I've read numerous post-apocalyptic books and have never left a review. I thought this series was great and felt I needed to let others know that this series is worth the money! I also really enjoyed Konkoly's The Perseid Collapse but for whatever reason felt closer to these characters. Really a great story and folks you get to know and care about!

Despite some serious editorial issues, I am giving this book a 5 because it is a great story. Excellent plot and characters and kept me turning th pages. I recommend doing your best to ignore the grammar problems and occasional typo...it is worth it.

This book opens shortly after a genetically engineered virus has been accidentally released killing all but 2 percent of the world's population. The remaining survivors realize that they will need to get out of the cities if they are to escape the devastation that has been left behind.
Written in multiple POV’s. The post-apocalyptic world of this book is explored through the story of each survivor’s journey as they battle the environment, wild life and dangerous survivors. They slowly group together as their paths intertwine.
More so than many of the post-apocalyptic stories that I have read lately, this book examines the human side of the survivors lives as they form new relationships and accept new positions/roles (guardian, leader, and mentor).
I enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to book two of the series.
I recommend this book to readers/lovers of post-apocalyptic stories.

I’ve read quite a bit of post-apocalyptic / end of the world fiction over the past few years, and after a while most of them (to me) start to have the same plot line with similar characters and events. This one has some of the same characteristics, yet takes a different twist: rather than a Prepper, survivalist, or former military man as the main character the author weaves a scenario that focuses in on a regular man that takes on several children and a dog who survive a viral plague.
The author has an engaging writing style that makes you feel as if you are right there in the middle of the scenes he describes, and I didn’t find myself calling “bull” as I know other fellow post-apocalyptic fans sometimes do during these types of novels. I stayed up rather late one night in order to finish it as it was engaging.
The ending was rather abrupt, but came at the natural conclusion of part of one of the scenes in the book, and that’s when I woke up and realized this was Book 1 in a series; I’m looking forward to continuing the story to see where the author’s imagination will take it.
I originally picked this up for free during a Kindle promotion vs. its normal price of $3.99 I certainly received more than $3.99 in entertainment value. If you like post-apocalyptic fiction, I would recommend you give this one a try.

Just finished this book and went right to the store to download the second book of the series. Well written, with characters you just fall in love with, including the dog! Can't wait to settle in with the second book.

This is a post-apocalyptic story whose premise could definitely be real but whose execution was a bit weak.
The China Pandemic was a weaponized virus that got away from the Chinese and ended up killing 98% of the world's population. The 2% that are left are either immune but carriers, or they haven't been exposed to the virus yet.
Graham used to be a math professor living near Seattle but has lost his whole family to the virus including his pregnant wife.
He ends up gathering orphaned young people to him and heading to his family's cabin near the Skagit River in the mountains.
There were just too many instances in this story that felt clumsy or rather bizarre. Also character development was minimal and dialogue was stilted. Oh, I did like the dog Sheriff.
But I've bought this whole series to date and I'm going to finish it and see if it gets better. I'm off to read CASCADE PREPPERS, the second book in the series. I would have rated this book at 2 1/2 stars if I could have.

Pretty darned good read.
This one starts with the Chinese creating a virus. A virus they lost control of. A virus that killed the Chinese and made its way to the rest of the world. Those that are immune to it don't die. Most though aren't immune.
Hyun-Ok is a Korean American and is dying of the disease but her son is immune. Her son Bang is five years old and Ok is trying to find someone to take him and raise him.
She's seen some who are still alive but wouldn't trust her son with them.
She's been watching a man named Graham as he buried his loved ones. He is the man she wants to leave Bang with.
Graham has already buried his wife and unborn child, his Mother and is now waiting for his Father to pass.
Grahams Father was ex military, Marine Corp to be exact and no stranger to guns. He taught Graham how to hunt and fish at their cabin in the Cascades. His Dad's training and wisdom will serve Graham well in the coming days.
Graham is a Math professor and hates guns. He used to think they were the root of all violent acts involving them. He blamed easy access to guns for the various tragedies commited with them and railed against the wars fought abroad. No way would he ever carry one. That thinking has gone out the window in this new world where there are those who will take what you have and kill you to get it.
There are also feral dogs all over. They are the abandoned pets who's owners are dead. They are a real threat along with the wild animals who now come into cities and towns to eat the dead who's bodies are everywhere.
Graham agrees to take Bang even though he's never been a parent and really has no idea what to do with a five year old. His Mother then dies.
Graham soon finds out raising a child, especially one he doesn't know, is no easy thing.
Marcy and Macy are fifteen year old twins. They are blond and blue eyed and their Mother has died. They decide that they need to drive to the apartment of their Father who is divorced from Mom. Neither one knows how to drive but figure it can't be that hard.
On the way they pass a police car with a dead officer inside. There is also a police dog. a German Shepherd, in the back seat. Sheriff is his name. Macy and Marcy decide Sheriff will go with them.
Almost to their Dads place they run afoul of a man named Compos.
So begins one pretty darned good read.
This one has Graham, Bang, Macy, Marcy, Sheriff, the cabin in the Cascades, a woman namd Tala, an elderly man named Ennis who's an ex police officer with worlds of experience, a group of preppers, the preppers who help Graham and his crew, the preppers who can't mingle with Graham and his group of immunes because they carry the virus and would infect the preppers, a man named Dalton who knows Graham, another group of immunes who steal and would kill for the woman in Grahams group, a damned handy guy named Sam and his daugher Addy, a kid named Mark, wolves, bears and one pretty damned good read.
Five Stars.

The characters in Graham's Resolution (Book 1) are fleshed out emotionally and physically, and their interactions are very human. There is a reasoned mix of pain and suffering under the circumstances, with the characters showing qualities which make the reader root for them to succeed. I'm looking forward to reading the next segment, to see if this series can compete with the many other post-apocalyptic novels in intensity. The 1st volume has not been fast paced, focusing more on the building up of the focus survivor group.

I enjoyed the story and thought it was well written. The story held no real surprises and felt similar to a lot of novels,of this type, that I have read. A couple of the characters, Bang's mother and the Crotchety old man, did stand out for me and I will remember them.

The China Pandemic is a nice beginning to a potentially fantastic series. The main characters are real, no special forces training, no over prepped leaders, no want-a-be politicians. Just real people trying to survive and thrive.

Sadly, this book reads like a first draft. Why sadly? Because the story and characters have potential. Of course there are the predictable good guys and bad guys who have survived the virus. This author also added prepper characters, who have also survived, but not because they are immune to the virus but because they huddled down in a bunker with arms and food. There are, however, way too many holes in the story. I hope the author has found a good editor and proofreader.

Those that survive as carriers and those that survive as non carriers must try and live in a now primitive world and see how they can get along. Takes place is my state if Washington,a great and absorbing read!

if you think about h1n1 flue virus and ebola, the story is possible.
I liked it very much; what would we do in this situation? at my age 67,I would just have to sit and drink good old jack aand float away.
a good read.

Originally I purchased this book because I was bored and have read the vast majority of post-apocalyptic fiction on Kindle. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised!
The characters are well developed, there is action but not too much of it, and the book isn't filled with brand-name descriptions of every tool and weapon ad nauseum. I really liked the premise of the story and enjoyed reading every word - the plot keeps pulling you in with every page.
Since I just purchased the book this week I probably have a "more edited" version than some previous reviewers mention; even so, there were a few typos and misuse of the apostrophe, but not enough to detract from the enjoyment of reading the story. As a retired newspaper editor, I spot errors very quickly and have often stopped reading a book when there are too many mistakes to allow me to immerse myself in the story. This was not the case here and I congratulate Ms. Shaw for a great read.

I LOVED both books in this series. However there are FAR TOO MANY typos and grammatical errors. I had to fight my urge to make mental corrections. But, if you can ignore that, it is a really great read.

Normally don't read this genre but decided to take a chance and I was very happily surprised. It hooked me right away and I read all 3 books in the series one after the other. I just hope there are more to come!

First, the author has shared a great apocalyptic story. A flu-type virus has come from China, killing all but 2% of the population. Those who are left are divided into those who have been exposed and survived, and those who have managed to not be exposed, but remain fearful of such a thing happening.
The book does a good job of staying out of a global view of things. Instead, the first half of the book is spent with individuals meeting and becoming a group, with Graham the leader, and then trying to get out the big city without being killed. I like the real-life dangers, ones that one wouldn’t anticipate. I also liked the fact that the characters were focused on daily needs such as what to eat and where to go to the bathroom. It made it very real. The author also does a good job of helping the reader like each of the characters.
That’s the good news. Even though the the store page said it was completely reedited in 2013, I found the editing pretty bad. Punctuation and grammar were a problem throughout. There were formatting problems. In addition there were some plausibility problems. One problem that didn’t have to do with editing was the fact that much of the first chapter or so was spent in exposition: I found myself being told the story rather than living it. The author took a very good idea for a story, but I thought had a hard time delivering it professionally.

This was a very enjoyable read. The one thing stopping this from a five star rating, was the author's misuse of certain colloquialisms, and a belief that the woods in the Northwest are full of wolves.
