SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

This review will contain heavy spoilers so if you don't want to be spoiled please skip the review.

There are a few things I didn't like about this book:

Firstly I think Jeanine Frost should have stuck to her plan to make this two or more books and not just because I don't want the series to end. This book was way too rushed. Introducing the villain that has been orchestrating everything from the start in the last book completely out of nowhere and only giving him 2 scenes was way too quick for me. They found the secret base and destroyed everything way to easily. Cat finding out she has a daughter all went by too fast. I hate to make harsh accusations about an author whose work I've enjoyed for years now but I feel like she just wanted Cat and Bones to be over so she could move on to her next story, which she says she's been wanting to write for years.

Secondly there's so much repetition from the previous books, especially Vlad's part. As I read I was actually picking out the parts that had already been used. Bones breaking up with her = book 4, Bones dying = book 3, them using the ghosts to find something = book 5 etc. and so forth. I understand using elements from previous books to tie everything together in the end but this went too far.

Thirdly Cat and Bones's relationship was not strong, I felt. I don't mind the lack of near constant lust that was there in the first books. They're past the "we must get it on at every possible opportunity" stage and are comfortably married. It's a good, natural progression. But the scene in the silo was terrible. To me Bones was nothing but arrogant and showed very little respect for Cat. The double standard and inequality between them was unbelievable. he said Cat was reckless and her own worse enemy for taking a course of action everyone agreed on but him (and Spade but only because of Denise) then he turned around and said he practiced killing himself. he said he hid his powers from her so he could physically restrain her from doing something dangerous and he didn't care how she felt about it. I can accept him not telling her his plan to fake his death because he wanted her reaction to be genuine but not the rest. If Cat had done what he did it, it would probably have been the book 4 break up scene all over again. Cat would be in the wrong and Bones' anger would be "justified". But for some reason Bones can lie to her, trick her, go behind her back, cause her massive emotional pain and take huge, enormous risks and all he has to do is blast her with his feelings and everything's ok. What's also annoying is Bones could've avoided the whole situation if he'd just controlled all the people with his power instead of playing possum.

Fourthly (if that's even a word) Cat was made redundant in the end. She was frozen, unable to do anything while they "killed" her "daughter". Katie was saved in a way that Cat not only had no part in but was also completely unaware of until the last second. The situation was resolved without her involvement and as the main character that's not acceptable. I guess when she and Bones killed the demon that could've been the main conclusion but the demon was in it so little, his death just didn't feel important to me. Also another annoying thing was Bones' telepathic message. Instead of "trust me" which is sweet I guess "it's Denise" would've been way more helpful to Cat if less suspenseful to the reader.

Fifthly? Cat and Bones were domesticated. All their badassness and fire was snuffed out. The reader was inundated by Cat's internal dialogue about not wanting to fight, having nothing left to prove, wanting to enjoy being married and to return to the quiet life just to make sure they had no doubt the story was over. Cat and Bones' potential as badass master vampires was allowed to fizz out and die in favour of running away and hiding in Australia or New Zealand with their new found daughter and ragtag family. I do get the ending. They're happy, have a family and can now live quietly and peacefully together and put their fighting days behind them. That could work for some people, but maybe I just like drama because that ending didn't do it for me. I just wish they'd kept their fierceness and at least been something like "we're taking a beak now the undead world is quiet but if trouble ever comes our way again we'll be ready to defeat it" not "now we're going to live happily ever after and I'm permanently retiring so I can be a good house wife" (not that there's anything wrong with being a housewife)

And lastly I think the worst thing about this book is after listing everything I didn't like I'm having a hard time thinking of things I did. I know it was a solid addition to the series but as a book on it's own it wasn't bad just not very memorable. Marie was awesome and so was Tyler, Katie asking Cat if she was her mother was sweet, the fight in the secret base was exciting but other than that I didn't really like much.

Cat and Bones are my favourite paranormal couple. I'll miss looking forward to new books about them and unless there's a Katie book in future (which would be amazing) I don't expect to see any more cameos of them in other books now that they've moved to Australia or New Zealand, so I feel a little sad right now. But Cat and Bones will continue to be one of my favourite series from now on.

There couldn't have been a more satisfying ending to the Cat/Bones story. It was exciting, suspenseful, romantic, and sweet. We got to see a lot of our old favorite characters, and saw just enough of them to have us looking for future Night Huntress World books about them, especially Ian. :-) There's also the possibility that we could possibly see more Cat and Bones in the future, but it would be years in the making, as the story has definitely concluded...for now.

I'm surprised at the number of negative reviews of this book. I was almost reluctant to start it but glad I did. Don's replacement is our latest bad guy. And he wants Cat back on the team. But not because he admires her skills. And his ulterior motive is unbelievable. Of course Bones,Ian,Spade,Denise and Mencheres are along to take the bad guy on.
Book 1 - First Drop of Crimson - Night Huntress World :: Tave (Scifi Alien Romance) (The Ujal Book 2) :: Pregnant by the Alien Healer (Warriors of the Lathar Book 3) :: A Baby for Chashan (Scifi Alien Weredragon Romance) (Dragons of Preor Book 9) :: One Foot in the Grave: A Night Huntress Novel

I loved the entire Night Huntress series, and the conclusion did not disappoint. Cat and Bones are better together than ever and get to sail off into the sunset but with a new adventure. I was a little disappointed that the final "baddie" was another demon, when I think a regular human would have made a better statement about the humanity theme throughout. Still, a great story. And maybe, just maybe, we can get a new series of the next generation?

Jeaniene did a great job wrapping up this last book by bringing all the characters from all the Night Huntress books. This book was perfectly paced and leaves you at the edge of your seat with many twists and turns. Just when you think you know what will happen next you're thrown into another surprising and shocking twist. Buckle up!

For those who followed Cat and Bones from the beginning, this book will make you want to start reading the series over again from the start.

Lovely twist

As the others say, the big twist was foreseeable, since it was foreshadowed from the beginning. However, I really liked the end, where they get to sail the world for a bit.

On another note - seriously, Justina is just one problem after another. I understand that she's introduced to the series as additional motivation for Cat, but she constantly entangles Cat in problems.

My....what a whirlwind of action. This being the last book in this series is bittersweet, but it went out with a bang.
All of my favorites are back. I love Denise so I'm glad she jad a big role in here. Ian is awesome as ever. The big surprise plot twist I didnt expect. I liked it. I thought it was a satisifing end to a great series. So much to say bit I dont want to spoil it for everyone else.

Jeaniene Frost has done it again...did I say each book gets better. It's a love story without the sex, almost. One of her gifts is to create a love without it gushing throughout the book. This book I believe is her best to date. Her characters are all so different and thoughtfully conceived. This book is better edited perhaps than her others, and it flows so smoothly that I eagerly await a new one.

Warning: slight spoiler alert.

Most of this was amazing, but I feel like the kid thing has been beaten to death. However, it did have an interesting take on it. I'm sad to see these characters go.

I've read every book in the Night Huntress series and while this isn't the best one out of the lot, it was quite satisfying. I find it hard to believe that this is the end of the series because I can imagine at least three more stories out of the ending of this book but I guess that I'll have to accept that Miss Frost has decided to end it here.

Totally mind boggling plot.. I cried tears of pain with the tremendous loss an deception Kat went through. The plot actually deceived me an took me on a totally unexpected wild ride and journey. BUT, although it's said this is the last book Jeaniene Frost cleverly left this story open enough for SO much more to be written. Kudos to you Ms. FROST. I remain your dedicated reader.

What a great ending. Bones and Cat are an awesome couple Once again the novel clipped along with excitement. I loved that the characters were once again all brought back together. I loved this novel as well the e tire series. Maybe we can have another novel with Vlad in it now that he is married. Hopefully we may see more spinoffs of the character's. Thanks for a fabulous series!

I actually really enjoyed Up From the Grave. It was a quick read and kept my attention with its banter and action. Was it a complete redemption for the series? Well, no... but it was an enjoyable read and wrapped the series up in a satisfying way. I will miss Cat and Bones and do hope they will pop up in other Frost books, perhaps in the Night Prince series.

I was looking forward to this book because the last book and the Christmas novella seemed to move away from the whole I'm-going-to-lie-to-you-for-your-own-good-and-I-don't-care-how-you-feel thing. That was old before and in Up From the Grave it happens a few more times. I mean, how many more times can Bones pull the rug out from under Cat before she stops trusting him? It was a plot mechanism (on Cat's part) in the first book and in Destined for an Early Grave several books back and by now it's just irritating. By the time I got to the big reveal, I was pretty annoyed at all the characters, (and Jeaniene Frost), and was sorry I even downloaded the book.

I enjoyed the first two Night Prince books, but now that I've read this and seen the snippet from the third Night Prince book, I'm losing hope that the characters doen't get stuck in the same pattern in the third as they were in the first two.

I'm going to reread the Imp series by Debra Dunbar as a palate cleanser.

Not sure why all the negative reviews...this was a very typical Jeaniene Frost CAT and BONES book, meaning it was just as 5 star as all the others, and just as freaking funny. This was the absolute perfect ending, and I was just a little glad that Tate got a little happy ever after also, albeit not a traditional HEA, but happy none the less. Another amazing job Ms Frost.

Beautiful ending. I did not see that one coming. I knew Don was secretive, but this I didn't expect..

As as always I love Ian and look forward to reading his book in Night Huntress World.
I have fallen in love with all Jeanienne Frost characters and as long as she keep writing these beautiful stores I will continue to read them.

Definitely not what I was expecting…..it was even better! The incredibly tangled web that was woven between these characters is a work of art. There were a few odd parts….Not loving Vlad's part (or lack thereof), but overall, this was a great conclusion to my absolute favorite series! I feel kind of lost now without more Cat & Bones on the way :(

I've read a few reviews where people were complaining how they hated The twist, the ending but u have to think about it.. How else where Cat and Bones going to finally have a real life and settle down. And that's what I wanted for them to eventually have but it did seem like that would never happen.. THANK YOU Mrs. frost from giving it to them. While I was so sad to have the series end I was so happy with how u did it, and that u didn't drag it out. Please read this book it is just too good to push to the side..

Be prepared to not stop once you start... As with every book ms. frost has written, I have been glued to the pages dying to see what came next... Vampires, gouhls, ghosts, demons, awful humans... And saving a child... Genetic engineering, ruthless power hungry men... A great read where the good guys triumph and strong women are celebrated.

Sorry to see this series end. Hoping Katie will start her own series. Ms Frost has a lovely style of writing that is so smooth and flows very well. Please read this series from the beginning for the paranormal ride of your life. Sexy and steamy with lots of action. Love that the characters have their own story lines that are fascinating.

Every one of Jeanine Frost's books that make Cat and Bones the main focus are awesome! This one is no exception. Frost has a great sense of humor but still manages to keep a darker element in the books. My only complaint is that the book was too short! Also, someone told me this was the last Cat and Bones book. I seriously hope not!

What a delightful wicked evil dirty nasty story. I can not believe the bad people Bones and Car had to go against in this book. I was screaming with every twisted turn that was revealed. Hats off to the author. But what a reward in the end. Completely satisfying. When's book eight coming. I need more.

Jeanine Frost has made another masterpiece. I absolutely LOVE A Night Huntress series and this book just added to my addiction for more of Cat and Bones. I can't wait to read another of her books (when the next comes out) I am a HUGE fan of all of her books. This Series is by far my favorite, and this book just makes it even better.

Jeanine Frost has made another great book but as usual... They always end to fast and leave us wanting more. This is the last book in the series (unless the characters starts to speak to Jeanine again) and it is a good ending with unexpected twists and turns. From a planned series of nine books we received seven but it has been seven good books. I hope we get to see more of the characters even if it is as guests in the Prince-series or any other book.

I have loved this series from the beginning but I can understand her wanting to want to move on to other characters. The thing I appreciate most about Jeanine's writing is that she is pretty consistent across the series and unlike alot of other authors keeps up her writing in her books. I love her characters as well.

Cat and Bones fight again to save their people. Along the way they find information on why so much blood was taken from Cat's initial team when she first started working for her uncle.
I really enjoyed this series. I am glad that Vlad made an appearance in this book. Although I cannot wait for the rest of his story.

Halfway to the Grave was my first introduction to the UF genre, so Cat and Bones hold a special place in my heart. I can't believe this series is over. Just can't! Somehow I've gotten it into my head that UF series never end, because come on, there're series with ten books that's still going, so why must this be the end of Cat and Bones' story?

Now that I get that little rant out of the way, I can focus on the review. It's been a while since I read the last book, so I was fuzzy on the details, but Cat and Bones have had a relatively peaceful life for the last few month, until Cat's uncle, Don, who's now a ghost, shows up and tells Cat that her former teammates are missing. Now worried for the safety of her old teammates, Cat has to go back to Madigan, the person who took over after Don's death, to find and save her friends.

As always with these books, the action starts from the beginning and doesn't let up. All the characters that we've come to love shows up and plays their role, even the ones in the spin-off novels. I truly enjoyed seeing the timeline of this one meshing with Vlad's stories. While I loved it, I expected more out of it because it is the last book. In terms of action and romance, it is on par with the previous books. Lots of bloody fighting, even fights between Cat and Bones. But I just couldn't find the something special you do with last books in the series.

Until the big twist. Oh yeah, the twist just flips you upside down and inside out until you feel just as confused as Cat. There're a lot of heartbreak and secrets that comes to light in this one that wraps up the series very nicely once the twist is revealed.

I'm sad that Cat's story has ended, but I like happy endings and I think she deserved it, although with Cat, I'm sure her life could never be boring, especially with how the book ended. However, there're definitely potential for future spin-offs and I hope Jeaniene Frost won't completely stop with this world. There're just way too many beloved characters for us readers to let go of. I will definitely be reading this series again in its entirety again!

Wasn't this the plot to Underworld: Awakenings??? Done better by Ms Frost.

I love Cat and Bones and I'm very sorry this is their last book. It wasn't the best book in the series. The plot seemed to be borrowed from the worst movie in a movie franchise.
I enjoyed reading it...that's why the 3 stars.

Great book. Never saw that coming! I can't believe this is the last book. There is so much more story here! I want to know what happens with Katie and how Cat and Bones deal with parenthood. Does anyone ever find out about her? I have to know guess I will have to wait for someone to do a fanfic story of what happens next.

Amazing series, I recommend you start with book one! It seemed like this might have been her last book in this series, but don't forget to also read the 3 spin-off books. This story just has some amazing characters, is fast paced and very entertaining! If you like vampires, this is a series for you.

Once again Jeaniene Frost does not disappoint fans of her series. It is sad to see it end, but at least it ends with integrity, unlike other recent authors in the same genre. She created a lovely world of flawed and fantastic characters that we were able to see grow and develop. I truly hope that once she has gone off to do other stories/projects, she revisits Cat and Bones, et al and finds their next story or series of stories. I look forward to seeing them interwoven into the Night Prince series and other spin-offs as they happen. Maybe even a Katie series with her all grown up! If you are a fan of the series you will enjoy this last installment.

Have been a fan of this series sense the beginning and am sorry to see it come an end but I'm please it ends on the same level of creative with the characters personality remaining strong, sensitive , tough to the end. ( hopefully one day to read about the daughter when she's grown up).
