Ended way too quickly, had a different story line and character development. Had some well developed descrptions of various aspects of the future imagined environment and the interaction between big government and the little guy. Lokking forward to more from this authori

Mr Kloos got it wright. Good solid military space opera combined with a futurist view and social commentary worthy of Vonnigut him self. never a dull Moment in this one . Wonderful follow up to His first . I'm looking foward to all his future novels

Yes!!! This was a fantastic quick read. Love how he continues to develop characters that are easy to pass over in the main storyline, but he gives them so much valuable depth that you wish you could have these kind's of stories on a lot of different characters. (Sgt. Farlon???)

Very much worth reading if you've gotten through the first three books.

If you enjoyed Marko's previous space yarns you will enjoy this entertaining novela. Tense, well written, and another dimension to a fascinating world. Costs the price of a coffee and lasts infinitely longer than said coffee could stay hot!

Out of the gate with an excellent first novel and then two superb shorts for followup. There goes my rule of thumb to skip the first novel and wait until new talent get its bearings. Marko Kloos is a perfect example of how the store self publishing is bringing some sharp people out of the woodwork. My thanks to Mr. Kloos and all those gifted indies for helping to make this a better world. Your efforts are appreciated. Thank you.

As I say, the story has interesting potential...but potential only, as it is way too short. I will make sure to investigate the number of pages in Marko's books in future, as I think this was not worth the money. I know it's only a few bucks, but hey, give me some more meat

This is a short story that looks at Corporal Jackson after the TAs shocking defeat in Detroit, and the loss of several of their team. She is not able to deal with the losses, and is suffering from Survivors Guilt as she is the only member of her unit that came away basically untouched, the rest either suffering severe injury or death.
As a result, she starts going stir crazy, and sets off to find those responsible for tearing up her unit.
She ends up side-tracked though, and on another mission, back to that area with another team, and this ends with an interesting mission.
So I read this out of sequence, reading book 3 first, and then discovered this one and read it. Obviously, this story was ok, but didn’t meet some expectations having read book 3. So if you really want to get the most out of this book, Absolution, make sure you read it before reading book 3 (Yeh, I can hear the Duh’s, obviously in the background!), but seriously, you will get a lot more out of the story.
As with his other books, Kloos likes to lead us on action packed stories, with several battles, some introspective characters who are doing some soul searching, but at the end of the day, these are what they are meant to be, good Military Sci-Fi that are fun to read and really enjoyable.
If you are into the series, this is worth the side-track to checkout and learn a bit about Lazarus and Jackson before book 3 (you know, in the right order…sigh…)

Good story, as I expected in this series. Well-written, suspenseful, but not necessarily predictable, even after having read the other books in the series.

Not too many typos, here's the ones I noticed (in case the author's looking to correct them) :
getting a sear on an eastbound transport
She walks in, sit down in front
or an I supposed
sweeps thecivvies

Even reading the original story from Grayson's point of view this story seems unfinished. How did Jackson eventually become part of the Lazarus Brigade? How long before she meets Grayson again? Where does she go to hide out until she meets Lazarus again? Really enjoyed the Frontline series but again this particular story needs finishing. Recommend reading the Frontline series before this book.

Enjoyable, engaging military sci-fi. Kloos writes characters you can care about within a plot that progresses fast enough to keep readers flipping pages (or swiping their Kindles' screen). The only real gripe I have concerns the physical size of the alien race incorporated into the storyline. All I'll say is: There's two main reasons why dinosaurs had an upper size limit. The first is related to the energy demands involved in moving a massive object. The second reason concerns the amount of time it takes to collect and ingest the amount of food/fuel required to support a huge biological system. That's why 80-100 ton creatures are considered the upper mass limit for terrestrial creatures.

It is always tough to express the meanderings in the mind of a combat veteran, but Kloos does a good job. The situations seems a bit more forced and rushed than his novels, but that is to be expected in a short story/novella. Some may be put off by the pace, particularly if the reader is not interested in the motivations and internal conflicts of the protagonist. Be warned that this is not and was never intended to be a pure action story.

If you enjoyed Terms of Enlistment, then this short story expands on the aftermath of the battle in the Detroit. If you haven't read Terms of Enlistment, this is a great introduction. Either way, its a great short story that can stand on its own while we await the follow-on installment to Terms of Enlistment.

I never quite got into this story and suddenly it was over? Guess i didnt realize it was a short story. No real plot, very good descriptive writing, I can't really say good or bad about it. Glad it was free. Too bad, I have read other stories by author and really liked them.

This story was well written The author has created characters whose lives and adventures are captivating. It was hard to put down. I read a lot of different books. If a story hooks me I can finish the book in a few days. This book hooked me!

I was disappointed because I didn't realize it was a short story. Just as I got into it it was over. I feel like I paid a full book price for a short story that leaves you hanging. Other than that the story as good

This book definitely feels incomplete, and rough in some spots. His narrative style, normal first-person present, changes to third person present. While it's not hard to transition to, it doesn't carry the narrative as well as in his other books. Still, not a bass read, and a nice interlude while we all wait for his next book.
