Abbey and Merri start off their summer together a little bit rough but things quickly take a turn. I enjoyed every minute of this book and could not quit reading till I reached the end. I love how you learn about God having a plan for all of us and how He works in small ways in each of our lives! The only downside to this book is I don't have the second book yet to see how the rest of the summer goes for Abbey and Merri!

What an interesting way to present history! I have always enjoyed American history but Deborah Heal has taken it to new heights. I would suggest any history teacher who has trouble getting his/her students interested in history might try using this approach to teaching!

I purchase this book on my Kindle. I enjoy listening to books as I take my morning walk. I really enjoy book said bring out history and throw in a little mystery. But most of all books that proclaim the love of Jesus. And spells out Salvation clean and clear. 5 stars for sure.

I really enjoyed this book. It told about a girl going to be a tutor for the summer for a young girl. The mother has recently divorced and is trying to get her business up and running. The daughter got a very expensive computer that shows the house they live in. It goes back in time. Very good reading

What a great way of explaining time traveling. It was an enjoyable read. So pleasant a mystery without all the killing and Gore. It was nice to learn a little history along the way and about the hardships of the slaves.

I loved the characters as they seemed so real. It is a story inside a story. Both of the stories pull you in and you find yourself reading for longer then you thought you would. Loved the book and would definitely read more of her books.

I love historical mysteries and this one did not disappoint me. Even though there is no fast action this story was so intriguing I enjoyed every minute and with bits of history interwoven you wonder if there is more truth than fiction. A great read!

This is well written. I enjoyed the way she chose to time travel. The characters are realistic and interesting. The added component of Abby's faith and how she shared it with Meredith was uplifting but not overdone. Can't wait to read the rest!

This story was flippin' weird. I have read lots and lots of books and this one takes the top spot for strange. It takes the characters into the past from the present. A computer program is involved. Um.. yeah. The dialog is even weird and doesn't really make sense. Add boring into the mix and it's a no for me.

Although written for a younger age,( I am a senior citizen ), I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would like to read the complete series. This book was well written and quite interesting. I actually found myself becoming frustrated with the mom in the story....I became quite engaged .I give this book 5 stars. Ann Hughes

Loved reading this book. I just now finished it. I love time -travel stories and the way it is written, its almost a Christian Time-travel story. @Deborah Heal, thank you for a truly enjoyable book. Each time I had to stop reading, I couldn't wait to begin again. I just wish they were able to find a setting tool that allowed them to interact with Charlotte.

This story is wonderful! It's a modern, updated and fully plausible Techno-Gothic story that I truly enjoyed reading. The narrative tone and style is superior to most modern novels. It's a very good novel, everyone should read it!

This was one of the most original and enjoyable novels I have read in a long time. I usually read suspense, but didn't miss the "action" because the characters kept me interested in their historical discoveries. Heal is a gifted writer. I am delighted to add her to my favorite authors list, and have already downloaded the second in this series.

The trilogy is an absolutely fantastic read! They are refreshing and beyond entertaining. It is so nice to find an author that hits all the great entertainment qualities without the distasteful situations you find so frequently anymore. I am buying the set for all my family's households. I can not say enough good about these books. Hands down the best read!!!

Love this tale of possibilities, could I order this program on the store? Get caught up in history lessons and time travel with a fearless tutor and a discouraged student! One of those hard-to-put down continuing saga! I can't wait to see the next installment!

The child was rude and inconsiderate. Abby wondered if this job was a big mistake. Then as Abby got to see Merrideth she learned to see life from the child's view. A d then they learned about the program on the computer.

Deborah Heal amazed me. This book sucked me in so fast that I had it all read in a day and am downloading the rest from the series. Somehow she brought the civil war era alive even while I was engaged in the struggles of a modern-day college student trying to help a young pre-teen girl. But, best of all, this faith-based fiction novel made me remember the intense love and care God takes with each of our lives.

I have always loved history and genealogy. This book adds a touch of mystery and a little time travel to the history (which we all wish we could do) and wraps up everything in a lovely package of characters. I think most people would enjoy this series.

Christian historical fiction involving virtual time travel. Deals with sensitive issues like divorce, teen obesity, feelings of worthlessness, and bullying. The time travel allows them to see God's hand at work in seemingly senseless daily occurrences and tragedies.

When looking for some good summer reading, this popped up as a free Kindle book on the store, so I downloaded it. I just read it start to finish in a few hours! I feel like I just traveled into the story, much like the characters did. Excellent writing, great story! I can't wait to read book two!

This book was well written for the most part, dialogue was good and main characters were well-drawn. I didn't care for the religious preaching and caught a couple of editing errors. The most glaring was that Amtrak trains go into Chicago bound for Union Station, not Grand Central. Wrong city. A little sloppy.

Interesting format for a Christian fiction novel. A little bit of science fiction involved with spiritual and emotional healing. Deborah Heal has well developed characters and scenes. Good read that kept my interest throughout the book.

This book keeps you wondering what the characters will find next while also learning interesting facts about our nation's history. A very unique and interesting read. I read the entire series and started on the next series as well...wasn't ready for the story to end...

Looking forward to sharing this book with my daughter in a few years. What a delightful way to learn and experience history. It remind me how memorable education is when we delight in its method. I'll never forget the dipper on the porch.

It was an interesting take on time travel, but some parts of the story just dragged too much. I thought parts of it were a little too preachy though, and I didn't like how the main character treated her student. It was only ok. I don't think I'll read the next one.

I enjoyed some of the historical aspects, but it did not get involved too deep. In order to suspend disbelief to the basic plot, I would have to be younger. The development of Merri and Abby's relationship seemed to jump forward without the proper timing or motivation.

Great book for the young and old reader Biblical application to life. Stressed kindness, learning, history and loving our parents in spite of their shortcomings. Story focuses on a computer program that shows video about an ancestor during the civil war.

This is such a fun, interesting, informative and quite amazing book. I had no idea how I happened to have this very special book on my Kindle because I read and review lots of books for Net Galley and others, but I had just read a truly horrible, depressing book about witchcraft in the mid 1600's England that was truly hard to finish, let alone having to review. Thus, I was looking for a truly different kind of book. This wonderful idea for a story quite literally grabbed me from the very first page and was just a true pleasure to read. I honestly couldn't wait to see where the author went next in this perfectly done book. I am so pleased that it is actually Book 1 of a now completed trilogy because I can't wait to hear more about each set of characters in the past and in the present since this is a story that goes back and forth in time from the present day Illinois to the same community in 1858. It is so much fun to try to figure just where this story will go next. It reminds me of when you read a book hoping that it will be made into a movie and trying to decide who to cast as..... I came to love each and every character, past and present times, and can't wait to download the next in the series!

Abby, as a summer intern, would change this rough, unmotivated adolescent; I was disappointed that her attempts with basic math and reading were not a priority. She gained Merrideth's attention through history and time travel on the computer, but did she do her job as her University demanded? Still, a quick, easy read.
