So much more then I expected. The perfect blend of humor, angst, real emotion and worry. It had some sweet happy times and some upset times but there is an HEA, and its not totally cheesy! Told from dual POV, I loved both characters and understood both their issues. The writing flowed so well there wasn't a dull moment even when we were in limbo with the characters. Great supporting characters. Hot, HOT sex, creative and interesting as well as panty melting! There was plenty sex but it just fit in right and never felt forced into the story. I won't plot recap because the blurb is right on. I can't wait to read Gray's story!

This was fun read. I loved loved loved Drew Baylor! He was so sweet and funny and just perfect. Anna on the other hand got on my nerves at times but in the end she redeemed herself. I liked how this was not your typical romance in the sense that both Drew and Anna just feel in love. Yeah, you could see the connection and it was fun but each was still holding back. Their banter and interactions together was so much fun to read. Although, there was lots of fun time there was still a lot of emotion in this story and it made my heart ache. This story was great packaged all bundled nicely.

I hope there is a novella down the line giving us more Anna Jones and Drew Baylor ;)

I am borrowing another posters phrase, but this is what NA should be. I couldn't agree more! Well written, with characters in which you become invested. While the author is clearly setting the stage for the other books in the series, the intros to the characters don't feel like a robotic fact sheet. (I want a book for Grey, please, please please) I love that our hero, Drew, isn't a slutty bad boy, just a lonely young man with the weight of a national championship on his shoulders. Our heroine, Anna, has abandonment issues and a few self image hurdles to overcome, but is there for Drew when it counts. All in all a great story, realistically told with solid characters. My only issue is that I have to wait until 2015 for the other two. BOO!

I loved these characters. They were well developed. Their thoughts and actions were so well written I felt like l was along side them as their story happened. The story had some minor grammar issues. Some people and situation were brought up in the book that I felt were resolved quickly or not quit. Like Henry and Terry. Terry was quickly resolved in the background and I don't think Henry (and Iris' story) was resolved at all. These story lines I don't think effected the H and h story but since these were mentioned it would have been great to see a better resolve. Even though I loved this story. Glad Drew and Anna got their HEA. I will be reading book 2 can't wait.

I highly recommend this book. It was very well written and it kept me interested until the very end. It also contains very hot steamy scenes (if you are into that, which I am).

Worth reading and I don't say that lightly. I have read several other books lately and I can honestly say that even though some of them have had great reviews, they do not reach the level of this book - Don't get me wrong, this was a great read, BUT not the best there is...still it will keep you well entertained and the story was very enjoyable! Be aware, this is a story about two college teens... they still display plenty of maturity, but we are not talking about 30 something characters. Enjoy!!!

The Hook Up
By Kristen Callihan
Five out of Five stars

Fantastic contemporary romance read!! I loved every minute of this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and characters with baggage. I loved the simplicity of the characters, yet complexity they tended to bring to each other. I also like the football elements in the book. It did not detract from the story but helped to explain characters and character flaws. The snarkiness and wit that I love in Kristen Callihan's books is solid and had me laughing out loud. I was happy to know that this is a series of books and I cannot wait to see what other characters she brings to life in the series. And though some of the characters are fleeting, I am hoping they will resurface in other books or have their own. As well as hoping Anna and Drew pop up in other books in the series.

This was a story of a frightened and fierce young college student and a confident quarterback. Anna Jones was a strong and intelligent young woman who enjoyed being with Drew Baylor but allowed her past insecurities deter her from happiness temporarily. I was glad that she came to her senses eventually and claimed her man. Drew started to lose faith and came to his senses as well once he realized his fear. This story is powerful, beautiful and emotional. Truly a great read

At first I thought stereotypical romance. Girl and boy meet, love at first sight, then inner manufactured anxiety keeps them apart till grand gesture changes everything = happily ever after. The thing is, I bought into it. The anxiety was real for them and the actions and scenes supported it enough that you believed there struggle. The character growth was steady and while the grand gesture/reconciliation was still there it was well done. I will be buying and reading the second one.

Very satisfying read. Really enjoyed the character development and writing style. I wish I could read faster as I wanted to gobble up this book in one sitting. It was great to read the story of Drew and Anna from both perspectives. I get that Anna feels intimidated to be dating the "hot guy" and feeling inferior due to her past experiences. She's a late bloomer and has insecurities that causes their relationship to stall making it seem impossible that they could have a HEA. I love how it all came together in the end. It did have some drawn out moments that seemed to take too long so why I didn't give it 5 stars. No cliffhanger thank goodness.

This was the book that keeps me all night reading. I just couldn't put it down until I finished reading. I loved everything about it. The heroine, the story line and of course Drew. Everybody should have a Drew in their life.
What i love most in a book ,it's when you just cant stop reading, when you experience everything the do,and when you feel everything what they feel. This book was like that for me.
Definitely one of my fav. books. I look forward to reading Gray story as well.

Absolutely Loved "The Hook Up".

2 weeks I couldn't find a book, NOTHING.... was grabbing me and BAM, just like that you've ended my book funk. Thank You!

This is a must read. It had outstanding characters and a wonderful story. I fell head over heels not only for Drew but Anna as well. She was not a typical heroine to me and OMG Gray.. I can't wait for his book. Hell, I would love to read more about Iris, George and Dex... Like, give them all to me please. Anyway,

Well Done Ms. Kristen Callihan

Omg I love sports books.......and Baylor is just the man I was looking for.........Anna could not have ran away from his all consuming love if she has tried.....which she did, but it just did not work. This was a very sweet and sexy book and the main reason I love it is because it could actually happen....I love real life story lines. I mean also it's got a hot sexy jock who likes to talk dirty and likes to get it on all the time and plus he is sooooo sweet and caring and he loves his women.

My two favorite hobbies reading a good romance and watching football. So this series is perfect for me. In my mind Anna is one of those characters I take an immediate dislike to but not this time. Her character is so well written you can't help but cheer her on. Oh and Drew just skyrocketed on my list of book boyfriends. He is flat out amazing. The story is one that grasps your attention and next thing you know it's hours later and in the end you just smile because the time was so well spent.

Drew and Anna both have strong reactions to each other when they meet for the first time. Only one of them is honest with themselves about their reaction.
So starts The story of Drew and Anna.
Drew knew exactly what he wanted and he wasn't shady or manipulative about it. He stayed the good guy the whole time.
Anna struggled with her self worth. That was hard for her to overcome her past to feel worthy of her future.

Anna and Drew are interesting. They have rules about their hookup, which means, of course, neither will be able to forget the other and will become obsessed with making a relationship out of a one night stand.

The twist to this is, Drew is the one pursuing Anna, instead of Anna being the one who can't let him go. This is a great first book to the Game on series, but they simply get better and better with each release.

I absolutely loved this book! Like hands down one of the best books I've read this year. Anna and Drew were a great couple and I'm glad I choose this book. I think the only thing I didn't like was her friend Iris. I felt she was useless to the story and a bitch a certain times because of how insensitive she was. Maybe it's just me but Anna could have done without her friendship. Also this book contains excerpts of the next TWO books from the series and I'm so excited I can barely contain myself and my debit card as I write this. Looking forward to Ivy and Gary!!

This book is hot, sensual, witty, intelligent! Did I say sensual and hot! A lot of intellectual foreplay but lots of the good stuff. Oh, how how this author stole my heart first with Anna's wicked awesome taste in music. I grew into my teen years listening to a certain band with the lead singer named Susie. It carried me through college and in the early 90's. As English Lit. Major, I fell in love with the words and quotes of this book. Drew Lawson is now the book friend to beat. He even pushed Mr. Darcy off his pedestal! Loved it and cannot wait for Gray's Story and some updates on our Beloved Drew and his love the vixen Anna Jones! 10++ stars!

Wow! I've not read this author before, and picked this on a whim, but am glad I did. This book has it all!

The great character development and clever banter between them will have you turning pages and not wanting to stop. There is so much chemistry between Baylor and Jones and their story will grab you and not let go. Kristen Callihan does an amazing job of her dialogues from the football team. It's impressive how she brings these characters to life.

Don't miss this story! I can't wait to read more from this writer.

This book was really enjoyable. The chemistry between the two is insane, and I absolutely loved Drew. He wasn't your typical jock who is afraid of commitment, this time it was the heroine:Anna. I liked that the author presented a strong male character who is kind but also has flaws. Loved the book, and it had plenty of heat.

The banter between the two main characters, Drew and Anna, had me hooked right away. This was such a witty, sexy, and fun read. I couldn’t help but to feel for Anna throughout the book because I felt like I could relate to what was driving her to think the way she did when it came to Drew and their “relationship”. So happy that I finally read this and looking forward to reading the other books in this series!

Kristen Callihan wrote this book with pure raw emotions! I can't honestly remember the last time I got emotionally choked up by two characters interacting and falling in love! The sports element brought in drama, fear, joy, and elation and she whips all of this feelings together to create a love story that you genuinely route for!

Wow! I stumbled across this book when I was surfing Facebook and saw a pimp blog. So glad I did! What a fantastic read. I laughed my head off through this book. The sassy conversations between Drew and Anna made me giggle and also some convos with Drew and his friends made me laugh out loud. The off the charts heat between Drew and Anna is fabulous and well written. Absolutely loved this book from start to finish. So glad I found this author because I am desperate to read more from her.

This was the book EVERYONE was telling me to read. With such high expectations, I was sure I would be disappointed. Ummm...nope. This book was wonderful. It had everything I love in a good book...hot alpha male, football (Actual accurately portrayed football) a likable (borderline lovable) female main character and a great refreshing story line. Drew Baylor is as HOT and ADORABLE as the come (Come...see what I did there). This should be on everybody's TBR.

This book was amazing. I loved everything about. The story, the characters, their banter, their fighting. The banter and flirting between Anna & Drew was so cute, it was fun and just made me smile. Their fights were harsh but honest and they got through to the other side of them. It made me laugh out loud, I she'd some tears, it tore my heart out and then left me feeling happy again. Anna was fierce such a great match for Drew. The writing was intense and full of raw emotion... Great great read!!! I can't saw enough great things about this book.

Excellent! I resented doing housework because it kept me from reading more! The characters are developed and the romance is hot. This is a smart read, a fantastic romance that is way more than just a dumb alpha male who swears every other word. I did get a little frustrated with Anna and her issues but liked how the author resolved the situation. I didn't want the book to end, and was glad that the second book in the series was ready to go. KC--when's the third book coming out?!?!? If you like Penny Reid, Alice Clayton, or Christina Lauren, you will love this book!

I didn't enjoy the firsts chapters of this book... I mean, it wasn't bad, but it just felt awkward. Good thing I kept reading because I enjoyed this book a lot! Even though is kind of long, I never got tired of the story. I loved Anna and Drew so much! It felt little bit like a Penny Reid book (which I LOVE). I'm starting book 2 in this series. Let's see how it goes!

this book had it all! great characters, fantastic chemistry and an in-depth storyline! there's so much story packed into this book I could not put it down! you can pretty much divide the book into two..... before they were together and after.... half way through you pretty much know where the storyline is goin but it didn't matter cause it took nothing away from it! that's my only con from this book and that ain't bad really!

I cannot wait for Gray s story I just know it will be just as good!

An extremely enjoyable book. Both main characters were likeable and this was a true love story. New Adult romances these days tend to make the main characters sooo damaged that by the end of the story you either hate one or the other of them or you just hope they would get professional help. But this novel, even though it had its drama, and the main characters had their "parent/childhood" issues, they weren't damaged beyond repair. This was truly a very enjoyable book.I am looking forward to other books in this series.

Again second book I've read recently that the male lead knew exactly what he wanted from the girl and went about making her fall in love. I loved it in this book as the first again refreshing not to have wait forever for the relationship to happen, but to have the relationship and work thru the quirks. That just seems more real to me, even though I read to escape. Loved it worth picking up!

Drew is the star quarterback. Anna is just a girl, keeping her head down and making it through college. When Drew sits next to her in class, sparks immediately fly.

First time reading this author, enjoyed her writing style and character development.

This author is truly talented as far as taking the reader into the moment and her descriptions of feelings. Also, Drew's characterization was very well done. He was easy to love. However, the heroine seemed contrived, like she was trying too hard to be snarky and cool. The biggest problem with the book, though, was that it had no plot, just a lot of angst and sex that got repetitive after a while.

Sweet love story with a happy ending. I really enjoyed this story. I loved Drew & Anna. Drew was always easy to love. I didn't understand how Anna could deny him for so long. Yeah he made a mistake when they first met but that could have nerves. I liked how Drew took his time with Anna .Anna was messed up for no reason if anything Drew should have been the one with issues. The editing was good and it had may one typo. Sex scenes were hot. I loved Drew' s friends. Anna's friends were OK.

I loved everything a about this book. Anna was unlikable at times but she made a great comeback. Drew was absolute perfection. The way the author drew me in to the deep emotions of the characters was not like any a lot of the books that I read. Very few have that gift where you feel the character and feel a deep connection with them. I have read football romances before and I enjoy this genre and if you have a weakness for a sexy football player, Drew will steal your heart as well!

This book was different. Drew was in love with Anna from day 1. They had so much in common and her insecurities almost screwed up their relationships. Their booty calls were hilarious and it was so obvious that it was more than that. I wish it was a little longer even though it was 41 chapters because I wanted to read what else happened to them. I hope there is another book or a novella on this couple.

I was actually pleasantly surprise by this one. I loved the role reversal of both Anna and Drew, in which Drew was pining over and revealing his feelings to Anna, and Anna was too afraid to give into her feelings to Drew because of her past fears in high school. The sex scenes were off the charts hot. Also when Anna finally allowed Drew to kiss her on the lips that was by far the most passionate and sexiest kiss I've read. A great read. Look forward to reading Gray's story.

The feels in this book! ....this book is... Just so romantic! The story line gives takes us deep inside a love story of two people who know they are it for each other , only they have to conquer their fears to have each other. Both Anna and drew have their faults and are very imperfect. But, together they are perfect. This book was the sweetest, most romantic book ever and the steamy scenes (so steamy!) just compliment the story! Read this book!

An enjoyable college romance read. Anna doesn't do relationships, her head is down as she aims to finish her final year. Drew is a quarterback star in the football team and famous in campus. There is an immediate attraction but Anna gives off 'no way' vibes even after a night together.

I enjoyed it immensely to 80% but found it dragged a little for the final 20%. The characters were well written and developed. Would recommend.

This is my first Kristen Callihan books, and will not be my last. I loved the humor and the tenderness and the angst. She created these two characters, who were slightly damaged, and needed to mend together. Drew, he loved so fiercely and wore his heart on his sleeve. I couldn't help but fall in love with him. I am really looking forward to reading more of this series.

Buy this book. you will not be disappointed. I was actually sad to see it end. it was such a well developed storyline, some parts predictable, but the chemistry between these two was overwhelming. Friendship, football, hot hot hot steamy scenes, and watching a love grow even deeper are only a few of the things this book offers. Great supporting characters as well. a very well written story --I can't say enough! except...can't wait for the second book!

I was assuming this would include random hookups that turned into more. But I think it's really a "love at first sight" story and even though there is a hookup, it was long anticipated.

I thought the story was very good and wasn't too smutty, like some are or the titled implied. I found myself rooting for them and appreciated that they didn't cheat on one another.

I will definitely read the subsequent series.

I picked this book up because I needed some light read and found myself completely captivated in it. Anna's and Drew story pulled me from very first page. The storyline simply flu and before I knew it I found myself turning pages like possess person not reading fast enough and in the same time reading too fast. I wanted to savor it, enjoy it. She did fantastic job with it and I simply can't wait for Grays story.

I completely loved this book! The story is so sweet I've already read it twice. I had never read Kristen Callihan before and didn't know what to expect. What I discovered was an author that developed her characters so completely that I felt I knew them personally. Anna and Drew, each flawed in unique ways, must overcome these flaws and the insecurities because of them to allow themselves to trust. It also helps if you love college football ? I have already read the second book in the series and am anxiously awaiting the 3rd.
