A Mafia Thriller (Vista Security Series Book 1) - The Good Daughter

I enjoyed reading this Mafia story - it was enthralling
from beginning to end. A few grammatical errors in the
Italian short sentences (cf. Amor mia instead of Amore mio).
Overall, enjoyable reading!

Excellent storytelling and editing. This book is well worth reading. From the mafia don daughter who from 10 years old was passed around to the guys that got the mafia jobs done to the soccer star and his wife who cannot get away from the mafia terrors. Then the FBI agent who is trying to fix everyone's problems without getting anyone killed, this story while not fast paced action will still keep you reading far longer than you really wanted to. So good I decided to start the 2nd Vista book, which BTW is not a continuation of this book.

I usually dont read mafia stories but this book was so good and i felt like i was in the story and could not put it down. it was compassionate and romantic and terror gripping all in one.. a great read

While the read was good it was full of sterotypes. Not very complex, but an enjoyable read. I would have liked more logic as to how everyone winds up in 1 city. Expected ending, but still entertaining.

A very good book! A story of love, loyalty, murder...it's the mafia. Would you expect anything less? I could not put it down. You will not be disappointed either. Looking forward to more books from Diana Maybe.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I love a book that can hold my attention from beginning to end and this book definitely did that...and left me wanting more. I wanted just a few more chapters to finish it up for me.
Great characters that you truly grew to care about and root for - others you rooted against, just like at a soccer game.
I wish there was a sequel to this book. I would definitely like to know how things played out in the end for all of the key characters.
I would recommend this book to all types of readers. It is not full of vulgarity, erotica, a lot of violence or anything that is too out there.
I look forward to reading more books by Diana Layne.

A good story filled with action. The story recounts how the mafia can infiltrate into a person's life and the difficulties is becoming free of that influence. Action and a love story or two make for entertaining reading!

I loved the story right up until the last chapter. I had no idea from the storyline that I was even reading the last chapter. The author had done a thorough, intricate job of telling back stories on each character and interwove them very effectively but certainly dropped the ball in resolving those stories at the end of the book. As much as I had enjoyed reading The Good Daughter, when I finished the book I wished that I could have those minutes of my life back as I felt so letdown and discouraged that the book was not brought to completion in a more maturely written way. It was almost like Ms. Layne forgot what she had written already and what information had been left hanging for the reader. Leaving a reader to their own imagination to resolve a story can be intriguing; in this case it was disappointing and left me wanting for something I will never get from this book - a good ending.

"The Good Daughter" is one of the best thriller/action novels I've read in a long time. The book is very well written, and the plot is fast paced and unpredictable with an assortment of believable and realistic characters. I look forward to reading more of this author's work and hope to see these characters again!

in the middle of the action. I had to take time outs to settle my nerves. This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more.
