Another 5 star read from Tessa Bailey. I think this may he my favorite so far. Vaughn stole my heart and soul. I also absolutely adored River and her strength. I love a tortured hero more than any other, especially a former military man. I turned pages faster than lightning once I started. I absolutely could not put it down.

Vaughn and River have had an undeniable love and chemistry from the start. He waited with the patience of a saint until she was 18 to take her virginity. That is love from a man for sure. Men wait that long for no one. He had no family, no money, and no security to offer River. He tried so hard to make her leave and make something of her life but she was not giving him up willingly. With threats facing them, he made that decision for her and left.

In the meantime, River had his baby and he had no idea. 4 years later, he is back and he plans to make things right. He is relentless in his pursuit of having River and Marcy in his life. Slowly he invades her heart again and tears down the walls. Only now those same demons are coming back to try and tear them apart. Can they survive it again?

This book is definitely not short on heat. You are guaranteed to live this tortured hero and the woman he loves.

Vaughn De Matteo is confronted with his past. After getting a letter from River’s brother about what he did to his sister, he’s more than determined to finally claim her. Four years ago, the town bad boy left River thinking she’d be better off at a chance for a life without him. He never knew he left her pregnant with his child.

River Purcell’s always loved Vaughn since they were highschool sweethearts. She’s kept a secret about the last night they were together. I admired River for her fortitude and determination as a single mother, and she finally stood up for herself at the end.

I’ve always enjoyed Tessa Bailey’s books where I know to expect a dirty talking hero and lots of steaminess. Thrown Down did not disappoint in that aspect. This story is filled with angst, emotion and steamy passion. It’s a classic theme of bad boys grows up and claims his good girl. Both River and Vaughn are determined to have their happiness in spite of what others do to keep them apart. Very romantic and an enjoyable read.

Thrown Down was a heartwarming second chance love story.
Both River & Vaughn were passion and likable characters who loved hard but needed to learn how to communicate with words and trust their love for each other.

I really enjoyed Thrown Down but there was a couple of things that stopped me from rating it higher.
I found the dirty talk a little too much, it took away from their hotness and these two were seriously hot together.
Also this might be a bit trivial for most readers but I wished we had more Vaughn and Marcy time. I was really looking forward to Vaughn getting to know his young daughter, and her getting to know him. The few scenes with them together melted my heart as they were some serious swoon moments ;)

Overall this was a heartfelt & emotional read with believable and relatable characters that will touch your heart with their second chance love story.

River and Vaughn met when River was in high school. Vaughn waited for River's eighteenth birthday to take her virginity. River and Vaughn love each other desperately. Vaughn thought he was not good enough for River. River's dad felt like Vaughn was not good enough. River's dad told Vaughn that he would give the deed to the house if Vaughn would live town and River. Vaughn loved River enough to make sure River had a house.

Forty-nine months and three days Vaughn found his way back to that town and found River and so much more.

I loved this couple. You could feel the love they had for each other in the past and how time didn't change that fact. That couple had some sizzling sex. They even learn how communication is vital.

I really enjoyed this book. I love a second chance romance, if it's done right and this one definitely was! River and Vaughn's chemistry was off the charts from the very beginning. And even though she told him there was no place for him in her life, you could tell the pull to Vaughn just wouldn't allow that. River's head may have been saying "no", but her heart and body said "yes, yes, yes". That seemed to be the best way for this couple to come back together. Vaughn had a lot to atone for and didn't give up. This story seemed to move quick once Vaughn was back in town and there were some areas that I wished we could have gotten more details on. I would have liked to see more of his budding relationship with his daughter.

I love the characters in this new series. Looking forward to more!

Thrown Down was my first story by Tessa Bailey and it was a good read. I didn't love it, however. It was well written, and I liked that the characters were real and you got a glimpse of their everyday lives. But, while the dirty talk and sexy times were good, they overshadowed the story for me bit. I think this was a little more angsty than I generally like my romances, so maybe that was part of it too. I'd be interesting in reading more from this author, but maybe not in this particular series.

On the surface Thrown Down is your standard romance. Bad boy, good girl , second chance, etc. Digging deeper however exposes a story of self doubt, yearning and examines painful truths. I received an ARC of Thrown Down by Tessa Bailey in exchange for an honest review. River and Vaughn allowed the opinions of others to shape how they felt about each other and themselves. Thrown Down is about confronting the past so that history does not repeat. A little slow but still a good bet. My rating 3.5 stars

This is a book about second chances. River and Vaughn are very passionate characters who suffered a lot and after forty nine months apart get together again. Now with a daughter in common.

I enjoyed the book but Vaughn's dirty talk sometimes was too much for me. They were really hot together but sometimes he was too coarse for me.

It was a very emotional book and I enjoyed reading it.

I loved Vaughn. His movements with with River were so measured, real and tender. Tessa beautifully conveyed the struggle of the the returning father who never thought he was good enough for River.

As it happened with all books written by Tessa Baikey, after reading this I'm still trying to figure what I liked more: the hot scenes she so wickedly writes or the heartwarming beauty of the love story.

This is a second chance romance between an everyday girl, so charming and lovely and her highschool boyfriend who still believes he's not good enough for her. But with each action he proves the incredible man he is. And oh, the way the loves leaves no questions about his feelings.

Vaughan is an irresistible character, you cannot help being of his side. You can read this without reading the first book in the series , but there you get a few hints about his departure and how he is blamed for leaving his pregnant girlfriend. I do love the way this book pictures him and his struggles in a new light, and the way River deep down believes in him and their realtionship. I loved their maturity and their no-nonse attitudes, there was no unnecesary drama from neither of them.

Though I am not a fan of second chance romances this one has all the charm that comes from Tessa Bailey's writing. If you are not familiar with her style, you will get a beautiful love story and damn hot scenes that you will sure remember . And if you are familiar, well are already prepared for the awesomeness, vaughan might be your new favorite hero :)
