I really enjoyed Unexpected Hero by Willow Summers. I didn't read a plot summary before I started the book, so I went into it not knowing what to expect. What a pleasant surprise, this book was laugh-out-loud funny! The main plotline for this book follows a group of architects who are sent to Colorado for a retreat and are totally unprepared for 'roughing it'. The group had such a variety of characters, which made for some very funny scenes. I don't want to give too much away, but the scene when the group is prepping potatoes for breakfast was so hilarious, I thought I was going to lose my bladder! I liked the heroine, Jenna, who was strong in an unusual way, which took some getting used to but really added to the story. I also liked the hero, Chuck (Josh). My favorite was Jenna's co-worker and best friend, Erika. She was scrappy and hilarious! There was some romance, including a few hot scenes, one in particular gave me goose bumps. Over all I would give this 4.5 stars, as it ends on a cliffhanger, which I really don't like. I don't mind books in a series, but I feel each one should be able to be read as a standalone.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Willow Summers is one of my favorite authors and she did not disappoint with this latest series. From the moment the story starts I fell in love with the main characters, Jenna and Josh. Jenna, a beautiful successful Architect whose past has made her the strong and protective woman she is today and Josh, a solemn dangerous former Navy Seal who is escaping his past and discovers possible happiness with Jenna. I love how these characters are strong and fierce and those traits stay intact as their relationship grows and they are thrown into the next chapter of their journey. I found myself laughing out loud several times during the book with the snappy comebacks that can only happen between close friends and the misadventures while on a wilderness guide with true Citified people. Both characters have such tough and tragic backstories that you are rooting for these two to find happiness among the trails and I loved how both characters remained strong throughout the story line. I have to also note that the supporting characters of this book are fabulously entertaining and are a huge part of the humor in this book. I enjoyed these characters so much that I am hoping that they have significant story lines of their own in the upcoming books. The humor, the adventure, and the growing love were all so well written that you want to continue on into the next book to see what their lives will entail. Congrats and Thank You Ms. Summers on another fabulous book!!

Prepare yourself for a book hangover. This book is really good. It is one of those books that you wish it would last a bit longer. And I kid you not, this could be a really great movie. This book make me laugh, cry, and get angry to. I liked how W.S. started the story, it is really light read, and the pages just flew. I started reading it in the evening, and then the next time I looked at the cloock it was 3 in the morning.
W.S is a master at lovemaking scenes, and they were really good ones
The main characters are very interesting. Jenna is sassy architect wich is sent away from the danger at her work. She is sent for a week long tour in the wilds of Colorado. There she meets her match. Ex Seal Josh is haunted by his past, but so is she.
The story sucked me in, and I loved every page of it. I just hope the next book in this trilogy will come real soon.

The story is decently written and appropriately paced. The sex is sufficiently steamy. So what is it? It's Jenna. She's meant to be bold and brassy, but she's just a psycho uber bitch. I never feel bad for her or pity her (even after I know the reasons for her behavior), but I also just don't understand her. She annoys me with her senselessness and contrary attitude. If you're going to resist, do so because you have a good reason, not because you want to pretend you're the baddest bitch in the room. P.S. You're NOT.

These characters are real people with all the faults and edges of people who have lived hard lives and survived. I love that Jenna was in another relationship yet wasn't gonna just jump ship and the way Lewis screwed himself over. LOL. When Erika and Jenna meet new people they actually make them prove themselves to them and they don't take any s***, especially when it comes to the safety of their BFF. Totally love the relationship between Erika and Jenna, they take care of each other even in the littler things like Erika's safety and Jenna's control issues and eating disorder. Felt bad for Mike yet totally identified with Jenna having to be strong for everyone else. Being able to feel safe with your SO is very important and you feel that way almost from the beginning, not to mention the sex scenes are extremely STEAMY! Wow!! Will be telling a couple of friends/sister that they should check out this book!

I absolutely loved this book. My only complaint is that it ended with a cliffhanger and the second book isn't out yet for me to continue!!! I cannot wait to keep reading this series!
Jenna, the book's heroine, has a jaded and horrific past. She cares about few things in the world - her job as a head architect and her best friend Erika. The relationship between Jenna and Erika is real and doesn't seem forced. They are the type that you want to be friends with, but only if you stay on their good side!
Then we have the hero of the book - Chuck/Josh. Ex military with his own horrors from the past.
The chemistry between Josh and Jenna is great!
I cannot wait to keep reading to find out what happens between these two stubborn, emotionally shut down people!

Willow Summers seems to be a good author who gives her characters real life problems and takes the time to explain! Jenna Anderson is the head of 5 other members of an architectural team trying to build a new skyscraper in NYC! The place they work is being protested to try and stop the new building from being built! There boss Don Jefferies sends his team away to try and get things worked out so they can get the building built! They end up on a wilderness camping trip! But that leads to a great story that you need to read to enjoy!

Jenna just wants to see her building up, but there are those who don’t want to see that come to pass. To keep her safe, Jenna’s boss sends her and her co-workers on a trip to the woods in Colorado. This is not what they had in mind for team-building.
Josh wants to forget. Being a Navy SEAL wasn’t easy for him and he just wants a nice, normal, quiet life. Being a tour guide in the Colorado woods has been what keeps him sane until a girl named Jenna comes along with her co-workers and turns his tour upside down.
I LOVED this book. It was so funny and compelling. I could not put the book down and I didn’t want to. I can’t wait until I get the chance to read the next book.
Yes, I would recommend this book. I loved it!!

Jenna and her team of architects are getting the details together to build a building that is ahead of its time. When things start to heat up with protesters, Don decides to send them away till things calm down.

Josh who is battling his demons is a woods guide and tasked with leading Jenna and her team through the woods.

What they get is more than they bargained for.

I love Willows work, I first read the Jessica Brodie books and I was hooked. Willow is my fav author and this book certainly did not let me down. Willow has the ability to draw you in so you feel you are part of the story.

From reading the blurb, I thought this would be a non-stop action dramatic type story. It's got plenty of action, but this had me laughing more often than not and I loved it! From this point on I will always giggle whenever I have to cut up potatoes. This is only the second series I've read by Willow Summers, so I was a bit hesitant about the switch in theme, but she pulled it off nicely. There were a couple of times where it got to be a bit confusing about who was speaking to whom, but I guess that does tend to happen when stories are told in third person. This one does end in a cliffhanger and I can't wait to get the next book to find out what's going to happen.

I really enjoyed this book. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down. It's a mix of humor, romance (some spicy scenes), drama, suspense and intrigue. Is it a bit far fetched? Sure. But one of the reasons I enjoy reading is for an escape from my every-day life and drama. Unexpected Hero provided an enjoyable escape. My only complaint is that it leaves you hanging. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the story continues and is brought to an end. Worth reading.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

Jenna is an architect working with a team designing a building that it is causing controversy in the area, with picketing and the mob involved. Joshua aka Chuck is an ex-Navy Seal working as a Wilderness Guide, he left the Navy and has demons. Jenna’s boss decides to send the team on a wilderness week to get them out of danger. Jenna and her boyfriend split up on the wilderness week. There is chemistry between Jenna and Joshua. With Joshua saving Jenna from a Rattle snake, Karen the Wilderness Leader who has her eyes set on Joshua, the drama with Dale this is a great read.

Great story. Was fast paced and kept you on your toes. The dynamic between the characters was humorous and believable. I personally loved the fact that it was about a former Navy Seal who possibly has a form of PTSD because I can relate to the character. While my husband and I are Army and not Navy, still a person coming back from deployments and mentally replaying them in their mind is a habit of any combat survivor. Still when shots ring out, the character of Josh is able to slip back into his protective role to keep Jenna and her friends safe. Can't wait to read the next book and to find out what happens.

All up I was disappointed with this novel. I particularly loved Willow's (KF Breene) Please and Jessica Brodie series and this one didn't really live up to my expectations although I will continue on to book 2.

It really is a bit of a 'bodyguard' novel. The 'vacation' dragged on for much too long and became somewhat tiresome, and I have to say I'm also getting a bit sick of the circling around the issue romance factor.

Anyway, I'm hoping the tale will lift it's game and I'm soldiering on, although I have to say I would have been reluctant to pay for book 2 if it wasn't on KU.

The thing I most love about Willow Summers' books is that they always take place in such interesting situations. This book takes place on a team building exercise in the woods. It might seem a bit random but it totally works!
This book is such a perfect balance of well written characters, romance, thought provoking themes, hanky panky and some real laugh out loud moments. I always find Summer's books very absorbing - I have never been able to quite put my finger on exactly what it is but the format draws you in and keeps the pace just right to make you keep on turning that page!!

Unexpected Hero is riveting right from the start! It was difficult to put down and caused some very late nights! This story is a perfect blend of sex, action, and laughs! Lots of emotion, lots of banter, and superb character development. These characters, Josh and Jenna, suck you in and make you care! They have some demons to overcome but their chemistry is off the charts intense; I mean wow can you feel it? Again, Willow Summers has developed side characters that are more than just place holders. Their exchanges with the main characters create many wonderful moments of laugh out loud hilarity. Unexpected Hero is perfectly paced and a splendid read; I'd recommend everyone read this book.

What a great book! Terrific characters, as always. I laughed right along with Jenna & Erika because they are so similar to my best friend and I. That amazing relationship was portrayed so realistically. The story flowed so quickly, that I read the book in a day, and was angry when I got to the end only to realize I would need to wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens next. I wanted the enjoyment to continue!!

The story had me hooked right from the beginning. A hint of mystery so you really don't know quite what's going on and the electric chemistry between Josh and Jenna to add some spice. Josh is that perfect brooding silent type that makes a woman want to grab on and break down his walls. And Jenna is one of those broken perfect women that you love to hate and hate to love. It's set up to lead into what I expect will be an explosive second book, that I can't wait to read.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I put this book and the rest of the series on my wish list for Christmas, since I will definitely want to finish it. This one ends in a cliffhanger and leaves you wanting more. Willow does a great job building characters and building upon them and their flaws and strengths. You are rooting for the hero and heroine, not just to figure it out so they can solve the problem, but also so they can be together.

Well she has done it again... Willow Summers. Every time I pick up one of your books that's it the world around me could go up in flames.
I thought it was a little slow during the character build up, but then BAM.... Everything just starts happening at once, And JOSH.... please can I have one? Please tell me book two is right around the corner... Please .... I love a story with a strong male lead but one with both a strong male and female lead is just so much more fun to get into, you never quite know what's going to happen, or how they will react to each other. Well done Ms. Summers' Well Done !!!!!.

Can't wait for book two ;)

I like the plot of the story. Little annoyed with all of the back and forth between the two main characters. First she's scared of him then she's hot for him then she's afraid of him again. Feels like I'm watching a ping pong tournament. Hopefully they will get it together by the end.

The humor is fantastic in this story! Love Erika and Mike! I would recommend this book.

This story has everything that appeals to me. Action and suspense and throw in some
romance and it kept me up all night reading it.
Jenna is written how I like my female leads, strong. Josh is the perfect match for her
and he is even an ex seal. What's not to love.
This series has me hooked and I can't wait for the next book.
A definite read !

As usual Willow Summer's does not disappoint. At first with the epilogue I was sceptical about continuing, as I don't read anything with a mafia component, but I kept going. I'm glad I did. What a great read. Well edited. With great meaty characters. And whilst it does end with a cliffhanger of sorts, one could just assume they all live happily ever after. But I personally can't wait for the next book. Highly recommended.

Everything about this was good. The characters, who were all very unique, whether good or annoying, were interesting. The storyline was written well and kept my interest. I can't wait to move on to the next one because the ending leaves you hanging.

What an outstanding book! This book is so much more than a romance. There is drama, action, and a little romance in there. I love how Willow Summers not only has a strong hero but an equally strong woman in her book. Amazing! Can't wait to read the next one.

Action. Love. Dangerously hot male lead. And a strong willed stubborn lead female. So much good in the first installement of the Skyline Series!! Summers did a fantastic job with Jenna's character. Not often enough is a lead female the bad-ass of story right along with the guy. Can't wait to delve into the next two books!!

The temperament of the New Yorker crew is all work and no bugs. The leader Jenna is a hard nosed alpha who can argue and manipulate the best. The guide is a reformed seal and staying out in nature helps his PSTD and keeps him from having to deal with real life.

Two lead characters with way too much in their pasts. A building designer fighting against everything to get the project of her dreams made. A group of New Yorkers dropped into a hiking trip with a guide who's not what he seems.

There's a lot happening in this book, the start of a trilogy. Relationships everywhere, a current of sex just under the surface of the entire narrative. Hints of danger and brewing violence from the prologue on, snakes and larger predators in the wild and predatory humans everywhere.

The story is well crafted and well written but more complex than the average romance novel. There's instant attraction (of course), misunderstandings, exhibitionist sex, and more. The character backgrounds includes - well, almost everything - from modeling to military action and multiple points between.

Loaded with smart-mouthed ladies and a alpha bada$$ guide who protects them from a killer. It is 1 of 3 which I make a point of not reading until the whole set gets published. I just don't have the patience to wait months-years on the next book in order to finish a thought. There is no HEA per say although H/h do have a meeting of the minds (so to speak). And we do learn what is happening. It's just not resolved. It's ok. Books 2 & 3 are waiting for your reading pleasure. This author truly knows how to write good female characters and strong hunky alpha males. I so enjoyed this read. Book 2 begins in minutes.

Kick-Ass Romance book! Willow Summers writes a strong woman, who knows herself and is willing to fight for what she wants. Josh is such a hunk. I like how strong and vulnerable he is at the same time. It's seriously one of my favorite romance books. I can't wait to see what happens in book 2.
