Usually bickering annoys me but these siblings will crack you up. Bloody, brutal and hilarious. What a combination! Make sure you start from the beginning of the series so you understand it all but it is totally worth the read!

Just bought this morning, I couldn't put it down. I was intrigued from the beginning. Couldn't stop laughing. It was like a movie in my mind. Can't wait for the next one. Thank you so much!! Aloha and Mahalo!!

Some parts were cute and well done. But those were few although I did get a few snickers. But that was due to situations in previous books and yes it's been awhile. I got caught up in the huge cast and had to stop and identify names and family relationships, mates, and children. The story doesn't flow at all. I wished she had a glossary. Maybe she has one someplace but not with this book. Now that I think about it, I did ask about a glossary before.
How many times can Anwyll get kidnapped? It's getting old. And the triplets. I couldn't place them. Were they Dagnor's, part of the five? As you can tell I got confused . . . And the main character Aiden. He said he's royalty but I couldn't link him to his parents. I was completely blank and still am and that's a bad situation when it's never explained. This is a main character. I shouldn't be done with the story and still wonder how Aiden connects into the Southerland royal dragon family. The main drawback was how gruesome this was, more detailed violence, more so than the other books.. Now maybe I'll change my mind if I ever re-read it and give it a higher rating, but for now it's 2 stars.- Dan's Wife

***4.5 ‘Battle-f*%^ Crazy’ Stars***
What. A. Ride.
I mean this book is over 400 pages and I felt every single one. I enjoyed the h%ll out of all of it, but I really want to tack the word “Epic” on here because that was a true journey. Thankfully Aiden and Brannie’s own journey to their HEA, which was thankfully was much must more sweet and simple in comparison, which helped to even things out. I know this is touted as paranormal romance, but with ALL that happens, it really is much more urban fantasy than anything else. But regardless of what ‘label’ this one should be under the bottom line is I laughed, I cringed, I rolled my eyes and I loved every Extra AF moment.
I loved Aiden and Brannie. Aiden, considering that he is a Mi-runach, was all kinds of charming, logical, loyal to a fault and something of a peacemaker when necessary. But he does have his limits and has no problem cutting a person down when necessary. Brannie the She-Dragon was very different than Brannie the Captain. One was very focused and intense, the other was something of a ditz and quite thick in the head at times. but both sides have a very strong moral compass which made her fun to be around. Their romance, and I use that term lightly, was a true slow build that speeds up a lot towards the end. With everything else going on I had no problem with that because it allowed them to truly get to know each other and I loved them together. They were fun, funny and I liked how they simply got on together and really were a perfect match.
Then there is the whole issue with the One-Eye’d God. When I said in the beginning that ‘Epic’ should be tacked on here, I meant it. So much happens and so many side storylines came up and needed to be resolved before the big blowout that while I enjoyed it all, it did cause things to drag a bit for me. The saving grace, which some may not care for, were the multiple POV’s throughout the book. Each of these characters are Extra AF in their own right. They have their unique quirks and they own every inch of them. I love being in their heads and experiencing the world through their eyes. Annwyl and Dagmar are still my all time favorites, but Keita jumped up the ranks in this one. I’m hoping that there will be more books in this series, and from the way things ended there just may be, because I want more time with these crazy characters and I really want more time with the Abominations. I love the twins, but it’s Var that definitely peaked my interest in this one. So, fingers and toes crossed that more is to come in the Dragon Kin series!

HE SAYS . . .
I, Aidan the Divine, am . . . well, divine. My name was given to me by the Dragon Queen herself! I’m a delight! Cheerful. Charming. And a mighty warrior who is extremely handsome, with a very large and well-hidden hoard of gold. I am also royal-born, despite the fact that most in my family are horrendous beings who don’t deserve to live. And yet, Branwen the Awful—a low-born, no less—either tells me to shut up or, worse, ignores me completely.
SHE SAYS . . .
I’ll admit, I ignore Aidan the Divine because it annoys him. A lot. But we have so much to do right now, I can’t worry about why he keeps staring at me, or why he always sits so close, or why he keeps looking at me like he’s thinking about kissing me. We have our nations to save and no time for such bloody foolishness . . . no matter how good Aidan looks or how long his spiked tail is. Because if we’re going to win this war before it destroys everything we love, we’ll have to face our enemies together, side by side and without distractions. But if we make it out alive, who knows what the future will hold . . .
Review:
You know how sometimes series start to get stale after so many books, well this series does not suffer from this problem!!
In each book you have a continuing/evolving story that includes a hot couple, wickedly fun dialogue, blood and gore, and Annwyl. Seriously though, I love each of these books. You never what is going to happen. I love that even though it is featuring a specific couple, everyone and their brother is usually involved in the story. And again, Annwyl, good thing she is a tough b***** because she sure does get beat on a lot and the baddies always under estimate her.
This book is Aidan and Brannie's story, but like I said everyone is involved. They were a great couple, who came together a little easier than some of the other couples in the series. Theirs was globe trotting adventure with lots of fun, drama and blood. I am not going to give away more than that. This series, though not necessary to be read in order, really should be because of that continuing/evolving storyline.

I really love this series. It is full of bizarre, crazy, one of kind characters. I'm usually laughing out loud several times during the book. If you haven't read the Dragon Kin series I don't recommend starting with this book as the plot is a continuing one.
The characters in this book are truly unique and I really enjoy the world that she has built. Although I really think she needs a who's who and how they are connected at the front of her book as I found myself trying to remember exactly who everyone was and how they connected since there are so many characters from previous books that play a pivotal roll in this one.
Some of the characters have definitely stuck with me more than others and I love that they continue to play an important part in the story. In fact, I wish the author would stop introducing so many new characters and write a few more books giving Annwyl, Izzy, Keita and Dagmar a more prominent roll as well as Annwyl's twins.
Dragon Heat was Aidan and Branwen's story however there was so much more to this book and part of the continuing plot was wrapped up in a wonderful way. Aidan and Branwen started as very good friends although it was apparent that Aidan had some more romantic feelings for Branwen. So the romance was more of a slow burn and was actually pretty sweet compared to the previous relationships in this series. The war really takes off in this book and we get a resolution with Chramnesind's priests and zealots. There is a lot of violence and some humor along the way (although not as much as usual in this book). There is so much happening to so many players that I can't say the book really focused on Aidan and Branwen but I really enjoyed it. The interactions between all the different characters, the sense of family they have, and all the action made this a whirlwind read for me. It also brought a new villain/plot out that I'm sure we will be reading more about in the next book and I for one can't wait.
A copy of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

BRING THE HEAT is one of my most anticipated books of the year. First of all, if you haven’t read G.A. Aiken before and you’re a fan of Paranormal/Fantasy Romance, then you definitely need to pick this series up. This series is all about a crazy ass dragon family. If you’re new to Aiken, then let me warn you that her books tend to be over the top, violent, and ruthless, just like her characters and this is really why I really love her. There is literally no one else who can do crazy and funny quite like Aiken can.
This book doesn’t waste any time when it comes to the big war that this series has been building up to. The Zealots have made their move and now its up to Brannie, Aiden, and the rest of the crew to stop them. I would suggest reading the books in order because every single one of the previous couples appears in this book. You’ll get some updates of them, as well as see how they all work as a team in this war. Aiken goes through multiple points of views so you get to be in everyone’s head at least once.
The romance between Brannie and Aiden doesn’t get started right away but it does heat up quickly. As you can expect, there’s a lot of great banter between them. Aiken writes some pretty independent and strong heroines who are often quite ruthless so if you’re expecting sweet, tender moments, you’ll probably not get that with this series. Brannie is definitely one of my favorite heroines of this series because of her ruthless, care-free attitude that often gets her into trouble. She was an absolute thrill to read.
Surprisingly, we get a lot of Keita in this book. She’s had a book before but she plays a bigger part in this book. Keita and Brannie are cousins and seeing them fight throughout this book made me laugh so much. It was like watching to hot-headed bulls go against each other. So in addition to the romance, the war and its politics, I had this to look forward to as well.
BRING THE HEAT definitely lived up to my expectations. I just can’t seem to get enough of this series!

Bring the Heat is book 9 in the Dragon Kin series- Aiden the Divine and Branwen (AKA Brannie) the Awful's story. This book can be read as a standalone, however I typically think the books are best read in order. Though the author does a good job of letting you know who each of the characters are, and you see some of their personalities, you don't get as much if you don't read the previous stories. This is the hardest review I've ever done on a book. I love this series and have read every book this author writes and under her other name also. I couldn't wait to read this book, and I was so disappointed in this book. First, if I wouldn't have known that it was a romance book, I would have had no idea until after 50% of the way through the book that it was one. The story jumps around so much that it was hard to know what was going on, and the romance was an after thought. It did not feel like the premise for the book, there was more about the other characters in the story then there were about the H&h. I did enjoy Aiden and Branwen as characters, but again, the story didn't feel like it was about them. I always enjoy the humor in the books, and there is a fair amount of it in this book. The humor and the last 25-30% of the book is why I rated it at 3 stars. The book jumped around less, and it started to close out the story line. I did feel like the ending of the story just stopped which was frustrating also since the story between Aiden and Branwen was so limited. Though this story didn't do much for me, I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!

Showdown time, from the beginning battle scene to the end Bring the Heat is more a war time good versus evil story with a good dose of romance. Bring the Heat brings a conclusion to the one major overarching theme in this series but leaves a lot of wiggle room for more books to come.
I don’t think this was intended to be a stand-alone book since there are so many characters. Many it seems are from previous books, some may well be new ones. Having only read a couple of books in the series, I am not sure. It did cause a bit of confusion especially if names were similar. There is also a complexity to some of the supporting characters that meant they walked the line on being good or bad, according to their personal agendas at the moment. All that means, this is one intriguing read.
The love interest between Aidan the Divine and Branwen The Awful is a natural progression from friends to lovers. I liked them both, enjoying their titles as well as many of the others. The bigger theme overshadowed their story at times, but I imagine such is true in the time of war. Several subplots are also happening so the reader is kept on their toes.
The author mixes humor and grisly battle scenes within this intricate plot. Fans of this series will find this to be a must read. For paranormal fans like me, I wish that I had read the books in order instead of jumping to this one. It is a series worth the time and cost.

An exciting addition to this series, I devoured this book quickly and happily. I have to say that this is NOT a standalone, and I think this would be difficult for anyone to follow without knowing the history. The series has been building towards a confrontation between Salebiri, the God Chramnesind and the Mad Queen of Garbhan Isle, Cadwaladyrs and the House of Gwalchmai fab Gwyar and the battle finally comes to a rousing conclusion here (with a hint of things to come). All of the series favorites are involved in this one and all the ongoing plot points worked seamlessly to give me a fantastic, exciting tale.
The only thing that took a teeny, tiny, itty, bitty bit off the rating for me was the romance (aka the thing that brings me to the yard, every time). While I like Brannie and Aiden, and their relationship was fun, you could honestly take it out of the equation and this book would have functioned just as well. It didn’t feel essential, and while I liked the characters I wasn’t completely bowled over by them either.
Having said that, if you love this series I would highly recommend picking up this book. If you haven’t read the series but you love fantasy series with lots of humor and action-adventure and intricate familial relationships, I’d also encourage you to pick this up...after you start at the beginning.

The Story: As the war ravages on, the dragon queen Rhiannon Sends her daughter Keita the Viper, Niece Branwen the Awful, Loyal solider Aidan the divine and several others to the Eastland Dragon Queen to finally turn the tide of the war once and for all. Zealots and Keita have their own plans separate from what Branwen wants to do. By order of the queen she must obey, regardless how much Branwen disagrees.
Thoughts:
I got this book through the store Prime Program, While I’m usually religious about going in correct series order, I broke my rule this time, but I’m thrilled I did! This is the ninth in the series, plenty of glimpses with all the couples that came before. GA Aiken held my interest shockingly well; I couldn’t put this book down! Sleep be damned! It has everything I look for in a paranormal romance: fast paced, strong characters with full complex personalities, a good dose of humor, wicked fight scenes both as human and dragon, All the while the push pull of Branwen and Aidan. I imagine if I’d had read the series in order it would have been much fuller experience. IMO this book was perfect!! Instant fan, I will definitely dive into other books by Ms, Aiken

I loved this chaotic ride with the dragons and the trouble that is always present. All I could do was hang on and enjoy the madcap mayhem. It isn’t a sweet romance, or even a hot one – but rather a fun one, because Brannie had her usual brassiness, which was well matched with Aiden’s patience. Sadly, they didn’t have a lot of time alone, it was usually filled with enemies and their crazy families; but that is what makes it a Dragon Kin novel. I admit that a part of me misses the more “one on one” romances of the first books, but once in this world, it’s hard to let go. Another fun addition to the series.

Oooh, what a story! The characters typically Aiken, sassy, strong, kinky and quirky and full of emotions, a friendship for better or worse, through thick and thin, too precious to risk and a mission that might well be called impossible - not only for those two but for Annwyl too who has her own special challenge to meet. And she does like she always does. I enjoyed the book tremendously even though the cruelty of their war was hard to read for me at the moment, but the hilarious Riders made up for those scenes (how can you not love Kachka and her ladies?). Three quarters in I got a bit lost in the many plot lines intertwining and drifting apart but soon I was completely immersed again and cheered in the end. Now I want more!

I have always loved the books in this series, and have always counted on them making me laugh out loud in every chapter. This time, I giggled a few times but most of the humor felt forced and recycled. I enjoyed the relationship developing between Aiden and Brannie, but at this point we really need family trees because of the sheer number of characters. It's hard to keep track of how each one is tied to the others which is distracting when that's an ongoing part of the series. I even checked on the authors website for one, but no luck. I am still looking forward to more books in this series. It's nice to catch up on the rest of the characters as the series proceeds.

Bring the Heat is a terrific addition to the Dragon Kin series. I love this snarky epic fantasy/PNR hybrid of a series. You will enjoy this more if you’ve read the previous books but if you haven’t you should be able to enjoy this anyway. Branwen the Awful is a Caldewar dragon raised to the battlefield and she is damn good at it. Aidan the Divine was born royal and has a gift for dealing with difficult dragons which is good because Branwen is great at being difficult. This story takes us to the battlefield and the bedroom with stops along the way in Hell and beyond. This is a rollicking romance and adventure that will make you laugh out loud and gasp in amazement. I highly recommend.
