While not always super in depth on some topics, most will give the reader a pretty solid understanding of a bike style, systems and terms. A riding course will probable make much more sense and help put what this book covers into play more completely. I have been riding for 28+ yrs and still enjoyed the read. I gave it 4 stars because I felt the Authors could have added some more personal experiences with "Oh crap" moments that would benefit the reader. An interesting side note is I have a higher level of respect for Sonny after seeing his concern for safety with himself and all riders.

Right on. I always, always wanted to ride a motorcycle and I always wanted to ride an American bike. I try and buy American. Not crap (American made Swiss cheese sucks)but almost everything else. Americans have to wake up and see the value in preserving what is 'American' No I'm not a reactionary Republican I am just me. Having said that this famed author helped me to overcome my fear of not being able to learn how to ride a motorcycle. What can I say I'm a slow learner. Screw cell phones.Great book, funny, tough, honest and helpful, hey what's more American than that? Great book. Glad they still making hardcovers printed in America too. Right on Sonny.

This is a tremendous volume of Sonny Barger's experience of motorcycles and motorcycling and the BEST read of any rider training book I've seen. I've read Hough, Hahn, MSF, Parks and many other professional riders' and journalists' rider instruction books and while all are helpful none compare with Barger's narrative style and readability.

Let's Ride is like a pleasant afternoon conversation with a wise rider who has clocked more than 1,000,000 miles in safety; it's an honest account of riding, straight forward, doesn't preach, fun and gets the job done.

It sure seems that Sonny Barger was being paid well to endorse Victory motorcycles and to turn away potential Victory customers from their closest competitors; Harley Davidson, and to a lesser degree, Yamaha. This was done throughout the book to the point of being very tiresome and obvious. He even resorted to using inaccurate torque and horsepower ratings for the Harley (using current Victory ratings compared to ratings accurate for an old shovelhead rather than the latest Harley offerings). Just one of many more inaccuracies was stating that Harley had to change the fifth gear in their current 6 speed trannies (wrong year was stated) because of fifth gear transmission failures when infact it was to correct a very slight gear whine in fifth gear. Other than that, Mr. Barger's irreverent writing style is enjoyable and the book is especially valuable for those that want to get into riding but are looking for more info.
