This book was incredible! There were days I would read three chapters at a time, because I just couldn't put it down. My heart and mind were being challenged in ways I have not been challenged in a long time. The way the book is written was like you were just over to the authors' house having a sleep over with your best friends. They were so real and so transparent that you couldn't help but admire them and listen to everything they were saying and take it to heart.

Now I'm going to be brutally honest...I have read a dozen books about biblical womanhood, so honestly didn't think I'd learn a lot. The minute I got to the second chapter, I was jotting down notes and underlining things like I have never done. I was being convicted of not truly appreciating my womanhood. I was being challenged to make a change in myself and do a study with some of my closest friends...and then a small group with my church. I was brought to tears with some of the truths that were written out in the book, because for so long, I thought I was the only one who felt a certain way. I was asking God for forgiveness for not truly understanding why he created woman and not putting my value in Him.

This book needs to be in the hands of every teen girl (16 years and up), young single women, and married women. Every woman will walk away from this book feeling more confident in herself, more challenged to stand up for womanhood, and ready to be used by God.

It has changed my perspective on who I am as a woman and what I want to become, and will read this book again and again, until I can be a Kristen and Bethany to other girls.

This book is wonderful.

Girl Defined answered questions such as, “What does it mean to be a woman? How should a career fit into our lives? Is one gender more valuable than the other? Is my sole purpose just to grow up, get married, and have kids?”

While the book was written conservatively, it wasn’t wacky or old-fashioned. It challenged the thinking of girls at any stage of life, and stood up to cultural norms to see what the Bible really says.

One of my favorite chapters was chapter 3. In this chapter was one of my favorite quotes.

“God designed us to function best we’re paddling together for a cause greater than ourselves.”

And another favorite chapter was chapter 6, with a quote that sums up one of the most central themes of the entire book.

“Helping others is foundational in God's design for womanhood.”

I’ve been following Kristen and Bethany’s blog, girldefined.com for quite some time now, and have loved their posts about what biblical womanhood looks like. This book was a fantastic summarization of everything they blog about – from gender roles, to beauty, to identity, to culture, and relationships.

I’ve already convinced some friends to buy it, and it would make a wonderful book for a group study. After each chapter, there is a short study guide with discussion questions and activities.

I loved the format of the book. The chapters were manageably sized and divided, with adorably-styled quotes in the margins, attractive formatting, and a sweet, feminine design throughout.

Though filled with deep concepts and challenging ideals, it was easy to read and never dry or boring.

It only took me a few days to read through, and though I speed-read a bit, the principles stuck with me. I highly recommend this book to girls anywhere from twelve years old to adult, though it’s marketed to mid-to-older teens and young women. Honestly, any Christian woman could benefit from it.

Pick up your own copy on May 17th, 2016!

“Girl Defined” by Kristen Clark & Bethany Baird was an excellent book! This book tells us what God’s true design is for women. Women of all ages tend to have a distorted view of femininity. We tend to focus on the outside. We also tend to compare ourselves to other women. This is not what is important. These sisters show us how God intended women to view femininity. Kristen Clark & Bethany Baird do a great job of gearing us, women of all ages, in the right direction. Sometimes we know how we need to act, but don’t do it. We need a nudge in the right direction. These sisters help with the nudge! This book would be great for women of all ages, teenagers through mature adults. They write in a very easy to read format and are very down-to-earth. This book could also be used as a book study. After each chapter is a couple-page study guide with questions to answer. I would definitely recommend this book to all women. I received this book from Baker Books for my honest opinion.

This book is mind-, heart- and life-transforming! Every single page was revolutionizing, transforming, and inspiring. I cannot express it any better than that. Each page made me want to reread this book with and/or give it to all the women I know, both young and old. This is a book I think every teen, young adult, and woman should read.

Authors Kristen and Bethany did an amazing job in explaining and exploring what God’s definition of true femininity and womanhood look like. Their book has easily and practically shown me how I can live my life in accordance to Him and get real purpose and fulfillment out of life. For instance, they talk about God’s design for women while making it practical, and they show how it looks when we are single, have a family, or are working or pursuing a career. They even share multiple inspiring and relatable life stories and true examples, which help in applying it to my own life.
One of my favorite points in the book is when they discuss what it looks like to balance family and having a successful career.

Furthermore, they discuss and explore each pillar of God’s design for us as women. This was transforming to me because they laid out in plain words what it means to be a real woman and showed practical ways in which I can start to live that out today. This was transforming because, before reading this book, I could not have given you a definition of what a real woman is, let alone God’s definition.

Lastly, I would read this book with both Christ-following and non-believing friends because the truths still apply.
For another great review, C. Freeman was also on point with her review at https://www.the store.com/review/R1SSS6TZGIYUWK/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=080100845X&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=283155&store=books

Thank you for reading, and be prepared to be transformed and awed by this book and God's truths!

I would highly highly highly recommend the book "Girl Defined" by Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird. The book is Biblically sound, emotionally effective, and incredibly relatable.

As a perfectionist, I can't help but beat myself up mentally over even the tiniest of "mistakes" or "blemishes". So much of this perfectionist turmoil has came directly from what the culture tells me I'm supposed to be compared to (size 0 with flawless skin and a perfect relationship who says the right things at the right time and achieves worldly success). However, these lies the world keeps telling me are simply not what God has planned.

Through my time developing into a Godly young woman, I have found it incredibly difficult over my journey to keep my eyes focused on what God has planned for me and my femininity, rather than what the world tells me I have to be. Insert where Girl Defined has changed my perspective.

Although I strive to keep my eyes cast on the things above in everything I do, the persistent lies the world tempts me with can get in the way of things all too easily. Girl Defined ministries constantly picks me up after the world fails me and reminds me of my amazing, Heavenly Father and the love He has for the wonderfully imperfect me.

I am incredibly thankful for the Girl Defined blog and now especially their new book, "Girl Defined: God's radical design for beauty, femininity, and identity" for helping me along the process of keeping my eyes cast upon God's plan for my womanhood and by giving me a play-by-play of what God has in store for my gifted femininity.

With comprehendible diction, beneficial details and many great features including my personal favorite, GIVEN SPACE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND WRITE THOUGHTS (!!!!!!!!), Girl Defined is easily a must-read for women at every age and stage of life.

I would absolutely recommend this book to women of all ages and points in their journey. I am a seventeen-year-old blogger and this book has been incredibly helpful in my personal journey, so much so that I have now purchased two copies to give to my friends to spread the amazing message.

Pick up your copy today, send one to a friend, and then go read up on the Girl Defined blog! This is absolutely #TheKendallAppraochApproved!!

Girl Defined: God's Radical Design for Beauty, Femininity, and Identity is a wonderfully inspiring book on how to become a Girl; Defined by God. Kristen and Bethany describe the pillars of Counterfeit Femininity. These pillars are worldly images and ideas that society has forced us to compare ourselves to. The models and actresses that we see everyday have caused us to believe that we have no worth, no value, unless we become like these ladies. In Girl Defined, Kristen and Bethany share stories of themselves and a few friends that had fallen into the trap of Counterfeit Femininity and how they had done everything that they could to become like these ladies idolized by society, but found no satisfaction. Every one of these girls had a hole in their hearts that they tried to fill with worldly wrongs. But when they turned away from these things and to God and the Bible for help, they were astounded and forever changed by God's design for womanhood. Kristen and Bethany teach you, the reader, how to break away from the trap of Counterfeit Femininity and how to use God's word to help you change your life forever. You will discover that only God can give you the worth and value that you've been searching for. Are you ready to become the woman that God has intended you to be? Uncover God's Radical Design for You! (I recommend following their blog too, also named Girl Defined)

I absolutely love this book! It is truly inspiring. I definitely recommend it for any teen girl or lady. I am 27 years old and married and was challenged by this book. I am truly thankful for Kristen and Bethany's love for God and their honesty. This world we live in is going crazy and what they have written in this book is exactly what Christian young ladies and older ladies need to read. We need more Christian ladies to take a stand for God and to be a woman defined by God. This book is such a help in challenging us to be just that! I couldn't stop underlining and I enjoyed reading every chapter. It is very easy to read and I love the review at the end of each chapter. You will not regret purchasing this book and reading it. More than ever we need Christian women to take a stand and to not be afraid to live their womanhood defined by God. We especially need Christian teen girls to carry the torch for their generation- I recommend you to read this book and to be challenged- you will not be able to put it down.

Femininity, beauty, and identity. The three most sought-after definitions by women through the years, especially in this day and age. In a world where the ungodly culture thrusts its own versions and variations of these three essentials of womanhood upon the ladies of the day, this book is a radical refresher.
Kristen and Bethany cut to the heart of what it really means to be a girl defined by God. I have read lots of books on womanhood; I've done my own studies, but never have I come across a book that met me on a personal level like this one. With breath-taking honesty, these ladies share their own journey of discovering God's definition of what a true woman is.
I found the writing style wonderfully personable and easy to digest. At the end of each chapter is a study of what you have previously learned enabling you to dig deep inside your own heart and help you identify lies and misconceptions. Both the book and the study challenged me in a way that made me search my own heart and realize I was believing some lies too! I thought I'd learned it all. ;)

Having read this book I am now more grounded in my role of a woman and who I am in Christ.
I highly recommend all women and young ladies, single or married, to grab your own copy and start reading! It is life-changing and will strengthen your walk with Christ.

In their first book, Girl Defined, sisters Bethany Baird and Kristen Clark take us on an incredible journey that defines womanhood from a biblical perspective. They address the lies that our culture has fed us of a femininity that is counterfeit. They clarify them by describing the three pillars of counterfeit femininity and pointing out what they have done to distort God’s design for our gender. Then, they bring us back to the way and reason that God’s designed the female gender in the book of Genesis, reveal the three pillars of biblical femininity, and give practical ways to live them out, no matter what phrase of life you are currently in. Single or married, with or without kids, teen or young adult, they cover all of it in an honest and relevant way. It all brings home the powerful truth that we cannot find our value through any of the methods prescribed by our culture. The only place where we will truly find our value and purpose is in Jesus. All of this is done with relevant examples and stories from the lives of the authors that bring home many powerful truths. The balance of perspective from a women who is married (Kristen) and one who isn’t married (Bethany) helps this book to be appealing and relevant to women in all phases of life. The discussion guide and questions after each chapter also helps the readers see how to practically apply what they read. In a time when God’s standards for both manhood and womanhood are constantly being called into question, this book’s explanation, understanding, and application of biblical womanhood is needed now more than ever. Women of all ages can gain something from reading and applying the truth in its pages. Get your copy today!

In a world sin-scarred, broken, and suffering from the powerful effects of our fallen nature, this book was truly refreshing and a delight to read. Girl Defined is packed with solid truth, the perfect length, and is an enjoyable read. Sensitive and intimate issues that are covered are not pervasive and always delivered tastefully and with solid biblical references. This book is well-researched, strongly based on biblical truth, and is pertinent for the world in which we now find ourselves. From the very beginning, Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird share from their own personal experiences and offer you glimpses into their lives, complete with their own journey into the modeling world.
The book is divided into 5 parts beginning with a clear explanation of why this book and topic of biblical womanhood is so relevant for today. They dissect the idea of “counterfeit femininity” (which the current media-driven culture so readily adheres to) and demonstrate how this idea is actually leaving more women hurting and searching for meaning and value. In the following sections of the book, they explain in detail how women can aim for God’s plan and learn to truly understand and appreciate our gender. They discuss the pillars of biblical womanhood and then offer testimonies of how we can apply these truths in our lives no matter what moment of life we are in. Once the stage is set, the authors start delivering sensible and practical ways to start incorporating God’s truth about our identity into our daily lives. There is a clear and definite plan of action offered for transforming this from a motivating theme to a real-life application. Checkpoints and study guide questions accompany each chapter of this book providing you an unwavering sense of direction. Now is the perfect time to begin transforming your life according to the standard that never changes…God’s Word. After reading this book, I would describe it in the word “intentional”. God created us intentionally, in His image, and we can live according to His Word and His design and leave behind the emptiness that comes after following the ways of the world.
I would highly recommend this book to young women, especially those in middle adolescence, and for all women, regardless of whether they are married or have children. This book will be a resource for me as my own daughter is coming soon into the teenage years. I would also recommend their blog site [...]for more information, resources, and timely advice.

"Girl Defined: God's radical design for beauty, femininity, and identity" by Kristen Clark & Bethany Baird is a must-read for each and every woman, no matter her age. This book is written by two sisters with whom after reading this book you will feel like you are a third sister. It is open, honest and just a nice breath of fresh air into the moments and days when we get so caught up in our thoughts of feeling like we are not pretty enough, we are not good enough, we are not fitting that "girly" mold. The book begins with the girls sharing their stories of their first modeling interviews, each one very different from the other. I loved that this was the beginning as it painted to very opposite types of experiences, opinions and values. Each of the following chapters focuses on helping the reader to appreciate and love herself and her femininity in God's design for each of us. Each chapter ends with a study guide, questions to answer and reflect upon on and one point to really put into action today. I believe this would be a wonderful book for mothers and teenage daughters to read together, or of course a book to work through together with some girlfriends in a small group setting.

I bought this book a couple months ago, after reading some positive reviews.
I liked the book, I am a young woman trying to understand my purpose in life and what is the role of women in this world and this book definitely gave me a lot to think about. I have to say I don't agree with everything Kristen and Bethany say but in believe that this book gives some good ideas. Read it with discernment and you will not be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this book. It was such a blessing. Many of the questions we ask in today's society are answered in biblical ways in this book. Seeing the answers through the eyes of these sisters was such a joy as they shared there stories. The concepts were presented in a clear way. I was lucky to get a early copy and highly recommend it!

First of all, I liked the cover. Ranunculus are some of my favorites. I also loved the heart behind this book and the sisters writing it. Kristen and Bethany share from their own stories, and from Scripture about being a lady in today’s culture. I think one of my favorite things about this book was an honest discussion about how to be a godly woman in different life stages, whether single or married, in a career or stay-at-home mom, teenager or college-age. This book speaks truth into how women get to uniquely reflect God’s glory. It is empowering and encouraging. B+ for me.

"Beauty, sexuality, gender identity, purpose, and value, are being defined by the shallow standards of our culture. But two young writers are bravely challenging that status quo and calling women to embrace true beauty and womanhood—as defined by God. Kristen and Bethany are painfully transparent as they invite us into their life experiences and take us on a journey to step into the glorious purpose God has for us as women! Girl Defined is a carefully researched book that leads women to think through their purpose on a grand and biblical scale. I joyfully recommend it to you!" -Kimberly Wagner

"Hey Hollywood, Vogue and MTV… what if you are wrong about strong women and sexuality? What if today’s girls are looking for a depth of beauty that doesn’t need a runway? Girls are longing for something deeper than fashion and hair flipping. Kristen and Bethany have answered that call with Girl Defined. As a mom and fierce defender of femininity I am thrilled to get this book into the hands of the women and girls I mentor. It’s nothing short of Modern Chic meets Biblical Womanhood." -Mona Corwin

SUMMARY:
Girl Defined is about redefining womanhood according to God’s creation, not the world’s concept. Based on Biblical truths concerning the woman gender, authors Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird remind women of the importance of their roles according to God’s unique plan. Through personal stories, Biblical references, study guides and reminder points, several important and encouraging messages are shared, myths are debunked and standards are set straight. As the founders of GirlDefined Ministries, these sisters turned authors tout the significance of being women created in God’s image…

A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
It is about time! This book should be shared with women of all ages, beginning with the High School age yet the messages could be shared even younger. Not so much a cheerleading book but a more gentle encouragement for women to appreciate, accept and guard their gender while following God, I especially liked the reminder verses found in the margins. “Be the woman who inspires change in others through your obedience to God.” Looking to God for clarification on gender rather than the world for gender expectations can be powerful in the success, health and happiness of women. As speakers, bloggers, mentors and authors, these sisters are right on target. Perfect for a Women’s Ministry, Bible Study, High School Youth Group or perhaps even a sermon topic, Girl Defined is long overdue!

"Girl Defined" is a very timely book. We are currently living in a world where it is ok to be whatever you want as long as whatever you want to be isn't a God defined female. Everyone wants us to live a life of truth until the truth hurts. This book is a wonderfully written, Biblically based, and clever book. I have ordered this copy to send to a friend. Love how these sisters have laid out Gods specific calling for females. It was a wonderful and encouraging read. I recommend it to anyone in women's ministry. I served for over five years in women's ministry and I wish that I had this resource then. Thank you Bethany and Kristen for following the Lords leading in writing this book. I pray he blesses it abundantly.

I recently finished reading Girl Defined by Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird. This was an amazing book! It’s difficult to put into words how amazing and impactful this book has been in my life. It has been such a blessing for me to read all about what being a true woman of God really means. I only hope that this book will make as big of an impact on you as it has on me. Not only do Kristen and Bethany go over exactly what a godly woman is and is not, but they also address gender roles and the importance of marriage and motherhood in the eyes of God. This book was extremely challenging for me, and it made me reevaluate a great deal of the thoughts and opinions I had on the role of a woman. Overall, an incredible and thought-provoking book that every Christian woman of God should read! I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I had been searching for something that I could dig deeper into with the older girls in my youth group. I was tired of teaching them the same thing over and over and all the material seemed to share the same thing. I wanted something that didn't sugar coat things for them; something that would immediately relate to them and get them interested and thinking abou their situations. Not many books do that, by girl defined definitely did! It made them think about the woman they'd like to grow up to be someday. And it got them thinking about their relationships now and what they'd like to change. Girl defined is something that every girl needs to read and I'm super excited to dig more into girl defined' blog! We use at least one article every time we meet now! And sometimes we get to talk about things that others are too afraid to talk about because it's unconfortable but it also needs to be addressed!

And they don't stop with just defining what a godly woman is, they walk you through how to live it out! It's an overall empowering and thought-provoking book that encourages us to glorify our Creator. The questions and challenges at the end of the chapter help you to apply what you've just read. I highly recommend purchasing this book!

"Girl Defined" by Kristen Clark & Bethany Baird is about is about learning God's Radical Design for beauty, femininity and identity. This book was such a breath of fresh air on being a Godly woman. It did not focus on a list of do's and don'ts and an attitude of you must be like us. It was focused on scripture and what it says how a woman should be not what society even Christian society says. I am so used to books that give the author's opinion how they think a Christian woman should be even without back their idea with scripture. This book was so different and such a breath of fresh air to use scripture to show what a woman should be like. No cookie cut lists the author explains that God has a different path for each of us but does have some things that we are supposed to focus on in the Lord. What great book and I highly recommend it.

I was given this book from BakerBooks a division of Baker Publishing Group for my honest review and was not required to give a positive review.

This book is what young girls, women, older women need to read! It challenges women to rethink the norm. To evaluate what the world is telling them and to contradic a each wrong worldview with amazing truths from the scripture.
I read this book with a group of 8-12 girls for 8 weeks and saw this book impacting lives. It was so neat to see the girls open up and share their opinions and how different messages from the media, their family or friends, and just the world in general had shaped their thinking. Then to open up this book and be shown a better way, the way to become a girl whos identity is wrapped up in Jesus. Today, Christian girls NEED this message to beable to stand against this culture!

What is God's design for women?" You should definitely order and read this truly amazing book!

Girl Defined: God’s Radical Design for Beauty, Feminity, and Identity by Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird is a book that focuses on women’s self-worth. I think that the target audience would be girls in their teens or early twenties. The authors discuss societal beauty standards and how many women often feel like they are not “enough,” and then suggests ways that women can embrace their value and identity through Christ. The book sends a healthy, positive message, reminding girls that their true worth does not lie in external beauty, relationships, or even their careers. I especially liked the discussion questions at the end of each chapter, which encourage readers to share their thoughts regarding beauty and self-image. The authors are sisters, and since Clark is married and Baird is single, they both provide interesting perspectives on how women can serve Christ in their particular stage of life.

I recommend this book to single and married women, young and old. I'm excited to share it with teens in my girls ministry and my friends in their mid to late 20s.
Thank you Kristen and Bethany for being BRAVE and writing truth we all need to hear and remember.

Sin today has broken both womanhood and manhood. Feminism has lost its meaning by society. Throughout this book, Bethany and Kristen teach us the pillars of biblical womanhood. Society shouldn't define us for who we are. Most importantly God should be the main purpose of how we live our daily lives.

What a wonderful book Kristen and Bethany have written! They have come together to write this book in order share some of their struggles and victories they have encountered along the journey of being a young lady in today's society. It has encouraged my heart and also challenged me in the way I live my life. This book is a must read for girls, young and old alike! It's easy to pick up and read, yet has you thinking of the truths and challenges you've just read for the rest of the day. Highly recommended, and widely do I recommend this excellent book! :)

This book has truly influenced me for the better when it came to my walk with Christ and trying to live out godly womanhood. Kristen and Bethany make their points so clear and precise in their book that I had no trouble reading it, and got through it in about 2 days! This is something I think every girl should read, no matter what the age. It's not a book where you need to determine who you are, or what in this world will make you more successful. Girl Defined has truly helped me embrace that my worth comes from Christ alone, and nothing in this world can shake His everlasting love for me.

Amazing, amazing read! For any woman of any age, this book will help you better understand God's desire for you as a woman. It's entertaining and engaging but best of all it clearly explains what we can do if we really want to be God-honoring women. After reading it I bought copies for my closest friends, that's how strongly I believe every woman should read this fantastic book!

"Girl Defined" is a great book for younger women and a good beginning for those just starting to search out what Biblical womanhood looks like. However, personally I found the content was geared more toward teenage girls who compare themselves to the models on TV and in magazines. Very little of the book actually looks at specifics of what the Bible says about women. The majority of what Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird is concerned with real-life examples and cultural pressures, which I appreciated - I just didn't find it particularly applicable to myself. The authors do constantly point everything back to the glory of God and focus on placing your identity in God. They contrast three pillars of culture-defined womanhood (sexual freedom, independence, and liberation) with three pillars of Biblical womanhood (helping others, producing life, and nurturing relationships), and include their own personal stories, as well. The book is a short and quick read that many will find relevant and encouraging, but readers should expect strong, simple and concise points over deep, thought-provoking theological material.

I never thought the words of two women seeking to inspire young girls could radically change my mindset. I keep up with girl defined blogs and I'm always finding something new that I need work in. I am walks being encouraged! As a teenage Christian girl, it is extremely hard to not conform to this society. However, reading this book and their blogs have truly inspired me as a young Christian girl to embrace what God has called for me in my life and my purity. Thank you so much! I received this book as a high school graduation gift from my guidance counselor and I can honestly say it was one of the most helpful books I have ever read. I found myself unable to put it down because of how entrancing and inspiring each and every chapter was. It offers such a refreshing view of femininity and womanhood that I've been looking for for a long time. I've even gifted it to a few of my friends because of just how inspiring it is. If you haven't read this book, you need to!

This book gave me insight I have never had before. I learned SO MUCH about being a woman and what it means to be a woman. I read it with some high school girls from my youth group and it was such a good book to bond over. The book is very well writtten and chalk full of scripture so I know their beliefs are alligned with His truth. Every high school and college girl NEEDS to read this book! Thank you Bethany and Kristen for your inspiriation to be a BRAVE girl!!

Kristen and Bethany present a candid, Biblically-sound approach to how young women should embrace Biblical femininity. Though more topical than Scripturally exegetical in nature, it provides an excellent framework for young Christian ladies who are unfamiliar with the Bible's principles for womanhood.

Absolutely great book! Kristen and Bethany share a much needed message for our time and age; giving hope for the emptiness so many of us feel inside. We as women were destined for so much more! These two sisters challenge and encourage us to step out beyond our comfort zone and embrace femininity as God designed it ! Dare to be brave!!!

In a world where womanhood is increasingly defined by body shape, brand names, boyfriends, bust size, beauty tips, and bawdy sexual mores, someone needs to champion a biblical vision of true beauty—and few do it as well as Kristen and Bethany

This is a great book to encourage newly become Christian girls to live according to God's design, and to live a pure and set apart life.
It was very interesting to read, with the personal examples.
