I usually like books with a historical background and romance included. This book was a good story and had no bad language in it , for which I am grateful . I hate for a good story to be riddled with filthy words. However I do like more substance to the books I read.

I did find the story readable, but found having to suspend normal time frame relationship building was a bit too much. The whole story takes place over 3 weeks - yes 3 weeks - suspend your logic please.

The dialogue was natural, the main characters were empathetic (although rigid), and there was bashing of formal religion.

SPOILER ALERT

To have a supposedly Christian woman leave her husband, have sex with 2 different men all within a week of leaving her husband and no mention of God at all seems a wee bit far fetched.
There was some character development, but no relationship development between the 'love' interests, just a harking back to high school eye meeting (!?) as them getting to know one another.
And to finish with an (expected) try for IVF (which only has a 20% success rate) being the sure way to get the child that she wants... I don't think so.

Hopefully there will be more about the main characters in future stories of the township of Miracle to round out what was a very short story, and bring some resolve to the other issues raised.

I'm sorry, but I found the characters totally weird and, other than when engaged in sex, cardboard, emotionless, and self absorbed. virtually no plot with too many loose ends and unresolved storylines left dangling. it gets one star...I give it a grade of d.

Liked this one--I always like novels where the characters end up in odd situations or places--always interesting to see how they get on with life, and what happens. This novel has people who are definitely not what they seem--and that's the way it is in real life. I liked this one, and will read others by this author in the future.
