I have loved this series and, although not the best book of the five, it still kept me entertained. The formula is reminiscent of L.E. Modesitt Jr.'s Corean Chronicles series except it is set in space. Kings magical champion chases ever and ever stronger bad guys until he ends up conjuring a magical storm that eliminates the current threat and leaves him unconscious but alive. This series has a few more subplots than Modesitt's but it is in danger of falling into the same familiar pattern.

Stars for good story. Most questions answered with setup for next series. Breeding supermen and magic welders awesome. Sex and violence, my kind of book. Political intrigue, yes. Only thing not care for issue the exclusion of life science and advanced medicine. You would think that you can regrow limbs and bone in the eon of these stories. Give me some medicine not just bombs and guns..

What makes this book in the series better than the rest is the consequences that the main character suffered and the prospects of the continuation of a good story. In many books, the main characters have power without impunity or backlash. I believed it was the case in this series, but I am glad I was wrong. I will eagerly read the next entry in the series.
Stellar Fox (Castle Federation) (Volume 2) :: The Forgotten Engineer (Athena Lee Chronicles Book 1) :: Terra and Imperium (Duchy of Terra) (Volume 3) :: Yesterday's Spacemage (The Spacemage Chronicle Book 1) :: Wizard Defiant (Intergalactic Wizard Scout Chronicles Book 1)

Non-spoiler review ahead:
I received a copy of this ebook ahead of publication for an honest review.
Glynn Stewart is one of those authors whose work I look forward to. He has engaging characters, a unique universe in which to play and a style of writing which makes me want to read them. I truly enjoy his Starship's Mage books and heartily recommend them to anyone who wants a good romp through an interesting read.

Damien Montgomery, Mage, Rune Wright, fourth most powerful magic weirder in the Protectorate is the seeming focal point and at the center of every conspiracy, hot spot and conflict occurring. Held to account for his actions by the Council forge Protectorate, Damien uncovers plots within plots. Saving the Council station from destruction finally finds Damien the recognition for his efforts.

I purchased this book after reading the author's advanced reading team version. This is a terrific tale merging the best of military space opera, magic and fantasy...I'm not one to dissect an author's work nor will I spill the beans to new readers. Suffice to say this series and all of the author's other works are truly well worth reading...you'll have a blast!! Support this author

Especially Glynn Stewart's Mars! I have to say that not only are these books believable, but exciting to the very last word! I wait, with baited breath for new releases of each and every one of his series and don't feel that they come nearly fast enough! He is one of the most prolific writers that I read and I thoroughly enjoy all of his venues. Definitely "must read" books.

Well, Our powerful Magee almost did himself in. The series ended with a major cliffhanger, that must be continued on another series. Not sure if the author can salvage this mage, to the powers that he will need. This series could stand on its own, except curiosity drives you to want to know more of how the worlds will clash, and what does the third party want.

I like the world and characters, but the story was a little flat and predictable. The characters also don't have enough depth. There's no interpersonal interaction, humor, love, grief etc. the magic and has Tech was also left mostly out of this one. It's just a crime procedural and not a great one. I'll still read the next one though, but ill be hoping for more.

First, I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Now, in this fifth book of the series, Glynn Stewart weaves yet another spellbinding tale that literally puts the reader into the thick of the story, riding a rollercoaster of intrigue, subterfuge, and action that will leave the reader breathless and wanting more.

Judgment of Mars is a thrilling, hold-your-breath read and a fitting conclusion to this part of Damien Montgomery's life. A couple of new characters were very enjoyable. Damien faces challenges and changes as he fights to stay true to his oaths. I look forward to the next book and seeing how Damien deals with the cost of his sacrifice.

Great read. I really like the way the author portrayed Damien the main Mage character. He showed that even a person as strong and self sacrificing as Damien was, he can exceed what his body can withstand. I was really glad that the author ending the novel on a good side and not a bad side.

Like the rest of the Mage series, this latest book continues with the entertaining story of Damien. Although "a keeper" in the sense of a good read, I was less enthused with this then with the other four books in the series - thus 4 stars v. 5 stars. There is no doubt that I will be looking forward to book 6!

Hand Montgomery deals with political attacks, more violence, and even greater drains on his power. He also finds new allies and new avenues of investigation. I enj9finding out more about Mars and the Council. Very good read and a definite progression in the overarching story.

Yay for a decent blend of magic and starships. Good back story, engaging characters, good battles. A tiny bit one dimensional in a few areas and a few editing errors. I still enjoyed it and will be plowing through the rest of the books from this author.

Although the plot was perdictable, it is an enjoyable read. Tha cast of characters held steady, with the caveat that you need to read the series. The end is a cliffhanger so once you are hooked, you wait for the next installment.

I was glad to read this latest adventure. Our Hand does great things but keeps getting hurt. He is what we all wish the love of country and duty could be for us all. I kept on the edge of my seat and it is fast pace. I really want to know what the Keepers of secrets had in the vaults and what they kept hidden. Keeping it real was the hurt the Hand had and sometines could not be fix by magic or healers.

I absolutely love this series, I find it unfortunate that in a recent interview Glynn stated that Damien's story was done. My son and I had already thought out several places for it to continue on and I must say we were disappointed in the ending.

This is quickly becoming an all time favorite series for me. Very few remain interesting 5 books in, but I couldn't put it down despite the terrible realization that finishing means months of waiting for the next in the series.

I enjoy the Damien Montgomery character, although he was a bit too "King and country" at times. I liked the development of other characters as the stories progressed, and I found the universe to be consistent and compelling. All in all a good multi book space opera series which should appeal to many different ages.
