Quintessentially Q (Monsters in the Dark Book 2)

I knew from reading reviews that something bad happened to Tess at the beginning of this book. The road back from this terrible event was gut wrenching. It ripped my heart out. Stomped on it. Put it in a blender and chopped it up into a gazillion pieces and then set it in fire. What an emotional roller coaster ride this book was. There is a HEA, but the road to get there is treacherous. I hope book 3 is all hearts and flowers and BDSM!

This series has merit and is very interesting. I do love a good dark romance, after all, the Consequences series by Aleatha Romig is one of my favorite all-time book series. This work, however, is a bit too dark for my taste. It wasn't so much the trafficking storyline that bothered me as that set the stage. It was how truly Q really seems to ONLY get aroused by causing physical pain. I just don't see that as romantic or redeeming. I hope he gets over this in book 3.

Oh my goodness. No words, no words are suitable or could do this book justice. Rarely is a sequel better than the first, this is one of those rare occasions for me. It has also been a while since I stayed up late into the night to finish a book because I couldn't stop reading it!

The author did a fantastic job staying true to the characters and their inner struggles. No rush job here. I really fell into Tess and Q's story and their love affair felt genuine. Albeit a little dark. :)

The story of Tess and Q continues right where Tears of Tess left off. Tess has returned to Q and hopes to start her life with him as a willing partner instead as a slave that he had taken in exchange for a bribe. I must say that this book has you going on a crazy roller coaster ride, emotions are all over the place with Tess and Q. You know nothing can go smoothly in their life so there is a LOT of drama in this book and some of it I didn't see coming!

**You must read Tears of Tess first!** I honestly had no idea where this second book was going to lead to, but wow, I was so drawn in to this book, it was unbelievable. You can feel the pain, heartache, and every other emotion that the characters are going through. I can't say enough about this author and her ability to bring everything together and make this story flow.This romance is not for the faint of heart, but is well worth your time to read the continuation of this turbulent love. I am excited to see the third part of this series.

You will never stop reading a Pepper Winters book and not become an addict. I could not stop reading Q and Tess are addicting. They will make you cry, laugh, sigh and yes get hot. They are intense and Pepper writes so dam good that even after I read the last book I will still want more of Q and Tess!

Quintessentially Q is a really dark book, however I couldn't stop turning the pages. Even pissed myself off that I started it so late in the evening that I couldn't finish it in one night. Tess is literally put through hell, and so is Q in his search, and then the recovery process. I teared up so many times during the book I lost count. Even though I haven't read the final book in the series, I still highly recommend the entire series with a small warning that it is not for the faint of heart.

I liked the way the book was written. Flipping back and forth between Tess and Q's povs was very helpful in this story.

Bothe Tess and Q are put through the wringer in this book. In the beginning of the book I was a little uncomfortable at the interaction between the two. Their interactions were a bit more intense than the first book. The main theme/conflict in this book is similar to parts of the last book. Also it wraps up unresolved issues from the first book.

I think I experienced just about every emotion possible while reading this book. It is definitely not for the faint of heart or for someone looking for a feel good, warm fuzzy read. If you are looking for something besides " girl meets handsome millionaire" than you should absolutely read this one! It will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, one you will never forget.........

I spent three days reading Tears of Tess and then Quintessentially Q. I love this series and could not put these books down until I found out what happened. The subject matter of human trafficking, while true, is still hard to stomach, but these books were very well written. The story is emotionally gripping and will keep you reading until the end. I love how the author finished this book without a cliff hanger, but is still going to continue Tess & Q's story in another book. I can't get enough of Tess & Q.

The story was sometimes intense and there parts that was difficult for me to read, but out of disgust, evil and darkness grows an unusual love story. The heroine discovers will's of power within herself. the hero despite all the his bestiality helps her find them. I was fascinated by that book and it's not easy because I read a lots of books and it's hard to challenge me but I just could not put the book down it was pure pleasure. Eagerly waiting for the third book. I'd give it 10 stars...

This was definitely the type of book to pull anyone out of their comfort zone. Either emotionally, context, or due to the graphic nature of the book. Even after reading, it will stick with you for days. The characters make you want to scream at them & then pity them all at the same time. I honestly can't wait until the next book of this deranged serious comes out because you can't help but be hooked on this strange page turner of a book. Warning...this novel is not for the light off heart romance most would seek, but it is a dark riveting tale of overcoming demons, & taking back control of your life.

WOW Pepper you blew me away again. This book takes you on an emotional roller coaster like no other book I have ever read!!! It is haunting, breathtaking and heartbreaking at some points. This is a must read series. The writing is flawless. Q and Tess go through so much, can they find HEA on the ride that they take. You need to find out in this dark and twisted series. Will you love it.

Holy Wow. The second book was darker then the first. I know the human trafficking thing is real. And I have say it was nice to read about someone who not only killed his father to free his stable of women at 16 years old but after taking over his father's company he began to buy slaves and rehabilitate them then send them home. Love Q and Tess. Can't wait to read book 3.

I read A LOT!!!! Was really getting bored with the same old story. Well, this is not your typical romance by any standards. This book is raw and emotional, torturious and gritty, yet simply addicting. It was nice to experience this story because that's what it is...an experience.
When I write reviews, I try extremely hard not to write spoiler alerts...I like to write about how the story affected me. And this story WILL affect you. I strongly recommend reading this if you're like me and ready for something different.

Oh my god this book is amazingly brilliant, from the beginning you are pulled in and hooked. Tess and Q have an emotional journey in this book that will leave you an emotional wreck but loving all the angst at the same time. To say I highly recommend this book and its previous Tears of Tess is an understatement as it they are both my 2013 reads of the year.I thoroughly enjoyed them both.Pepper Winters is an amazing writer with a deliciously dark mind and tells a beautiful story

This book totally went there, to the darkest corner of your mind. The description of Tess's torture and Q's quest to save her were so dark and degrading I almost lost my mind. It took a lot to break tess but she was still in there fighting. Once word that could describe this book is intense. You are on the edge of your seat the whole book. Even when things are good they are tenuous. There is an edge to this book that draws you in. You have to finish this book to make sure these characters with little to no appeal survive. They are like an anti hero. I just keep hoping they survive and thrive. Just like the first book, this is not for everyone. It off dark, violent and frightening. But I'm drawn to it like a mouth to a flame. I can't wait for the next one.

This book elicited one helluva rollercoaster of emotions. You have to have reads 'Tears of Tess' to fully appreciate the tormented vortex of plain and pleasure that surrounds Q and his esclave. Pepper Winters has taken us on a wild dark but ultimately fabulous ride through the minds of Q and Tess. Quintessentialy Q surpassed the excellence that was Tears of Tess. Pepper Winters I am a big fan and will wait with bated breath for new books from your twisted and talented mind!

This book was hard to read with the graphic portrayal of victimization that so many women endure when they have been kidnapped and sold into human trafficking. I had so many emotions reading about Tess's torture and survival. Also the pain that Q went thru was unbearable at times. It's amazing how much their love was able to endure and save them. I can't wait for the final book and their HEA!

Talk about AWESOME this is even better than the first. This is dark and some of the things done will have you squirming but it only makes this story better. I can't wait to see what Q wants us to see, how dark he really is . I didn't think he could be any darker but book 3 will obviously let us know, I hope . This is truly right up my dark road alley.

This book has a phenomenal storyline and is a wonderful extension of Tears of Tess. The author pursues a different slant on the topic that books of this nature typically do not. It is very thought provoking and humbling in its presentation of the frailties of the human experience. You fall even more in love with the characters than you did in Tears of Tess. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes to think and grow and evolve.

Tears of Tess was great, but Quintessentially Q was brilliant!
I just LOVE both of these characters. They both have such strong dispositions, and face such incredible adversity, and are perfect for one another.
This book has action, romance, angst, suspense, and HOT erotica.
Again, this story is DARK - BDSM themed erotica, kidnapping, slavery, etc...And I loved every single minute of it!

I AM TOTALLY ABSORBED IN THIS COMPLICATED STORY WHERE DEMONS HAUNT AND TAUNT, LOVE RAGES, DARKNESS EXTINGUISHES - DREAMS AND HOPES... AND LINGERS. THE STORY OF TESS AND Q WAS GRIPPING, DAUNTING, TRAGIC AND BEAUTIFUL AT TIMES. I'M CAPTIVATED BY PEPPER WINTER'S PHENOMENAL STORYTELLING, WRITING STYLE, IMAGINATION AND CREATION OF A TRAGIC LOVE STORY WITH SUCH DEPTH IT RADIATES OFF OF THE PAGES.

I truly enjoyed this book more than Tears of Tess...I think I found that the writing found its depth that I was missing in the first book. I loved the headings and poetry, it set the scene and mood of the chapters. The story really took off and I felt the despair of the characters, the revelations, and emotions. Cant wait to read the third installment! And will recommend.

If your the squeamish type you might want to rethink this book. For everyone else wow you have a story ahead of you. The POV makes this book such a thrill to read. It shows both characters struggles and emotions so your not always wondering what Mr. Dark and mysterious (yet sexy) is thinking. Tess goes through a lot in this book and there's only one person who can help her overcome her demons! This book is as good if not better than book 1 and i'm looking forward to more!! ~*Megz*~

I thought that book one (tears of Tess) was incredible and it was but this one kept me up for almost 24 hours devouring Q and everything that makes him Q. There was so much beauty in the pain of this book I found myself reading through tears on more than one occasion. Brutally raw, dark, gritty and beautiful. I can't wait for the next book in the series and I'll keep my fingers crossed for a Franco spinoff!

Great second installment!!!! This book takes you on an even darker ride than the first. We see even more into Q and what makes him the man that he is. We also see how he is dealing with his feelings for Tess and that those feels will allow him to do for the woman that he loves. What a thrill ride. Q the ultimate monster!

I am still trying to figure out my thoughts about this book. I think the writer and really been there ....... but I hope not but how do you gain this information if not. All I can say is intense and WOW! Some of the parts that is so intense I really thought they were a little long she could have shortened them but who am I to say I read it all.

This series was amazing. The passion, pain, and love in this series draws you in. It will anger you and have you wanting to jump in and help both of the main characters. This book contains rape, human trafficking, abuse, murder and hardcore BDSM situations so not suitable for all audiences. Highly recommend this series you will not be disappointed its worth the money and time to read.

What can I say? Quintessentially Q by Pepper Williams was EXCELLENT! It was a "sitting on the edge of your seat, nail-biting, terrifying" experience! This is one book that will keep you glued to the pages until you become so anxious, you'll have to put it down for 10 minutes and walk away, only to pick it back up again to find out what happens next. What an experience!

And the story goes on keeping you captivated page by page. Q & Tess`s love won't be challenged by anything no matter how dark or evil. Thankfully when I started #2 we had major snow in VA which I used to my advantage reading non-stop. Getting wrapped up in this story will make you wanna call into work!!! Book #3, I can't wait :)
