I received the first book in the series, Soul Summoner, as a free download for #BV16. Slow to get around to reading it but, once I started, I was completely hooked. I bought Siren the very night I finished Summoner, even though I desperately needed to sleep.
I list this book as having a steady pace. Make no mistake, its a fast paced steadiness. Elicia just keeps flinging one reveal and another surprise at you. While I can typically predict what will happen in a story, I was thrown off by what did happen several times. Ok, even the very ending had my head spinning.
I read the first book in about three days (because I was swamped) but it took me less than 24 hours to get through Siren. Just don't plan to do anything other than read. Seriously. If you're a parent, have frozen meals ready to go because you will not want to cook and burn the food (burnt rice is awful btw).
Do read Soul Summoner first. You'll love the characters so much more. Also, Siren starts right where Summoner ends, but it will make sense faster and clarify how all the characters fit together if you read Summoner first.

I have quickly become an Elicia Hyder fan and The Siren just fortified my standing. The Siren expands on the major characters and takes you right into a new world of mystery and intrigue. It teases and taunts answering some questions while presenting you with new ones.

I can barely wait for the next book!

No disappointment with this second book in the Soul Summoner series, "The Siren." If possible, the pretzel-like twists in the plot with angels, hybrid angels and fallen angels kept me moving licit-split through the book. The three major characters "leap from the pages" and they are likable and real even with odd genetics. Sloan, Warren and Nate wade through crazy events and come out swinging even though beat up. And that is all the story I am going to state. Good story, not the usual paranormal story and no drawn out sexcapades (though the characters are not prudish). Looking forward to the third in the series. Oh, and BTW, Team Warren here -- if any one is counting.

Well written and very enjoyable. The characters are all interesting and well developed and the main character Sloan, is hilarious. The plot was very original and creative. I can't wait to read the next one.

I hate Elicia Hyder. She always makes me cry. Really cry. I can count on at least one moment in her books when I am reduced to tears. I LOVE Elicia Hyder. I can count on, in every single one of her books, being completely entertained and engrossed beginning to end. The Siren is no different. It picks up where The Soul Summoner left off. The same great characters make a reappearance including Sloan's parents and her friend, Adrianne. Sloan and Warren, with Nate in tow, stumble upon the nature of their supernatural origin. The bad guys in this one are of the human and celestial variety. New alliances are formed and even more enemies surface. The dynamic trio don't back down though, leading to fight scenes that are brutal and bloody yet cleverly crafted in an awed pleasure-terror way that only the best writers can accomplish.

Sadly, the love triangle we thought resolved in the first book has spilled over into this one. Sloan and Warren are genuinely in love but wedged in a relationship tainted with uncertainty. There is a refreshing chemistry and earnestness to this love triangle as the leads struggle with their dilemma while hoping against hope they come out of this impasse with their 'souls' intact.

I've totally fallen in love with this series, the characters, and Elicia Hyder's writing. A perfect mixture of supernatural elements, mystery, suspense and good dialogue. I can't wait for more books in this series and by this author.

*received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*
*Loved it so much I bought a copy*

I really loved this installment. The stakes have risen and the story changed before my very eyes. In the first book we got a normal working woman just trying to survive the world she lives in, when she gets thrown into a murder case despite her protests. With this book, she goes from having helped in one of the biggest cases in years, to getting involved in something that goes beyond the physical planes...

The reason why I love this author so much is because she managed to make a love-triangle I love. It was evident in the first book, and it's evident in this one, as well. Usually I hate wish-washy people but with Sloan, Warren and Nate, it's different. She just makes it such a nice set of drama haha.

It's a high recommend for me. The author's writing style is easy to get into, the story is interesting, and things get a bit scary if not exciting.
