Fun, informative book. Really good introduction to programming and the Python programming language itself. Especially useful when read together with the author's online course. Not only for beginners is recommended , but also for advanced users who want to deepen their knowledge.

Very well written, if you are a beginner and have no previous programming experience; then my recommendation would be to enroll in Dr. Charles Severance class through University of Michigan. Book provides you step by step directions on each concept.

I have taken courses by this professor on Coursera in the past and his style of teaching and approach to subject work well for me. I am working with the text prior to starting the course to see where my weak spots may be to watch for solutions as the course unfolds. The next class is in October and I have learned that it helps to get recommended texts ahead of time as some run out and some help with pre-study. Recomment to anyone in general who might want to understand the language and everyday applications.

It is really for beginners. I started his free online course, but had to stop because of to much workload and out of town travel. But as soon as that goes back to normal, I'll try to restart the course. Yes, the book is available online as PDF and several other formats, but I love to have a printed book in hand to read without the computer screen in my face what I have for to many hours every day anyway.

This book does NOT display properly on my original e-ink Kindle. The text areas are all blacked out blocks. The images are ok though. Impossible to read. Looks fine on a backlit screen such as a phone or tablet. How about some love for the old Kindle man...then we're talking 5 stars.
