Interesting story with good pace. I consider the story which focuses on mind reading and mind control to be science fiction. Maybe someday someone will figure out how to do this but now, it is science fiction. I was initially turned off by this but stuck with the story because the characters and plot were interesting.

20+ years ago I read Stephen King 's Firestarter and was completely blown away. This book is reminiscent of that story, and Lee's talent for keeping us on the edge of the chair is undeniable. Patrick Lee has not reached King 's prowess with regards to characters but I get the feeling it's only a matter of time.
Thank you Mr. Lee may I have another please.

A well-written thriller which held my interest from the first page to the last. This is unusual for me as I have had a hard time finding well-written suspense novels lately. It borders on science-fiction since many of the book's circumstances and plot depend on yet to occur science.

I loved this one, I have recommended it to friends and relatives and they liked it too. It starts out with a bang and continues to keep you on the edge of the seat to see what could possibly happen next.

I loved the 3 previous books Patrick Lee wrote. I'd never read anything like them. This book was equally enjoyable. He has created very like able protagonists set inside a great storyline. I feel just like I did at the end of each previous Patrick Lee novel -- how long do I have to wait for his next book?

All in all a good story. Some suspension of disbelief is necessary for most novels and this one is slightly sci-fi anyway. Well written and fast moving. Believable dialogue and characters. The characters have sufficient depth, as does the story, to sustain your interest. I enjoyed it sufficiently to buy more by this author.

The insomnia was bad again – ever since Sam Dryden had lost his wife and child in a terrible accident five years ago, nights were the worst time for him. So he did what had become his usual night time activity – he set out for a run; long and punishing, but it seemed to help. Leaning on the railing of the boardwalk while catching his breath, gazing out at the dark ocean, he was suddenly aware of a sound which seemed foreign for 3am – spinning around he was almost knocked off his feet as someone catapulted into him. Grabbing her arms to stop her falling, AND to stop her small fists as she struck out at him in terror, he saw she was only about twelve years old – he also saw she was terrified and running for her life.

As the garbled information was thrust at Sam – guns, soldiers, kill her – Sam was determined to save her, to evade her pursuers – this would be the start of an intense chase which would involve men and women so evil, so depraved as to stun even Sam. He had the experience – as a Ranger and a Delta, also a man who was involved in black-ops for five years - his skills and talents were extraordinary. But could he, one man only with no-one to trust, manage to help Rachel and unravel the mysteries of her life? With her memory only scanning the past two months, she was also aware of a talent which was extreme – no wonder they were trying to kill her.

With everything the government had in the way of military – Black Hawk helicopters, paramilitary troopers, the most sophisticated technology available, satellite “eyes in the sky” – would Rachel and Sam be able to stay under the radar? And how long before Rachel remembered her past? What would happen when and if she did? Was Sam in danger from her too?

This is my first by Patrick Lee, and oh my goodness – he threw me in the deep end and didn’t let me out until the very last page! The gripping and intense pace of this thriller began at page one; and there was no easing up to let me take a breath! This is an absolutely brilliant heart-stopping thriller which will keep you on the edge of your seat until you turn the very last page. THEN you will keep thinking about it and reliving it for a long time afterwards! Highly recommended to all.
