Really not good, especially since I enjoyed the first one. No real emotional tension; the interesting relationship developed in the first book completely absent in the entire first half of this one (couldn't manage to read any further). Dialogue very inconsistent. Jarring use of the "f" word when not appropriate, modern speech patterns out of context, etc. not recommended.

I like that our heroine has progressed and is thinking. As a shifter, impulsiveness is a trait. Nice to see that it is no longer the quintessential trait defining her character. I took the plunge because of the development in the character from the first book into the second.

genre: fantasy
setting: alternate world
format: sequel, not intended to be read in isolation

This fantasy book is a sequel, and there is no point in reading it unless you have already read and enjoyed the prior two books. We pick up the plot where the prior left off; the leading lady's mage mentor has been kidnapped and she is about to rush to the rescue.

The creativity of this universe was mostly presented in books #1 and #2. As is typical of sequels, the author is starting to struggle to keep the writing fresh. This book was enjoyable yet entirely forgettable; a pleasant read for a lazy summer day. The enjoyment is in what the main character does rather than unique new settings for the reader to explore. There are some hints that perhaps there will be a romantic subplot in a future book but don't hold your breath. This book stands on its own merits, presenting a well constructed plot with climax and resolution; but it ends in a cliffhanger that sets up the next book.
Hunted (The Warrior Chronicles Book 2) :: Hunted: Chosen #2 (The Chosen) :: Hope(less) (Judgement Of The Six Book 1) :: Native Son :: HUNTED ON THE FENS a gripping crime thriller full of twists

The adventure continues in this third book. Sunaya can’t believe Iannis was missing and now she had to make use of all her resources to find him. But nothing is easy in her world and the Mage Guild neither trust shifters nor wanted her sniffing around. When she called the only friends she could count with and went in search of Iannis, a new adventure was challenging them. Had she risked her life for nothing? Soraya was running out of steam. However, she didn’t give up and with her teammates continued fighting the evil ones and searching the truth about the Protector. New secrets were unveiled and the risk grew bigger for Iannis, Fenris and Sunaya. Would she ever know about her father? Loved the intrigue, the drama, the suspense and Iannis and Sunaya characters. Sunaya was going crazy with Iannis’, the elusive Chief Mage, mood changes. She can’t be truly sure what was behind all of his façade with her and can’t risk to be rejected. I was thinking he was playing with her. The author really made a number with these two and it keeps me interested in this strange relationship. The twists in the story added to the action and suspense and I liked the situations where things are not so obvious and keep me guessing about the outcome. I’m so eager for the next book.
Received the ARC for an honest review.

On his way to Dara for the Convention Iannis, Chief Mage disappears. Sunaya's status in the palace is drastically affected. She needs to get him back but how is she going to rescue him when no one seems to want her help? Leaving the mages to do their thing Naya recruits Fenris, Iannis' close friend and Annis, her best friend to trace down and rescue Iannis. Unfortunately she finds the charms they shared are not enough to find him. And when they do find him he is under the magical influence of a shamaness. Can Naya bring back his memory and can they solve the plot the Resistance is planning in Dara? OMG what fun this book was. Racing through it and I kept flipping back to re-read bits.

This review will cover 'Marked by Magic' and 'Hunted by Magic' which I read back-to-back.
Sunaya Blaine is a half-panther shifter and half-mage. I had my doubts when this series began but it is solidly holding my interest and attention now. These were two good stories continuing Sunaya's journey as she continues to accept her two characteristics amidst much turmoil. It continues the story of her relationship with Iannis, the chief mage, her tutor and romantic interest. It all works for me now and the many of the other characters in this storyline keep it challenging and interesting.

Amazing! Way better than the first two! Sunaya teams up with Fenris and Annia to save the Iannis. Also, there is significant progress in Iannis and Sunaya's relationship. A lot happens when Sunaya goes to save him.

"How could I have forgotten your fiery spirit for even a moment?" -Iannis

There is a lot of political strife going on in Iannis's absence too, and we can see that Iannis is working on making changes.

Summary:
Great romance
Kickass heroine
Discussion on equal rights for shifters/mages

Wow, I'm really enjoying this series and book three just made me keep reading until it was done. This because a brings our heroine into understanding that maybe what she has thought about the Mage' s isn't actually true. But, she still has to deal with all the hostility, being a half breed herself. She's considered an abomination & everybody figures she should be burned at the stake. Luckily she has a champion in her corner, sure he's the Chief Mage, but he takes her in & makes her learn. This is a fabulous story and I want to Thank our wonderful author for writing such a great series & I sure hope that you enjoy it as much as I have.

ARC read. Another riveting read by Jasmine Walt. I was kept totally absorbed until the very last word, so many clever plot twists, unpredictable and so much fun! Give yourself plenty of time to read this because there is no way you will put it down part way through. Sunaya and her crew are going to keep you up all night! I can't wait until book 4.

Again, great writing, wonderful world and characters, intricate story arcs worked into the overarching plot, and the editing is above average (my personal pet peeve assuaged). Heading into book 4 eager to figure out who the mysterious Benefactor is!

Only one caveat: this is NOT a standalone book series. The author makes an effort to keep the reader refreshed, but if you are brand new to the series, read them in order, or you'll miss half of the good stuff.

I really enjoyed this book and felt that it takes the reader on a journey beyond Naya's everyday stumping ground and gives us more of the world around her. I think it would've been excellent to have gotten more of what was up with Iannis from his telling at the beginning of the book. I just felt the setting of the story called for a back and forth of his side and Naya's side until their tales converged. But this took nothing away from the awesome story and how Naya's magic has grown.

I think this world is wonderfully diverse and fun, though the native descriptions seemed very stereotyped. What really bothers me is the increased use of the f word in this series. It's completely turned me off enjoying the characters and storyline. I don't allow that in my house nor do I want to read it for enjoyment. Shrug. If it's a trigger for you then take warning.

After reading the first two books in this series, of course I HAD to read this one, and I was not disappointed, this author creates relatable characters, and I love the attitude of Sunaya!! and while each of these books could be stand-alones, especially with the glossary the author provides, reading them all in irresistible!! I am definitely pre-ordering the next book!! Definitely recommend this series!!

This magic series in fairly original and well written. Book 3 is the first to really include much adult content and it is pretty mild. Sunaya is a well developed character, and her cast of shifter, human, and mage friends are appealing. This book started to fill out a bit of background on Iannis, the Chief Mage who saved Sunaya and made her his apprentice. Very entertaining read!

Despite its excellent world-building, great action and reasonable level of character growth, this book was all but ruined by extensive editing problems. And I don't mean the odd typographical or word processing error. There are two characters drumming their fingers, for different reasons, in the same paragraph. There is a sigh of relief when a horrendous odour is reduced to just barely less than unbearable. There are many chapters spent on one rescue, but only a few pages spent on another. There are several moments involving bated, rather than abated, breath. There are plot holes, characters acting out of character, and poorly managed climactic scenes.

With all of the solicited reviews posted in the past few days, it appears that the author has an energetic publicist. I hope she continues to write because she's doing something unique in an over-saturated genre. But she definitely needs to consider her options when it comes to professional editing, because this is what will win or lose readership over time.

Jasmine Walt is a genius at story telling! Usually there is a book in a series that disappoints or is not as good as the others but The Baine Chronicles keep getting better! Iannis, Iannis! I love the sexual tension between him and Sunaya and my mind was blown away at how their relationship progressed! Jasmine dropped a bombshell on me when Iannis finny reveled how he truly feels! I am desperate for the next book but fortunately I don't have to wait much longer! Magorah bless Mrs. Walt!!

OMG what is going to happen next? Everything is a mess and Sunaya and Innis are in the middle of everything. They have already been through so much and it just never ends, it seems to get worse. I blew through this book in record time and now I'm counting down the days until the next one comes out.

Ms. Walt had created one of the most imaginative paranormal worlds that this book addict has read in awhile. Her writing deaws you in, & before you know it you're finished, anxiously waiting for the next thriller. Love this series, but hoping it comes to a conclusion swiftly.

I like this series, it keeps me guessing until the very end! Plus it isn't a series that the first book ends up being the best and the rest kind of dwindle off. The books keep getting better! Definitely a series to keep dragging you in especially if your a big fan of sci-fi, only downfall, would be that I was hoping for more development romantically between the main characters.

Things go bad when the Chief Mage goes missing and it's up to Sunaya and and gang to rescue him and get to the bottom of a bigger conspiracy. Things sort of heat up between Sunaya and Iannis, I can't wait!

I found the book to be quite the attention keeping and entertaining. The development of the main characters as well as some of the secrets that they keep being revealed and the story action made this quite an interesting read. Looking forward to the next one.

The book started off a little slow, making the characters seem not themselves. But once you get past the beginning the book heats up giving you the excitement and adventure that Sunaja thrives on. You feel the pain and frustration of the characters on their journey in search of the Chef Mage. Finally, some questions are answered, from the previous books, but you are left with new ones. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this series.

The author's continued development of the key characters, their connections and intertwining storylines makes this series even more compelling. Each novel makes you want to read the next to see how the story turns out in the end. Enjoy.

Great reading from beginning to end, could not put the book down. I can't wait for Book 4.
The heroine is so real and I love the fact that she has such a cataclysmic personality. I always feel bereft after each book. I will recommend this book to all my friends.

I can see why this author is compared to Patricia Briggs. I loved this series. It was fast paced and I immediately preordered the 4th one after finishing the 3rd book. I love how the main charterer struggles in both worlds (the mage world, and the shifter world). I love the tension between her and the Chief Mage. It was a great read. I couldn't put it down!

I really like this series. Strong heroine, strong hero. Their secrets are slowly being uncovered, and the supernatural ideas are original. I love the growing relationship between the main characters, and learning more about the secondary ones. I think the series is entertaining and worth reading, and I'm looking forward to the next installment. Also, just to note - I read many books using the Kindle Unlimited service. So many of these books have awful grammar and usage errors. This series is one that has very few, and I really appreciate that as a reader. ?

Enjoyable series despite the now regular theme of bounty hunter taken in by a mage. World is well created. Emotions are realistic. Dialogue is fun. If Urban Fantasy is your preferred genre, go forth and consume this deliciousness.
