I was really enjoying this book. I had purchased it with several other books to save on shipping costs. By the time I started reading it however, I was already past the return option date. I got to the middle of the book and discovered that an entire section of the book was REPEATED, (about 60 pages) and then after those erroneous pages it picked up as though the previous section was correct. After I got over being extremely angry, I tried to get help from the store with it, but it was too late. So...........
I encourage all the store customers to check their books upon receiving them to ensure that they are constructed appropriately. Otherwise, you might be stuck with a useless book, and an unfinished story, just like I am.

Undeniably one of the most captivating books I've ever read. The author is an inspiration, the strength to share in-depth descriptive accounts of her journey through darkness is nothing less than heroic. I felt like my thoughts were being written right before my eyes, leaving my heart raw and full of hope. It's a must read.

It was of great help in understanding what goes on with a client of mine and gave me hope for her recovery. Easy to read and understand. I recommend this book to anyone who is borderline or who cares about one who is.

Exceptionally well written account of Rachel's life experiences with bpd. I could relate, at times I felt like she was writing my story. I came out of this feeling like there is still hope for me. Thank you Rachel.

I think people with BPD identify with this book best because they hear their own voice. If you have a BPD loved one, especially a BPD parent I'd advise against reading this book if you are looking for any insight. It might make you more depressed or trigger you. If you have read up on BPD enough, nothing is particularly insightful here. It is a disturbing self-aggrandizing, explicit account with a stark, shocking lack of remorse or awareness from the author. In the end with little to no elaboration other than the poetic turn of phrase, she becomes more functional. However to the non-BPD reader her rationalizations and manipulations remain as clear as day and it's shocking to think that neither her therapist nor her newly 'recovered' self noticed this in publication. Perhaps this simply was her peak recovery, to be functional and hold down a job and marriage.

I found this book insightful, truthful and painful. As a nurse, I understood the clinical issues but as a human at times I as aggregated by her reactions. I am so very glad her supports were so strong and consistent. If only others could be afforded a similar fate.
