"An Infatuation" was a pleasant surprise to read with believable characters and storyline. Elise doesn't expect to like her husband's boss let alone fall in love with her. The story moves along at a good pace and the ups and downs between the characters are realistic. What is also good is that the author doesn't weaken the characters resolve to work through the obvious hiccups on the way. They don't become snivelling and irritating which does happen in books with similar themes. I also agree with a previous reviewer that the size of the book was also gratifying. Worth reading and looking forward to some more from this author.

There are so few writers that immediately captured me with their phrasing, how they lay out a scene, express emotion through their characters, and their superb storytelling abilities, and Ms Lyndon is one of those special writers who did all that to me. From the beginning of this book, where Elise first sets her eyes on Juliana, it reminded me strongly of Patricia Highsmith's novel, `The Price of Salt' (also called Carol) when Therese first sees Carol and her world is changed forever. So few writers have fully captured the eroticism of when another woman is struck down by love from just one glance at another woman.
I really enjoyed this book, despite the contrived `break up drama' in the middle of the story and some typographically, formatting and grammatical errors throughout the story (I also occasionally had trouble determining who was talking to whom based on this author's unusual paragraph structure.) However, upon my finishing this story, I immediately went back to the beginning to savor this read again, I loved it that much. This 'book' is a definite keeper and I greatly look forward to reading more from Jennifer Lyndon. I want to add that this is the first self-published 'direct to Kindle' story that was not only entertaining but fairly well-written. I've read over 50 'Kindle only' published books (because of they are often inexpensive) and most of them are short, poorly written pieces of smut or just plain terrible -- this one isn't and is among my favorite books on my Kindle.
This story was an absolute delight and keeper and I look forward to this author publishing more stories and hopefully Ms Lyndon finds good beta editor next time.

The beginning was a sexy whirlwind which begged me to read further. As you get into the thick of the book it's hard to put down. I needed to know what was going to happen. Kept me up till way later than I should have be en one night because I needed to know if things were going to be ok.
Out of several books I've read in th his category lately this is the best book I've read. Most of te others were short stories so it was nice to have a novel. Great read.

Loved that this book was more realistic about timing and fragility of emotions. It's not always easy and our emotions play a large part in making correct or incorrect decisions. Loved this book and its probably why so many others have rated it. Buying books you always look to see how much feedback a book is given. That so many people have related to the story and responded will mean others will buy it based on the reaction alone. Fantastic book written by a fantastic author. Download it now you won't be disappointed!

This is a wonderful book. For anyone who wonders if there is another person on earth who knows how it feels to come out of the closet, read this book. Such a wonderful love story that isn't at all fantasy but deals with everyday issues.

Although the writing is overall functionally sound, I have a lot of problems with this book. It starts with the main character Elise (who seems quite happily married) discussing how much she despises the woman that took her husband's promotion from him. Then she meets the woman (Juliana) and becomes almost immediately obsessed with her. From the title you think "infatuation-ok so it's probably a pretty intense attraction going on." But this is pure obsession. And I would suggest an unhealthy one at that. I had a hard time understanding what exactly they saw in each other to make such an instant connection believable. The characters did have excellent chemistry, the author is good at writing that.
However, the speed at which these two go to calling each other "honey" and "baby" in front of everyone they know is quite alarming. Also, Juliana is emotionally immature at best. She has tantrums, reacts defensively a lot, and cries and stomps off when she doesn't get her way. Honestly, I contemplated borrowing my wife's DSM to determine if this character could be classified as a sociopath (I believe she is). I know that sounds kind of crazy, but let me tell you why I think so.
Everything up to approximately 75% of the book made me keep looking back to make sure that this was in fact written as a romance. I honestly thought it was a thriller and that someone would be murdered at some point. The arguments they had sounded like arguments one would have with an emotionally unstable person. As an example, at one point Juliana asks Elise to go with her to San Francisco to pick up some stuff from her parents' house. They leave the next day for what they say will be a week. When they get there, there is some seriously weird conversations involving the mother, who photographed her daughter being put into deadly situations when she was a child (this is never brought up again, indescribably). Juliana then says they need to go to the vacation home and just be together for a few days, after being really creepy and irrational about a bike she bought for Elise in San Francisco WEEKS ago (wait-but didn't she JUST ask her to come to San Fran? Yes, because she's manipulative and creepy). Eventually they return home THREE WEEKS LATER without giving any word to her husband and children, who she left in Colorado.
I kept with the book but by the end, I honestly did not want these characters to end up together. I didn't like how Juliana talked to Elise even when they were on good terms (don't even get me started on the 'cabbage incident'). I kept yelling at my e-reader "No! Don't do it! She's going to make furniture out of your skin!"
Think I'm being overly dramatic? Yeah, I probably am. But I think I would have liked this book a lot more if it had been a thriller instead. That, I would have understood.
On the plus side, since the character of Elise showed fairly good growth throughout, the author shows potential. I just think this book missed the mark in a lot of areas. So why didn't I give it 1 star? the store tells me 1 star means "I hated it." I didn't "hate" it as a thriller. Does that make sense?

This was a great story. Well paced with fully developed characters. Yes, the dialogue format was a little hard to follow but after the first couple of chapters I was used to it. Couldn't wait to see how this one ended but tried pacing myself because I knew I wouldn't want it to be over. This is one of those books where I'll really miss the characters. New favorite author.

This is one for those that married and had children because it was the proper or necessary thing to do. Only, life doesn't always turn out the way you planned and someone comes along to open your heart and cause you to tailspin. This book covers what can be a hard choice for many people, but life happens. I look forward to reading other works by this author.

This was one of most pleasant surprise I've stumbled upon in a long time. This story kept me wondering and wishing for a happy ending. For a while I worried that the story was going in another direction, but the author bought it all together wonderfully. Well worth the price. I will be reading this one again.

To list this book in the category Gay and Lesbian is to do it a disservice, as this will not allow it to reach the much wider readership which it deserves. While the plot is centred on a lesbian infatuation, the main focus of this book is the effect of a thunderbolt and all-consuming infatuation on the two people involved and the world in which they move. The fact that the attractioin is between two women rather than an heterosexual infatuation shines a different light on the subject and made me reflect on the matter In a new way.
The author takes the difficult route of telling the story from the single point of view of the central figure and in my view succeeds very well. This is because her main character is believable and the other characters are very skilfully drawn .
This is a compelling read - almost a psychological thriller - which takes the reader inside the mind of an intelligent and sensitive woman hit by an emotional earthquake. Highly recommended!

I loved the way the character's lives morphed from heterosexual to gay. Both straight women being attracted to each other was interesting. I enjoyed Lise's relationship with her kids, friends and her lover. The book was well written and I would recommend it to my friends.

The book was phenomenal. Besides the fact that its relatable to anyone. It takes you through a real life love story; the good, the bad, the ugly, and the astonishing parts. It was very well written and I didn't have to stop because it was all grammatically correct ( so rare these days with books). Its a reread now over and over again. I cannot wait to read more by this author.

I gave this book only four stars because there was so much DRAMA throughout.
I liked the length of the book, even though I thought it should be over about half way through. I almost put it down, but realized that it was a turning point and a new beginning for Elise. So I continued reading and got hooked again. Good length.
Elise was a married woman that become infatuated with Juliana. Her obsession was was overwhelming and ultimately caused her to leave her husband of many years. But it just wasn't that simple, there were MANY twists and TURNS that made the book interesting. I really didn't know how it was going to end.
I loved how the characters grew throughout the book, including thier friends.
Good story, I would recommend for a weekend.

The naked emotion was what initially caught my attention. Well written and described. The tension was amazing and drawn out to the point of my slamming my Kindle down and moving to a different room. Very well done, Jennifer. I'd like to see more.

This book is all surface, no depth. Straight woman goes to party, is immediately infatuated with a new woman in town, despite being married to a man for a long, long time. At the party, Elise does not hide her attraction (Hello!?! Husband's co-workers and catty wives all around you.) The author does not explain why Elise never seems worried about her attraction to Julianna, and does not offer a scene explaining why Elise does not give a second thought to her husband. Then, Elise takes off for a one week vacation with this woman and arrives back home after 3 weeks of adulterous sex. And when her husband complains, she simply says "You're right--I want out" Then, the author goes wandering off into the next scene, which has Elise convincing her lover to sneak into the house and have sex with her while her husband sleeps in another room. Maybe that's a bad idea. I kept thinking "Does this woman have no common sense?"

This story was interesting. As I read the book. I found myself nervous with butterflies about Jules and the main character. I was very pleased with the ending. There were lots of troubles on the way. I also want to be a vegetarian after reading this book. :)... worth it and I recommend this book.
