This is a great book to introduce counting and numeracy with young children. I add rubber ducks to the bath and incorporate many math concepts using the ducks as manipulatives. It starts with the book and ends in the water.

Anything by Eric Carle is a great book. Wonderful author and the Children seem to love all of his books!

The illustrations are great and it is an easy read for preschoolers. The pictures are bright and can hold a toddlers attention. The classes that I have read this book to loved it!

My grandchildren love this book so much that they wore out our first copy and it was a sturdy board book. Our only disappointment was that the original copy had a real little rubber duck on the last page that would squeak. This one did not have that special feature.

This book is adorable! I have purchased this book 3 times. My 17 month grandson loves it. He touches each duck on the cover as if he is counting them. The illustrations are wonderful and the squeaking sound at the end adds to the fun!

My 3 year old sons love this book. They especially like to press the button at the end of the book to make the rubber duck squeak! In the usual inimitable Eric Carle style, there are bright and colorful collage illustations that bring the story to life.

I think this (hardcover version) book is whimsical, fun, and poetic. My 5 year old already loves Eric Carle books and signed this out from her school library. She was so excited to read it and look at all of the colorful and creative illustrations but when we found the surprise at the end - a duck that has a real quack with the press of a button- she was elated! She has already begged for a copy of her own!

This book is wonderful for so many reasons. First, it's about rubber ducks. Second, it by Eric Carle. Third, it's a counting book. Fourth, it's an ocean book. Fifth, it's a book about traveling. Sixth, it's a book about adoption. And finally, it's a rubber duck book by Eric Carle. It's hard to imagine anything better than that, except, maybe that this book was part of the Kohl's Cares Book.

My son received this book for Easter. He didn't get past the title page with the numbered ducks; he was pretty happy with that page. I, however, have read this book when I used it for library Story Time. Kids do love the counting-to-ten part, but they also really enjoy all the directions the little ducks go, their adventures, and what they encounter.

The artwork, of course, is spectacular. Eric Carle has a unique gift for painting by subtraction as much as by addition: Every brush stroke that removes the paint from the canvas is just as eloquent as every brush stroke that puts it on.

Not our favorite book. I really want to like this book. It's a cute story and the illustrations are beautiful, however, the way it is written leaves the reader tongue tied. Both my husband and I get tripped up all the way through this book. We end up telling our own version as we show our toddler the pictures. We don't read the repeated lines which are unnecessary, and instead of reading, for example, "The fourth little rubber duck drifts south," we say, "The fourth one drifts south." It just gets us all tongue tied. So, not our favorite, but our daughter enjoys it so we keep it around.

As an Early Childhood professional I am always looking for goods books rich in language, story and pictures. This book is one of Eric Carle's best books. I am a teacher/owner of Oceanside Pre-Kindergarten a unique Literacy based program to help children prepare for Kindergarten in today's intense learning environment in formal education.

I purchased this because the theme related to my school.

Ten Rubber Ducks ia an Award Winning book that is rich in language, includes math, beautiful art work and based on a true story with a big surprise for the children at the end of the story - the rubber duck squeaks.

I allow children to borrow my books and this one everyone wanted to take home over and over again. I have purchased another for a friend whom borrowed it and her four children loved it.

It is truly a book I will purchase as a gift for children on my gift list. I love to see a child's face light up and smile to a good story and Eric Carle can tell a story with both words and pictures to delight us all.

Inspired by a true event, Carle takes the adventures of 10 rubber ducks and creates a wonderfully illustrated children's story. The style of the artwork is consistent with his other books, my favorite being The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Repetitious lines create an almost poetic nostalgia, but I am somewhat offput by the electronic squeaker at the end of the story. It doesn't sound much like a rubber duck, and is thankfully not too loud (otherwise it could get very annoying in the hands of a child). Why someone chose to add a cheap gimmick to a well done, fantastically illustrated story is beyond me.

We are big Eric Carle fans and surprisingly, my daughter likes this book even more than The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which has been a long standing favorite at our house. This book is always checked out at our library and as soon as we check it out somebody else puts a hold on it. Since this book is our daughter's absolute favorite, I guess it's time to fork over the 15.00 dollars and get our daughter her own copy.

Even though our 2 year old daughter is just learning to count and doesn't know her left from her right she is fascinated by every page in this book which introduces numerous concepts in a natural eye-catching way. Her favorite part, of course, is the quaking duck at the end of the book (there is a button that makes a quaking sound when pressed).

As a home schooling mother of 4 and former pre-school teacher, I highly recommend this book.

One word... entertainment! Why? 'Cause its colorfully artistic to view, poeticly delightful to read aloud, & the surprise squeaker at the end is even audibly appealing! What more could you want, all conveniently packed into an affordable children's book by a sensational children's author?!? My daughters & I adore it... again & again & again! ~rhonda

Ten rubber ducks experience different adventures when they are released from the hold of a cargo ship during a storm. The text is limited to the top of the page and is large enough to be non-threatening to an early reader. The color pictures use bright colors to share this true story with the readers. Children will be drawn to the pictures, and adults will be drawn to the true stories.

For those who collect Eric Carle's books for children or anyone who loves great children's picture books....10 Little Rubber Ducks is so cute and my one year old loves the "squeak" at the end. For teachers, it is perfect for numbers, counting, etc.

Highly recommended!!!

This book is simply not that great. The rubber ducky sound at the end is cute but nothing to applaud. The art is borderline awful and, while the story behind the story is cute, it just did not come out great as a children's book. I must confess, I am not an Eric Carle fan though, with the exception of The Very Busy Spider, which I enjoyed. To put it simply, don't bother. The two redeeming qualities of this book are 1) it teaches counting well (the first rubber duck, the second rubber duck) and it exposes the kids to animals you do not see every day (octupus, flamingo, pelican).

I purchased this book for my three year old grandson. He loved it! We read it several times together and he giggled and had a wonderful time looking at the wonderful pictures. Another Eric Carle master piece!!!
