to love the h for smart-a** commentary and Vlad has always been another favorite of mine. I hope that we see more of Lelia and Vlad in future books.

I'll admit, I was waiting at midnight for this one to show up on my kindle. I finished it a few hours later. It was good. I got some needed clarity on Leila and Vlad's relationship and feeling for each other. But the story was a bit hard to follow but interesting.

Biggest dislike: the ending felt unfinished. In most Frost novels, you get a compete story in each novel, and then a glimpse of the next book. This one felt le part of a full story-- unfinished and rushed.

Overall: I'll definitely read the next one- probably again at midnight.

Disappointed. I was very excited about this book after having read
Once Burned. Along with The Night Huntress series (so far). This book
seemed to really dwell on past history between Leila and Vlad. Most of
the book seemed to be just filler. Not what I had expected from Jeaniene Frost.
I plan to read the next book in this series, but hope it much better, without so
much filler. (by filler I mean nothing happening just constant history about
a character over and over).

While downloading this book today, I got so excited I wanted to go ahead and give this book 5 STARS just for the sheer excitement provoked. Instead Ms. Frost only gets 4 STARS since the story ended way too soon. This is not a bad continuation of Once Burned. The first half of the book was well paced. Without giving too much away, the story slowed down after a car bombing. And the main antagonist in this book was just a bit player for the archnemesis. This may make a good lead into the next, but it would have been nice to be treated to the second epic showdown instead of having to wait ages for the next Night Prince novel. This truely feels more like a preview than the main event.

I really love this spinoff series. Vlad is great and I love how the real history is woven in. Leila, however, makes me want to slam my head into a brick wall during the first half. So indecisive! It's maddening. But eventually they work it all out (no spoilers here) and the action and plot finally start rolling. Can't wait for the next one.

Frost never disappoints. This book was everything I anticipated and more! I've read all her books and am in love with Vlad and Leila's story. I'm eager for the next installment. Great romance, great action!

Since the first book in the Night Huntress series, I have been captivated by the intensity of Frost's characters. Unlike many series, her books just get better. Even though they are written in first person narrative (which I usually detest), the reader is able to actually 'feel' the other characters. It is no small feat and due wholly to exceptional writing skills. Again, we have a winner and I can't wait until her next book!

I feel like I was waiting for this book forever and I woke up at 3am to make sure I downloaded it from audible:) I liked Leila a lot this time around and I'm happy she didn't just accept what he was willing to offer at first. Now I'm impatiently waiting for the next one.

Not a must read before you die but still liked this. The things that happen are from your typical vampire romance plots. Still interesting to read but I wouldn’t say too original.

I really enjoyed this story. It is a continuation of Once Burned but a story by its self also. I enjoyed this one as much as the first one. I do recommend this book. I also suggest you read Once Burned first if you haven't. This book will stand alone but Once Burned will show you the story of how they met. It is a good read also.

Oh how I was so happy that I caught this book on sale but after reading it I would have gladly brought it for full price. The sequel turned out great, when I started reading it was very hard to put the book down. I have fallen in love with this series and can't wait till the 3rd book!

If you liked the first book, you'll love this one. Where the first one left off, this picks up with a vengeance ( pun intended). Great plot, although some character's motivations are unclear - maybe that's in the next book. Can't wait to read it.

After reading the first book, I honestly can't remember the name, I wanted more instantly. The characters are too perfect for a paranormal romance geek, like me! Do NOT start at this book! Look up the first and then you'll be downloading this one before you know it. Love it!

Wow! Vlad & Leila are a new Cat & Bones! I still want my 2 faves(C&B), but I can now add 2 more to a growing list of wonderful characters, including Mencheres & Kira! I've been addicted to Jeaniene Frost since the beginning, so now I can't wait for my next NH fix!

I really liked this book, not as much as Once Burned, but it was still really great. I love how Frost satisfies the reader with her romantic pairings. I detest love triangles and I have a feeling that Frost does too.

As always, with Jeaniene Frost books I'm left wanting more.
I couldn't put it down, until I lost the battle with sleep - but finished it first thing this morning!

The storyline is typical for JF, full of action, excitement and anticipation. There's never a dull moment or filler in her books!
It's interesting from beginning to end - though this one was a bit predictable. I didn't always know what was going to happen, bit I did figure out the who's pretty early on.
Other than not being surprised, I was thrilled with this book and can't wait to read more!

Excellent second book in the Night Price series. Vlad is, of course, deliciously badass. Leila is a bit TSTL sometimes but she also is badass when push comes to shove. The ship scene was awesome.

As usual Ms Frost has given us a fantastic book and I can't wait for "Up From The Grave".

When I finished reading this book I had a huge smile on my face. It made me so happy to read it.
The first couple of chapters I wanted to kill Vlad - so hard headed - but everything turn out fine and with very funny parts to boot :)
I'm glad Leila stood up for herself with Vlad.

If you like Once Burned you're going to love this!! One of my favorite things about a Frost book is that she never let's up on the plot twists or character development. The romance is the icing on a very satisfying cake.

The second book in this series lives up to its promise. The plot was interesting and paced just right to keep at least this reader up all night reading until the end. The characters and their relationships developed in a natural way that made the book an enjoyable read. There was just the right amount of action, inner dialogue, and interaction between characters. I laughed! I cried! I can't wait for the next book! Fantastic!

I didn't like the second book as much as the first one, just for the fact Leila is sooooo ANNOYING. Where do I begin how she went from a character I liked, to character that should just be impale. She is really immature. I feel like their relationship is really rush. They been dating for only 2 months, she leaves Vlad because he wouldn't say "I love you" to her, she tries to change him to a man she wants him to be. And she hates a lot of things that he does, and does not understand he is from different time and modern pansy-ass way of doing things isn't what he does. She acted like a child and marries him. Seeing how she acts you really wonder if Vlad would REALLY be with someone like that. Knowing my Romanian history, the real Vlad Tepes WOULD not put up what she gave Vlad in this book. Vlad could do with someone so much better than Leila. I think the author should go back and make different series starring Vlad with a better woman. I just didn't like the book so much. It was funny in some parts. and the love scenes could have been better. It was the character Leila that really annoyed me and made the story not so fun. I was listening to the audio and I sat there rolling my eyes when this girl acted so stupid. I don't know if I want to read further into this series, which is sad, because I like real Vlad Tepes and I like it when people use him in their books.

A highly enjoyable, break-neck action packed read. Vlad gets more intriguing after every book and Leila is heroine worthy of the Prince of Darkness. My favourite line has to be 'don't let me hear you introduce yourself as Mrs Dracula'. Great fun.

If you love Vlad, which I do, then you'll like this book. Second books in series are never my favorite though. Leila, is definitely not my favorite in this one. But Vlad makes up for it with all of his yummy, bossy, fiery hotness!

This book was well written with lots of twists and turns. It ends with plenty of loose ends left to be resolved, including an especially important one. It is not nice at all to leave people hanging like that. How long until the next book?
